Hello and welcome back to Life's Biggest Questions, I'm Ron McKenzie-Lefurgey.

The Thunderbird is a popular figure in the mythology of tribes indigenous to North America.

Specific beliefs vary, but the idea of a bird bringing with it rain, thunder, and lightning

is very popular.

Most people nowadays believe it to just be a legend, but what if it was real?

What if there was a thunderbird flying around to this day?

Let's explore.

If you want more What If videos, check out our "Biggest What Ifs" playlist on the

channel.

Now get ready, it's time to ask the question: What if the Thunderbird was Real?

Specific beliefs about the Thunderbird vary a great deal from tribe to tribe, but it is

generally believed to be an enormous bird that causes thunder with the flapping of its

wings.

How big is this bird?

Well, according to some tribes, it's large enough to lift a killer whale from the water

like an eagle would carry a fish.

So, yeah, it's kind of a big deal.

Many iterations of the Thunderbird see it as a god-like creature, and while most believe

it brings thunder with it, other tales say that it is accompanied by lightning as well.

Some believed that it brought with it storms that would allow crops to grow, and plants

to bloom.

It's relatively easy to follow the logic that started this belief.

Thunder has long been assumed to be related to the gods or powerful beings.

And thunderstorms tend to become more prevalent at the beginning of Spring, when things begin

to bloom, crops grow, and animals return.

It makes sense that one would assume this great unexplained noise would be bringing

about the changes that come with Spring.

This is an example of the Post Hoc fallacy, where you assume that since something happens

after another thing, it must have happened because of the other thing.

But I digress.

Let's step away from the origins of the belief, and explore a world in which this

legend was actually true.

Believe it or not, this idea of a bird flying around changing the weather is not a first

for LBQ.

We previously did a video on the Pokemon Lugia, who brought about great winds as it flapped

its wings.

However, in Lugia's case, it would have caused significantly more destruction, and

it also had a home deep in the ocean.

So a world with a thunderbird could be rather different.

For one, the way we experience thunderstorms might change.

This would largely depend on one big question: Would ALL thunder and lightning be caused

by the thunderbird, or would the thunderbird simply cause additional thunder and lightning?

If the latter, then not much would change.

The vast majority of thunder and lightning we saw would be due to a natural phenomenon,

just like it is now.

So for the purposes of making a more interesting video, we'll assume this isn't the case.

So, if ALL thunder and lightning was caused by the Thunderbird, this would change the

way the world views the phenomena a great deal.

Every thunderstorm would have people rushing to their windows, hoping to catch a glimpse

of the Thunderbird, maybe even rushing outside to snap a sweet photo.

It would basically be like playing Pokemon Snap, with everyone trying to get the thunderbird

in the centre of the frame, doing a cool pose.

This would also change weather around the world a great deal, since there could only

be thunder occurring in one place at a time.

This would make these storms much less frequent, and would further exacerbate the scrambling

to get a good photo of the thunderbird, since you wouldn't know when your next chance

would be.

This would cause storms to be at once more predictable, and less predictable.

They would be more predictable because you could just follow the flight of the Thunderbird

to know where storms would hit.

However, the Thunderbird would probably change direction somewhat more than clouds, so you

might expect a storm to hit one place, but it will suddenly end up somewhere else entirely.

Of course, it should be noted that all this is assuming rain could still occur without

the thunderbird.

If rain also depended on the creature, this would have huge effects on the world, and

could result in drought if the bird didn't fly around evenly.

Human history would be greatly affected, especially if the Thunderbird had favourite areas to

visit.

Those places would become far wetter, with swamps and pools forming where none may have

been.

At the same time, areas avoided by the thunderbird would become very dry, with deserts forming

and new species migrating to or from them.

This would greatly affect the way human and animal populations were distributed, with

much greater density near bodies of fresh water.

In modern times, it's possible that we would attempt to work around this in a few ways.

For one, it's possible that we would attempt to draw the Thunderbird to places that needed

water.

If we found a way to attract it to certain areas, we could map out a path for it to follow

that would fit our needs.

It's also possible that this would spur on scientific development in the movement

of water, and drawing it from larger bodies to be used.

Transportation and procurement of water would be prioritized, in hopes of dealing with the

potential lack of rain.

Both these methods would be effective at getting water to populated areas experiencing drought,

but could also be very useful in changing certain environments to be more suitable for

life.

And now we return to our question: What if the Thunderbird was Real?

Well, if all thunder and lightning was caused by this bird flying around, it would change

the way we saw thunderstorms.

They would become a time of great glee, with people clamoring to snap a great photo of

the thing.

Storms would become less common, as they would simply follow in the wake of this great bird,

and could occur in just one place at once.

Furthermore, if rain also depended on the Thunderbird, ecosystems around the world would

change depending on its preferences.

This would change the distribution of animals around the world, and would lead to various

strategies made to acquire water, both through manipulation of the bird, and through scientific

means.

and maybe even inspired you to look into it further on your own.

Until next time, I'm Ron McKenzie-Lefurgey with Life's Biggest Questions, wishing you

the best of luck, on your quest for answers.

