Hey guys this is Sari Taurez. This is Frankie Taurez. And we're the Pixel
Slayers. Today we have Super Mario Kart for the Super Nintendo - the manual mania
edition. Oh yeah yeah look at that artwork! Oh love this guy.
Love him! We actually have one of those hanging from our living room
ceiling. Yeah it's actually from our fan so if we need to pull the fan we just
pull this guy. So cute. And I like how the introduction's actually in his point of
view. My name is Lakitu. He usually just
throws crap at ya but now he's actually condoning racing safety I guess.
Yeah you see he's got a redemption story! Mm-hmm. Yeah he changed
his ways. He's so happy because he's a force for good now. Oh
yeah oh my gosh that classic Donkey Kong! This was - oh that's actually Donkey Kong
jr. I didn't know that! Oh I thought that was Donkey Kong. Yeah I guess Donkey Kong
jr. is who you're playing in here. Mmm. Interesting.
Yoshi's still a new character at this point, right? Oh yeah. This was 1993 so
this was two years after Mario World so people were just getting acquainted with
him still. That's crazy. And then you have a toad he's just so
happy. And Bowser is such a... jerk. Of course he is! Had to edit myself there. And that classic flag that they still
use today in like a lot of artwork for even new Mario Karts. Oh yeah. The funny
thing is is we just before this we filmed the Super Mario World manual
mania and it said Princess Toadstool - I think this was in the
transition between Toadstool and Peach because now it's just Princess. Yeah there
was like hmm I don't know. Maybe we should get this straight.
Let's just call her princess for now and then nobody will notice when we start
calling her Peach. I wish I had a little Koopa just to clean my house. Yeah.
Come on scientists get on this. Make Koopas real, and have them clean our house!
Not anyone else's house, just our house. Yes.
I'm kind of just flipping through some of these they're kind of text-heavy. Yeah
This one doesn't have as much unique art work as the
other manuals but if you if you want to read some of this you can
always pause it and take a look. Oh and here's the items. Oh yeah. Not as many as
later Mario karts of course but it's still a cool um concept. This was one of
the first games that incorporated this sort of item thing. Right? Yeah. With a racing game?
Definitely one of the first um there was a PC game that came out like a
year later called like Wacky Races or something I used to play it all time
because I didn't have a Super. Was it based off the cartoon? No it was some
was you know just like a throwaway PC game but it was like a Mario Kart ripoff.
This is nice. This is sort of based off the cartoon it almost looks like.
Yeah they're artwork for that box is just like amazing.
Yyeah. Is that the same as the box art? it's slightly altered, I think. Yeah, it's like
this comes first and then a second later it's this. We actually have
the Japanese version of the game so the box art is a little different.
Yeah, cartridge American manual Japanese game. We're worldwide. Yeah, why not? Oh, look at that.
conflict going on the other page there. Oh and some high-flying action through those
tight corners. Oh my gosh And look at Yoshi! Poor Yoshi, be nice to Yoshi! He's still finding his way. I like this! Lakitu will
take care of you anyways he's a nice guy! (He's good now! He's not bad!) So many people just have never read these things
like because we're so excited to play the game and there's so much awesome
stuff in these manuals. Oh yeah I love all of this. You know you're really we're really doing a
service! Oh yes we are and if you enjoyed this service why don't you... I'm just kidding.
I like how they categorize these. The Bros,
The Dragon and The Lady, the showdown. Oh he's like doing some stunts
there like he's like hangin'. Yeah the small guys... I think to this day I still
like playing Toad the best. Yeah, there are some sharp corners in this
game and it kind of helps having... what is this actually...?
This shows which character is the best for which which level. This is almost
like a mini strategy guide right here! You don't have to buy Nintendo Power for this. Yeah you can just pause this video so
save save your $19.95 a year or your $4.95 a month subscription for you and just
use this video. Yeah of course characteristics you of course got all
these different cups. What? Hmm I guess they can't really have a picture of a
hole? Here's all the courses. Yeah gosh these courses seems so simple now
compared to what we have Mario Kart 8. This is what they were. Oh I love this.
Hmm. And don't forget the warranty! I know don't forget it! And that of course was
the manual to Super Mario Kart! Zoom zoom... And I hope you enjoyed this video
