Hey folks!
great you're watching again!
You've seen I've built a trike somewhile ago
Out of the front end of a VW Golf
and the front end of a Yamaha motorcycle
You were asking; when are you proceeding with the trike
see the weather;
excellent weather to work on a trike
in fact; better weather to drive a trike
But I need to finish it first
Take a look what I need to do
It suffered a bit the time it was parked here
This for example
The potato cannon did that
Lucky enough we don't need that steering wheel
we have a steer overthere now
So the windshield isn't important
Pain in the ass is that Diesel..
Attacked the fuel lines
See
All gnawed
Diesel preferes diesel lines
instead of petrol lines
Or maybe he preferes petrol lines
so he tried to eat those
That needs fixing
It's not finished too
There's no radiator
That important with this weather
Otherwise it will quickly overheat
and damage the engine
that would be a shame
Maybe I should fix this
The gear selector
I have a throttle cable if I'm correct..
Ah here it is
I need to attach that somewhere
This isn't handy
And when we're busy anyway
it might be an idea to fix a brake
would be safer
Fixate this steering wheel
it's fun if you can steer it with two persons
I could fix a second seat here
Or move the steering wheel forward, also good
A three wheel steered trike
Nobody has a three wheel steered trike
Maybe there's a reason..
maybe it will tip over.. we could find out
enough talking, let's get started
I'm going to fix the brake first
That's important
We have one brake overhere
That's the front brake
It's by far unsufficient to stop this thing
It starts sliding
it doesn't have enough ground pressure
It can't stop it
If I put it in 'Drive'
it's an automatic
It started to drive
and the front wheel is just sliding
That's dangerous, it doesn't work
What I thought
Rear wheel of the motorcycle has gone
Therefore we have a unoccupied pedal overhere
Further..
Have we overhere..
an excellent..
functional brake pedal
but since we don't have a seat
to sit on so we can push the brake
steering wheel also doesn't work like this..
this brake pedal is also useless
but what we have overhere..
Hey, hello! I'm the master brake cylinder!
I'm in this cosy place
Indeed! But not for long, master brake cylinder!
You have to move..
you move to...
~intermezzo~
there to the front
that's where you go
with a rod from there
extend the brake lines to there..
an easy job
the idea is finish, now build it
Nice second hand brake fluid!
I'm not going to throw it away
I'm going to put it back in later
don't do that on your good car
Brake fluid can take up water
water will mix into in the brake fluid
water will boil at 100 degrees C
brake fluid doesn't
what will happen;
If water starts boiling it will become steam
creating bubbles in the brake system
And steam can be compressed
so if you hit the brake;
You compress those steam bubbles
and your brake won't work
Therefore it's important to use good fluid in your car
But this good enough for this purpose
Mechanically it's done
but now the hydraulic part
Those brake lines aren't connect to the brake cylinder
I just unscrewed those
I have brake line overhere
It has no use, it's too short
But I need that nipple
I'm going to produce a new brake line
Brake fluid eats paint away
so if you spill it somewhere on your good car..
clean it!
Otherwise it will rust
That's one
and two
This one is too short
This copper tube is much longer
I can create flares with this tool
See the pieces I cut off
they have a flare on the end
That's where the nipple goes
This tube..
is just straight
let's flare it
put the nipple there first
Look at that
100 points!
both ends finished
let's mount it
puzzle it back in
it's more than long enough
Better too long than too short
This tube comes from the other side
cut it to length
our second hand brake fluid
Now the master brake cylinder has been mounted
fluid has been added
it's import to get rid of the air inside the systenm
Therefore we need to bleed the system
I need a small tube
I have it overhere
Windscreen washer hose
we don't need the windshield anymore
so we don't need the washer either
This is an excellent tube to bleed brakes
The bleeding valve is located on the highest point of the caliber
It's a nipple which works like a valve
if you untighten it, the air can come out
it's handy to put a hose on the nipple
so we can collect the drained fluid in a jar
there's the bleeding valve
that's loosened
put the hose on
Bleeding brakes
do it like this
Pump it
hold it
open the nipple
Pump it
Hold it
See the sputtering
that's air
You need to repeat those steps several times
until no more air comes out
then it's bled
You can feel it in the pedal too
if there's a lot of air in the system
The pedal will feel like pressing a spring
but if the air is gone
it will feel stiffer
and you can't press the pedal less far
This side is fine
now the other side
I can't reach the other side
My arm is not long enough.. that's an issue
I can't press the pedal
and untighten the nipple
I have a solution
didn't use a drop of new fluid
Well that looked interesting
but let's check if it works
that would be nice
I can't start it yet
My great friend Diesel, overthere..
gnawed the fuel lines
So I have to push it
what a shame..
Ho-irons
100 points
We can do a serious first drive soon
after I fixed the fuel tank
the radiator
throttle valve
after I made all of those
Hey folks!
Thanks for watching & see you next time
