China's special envoy has been updating South Korean officials on what was discussed between
the leaders of China and North Korea when they met in Beijing this week.
Yang Jiechi, who arrived in Seoul on Thursday, will brief President Moon Jae-in later today.
Our Cheongwadae correspondent Hwang Hojun reports.
The visit by the Chinese State Councilor shows Beijing does not intend to be left out of
the loop in the ever-changing inter-Korean relationship.
Yang Jiechi, a key Chinese diplomat and a member of the Politburo, met Thursday afternoon
with South Korea's National Security Adviser, Chung Eui-yong.
According to initial pool reports, South Korea's top security advisor expressed satisfaction
at the surprise bilateral summit between the leaders of China and North Korea.
"The Beijing-Pyongyang summit was significant.
It reaffirmed Pyongyang's commitment to the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula as
well to as the upcoming inter-Korean and U.S.-North Korea summits."
Chung also recalled his own visit to Beijing earlier this month as President Moon's special
envoy,... when President Xi said China and South Korea are on the same page when it comes
to critical issues concerning the Peninsula and expressed support for Seoul's policy of
establish lasting peace in the region.
Yang, in return, said the recent exchanges between Beijing and Pyongyang would only benefit
the upcoming summit.
We think Kim Jong-un's recent surprise visit to Bejing and his meeting with President Xi
Jinping will help the April summit between the two Koreas accomplish even more."
Amid the quickly changing situation, Yang stressed that both China and South Korea must
continue to closely communicate with each other and seek to develop their bilateral
relationship in accordance with the agreement reached by Presidents Moon and Xi.
Last December the two leaders agreed that war on the Peninsula would be unacceptable.
They also made a firm commitment to the Peninsula's denuclearization,... to work toward a peaceful
resolution of the North Korean issue through dialogue and negotiation,... and they agreed
on the benefits of improving inter-Korean relations to resolve such issues.
The meeting between Yang Jiechi and Chung Eui-yong turned into a dinner hosted by Chung
shortly after they wrapped up their talks.
Friday afternoon, Yang will pay a visit to President Moon Jae-in.
Meanwhile, regarding the fixed date of the much anticipated Seoul-Pyongyang summit in
April, the Blue House spokesperson said this afternoon that the South Korean government
will put its utmost efforts into preparing for it, especially now that they have a fixed
date.
He also said that he hopes the April summit will become a turning point in establishing
peace on the Peninsula and called for the public's unified support for a successful
summit.

Moscow expels U.S. diplomats, shuts consulate in tit-for-tat move - Duration: 2:08.
Russia has announced the expulsion of more than 150 diplomats, including 60 Americans,
in a tit-for-tat response to the West's move over the poisoning of a former Russian spy
in England.
Ro Aram reports.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Thursday that Russia is expelling 60 U.S.
diplomats and officials in retaliation for identical U.S. measures announced earlier
this week.
They have one week to leave and the U.S. consulate in St Petersburg will also be shut in retaliation
for the closure of the Russian consulate in Seattle.
"U.S. ambassador Mr. (Jon) Huntsman has been invited to our ministry, where my deputy Mr.
(Sergei) Ryabkov briefs him on our response to the US.
These measures include the expulsion of the same number of diplomats.
And this includes our decision to withdraw the licence for the U.S. consulate in St.
Petersburg"
Lavrov has blamed Washington for leading the mass expulsion of Russian diplomats in the
West, and said Moscow will enforce similar measures on countries that joined it.
U.S. State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said the Russian move was unjustified.
"I want to remind you that there is no justification for the Russian response.
Our actions were motivated purely by the attack on the United Kingdom…..
So we are reading this.
We are reviewing it and we'll respond accordingly."
More than two dozen nations have joined the UK in pointing the finger at Moscow for the
nerve agent attack on Sergei Skripal and his daughter in Salisbury earlier this month.
The Kremlin has repeatedly denied involvement and Lavrov again described the actions against
his country as provocative.
He added Russia is also seeking a meeting with the leaders of the Organisation for the
Prohibition of Chemical Weapons to discuss the case.
Meanwhile, doctors treating Sergei Skripal's daughter Yulia say she is recovering quickly.
She is known to be conscious and speaking, but her father remains in critical condition.
British police believe the Soviet-era Novichok nerve agent had been left on the front door
of Mr. Skripal's home in Salisbury.

