Auto news on Youtube Jun 7 2018

breaking news this is what we told you that we were watching before the the

commercial break there and now we see the Vice President of the United States

Mike Pence there on the dais with other veterans and members who've been invited

today the president is about to sign the VA mission Act today in the Rose Garden

that we're looking at right now so we anticipate with the vice president

already out there that the president will be joining him shortly that's

usually the TIC talkin of all these things and people have been seated there

for quite a while so this was supposed to happen right about now and as it

comes together I can tell you that new VA health plan that the president will

be signing counters what has been critically written about just this

weekend last week a choice program that doesn't seem to be working but even with

this choice program that the president would sign today the other one will

still be in place for another year while they roll that in but this is a big deal

the veterans there you know the story with the VA and how some had suffered on

waiting lists and even died this addresses people being able to have more

of a choice after serving this nation as it happens live and the president steps

up we'll go straight to it Kennedy very good here's a Fox News Alert president

Trump declaring a quote great night for Republicans as we get results from

primaries in eight states and that includes the big one California where

President Trump threw his support behind a Republican businessman who has

captured a top spot in a critical race there a lot of focus right now on

California where Democrats were able to avoid getting shut out of some of those

key congressional races by securing second-place finishes in every House

race that they're targeting come November and in the race for California

governor Republican businessman John Cox earning a chance to go up against

Democratic lieutenant governor Gavin Newsom President Trump threw his support

behind Cox who spoke earlier on America's newsroom watch this state is

wonderful and we've got to change the regime in in Sacramento get the special

interests out of power and return this State to the great Golden State of those

well that message resonate this morning president Trump tweeting quote great

night for Republicans congratulations to John Cox on a really big number in

California he can win even fake news CNN said the Trump impact was really big

much bigger than they ever thought possible so much for the big blue wave

it may be a big red wave working hard Peter Doocy live from beautiful Del Mar

California's mother in the south coast of San Diego what's going on Peter

Kennedy even though Democratic candidates came in second place and some

House districts they really want to flip to try to take back the house that's

good enough for now because they made it to the ballot according to the

Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee who just sent us this as we