Doing their job Another important point to make is that the

effects of the Thunderbird would largely depend on its temperament.

If it was peaceful and benevolent to humans, as it was depicted in most indigenous stories,

then there's a good deal we could learn from it.

Not only would it be an incredible sight, it would be a scientific marvel to see a giant

bird that could create thunder with its wings.

We might even attempt to clone it, and create more thunderbirds.

This sounds dangerous, but with the way genetic science is going, it doesn't seem too far

off that we'd be able to rewrite the genes to slightly modify these thunderbirds to be

less destructive.

We could potentially create huge, domesticated birds that we could fly around.

Which, needless to say, would be freaking awesome, albeit rather unlikely.

On the other hand, however, if the Thunderbird wasn't quite so nice, it could be rather

destructive.

If it flew around cities, launching lightning this way and that, it would likely be hunted

to prevent further damage.

Unfortunately, given its huge size and impressive speed, catching it would be no small feat.

This would bring about a difficult decision: Do we try to kill the Thunderbird, and thus

remove thunder and lightning forever, not to mention killing a legendary creature?

Or do we allow it to survive, and accept the destruction caused when it flies through a

populated area?

This would be a difficult question, however it's possible that it would be moot, since

the Thunderbird could well be immortal, given its divine origin in some tales.

What was actually said between Monfils and Goffin during heated French Open exchange - Duration: 3:49.

Football News24/7 World number 37 Gael Monfils has explained away his apparent spat with Belgian David Goffin during their third-round match at the French Open yesterday

Tempers frayed at the end of the fourth set as the two took their seats next to the umpire during the change-over

Cameras caught the pair exchanging frank words in French after Monfils was apparently reprimanded by the umpire for taking too long to settle and serve between points

In his second-round match against the Slovakian Martin Klizan, Monfils had been warned for being too hasty between points, and the Frenchman undoubtedly felt that there was some inconsistency from the umpires in applying rules regarding timing between points

The entertaining, but sometimes volatile, Monfils perhaps felt he had a point to prove

Explaining that his frustration was with the officials rather than his opponent, Monfils said after the match: "When we changed side, I said that I took my time because the judge had told me yesterday I take too little time

"And then, today, he was telling me I take too much time. And so, the way I recover is different

I always have injuries, so I like to rest on my knees, so I can recover. "But what bothered me is that if I'm told to go faster, I go faster, and then I'm told to go slower

"And David told me, I'm sorry. I didn't know that. But as I told the umpire, I'm friends with David

So, I had nothing against David". Monfils' frustration is understandable and his outspoken reaction could renew calls for time violation rules to be shored up and consistently enforced

Goffin did not let the heated conversation affect his temperament, and the eighth seed went on to clinch an impressive 6-7, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 victory over his French rival

He will face Italian Marco Cecchinato in the round of 16 and is favourite to progress into the next round

Spiritualists who believe Jesus was an alien from Venus to go on pilgrimage to DEVON - Duration: 5:57.

The Aetherius Society was founded in the 95s by George King who says a voice told him he was to be the earthly representative of an inter-planetary parliament

Cabbie Mr King, who died in 997, claims to have had an unusual encounter with "Master Jesus" at Holdstone Down near Combe Martin in 958

The cult, which is described as a 'growing religion' with a global following now has groups in several countries around the world

And it is now organising a pilgrimage to its special place on Saturday, July 28 for what is called Operation Prayer Power

On its website, the society says the operation is a "a cosmic mission" devised by George King in which "spiritual power is invoked through prayer and mantra and directed into a specially designed physical container for later release"

Speaking in a previous documentary, Mr King described the experience of meeting Jesus at the top of Holdstone Down hill

He said: "It was very, very windy at the top of Holdstone Down. As a matter of fact it was quite dark by this time

"Dimly out of the corner of my eye I saw something in the sky. Then I saw a being which kind of appeared before me - I didn't see him walk up to me, I opened my eyes and he was there

"He was very tall, he was dressed in a long robe, he had long brownish hair – there was so much radiance around the man

"I knew, although he didn't tell me, I knew that he was Jesus and that he had come from the planet Venus – I didn't have to be told, I just knew this

"I think it was some sort of telepathic impression that I picked up. There was no denying it and there was no denying his presence

"Mr King said Jesus had arrived in a space craft and had "sent power through himself" to Mr King and into the mountain top at Holdstone Down

In the documentary he said that he was "told later by inter-planetary sources that this mountain was holy"

He continued: "That's why we use Holdstone Down because we really truly believe that it is holy

"The society continues this tradition to this day, with July's meeting followed by a social event at a nearby venue

According to the Aetherius Society, Holdstone Down is just one of several holy mountains – with another being located here in Devon at Yes Tor near Okehampton

Other holy mountains across the globe include Castle Peak in the Rocky Mountains near Colorado, Mount Ramshead in New South Wales, Australia, Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and Le Nid d'Aigle near Les Houches in France

According to their website, the society's beliefs cover a very wide spectrum of philosophy, religion, metaphysics and the spiritual sciences

It is described as a 'growing religion' with a global following that basically cherry picks from different belief systems from throughout the ages

They twist some details, add a New Age focus, and anchor everything in the teachings of founder Mr King, a Yoga-enthusiast-turned-author

On its official website it states that its "philosophy and teachings come largely from highly advanced intelligences from the higher planes of Mars, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn" but members say they view the society as "a spiritual brotherhood, dedicated to healing and service to mankind"

WWE has one strange rule with managers that is hard to believe - Duration: 4:37.

