The Shruti Box in india is used similar to a tanpura. Notes of the raga are underlaid with it and on that singers and instrumentalists play.

It is also used for meditation and joga.

What is Sound? - Duration: 2:07.

Sound is the brain's interpretation of waves of pressure travelling through a medium.

These waves of pressure can be produced by any vibrating object like the strings of a

guitar, drums or our own vocal cords.

When these vibrations hit our ears, specific nerve cells are stimulated to fire electrical

signals up to our brain, which then interprets it as "sound".

Thus we have the "conscious experience of hearing".

Since sound needs a medium through which to travel, we cannot hear sound in space.

The human ear is capable of hearing sounds within the frequency range of 20-20000 Hertz.

Although we cannot hear sounds out of this range many other creatures have adapted to

these frequencies.

We know that sound is caused when something vibrates and that motion is transferred to

the air molecules nearest the object...which then bumps into other molecules and a chain

reaction occurs.

But what is the nature of sound?

It seems like a ghost that only takes shape in our heads.

So is it not real?

Is sound a quality belonging to the medium or to the object making the sound?

Although these questions do not have straight answers, they force us to re-think about what

we have always thought was so real.

Regardless of what one may think about sound, hearing is one of the amazing five senses

we've got.

Hearing, in a sense, gives us extra-awareness of our surroundings.

Talking allows us to communicate with each other and makes us feel connected.

Certain combinations of these abstract waves of pressure can amazingly soothe our minds,

reduce stress and trigger feelings associated with our past experiences.

Music not only can move us, inspire us but even improve our analytical skills.

What If Iku Turso Was Real? - Duration: 4:07.

The Iku Turso Is an evil sea monster from finnish mythology. He?s basically Finland?s

loch ness monster, only a lot more bad-ass. According to literature, the iku turso is

responsible for the spread of disease and he is essentially the god of death. The iku

Turso is just a legend, but what if he wasn?t? What if he really was lurking at the bottom

of the Baltic sea somewhere, and if he was disturbed, he would wreak havoc on the world?

Lets imagine what would happen, right now, on life?s biggest questions. Hello and welcome

was used by Finland was named after the iku torso, There are many different descriptions

of the iku turso monster, all of them describing him differently. Some of the accounts describe

it as being a giant octopus with long tentacles and suckers. Other accounts say he has a thousand

heads. One thing?s for certain, he?s a very important figure in Finnish literature. His

habitat is the Baltic sea, and large lakes. And if you disturb him, he becomes very angry

and aggressive. Most of the accounts of him seem to suggest that he is the embodiment

of all evil. Alright, so first things first, if the iku turso was real, all the countries

surrounding its habitat, the Baltic sea would have quite a bit to worry about. Finland,

Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Sweden, Denmark and Poland and Germany all surround the Baltic

Sea. Viking history would be extremely different if the Iku Turso turned out to be real. Kattegat,

once a major Viking settlement, lies right at the mouth of the Baltic Sea. The Vikings

would travel from Kattegat to surrounding areas, raiding villages and towns. And it?s

not just the Vikings, there were many pagan tribes during the iron age that would engage

in maritime warfare and raiding. There was a lot of fighting among these tribes, and

most of them travelled around the Baltic sea using long boats. As it stands right now,

the iku turso?s character is somewhat static. Mentions of him vary in description. If the

iku turso was real, he would be thought of as a god, and we would see a lot more mentions

of him. There would be evidence of temples and art, poems, songs and stories. These pagans

were passionate about their religions, imagine how passionate they would be if one of their

gods, the iku turso, turned out to be real. Each tribe would have a high priest or priestess,

given the task of determining iku turso?s temperament. Maybe these high priest and priestesses

would decide ways to keep iku turso happy so that tribes could travel safely. Maybe

with sacrifices, with offerings or songs. Pagan fashion and manner of dress would resemble

how the iku turso looked, and trust me, it wouldn?t be cute. We?d see norsemen sporting

weird beards adorned with tentacles. Women wearing elaborate tentacle adorned gowns.

It could even be said that maybe many of these tribes wouldn?t have existed at all if the

iku turso turned out to be real. Seeing as their culture heavily revolves around the

sea and being able to travel around on the sea in boats, this would not make iku turso

very happy. He would likely become irritated by the wars and raids going on on the surface

of the sea, so he would rise up and smite entire tribes and settlements with diseases,

killing them off. Either that, or these cultures would not have evolved to be maritime cultures

at all. They would stay on land, to keep the iku turso at bay. Travel would be done on

foot, rather than by boat. It could mean that the entire history of the Vikings would be

different, or they would go around raiding areas of Europe that were far away from iku

turso. And lets think about what would happen in the 20th century if the iky turso turned

out to be real. The 20th century, with both its loud world wars, would have made him extremely

upset. He would rise up from the depths to plague all of Europe with a devastating disease,

wiping out nearly everyone. If the Iku Turso turned out to real, perhaps the world?s nations

would try to ban together to destroy it. Navys would flock to the Baltic sea in their submarines,

searching the depths for the iku turso. Who knows, maybe with modern weapons, they would

be able to destroy him, especially if he were real and not a supernatural being.

I'm like, "I don't care.".

Or, is today August 17th or 16th?

- [Cameraman] 17th. - 17th, cool.

And I said, "I don't care if it's August 17th,

September 17th, October 17th.

I don't give a fuck what day it is.".

I don't care about upcoming dates and trying to guess.

This is why I'm not on CNBC.

I react

to the reaction of news.

I don't try to predict news.