await final results in multiple districts it's clear the Democrats are

in a stronger position than ever to take back the house and winning districts in

California will be central to that path turnout was relatively soft here

yesterday just twenty one point eight percent statewide despite weeks of

television ads blanketing the airwaves and campaign Flyers clogging mail boxes

up and down the west coast there was also a major primary day problem in LA

County where a printing issue left 118 thousand voters names off the rolls the

Registrar tried to warn anybody whose name was missing

to file a provisional ballot but for anybody who didn't get the message by

8:00 last night no way to cast a ballot now as for the Senate primary that's

gonna be between longtime Democratic incumbent Dianne Feinstein and the more

liberal state senator Kevin de Lyonne as the Democrat for governor Gavin Newsom

is already signaling the anti-trump tone his campaign is going to take where a

state where we don't criminalize diversity we celebrate diversity we

invest in children just sessions invest in children where we don't tear them

from the loving arms of their mothers and their fathers but now California

voters who may actually like President Trump have a candidate for governor

themselves John Cox and it wasn't Donald Trump that passed the sanctuary State

Gavan you did that you're the one that's protecting ms-13 you're the one that's

making our communities less safe so the Golden State did not take a

really hard left turn or right turn in the primary last night that means that

now voters have a few more months to decide how they want California to be

ruled for the next few years Kennedy an interesting place beautiful day thanks

so much Peter all right so let's talk about this gavin newsom obviously has

some grand aspirations here he has taken a pledge that he's not gonna run for

president in 2020 but he's certainly looking beyond the Statehouse in

Sacramento how do you think this race is going to play out and do Republicans

stand a chance I think they have a chance more chance than they've had in

recent years because the combination of the massive gas and tax increase

gasoline in parts of California is now $5 a gallon the sixty five percent of

Californians say that the state's too expensive in terms of cost of living

yeah Newsom is running with a commitment to

both raise the income tax and raise the property tax and he's proposing to have

a government-run health system which will be wildly expensive so I think if

cops can penetrate with a message just about the cost of being in California

and that Newsom is the problem and if he can take every Newsom attack on Trump

and turn it back into a let's talk about California so I think this could become

a much closer I wouldn't get too excited about that one gavin newsom you were

pointing us out tweeted in response to Donald Trump's tweet about good night

for California he says please come campaign for him Donald Trump as much as

possible bill hemmer interview this morning with mr. Cox and I would just

say this he can do the things that you're talking about because we watched

him do it live on Fox News this morning I mean he he talked all about that

spending and the legacy of that spending and the problems with that spending

right now in the context of questions about sanctuary cities and all of that

sort of thing and he did that pivot from the criticism on the president that

you're talking about so I know it's it's one interview it was the first one that

I've seen of him live since you know kind of taking on Newson

um but it's interesting I mean News and as part of that apparatus in California

that's very tough to beat well it'll be interesting to meet cards

there there are a lot of Democrats in this state yeah I've Newsom has already

won a state white race he is the lieutenant governor he's incredibly well

known he beat Antonio Villaraigosa who should have been a formidable opponent

Antonia velar goes to out Spence John Cox and it didn't matter he didn't

even get half the vote yeah that Cox got so you know is it just a foregone

conclusion for Newsome or does he actually have to run closer to the

middle to get some of those counties who don't like his San Francisco past or his

support for things like the Train of nowhere the high-speed train that's not

high speed and it does not connect LA with San Francisco I mean California is

a democratic state the head wins against someone like the Republican candidate

for governor are incredibly strong and just from a you know numbers game there

are a lot of Democrats and these are liberal Democrats in California now what

was interesting is in California in parts of California but what was

interesting is Dianne Feinstein I have a lot of military families faces everyone

want a usability and and that's right practical addressing a vision everyone

was saying that Dianne Feinstein was gonna have the serious challenge from

this very very liberal Democrat that ran against her who got like 10 percent of

the vote so yes California is liberal but I

actually do think there's a more moderate Democratic Party that still

voted almost 50% for Dianne Feinstein that will help Newsom there just aren't

enough Republicans especially if if Cox aligns himself with Donald Trump who is

incredibly unpopular even among California Republican okay but I will

say this about Cox if he actually can run the kind of campaign in the general

that he's talking about which is civil and race issue based he can reach some

of those more conservative Democrats and there are a lot of independents and Cal

people that don't want higher taxes don't want to live in sanctuary cities

there are a number of them in California I would really love for this fight to be

competitive between Cox and Newsome I think it'd be just interesting for the

country to watch but I think the midterms and Speaker you can speak this

as well it's gonna be a lot about Donald Trump you're gonna have the Democrats

many of them running against him and the Republicans wanting to side right with

and want him to visit they're States and he wants to I think

Trump wants deeply mansion in West Virginia I saw today it's a very red

state and Donald Trump won that hands down he's saying that he would break in

here excuse me Abby but the president has just

you

California's 'Jungle Primary,' Flooded with Money, Dominated by Establishment Candidates - Duration: 4:19.

Californian voters took to the polls on Tuesday, June 5 for one of the most closely watched

primaries leading up to the 2018 midterm elections.

This primary saw a record number of spending, and tested the unique electoral system adopted

by California.

It also highlighted the wave of new progressives who have been inspired by Bernie Sanders to

run for office.

California adopted a top-two primary system in 2010, which is also popularly referred

to as the "jungle primary."

Under this distinctive system, the two candidates who win the most votes, regardless of party,

are the ones who face off against each other in the November election.

Because of this model, analysts had warned the large number of Democrats running could

split the vote.

Fox News even salivated over the possibility of two Republicans running against each other

in California.

FOX NEWS HOST: It allows the top two vote-getters, regardless of party, to advance.

And so the problem may be that Democrats have so many people running this time around, that

it could split the vote and Republicans could end up benefiting.

Right?

FOX NEWS GUEST: Yeah, while it's funny.

Democrats loved this idea when they adopted in 2009, but they may not be loving it so

much tonight.

Because the issue is, is that they have so many Democrats running in these individual

races, and Republicans are really solidified between one, two, or three candidates, and

so if two republicans are the top two vote-getters, then no Democrats make it to the November

election.

BEN NORTON: With the results in, however, it appears those fears were exaggerated, and

it looks like many of the key races pit a Democratic against a Republican.

Partially because of this unique system, outside spenders flooded the state with money in an

attempt to manipulate the primary.

More than $108 million were spent just on candidates for the House of Representatives.

