My friends, fellow petrified hollows, my name is Sol also known as SolTheCleric, the Dark
Souls Pacifist and welcome back to yet another episode of my True Pacifist Run
of Dark Souls 2.
This episode will be almost entirely dedicated to optimization and especially to NPCs.
Specifically, in this episode alone, we'll be advancing the questlines of 9 NPCs, 5 of
which will turn out to be new merchants.
And their wares will prove to be crucial especially in the second part of the run.
The first NPC I'm talking about is Licia of Lindelt.
Licia not only sells a ton of useful miracles but also, since we've just raised our faith
stat to 30, she will give us the Saint's Set.
This set will significantly boost our curse resistance and that will surely come in handy
in a bit.
Thanks Milady and Umbasa!
Wait, wrong game... Uhm Vereor Nox or whatever...
The second NPC merchant is none other than Felkin the Outcast.
Felkin doesn't really sell anything particularly necessary for this pacifist run but, as we
raised both our intelligence and faith stats above 20, he'll give us the Hexer Set and
part of it (namely the hood and the boots) will be used as our final set of equipment
in the late game.
In the meantime though let's just stick with the Saint's set for now.
So, except for a Sublime Bone Dust, there's really not much here for us in Huntsman's
Corpse but I guess I might as well advance a couple of NPC sidequests in this area.
Let's make this quick.
Very well then.
So, right now I'm going to finally use the Fragrant Branch of Yore that I got in the
Bastille to un-petrify Rosabeth, (yet another merchant) and also progress Benhart's questline.
Benhart of Jugo is by far the strongest summon in the whole game and furthering his quest
is absolutely necessary to finish this pacifist run.
I'm sorry Rosabeth... the only clothes that I have to give you to replace your broken
ones are these... even more broken clothes.
Ok... now's the time to use the best spell in the game.
Yet again.
So, unfortunately, as you can see here, these phantoms in the Shaded Woods are completely
unaffected by Yearn and with a well timed back-stab they could easily one-shot me so
I'm going to postpone the exploration of this area for now.
I have a plan for this anyway...
This petrified Lion dude drops a key necessary to rescue yet another merchant: Ornifex but
I actually need to un-petrify him first so let's use our second Fragrant Branch of Yore
right here.
Where did he go?
Dude... come on.
And... there you go.
Best spell in the game guys.
Best spell.
OK then.
So if I just didn't use my second Branch on that Lion dude over there I could have used
it to obtain a basically free Lion Mage Set complete with another Fragrant Branch in same
chest and this specific set can significantly boost our casting speed but here's a problem
though: it's ugly.
Terrible.
And it would completely ruin my Cleric Fashion Souls.
I would never dare to invoke the power of gods in that skimpy outfit.
So I won't be getting it... at least for now...
I know of another way to speed up our casting speed anyway...
In the meantime, let's go to say to hi to both Manscorpion Tark and Darkdiver Grandahl
and, finally, attempt to rescue Ornifex.
Hello there.
Speaking with Tark here with the Ring of Whispers equipped will make his summonable for the
next bossfight and this guy's actually quite the talker if you ask me...
Uhm... better play it safe here...
These basilisks can easily kill her if I'm not quick enough.
Very good, now let's finally go back to Majula to upgrade our Estus Flask.
Now, the last step of this episode is to unlock yet another merchant and finally join our
ultimate covenant: the Blue Sentinels.
Let's go say hi to Sir Targray.
Very well then.
This optimization part is finally over and in the following episodes we'll face all of
the remaining early game bosses starting with Scorpioness Najka.
So, well, see you guys in episode 9.
This is SolTheCleric and peace out.