Man From Banned Middle Eastern Nation Tried To Enter The US When Trump Took IMMEDIATE Action - Duration: 3:27.
Man from banned Middle Eastern nation tried to enter the US when Trump took
immediate action CNN won't report this president Donald Trump's critics were
shocked when they saw what happened as a band Muslim was granted a visa to enter
the United State the man is an Iranian who was granted a US visa to visit
America in hopes to donate bone marrow to his brother who is suffering from
blood cancer this is a very rare waiver that people get but there was a much
deeper issue at hand and president Trump saw it and took care of it there might
be restrictions on travel from multiple countries that bar people entering the
United States but something much bigger than a travel restriction was at stake
here the Iranian man is kami are Hashimi and he was determined to be a 100% match
for a bone-marrow transplant that could save his brother's life who has blood
cancer when someone's life is at stake and there's a chance to save them then
it's good to know that the Americans responsible for making a decision have
allowed the travel so the bone marrow transfer can be conducted and hopefully
save the man's brother the hill reported more about the temporary travel visas
submitted to the traveling Muslim men an Iranian man has been granted a US visa
allowing him to travel to the country in hopes to donating bone marrow to his
brother reuters reported Friday that came er Hashimi an Iranian citizen had
been granted a rare waiver to president Trump's travel ban which bars people
from Iran and seven other countries from coming to the US Hashimi had applied for
the visa at the US consulate in Yerevan Armenia in February after discovering
that he was a 100% match for a bone marrow transplant that could save the
life of his brother a US citizen who has blood cancer
initially the State Department's website showed that Hashim ease visa application
had been refused but the man's lawyer Massa Ken Bobby told Reuters that she
received a call on Thursday that Hashimi had been granted a waiver to the travel
ban and that he should make arrangements to pick up the visa in Armenia it's
unfortunate that so much effort had to go into getting just one clearly urgent
visa approved Ken Bob I told Reuters there are thousands of people stuck also
with urgent cases with no idea what is happening
travel ban which bars most people from Chad Iran Libya Somalia Syria Yemen
North Korea and Venezuela from coming to the u.s. was allowed to go into effect
in December after months of legal challenges according to Reuters the
State Department has approved 375 waivers to the ban though it is not
clear how many people applied in total president Trump has many leftist critics
who claim he is racist homophobic and many other words ending in OBE andest
President Trump just made a huge point that hammers home the nail in the head
of the Democrats as he proves that he will go against his own travel
restrictions if there's a very good reason Trump lost a brother and he knows
what it's like to lose someone that might be close to him Trump probably
admires that this man is willing to donate his bone marrow to help save his
brother and there's not much reason to deny a visa that could potentially save
a life

Could Citizens United Force Candidates To Accept Corporate Money? - Duration: 2:55.
Next question we have here from Twitter comes from @P_McEnroe who asks, "Do you think it's
possible given the #CitizensUnitedRuling that politicians who don't accept corporate PAC
money could be forced to do so, on the grounds that not doing so violates Freedom of Speech?"
Yeah, actually.
That is a phenomenal point and it's absolutely plausible that could happen.
If corporations say that their money is free speech and a politician or wanna be politician
running for office says, "I will not accept your money."
That could be seen as a violation of free speech, and that's terrifying to think about.
What's also terrifying to think about is the fact that when you hear a story about a politician
who's not taking any corporate money it makes headlines.
That's how rare it is in this country today.
I mean, that's sad.
That's pathetic.
I remember, again, when we first started this 14 years ago doing stories about these corporations
donating money to politicians and at the time, it was, "Oh my God.
They gave this guy $5,000."
Well, now they're giving them hundreds of thousands of dollars through these super PACs
and you can see the result in this legislation.
But my question and this is what an attorney who if this ever goes in front of the court
again needs to argue is that how can money be free speech when it's not universally guaranteed?
You can't guarantee a right unless everybody has access to it.
So if money is speech, then everybody should be entitled to money, right?
That kind of goes together.
I don't know why that argument wasn't made in the first Citizens United ruling, but it
needs to be made now because if a corporation can give $100,000 to a politic campaign through
a super PAC, yet a guy like me can only afford to send a $10 donation, that's not equal.
That's not us having the same size microphone here.
That's them having one thousand times the amount of free speech that I have.
There is nothing fair about the system under Citizens United and I feel like those arguing
against it when it went in front of the Supreme Court screwed us over royally because this
seems like it would've been a pretty easy issue to nail to the ground if only a competent
attorney had been there arguing against money being considered
free speech.