That is over double the $58 million spent in the 2016 election cycle.

Huge sums of money were also poured into the closely followed race for governor.

Liberal Democrat Gavin Newsom, California's current lieutenant governor, will be facing

off against Republican businessman John Cox, who has repeatedly been endorsed by Donald

Trump.

Newsom says he supports universal healthcare, LGBT equality, and marijuana legalization,

and is sometimes characterized as a progressive, although he has centrist leanings.

Newsom defeated his more right-wing Democratic rival Antonio Villaraigosa.

Wealthy backers of charter schools spent $14 million in less than a month to try to boost

Villaraigosa over Newsom.

In the week before the primary, rich charter school supporters spent at least $2.3 million

on ads attacking Newsom, portraying him as lazy.

In the primary races for the House of Representatives, several incumbent progressive representatives,

including Ro Khanna and Ted Lieu easily came in first, and will likely be holding on to

their seats.

Yet so too will neoliberal corporate Democrats, like Nancy Pelosi, who barely faced a challenge.

At the same time, several progressive candidates who were endorsed by the groups Our Revolution

and Justice Democrats and who refused to take corporate PAC money also made the cut.

Ammar Campa-Najjar came in second in inland San Diego.

And the progressives Audrey Denney and James Elia came in second as well.

Critics have spoken out against this top-two primary system, noting it isolates third-party

candidates and makes it even more difficult for lesser-known candidates to get elected.

This model incentivizes both major corporate parties to unite behind moderate, centrist

candidates, and reduces the chances of grassroots progressives defeating Democrats who have

more corporate funding.

Yet at the same time, analysts' dire warnings did not materialize.

Women made important electoral gain, and Republicans did not monopolize races that had many Democratic

candidates.

For the most part, it looks like November will see another conventional midterm election,

featuring establishment candidates from both corporate parties.

Tomi Lahren: A Trump endorsement works even in California - Duration: 7:33.

so the big news out of last night John Cox Republican going up for governor I

think it's a sign that there are a number of people in California that are

wanting some real change well you know we didn't expect huge victories in the

state of California at least for the Republicans we knew that that wasn't

going to happen but seeing a Republican on the ballot for governor especially

with the way that this state runs its primary is significant for us and it

also shows that a Trump endorsement works even in the liberal state of

California a trump endorsement means something I believe it has a lot to do

with immigration also taxes regulations but moving forward we're gonna have to

fight but we're ready to do it well one of the things Tommy is I know

Republicans had worried that unless a Republican finished in the top two it

would be to Democrats for that big state office and then with the other

congressional races and stuff like that what would turn people out thankfully

for the Republicans they said last night we've got a Republican at the top and so

people are going to go out and vote and it's gonna be better for us and maybe

that blue wave might be actually a little red well what I hope that last

lot yesterday and today and ongoing is going to show Republicans in this state

is that we have to turnout we have to be vocal we have to make sure that we're

voting we succeeded yesterday and making sure that we have John Cox on the ballot

making sure that we can propel him forward but that doesn't mean that the

fight is over we have to continue he has to make sure that his messaging is very

clear to Californians we want to make a change I think we're gonna do it it's

gonna be a tough battle we know in this state Gavin Newsom is gonna be the

favorite but we have a chance for first time in a long time we have a chance

well here's the thing in terms of the house there's about seven content area

contentious fights there and a lot of people believe the house will go

Democrat or Republican depending on what happens in California with Daryl I so

seat and Dana Rohrabacher seat and so far the jungle primary has not yielded

solid Democrats who were solid Republicans for that but it got quite

close because there's so many Democrats who felt as though they wanted to run

for that seat it diffused a la of the votes so it allowed war backer

and others to stay up top yeah perhaps they got a little too excited with their

blue wave and it actually ended up helping out some Republicans but hey

there are some things in the state that we can look at the small victories we're

going to take we have a California state senator who was facing recall because of