Football News24/7 Some insight into the way that WWE handles managers has surfaced online

Paul Heyman is no doubt one of the greatest managers in the history of pro wrestling and/or sports entertainment

He is right up there with the likes of Bobby Heenan and Freddie Blassie. Heyman's friendship with the reigning, defending, undisputed WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar started in the early 2000's when Lesnar signed with WWE after he graduated from the University of Minnesota

Lesnar, who is known to not be the greatest talker in the world, was paired up with Heyman after he was called up from OVW to the main roster

Heyman was his manager and mouthpiece. They truly are a good combination. Heyman talks while Lesnar backs up everything that his advocate has to say to hype the upcoming match

When Lesnar decided to come back to the WWE in 2012, he came alone, and that resulted in a mistake being made by the company

A few months into his second stint with WWE, the company signed Heyman and brought him back on television to be Lesnar's manager

This was a wise choice as Lesnar is the biggest star that the company has right now

Jimmy Jacobs, who was part of the WWE creative team, recently spoke with Fightful to talk about various topics including why the sports entertainment company decided to stop using male managers on television

"Managing got out of the spotlight somewhere in the '90's, the Attitude Era, when the era of the valet took over, in WWE in particular

From that respect, it's a lost art. Nowadays though, look at a guy like Paul Heyman, who's very, very, very good at what he does, who is as important to the Brock Lesnar package as Brock Lesnar is I dare say

I just think it's coming back. I think that for so long, it was a WWE policy." "WWE really sets the tone for everything else in this business – this kind of trickle-down effect

It was literally a policy, 'Hey, we don't hire male managers.' It's really just something that's just got going again, I think in the last handful of years

" It's been well documented that Jacobs is no longer employed by WWE. The infamous 'Bullet Club invasion' of Raw was cited as the possible 'straw that broke the camel's back

' Jacobs departed the company last year. What was confirmed about his departure was that there was a lot of heat on him for posting an Instagram photo of himself with Bullet Club members during the "invasion" at the Raw TV event in Ontario, California

End of the World 2018: What is the Rapture? Will the world end TOMORROW? - Duration: 5:25.

The end is nigh and the world will be destroyed tomorrow. That's what some Christian conspiracy theorists believe, as they analyse hidden codes in the Bible

A secret prophecy of the return of Jesus Christ and the rapture – or the second coming of Christ - is hidden in the book of Revelations, according to some theorists

Conspiracy theories suggests the end of the world has been predicted in astrological constellations appearing on November 23, connecting to a code in the book of Revelation 2:-2, which allegedly shows the Rapture is coming

Passage 2:–2 reads: "And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of 2 stars

She was pregnant and was crying out in birth pains and the agony of giving birth

" Christian theorists say the woman from the passage is Virgo. On April 23, the sun and moon will be in Virgo, as will Jupiter, which represents the Messiah

Experts at first dismissed this claim when they discovered this alignment happens every 2 years

However, the conspiracy theories claim another planetary alignment, representing "the Lion of the tribe of Judah', will mean this time the true Rapture will occur

End of the World 28: What is the Rapture? Will it strike on April 23?What is the Rapture? The Rapture is a term used by certain Christians to describe how the world will end

When the Rapture comes, Jesus Christ will return to the earth to bring all Christians up into the sky to protect them from the destruction of the world

The Messiah will rescue all Christian believers and take them up to heaven, before destroying the world and bringing about a thousand-year kingdom of God on earth

There are differing views among Christians regarding the timing of Christ's return, such as whether it will occur in one event or two, and the meaning of the aerial gathering described in Thessalonians 4

Many Christians do not believe in rapture-oriented theological views. Why will April 23 be the Rapture?Main Christian theorists suggest the Rapture will coincide with planetary constellations foretold in a hidden prophecy from the Bible

Christian conspiracy theorist David Meade is the main expert, suggesting the end of the world will arrive on April 23 when a mythological planetary systemknownas Planet X, or Nibiru, will appear in space

He claims it will then pass the Earth in October, causing the start of the Rapture with huge volcanoes and volcanic eruptions due to its gravitational force

He said: "During this time frame, on April 23,28the moon appears under the feet of the Constellation Virgo

"The Sun appears to precisely clothe Virgo… Jupiter is birthed on April 8, 28."The 2 stars at that date include the nine stars of Leo, and the three planetary alignments of Mercury, VenusandMars – which combine to make a count of 2 stars on the head of Virgo

"Thus the constellations Virgo, LeoandSerpens-Ophiuchus represent a unique once-in-a-century sign exactly as depicted in the 2th chapter of Revelation

This is our time marker." In an article entitled "Will the World end on 23 April",said: "As usual with any astrology (or Christian adaptations of it), one cherry-picks the stars that fit the desired conclusion