I don't try to predict the reaction of news.

I react to the reaction.

And I know this sounds weird

and kinda corny,

but it's true.

I wait for the news to come out,

and this has been a big part of my success.

I don't have to guess ahead of time, okay.

I used to play the guessing game.

I wrote for TheStreet.com.

I was getting all these page views

when I was like, "Oh, here's an earnings winner,

or a probable earnings winner coming up.".

And I would try to guess.

And most of the time, I was right,

but sometimes, I was really wrong.

And as a financial commentator, it doesn't matter

'cause you're just throwing out ideas

and people just want ideas

'cause they're degenerate gamblers.

But as a teacher, my goals are different.

I wanna teach you strategies that actually work.

And they might not be the most exciting.

They're not the most action oriented,

like, "Okay, how do I prepare for October 17th?".

How do you prepare for October 17th?

You wait for fucking October 17th to happen.

And then you see what stocks are moving on October 17th

or October 18th.

And the same goes true with earnings.

How do I know what's gonna be the next big earnings winner?

You wait for the companies to report the fucking earnings

and then you see, what are the biggest percent gainers.

You do not have to guess ahead of time.

You should not guess ahead of time.

And I know this sounds weird but it's true.

Okay?

There's helicopters flying around, I don't care.

I'm just gonna be real with you.

Does it sound terrible?

Fine.

I don't care if it sounds professional or not

because I have learned a lot

over the past two decades in the stock market.

And too many people try to predict stuff ahead of time.

They think that there's like, a skill,

there's an art.

There's nothing, okay?

It's a fucking coin toss

and you're not gonna make a lot of money.

Even if you do make money sometimes.

The key to making money a lot over the years

is to not play the guessing game

and to just recognize that even when the news comes out,

you have one, two, sometimes three days

before more people realize it.

If you're on the game, if you're on the ball

like I am every day.

Like, putting watch lists together,

commentary, trade alerts,

video lessons, blog posts, Tweets.

I'm on it every single day

because that's the way that I'm prepared.

You know, I trade like a sniper.

I'm prepared for that shot when the shot is there.

Today, I didn't even trade.

There was no great trades.

Some days, you're not gonna trade.

But I wait for the news to happen.

You do not have to predict it ahead of time.

I know that you want to.

I know that you think that you're working hard,

where you're like, "Oh,

I'm gonna do channel checks.

I'm gonna see if this product is doing well.

I'm gonna be an analyst.".

Analysts, if you actually look at

academic studies and papers on Wall Street

and analysts, and Jim Kramer, for that matter,

they're right 35-40% of the time.

It's not a majority of the time.

And this is why, frankly, they don't make a lot of money.

This is frankly why TheStreet.com is failing.

This is frankly why CNBC's ratings

are at multi-decade lows.

It's not making people money.

90% of traders lose.

Why are my students at all time highs?

Why do I have so many successful students?

Because I teach a strategy

that might not be the most exciting

but it fucking works.

And you can doubt me, you can ignore me.

You're free to do that.

But I'm gonna teach what I've learned

over the past two decades.

And this is why my winning percentage is 70%.

This is why my top students' winning percentage

is 60, 65, 70%.

And when we're wrong?

Rule number one is cut loses quickly.

So, don't try to predict events ahead of time.

Simply wait for the reaction.

And then, what do you do with the reaction?

Well, hopefully, you've been studying

my video lessons, DVDs, webinars,

and you see how different patterns play out.

You see that earnings winners can spike

on day two, day three, day four.

You can see that OTC, multi-day breakout spike

on day two, day three, day four.

You can see that morning panics are really good

for the first hour or two.

You can see that you probably shouldn't buy,

or dip buy, afternoon panics.

There are good patterns and there are bad patterns

and there's no one right or wrong pattern.

But you can study the past and be better prepared.

And that way, you get the odds on your side.

Don't predict, react.

Bernd Leno reveals what Unai Emery told him when Petr Cech was in net | AFC News - Duration: 2:07.

Bernd Leno has revealed what Unai Emery said to him as he waited for his chance between

the sticks for Arsenal.

The German finally made his Premier League bow this weekend after a long wait on the

Gunners' bench.

When Petr Cech was forced off on the stroke of half-time against Watford, Leno was on

hand to show his boss Emery why he believes he deserves to be first choice.

The 26-year-old made a superb save to deny Troy Deeney to prevent the Hornets from going

in front.

Throughout Emery's decision to keep Cech as No 1, the Spaniard was honest with Leno

and told him where he stood.

"It's difficult to sit on the bench but the coach said to me, 'Don't be sad or

disappointed, just train hard'," said Leno.

"He has worked with many goalkeepers and it is a specialist position – it needs a

little bit more time for your personality, confidence and to get a feeling for the team.

"I was calm and worked hard every day and the coach gave me the time.

"It was a good start to save the first shot.

It was important for the team not to concede the first goal and of course it was good for

my confidence.

"Now Petr is injured, I have the opportunity to play more games and show the coach my quality.

"When I joined the club, he said he liked the style I play because he wants to play

different football than before but he did not say I was going to be No 1, No 2 or anything

else.

He just told me to focus on performance.

"Some weeks ago he told me to stay calm because I played for just one professional

club in Germany and it is a new country, a new language and everything is new for me.

My chance came here, and it was good."

When a player is captain, I analyse the player by the player perspective but also by the captain perspective

" Footage then emerged showing a tense encounter between Mourinho and Pogba at the Premier League club's Carrington training base, which the United boss has been forced to play down