his vote for again a higher gas tax so that just shows that Californians are

upset with the high taxes were upset with failed immigration policies and no

border enforcement we're tired of over-regulation we're tired of

unaffordability so this is a good sign small victories but we'll take them all

right tell me a lot of folks the media been having a field day about where on

earth Melania Trump is and we might have just hit rock bottom with one reporter

from The Rolling Stone Jamil Smith we just read you his tweet he says I wish

that I didn't suspect that the prolonged poorly explained public absence of

Melania Trump could be about concealing abuse I wish that it was a ludicrous

prospect I wish that the president wasn't a man with a history of abusing

women including those to whom he is married no sources nothing to back this

up welcome to 2018 by the way that's not true but go ahead right well we hear

journalists we hear the mainstream media often complain that drunk attacks then

that Trump goes after them that they're losing credibility because of this

president no I'm sorry they're losing credibility because of things like that

to advance something so ridiculous like that and put that out there with no

sources no facts just to speculate on that that's the reason that the American

public does not trust the mainstream media does not trust journalists to put

something out there like that I don't care if you're anti Trump that's one

thing but when you go as far as to say that Melania might be abused and that's

what we haven't seen her in a while and she's just suffered an illness and a

surgery that's ridiculous and I hope the American people are looking at this and

watching it as a further again Trump derangement syndrome

yeah and just real quick what what would happen to that writer if they had said

that about Michelle Obama well that writer wouldn't be working any

more there would be an outrage over this began we know that the double standards

the only standard the left operates on and they're really hurting themselves at

the end of the day when they advance this ridiculousness

I think most Americans are smart enough to know that it's ridiculous and they

look at this and this writer I believe has lost a lot of credibility because of

it yeah unbelievable this is not someone with an egg on Twitter this is an actual

moochick someone that works for the Rolling Stone unreal Tommy good to have

you with us this morning

you

so many accomplishments almost every 24 to 36 hours there's another one since

he's become president all these little things hundreds of them people could go

through and see the media doesn't talk about those things do you see and the

media can spin up all these stories they want but what's funny about it the more

they do it the more Trump continues to rise well this coming the same day White

House press secretary Sarah Sanders got into a tense exchange with reporters

grilling her about the drafting of the Trump Tower memo and questioning her

credibility here's how she hit back watch frankly I think my credibility is

probably higher than the media's I think that if you spent a little bit more time

reporting the news instead of trying to tear me down you might actually see that

we're working hard trying to provide you good information and trying to provide

that same good information to the American people you know speaker there

has been talk recently about whether we even need White House press briefings

every day that maybe some of them should be in an office and not all televised

because it looks like some of the reporters might be doing a little

grandstanding I can't even imagine that look I advocated but the very beginning

of this administration that they just get rid of the whole thing really

here's what I mean when I say you're the whole thing you have a relatively small

number of reporters who are important because they're in the White House and

they're very precious and they sit around on top of each other all day and

deep down they resent the fact that their voice they're at the beck and call

of the president existed or just as much existed for at least I think since

Kennedy television my point just you know there are a thousand ways to

communicate with the American people you don't owe the American people having 50

or 60 women you have three or four clowns who insist on getting in fights

with her and they're only important because they get in fights with her on

social media because they can clip that piece of video and it becomes clickbait

and and look if anybody doesn't think that's happening check out some 12

point you know I understand that every politician wants to get their side of

the story out that that's a natural inclination I rolled my eyes when

Hillary Clinton did it and I don't think it's necessary here to have a website

for that the president has been very adept at using Twitter for that he's got

over 50 million Twitter followers and you know he essentially directs the

media wherever he wants them to go and I like these exchanges I like any sort of

an open forum where the ideas can get out I also like that I think Sarah

Sanders does a very good job at keeping us tight and swatting people down I

think she's got an incredibly difficult job and it's easy for certain people in

that room to gang up on her and I think you know her comportment is actually

much better than some of the people who preceded her not just in this

administration but in others but for the reason that she's there that long I

think speaks it to how good she's been they have it the reporters have every

right to ask about certain questions like that Don Jr meeting why were they

dishonest from the beginning I think the rates and balances is an important thing

but there's also something else going on and you make that point Speaker that

they are such a rush to find all the negative that the president is doing the

perfect example was April Ryan yesterday they threw this birthday bash when the

Eagles when he disinvited them from the White House on the South Lawn and she

tweeted out that they were a bunch of booze to the president she had to delete

that tweet because it wasn't accurate but in the moments that that tweet was

up there were thousands and thousands of retweets because people wanted to

believe that narrative they wanted to know that something was bad against the

person has a credibility problem that she should answer for all right we want

to break in with us now we knew that this was coming together Fox News has

confirmed that Alice Marie Johnson who was serving a life sentence for a

nonviolent drug crime her sentence has been commuted that is different than a

pardon in just the specific way that life sentence will wipe away and she

will go free however a pardon would have completely wiped away any conviction and

