Football News24/7 Leonardo Bonucci didn't have too much to worry about during Italy's 1-0 win over the United States
On Wednesday night, Italy had another opportunity to continue their rebuilding process under Roberto Mancini and secured victory by the narrowest of margins
Italy were fresh from a 0-0 draw with Portugal - who qualified for the UEFA Nations League finals - and looked on course for another goalless affair at the Cristal Arena
The United States posed little trouble for the renowned Italy defence, mustering just a single shot on target and 26% possession despite coming seconds away from a draw
It wasn't until stoppage time that Italy eventually secured the win with Matteo Politano finding the bottom left corner from a Roberto Gagliardini assist
Italy 1-0 United States Mancini expressed his relief at avoiding another 0-0 result after the game, remarking: "It was heading to 0-0 again… but that's football, there's nothing you can do about it
"We had so many chances, the important thing is that it was a good performance
It was the first time we were playing together, so we couldn't think of playing like the first half for 90 minutes
"It was another solid performance from the aforementioned Bonucci, though, who is on the comeback trail after a disappointing campaign with AC Milan
Bonucci's brilliant pass Nevertheless, he continues to produce moments that remind fans why he's one of world football's best defenders and one such instance came against America
Bonucci attracted plaudits across Twitter for an inspired pass from deep, using the outside of his foot to take almost the entire opposition side out of the game
Frankly, it was an unbelievable pass, never mind for a centre-back, and deserved to result in a goal
It still got the credit it deserved, though, and the video can be checked out below: No wonder the fan 'needed to go for a walk' after watching the clip
Bonucci is a brilliant example to other defenders when it comes to playing out from the back, starting attacks and occasionally providing assists
It's only one example from the 31-year-old, but it certainly had the quality you'd expect from players like Andres Iniesta and Kevin De Bruyne who have turned passing into an art
Thankfully, Italy finally provided the finishing this type of creativity deserved and the nation will be feeling optimistic going into 2019
No matter how the future pans out for them, though, you can guarantee that they'll continue to produce top quality defenders just like Bonucci
And when they can deliver passes like that from out of the blue, there's every chance they'll be competing for silverware very soon