given her full forgiveness the president has been on kind of a roll for pardons

and the sort of thing I want to ask the speaker about this do we have time

before the commercial break okay speaker you're a response well I think that the

president has found something he likes to do that

proves the lives of people and that clearly is his constitutional authority

and I think that he takes a certain personal pleasure in being able to help

people now some media are writing that this is

after the visit of Kim Kardashian who was at the White House last week talking

about prison reform and about this sort of sentence saying imagine she yeah

exactly you're absolutely right and and she has every right to take one specific

issue and one specific person because the problem with celebrities is when

they go to broad and assume that everyone agrees their philosophy that's

and it's problematic she found one case that she championed and she's right

about this Alice Johnson going free on a non-violent drug offense the president

giving her a commutation we'll be right back

as mesothelioma I urge you to call call 879 eight nine

five one two welcome back to outnumbered we have a brand new book to tell you

about authored by our very own welcome lucky guy Trump's America it is on sale

now it is number six on Amazon so log on and get it while it's hot for your

summer reading Newt Gingrich the author is there room in Trump's America for

people who did not vote for the president of course I mean first of all

all Americans are Americans however they vote even if they don't vote but the

real point of Trump's America is that there are huge achievements and underway

that the elite media doesn't particularly want to carry and that it's

important to recognize how many different fronts from conservative judge

ships to deregulation to the economy are really moving forward and then the

second half of the book is the great challenges it faces I mean but we only

scratch the surface of the level of reform we need to really get what we're

going to go and my hope is that trumps America will be part of the contribution

to that conversation this year what do you think the biggest thing people

misunderstand about the president cuz you know him so well I think two things

one he's really really smart and people don't understand that because his style

doesn't isn't what we think of as smart and two there's a huge difference

between Trump on big issues where he's amazingly stable and on little things

where he is just over the board and at least 10% I'm

hurting himself there's this very big difference in the

two ways he approaches things all right very good

the great Booker thank you so much from you on the couch today and I thought

lucky we've got more outnumbered in just a moment stay right here

thanks so much to Newt Gingrich all right what's your favorite part about

your book the fact that it talks about how America's becoming great again very

good and the great news is we are back right here tomorrow noon eastern and now

here's harris faulkner let's begin with what's developing this hour new

questions for James Comey ahead of a bombshell inspector general's report

will go out number two overtime now i'm harris faulkner

the Justice Department's internal watchdog has reportedly concluded former

FBI director James Comey defied Authority at times during the Hillary

Clinton email investigation what does that mean it is according to ABC News

which says the draft report explicitly uses the word insubordinate to describe

James commies behavior all this is fired deputy FBI director Andrew McCabe is

seeking immunity from the Senate Judiciary Committee in order to testify

on that inspector general's report we'll hear from a house from a member of House

Judiciary Committee congressman Matt gates in just a moment first I want to

get all the news that's been happening in the last hour or so chief

intelligence correspondent Catherine Herridge breaks it all down Catherine

well thank you Harris Fox News is working to independently confirm that

report that the Inspector General did find evidence that former FBI director

James Comey was found to be insubordinate and went outside the chain

of command based on our ongoing reporting we understand one of the

primary episodes the Inspector General was investigating was his decision in

July of 2016 you see the event here where you did just a moment ago to

publicly announce the findings of the FBI investigation that used the code

acronym my E or mid-year exam and that he was recommending against criminal

charges that's the key development there because typically that decision would be

under the purview of the attorney Loretta Lynch but that was a

responsibility that your director Comey took upon himself also in a separate

development Fox News has obtained these congressional letters that show the

former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe who worked directly for James Comey

wants a special status if he testifies before the Senate Judiciary Committee

later this month about that same Inspector General's

report this special status is called youths immunity and under those

conditions McCabe's testimony cannot be used

against him in a criminal prosecution that matters because the Inspector

General found that McCabe lied under oath and there was a criminal referral

to the US Attorney here in Washington DC for potential violations of 18 USC 1001

that's lying to federal investigators this morning a senior Senate Republican

who sits on the Judiciary Committee recommended against a deal to secure

McCabe's testimony we really need to get to the bottom of what happened at the

FBI during the Comey years where apparently

there was misconduct going on which i think is really important for sment

agency in the world and we need to clear the air and so I think giving mr. McCabe

cover through immunity would be a mistake

McCabe's lawyer said in a quote McCabe is willing to testify but because of the

criminal referral he must be afforded suitable legal protection adding that if

he were unable to get such a deal McCabe will have no choice but to invoke his

Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination based on the timing

this continues to be a very fluid situation as you know Harris there is a

date on the calendar for Monday next week for open public testimony in front

of the Senate Judiciary Committee that's the lead committee for the inspector

general's report but based on what we've learned in the last 24 hours it does

appear that that date is likely to slip yet again Harris well and we've seen

some delays Catherine and lawmakers that I've been talking with have said you

know they want a chance for that report to come out obviously before they would

hold that here and so they'll does a way to if I can just yeah just a warning

based on what we know it's a very lengthy report somewhere in the

neighborhood of 500 pages and people who sit on the

San Judiciary Committee field they need at least a couple of days to adequately

comb through the report they so they can add asked great questions for the

inspector general Horowitz and he can defend appropriately defend his findings

here ensure interesting 500 pages depending on how much of it leaks okay

right now we're wrong nothing and I just if I could say one other thing on that I

I think that's pretty significant because we're in a phase right now where

the principal's who cooperated are allowed to review the findings and then

make their case or their best argument against what the conclusions are I think

one of the key things is that we haven't had a lot of leaks about the findings

and the parties who would have that information may feel that it's pretty

damaging and they're trying to you know shape the outcome to the extent they can

with their version of what happened it's very interesting I'm gonna bring it up

with my first guest Catherine great well thank you

Republican congressman Matt Gaetz of Florida sits on the House Judiciary

Committee boy this story has come together quickly and Catherine Harridge

and I you may have heard we're just talking about the leaks that helped

bring this about let's start with the word insubordinate

that apparently that we've learned about James Comey through these leaks

insubordinate from that inspector general's report what do you make of it

well I am eager to discuss that Harris but first if you'll afford me a

privilege I am the son of a military brat and in my district we have more

members of the active-duty military than any other congressional district in

America and your new book will ring true in their lives and I just wanted to

thank you for it how military brats can meet challenges and adversity with grit

and determination it really is going to be special for my family and for so many

families in my district as it relates to mr. Comey obviously we've seen

circumstances where he's exceeded his authority we also can't make sense of

his public testimony that he had not made a decision on the Hillary Clinton

investigation until after conducting the key elements of that investigation later

we find out that drafts of his exoneration statement were done earlier

but look at Washington DC was the swamp and

McCabe might be the Loch Ness monster of the swamp and when we look at what he's

doing now I mean Andrew McCabe is literally asking for immunity before

testifying under oath so that he's not prosecuted for a whys that he told

previously while testifying under oath I think it would be outrageous for us to

grant any type of use of immunity to mr. McCabe I think he needs to account for

his actions and I don't think that he's out of the woods yet as far as a

criminal prosecution well first of all thank you for the comments on the

military brats in my book I'm very grateful

III do want to talk though about this idea and I wrote it down you said McCabe

might be the Loch Ness monster of the swamp why do you think it is he would

try to put himself in a position where he could talk without immunity if he had

planned to tell that I mean has he been dishonest is there a reason why he'd be

seeking it well Andrew McCabe is a proud guy that doesn't make him an honest guy

I was in the room when he gave testimony behind closed doors to the House

Judiciary Committee and I could tell you my reaction to that was that this is

someone who wasn't purely engaged in the investigative work of the FBI he was

trying to shape public opinion remember Harris what the substance of

the lies were about he was leaking to The Wall Street Journal about the nature

of the Hillary Clinton investigation wanting to shape public opinion and so

Andrew McCabe may want to testify to again try to shape public opinion but we

should not give him immunity because my goodness this was the very

person who sent the email taking the jurisdiction away from the Washington DC

field office and bringing it to the rest of the swamp creatures and deep state

folks at the headquarters of the FBI I think we ought to stand with the front

line FBI folks and empower them not empower the bureaucrats that want to

shave public opinion through leaks you know you talk about Andrew McCabe as the

guy who might have some answers though because remember when James Comey first

came out on his book door we learned from a cave that they maybe weren't in

agreeance about what really happened with going to the media and leaking

things perma cave that he said his boss knew all about that so are you missing

an opportunity by not offering him that that special status of immunity to have

him turn on his boss potentially with some information that you might need

well I don't want to make the same mistakes the Obama Justice Department

made remember the Obama Justice Department gave these broad immunity

deals to Cheryl Mills and Heather Samuelson those folks who were key

Hillary Clinton allies so we want to get away from that environment so that we

could truly hold people accountable we're gonna have to get to the emails

and I want to specifically know who told Andrew McCabe to send the email telling

the Washington DC field office to stop working on the Hillary Clinton

investigation was that James Comey was it Andrew McCabe himself did it have

something to do with his wife's campaign for political office so we do still need

answers but we shouldn't be trading immunity to get those answers that was

the mistake of the Obama Justice Department look at congressman I know

it's across chambers but we are waiting to see what's going to happen with that

Senate Judicial Committee hearing and just to give you a last word on this

this is getting pushed back yet again that inspector general's report

I know it's leaking will you get an opportunity to see that before everybody

else I shared the president's concern that the actual substance of the report

has likely been written for some time now you may have people trying to sand

off the rough edges and make it look like the conduct was more acceptable

than it should have been so the president expressed that concern in his

tweet yesterday based on some of my own sources I share that concern and that's

why we're pushing to get the information out in the public as soon as possible

and if people are behind the scenes changing the substance of that report we

will find them remember we caught the folks who changed the hillary clinton

exoneration statement and if there are folks that are engaged in that improper

behavior we'll catch them again congressman Matt Gaetz the great state

of Florida thank you very much and again thank you for your kind words about my

new book appreciate thank you Harris so for more on the many legal angles here

let's bring in Fred TC former federal prosecutor and former assistant US

attorney general and the criminal division my first question for you with

regard to all of this is insubordinate a legal term you know it depends on how he

was insubordinate I mean I think if I have the FBI so right right

so if his insubordination was that he broke the law and leaked things that he

shouldn't have or did things that he shouldn't have then the answer is yes

it's a legal term it's an euphemism for he broke the law in my opinion all right

I I'm watching out of the corner of my eye and we may pop this up on the screen

- we've been waiting for a White House press briefing by Larry Kudlow and when

that happens talking about the economics of the g7 summit we'll go to that live

so let me just get that in there real good right so yep you know Fred when you

look at all of the Inspector General's report and week haven't seen it yet

just stuff is coming out and leaking what are you as a legal professional

looking for well I'm looking for a lot of things I mean minoo at a federal

prosecutor one of the things you don't want to do is give immunity if you can

avoid it because it really hurts you I mean I had a case involving two fAA

officials in an entire airline and we had to give immunity but you don't want

to give immunity until you know what's going on so the answer to your question

is what I'm looking for from the IG report is what are the facts what are

the information I need any type of prosecutor needs to make a reasoned

decision because you know what Harris what's the endgame in my opinion the

endgame should be to make sure that people stand accountable and are

prosecuted to the full extent of law if they broke the law and how complicated

is it for that accountability because we don't see it a lot in our federal

government so you see the chasing of the facts right now the Inspector General

seems to be able to multitask he's also looking at the Hillary Clinton

investigation so on and so forth right and so you know what Harris I mean it

part of my frustration over years is is is it seems to me and I think it seems

to a lot of outside observers that maybe the law is not getting followed and that

needs to end I mean the public has to have confidence in the DOJ and the FBI

when I was a fellow prosecutor you know proudest day in my life was when I put

my hand on the Bible and became a prosecutor and my job is to uphold the

law irrespective of my political convictions and the FBI that I worked

with I never saw any of this stuff kind of these allegations that you're seeing

so so the endgame takes on a couple of things and the prosecution people need

to be held accountable for what they did not from a political standpoint there's

no room for politics in any of this on either side there's the law

and there's the conduct of the people that engage in activities that may have

broken the law and there's justice to be answer to those are what count Fred does

what we are learning and again this is drip drip because it's it's being like

the report so we're gonna have to wait another few days potentially even next

week before we know all of it or or might we may never know all of it but

we're hoping to know all of it so my question to you now is with this

inspector general's report do we wipe away the thought of a second Special

Counsel to look into things like how the Hillary Clinton investigation into that

private server when she was Secretary of State how that came about if there were

any laws broken I mean does this answer back is this IG doing a good enough job

or a deep enough job just from what we've seen on the surface you know this

ID has a tremendous reputation so far the reports that I've seen from him are

fair and balanced to coin a term you know the question is what are the facts

and as you say we don't have all the facts but I only have half the facts and

the surefire way to get in trouble is to go forward with half the facts we've

already seen that in one Inspector General's report you know one one

special prosecutor's appointment I am personally loath to see special

prosecutors get appointed but you know at some point we've got to return the

confidence in the public and the transparency in these institutions and

if getting a special prosecutor one who's above reproach to come in and do

the right job and do that and and make sure that people are held accountable

for what happened that would go a long way to to saving the reputation such as

it is of the DOJ and the FBI at this point all right ahead of that report

again we are looking at leaks how much does that complicate because sometimes

it can start a narrative about a certain situation as an attorney I know you

don't like to see things leak but but when you look at this what does it

really do to the evidence in a case and I call it a case because that's what

we're looking at right we are looking at occasion and and it compromises your

ability to prosecute a case I mean again these leaks are driven by political

people with political ambitions that's the only reason to leak things I mean

the federal grand jury rules requires secrecy now put aside whether or not

we're we're talking about indictments anything

like that will succeed the federal rules of Criminal Procedure make it very very

clear you're not to leak anything and and I will tell you and every person in

law enforcement will tell you that leach don't help the investigation in any way

shape or form they tip off people in the way the prosecutors and the

investigators may be going they do a lot of really bad things that's why by the

way it's against the law to leak this stuff and so it troubles me when I see

it Fred TC we appreciate your perspective and legal

counsel if you will honest thank you very much

Ayers thank you very much for having have a great day president Trump is

celebrating last night Super Tuesday primaries especially John Cox win the

candidate he endorsed for California governor what does it mean for the

November midterm elections we'll break it down stay close now John Cox just

simply ran on repealing the gasoline tax which the initiatives on the ballot

would he helped put on I I want to see how the Democrats defend that when they

even got recalled over it

former deputy director Andy McCabe as a request I would like immunity also peer

struck he's now been found out that he had a larger role in the clinton and the

russia probe everyday we learned something new and it doesn't look good

history is about to be made at Singapore's cappella hotel a luxury

resort will play host to president comes june twelfth summit with North Korean

dictator Kim jong-un as a result of unprecedented obstruction I've canceled

the August recess we have a lot of important work to do the media attacks

against Melania Trump have hit a whole new low one writer just implied the

president is beating her to advance something so ridiculous like that that's

the reason that the American public does not trust the mainstream media

we stand together for patriotism and we proudly stand for our glorious nation

under God

June 6 2007 T 4 years ago today d-day and welcome to jus do a little Jason

Derulo right a lot of people want to get up and dance but I like to quote Brett

Eldredge when he says I never met a dancefloor that did me any good that's

what I live on right so that's why I stand advice for all I'm still upset

about this I hop thing I hop is changing its name to I hop IH OB there talk about

later in the show but it is sad day we don't know what the B stands for but if

they call it International House of bacon come on right that would be

everyone except for pigs because they would be not happy about the new demand

yeah thank you very much for joining us on this very busy Wednesday what a night

last night what a night it was a wild primary night across America and the

winners in California already taking shots at each other yeah you got

big-name Democrat and Trump backed Republicans set for a showdown in

November with maybe the balance of the house on the line meanwhile let's go out

to Huntington Beach California Hillary Vaughn is reporting live with

the results hey Hillary hey Steve Abbey and Brian Democrats were hoping a blue

wave would sweep 10 House seats last night and successfully lock Republicans

out of a gubernatorial race in the general election in November but they

fell short in a huge win for Republicans Trump back to Republican businessman

John Cox was voters number two pick to run the state in the governor's primary

last night he will face off against the Democratic favorite lieutenant governor

Gavin Newsom who is hoping to take his boss's job in November Newsom landed the

top spot on the ballot headed into the fall and in his remarks to supporters

last night he made it clear this race is not about what's happening in California

he has his sights set on DC others will have a real choice this November between

a governor who's going to stand up to Donald Trump and a foot soldier

in his war on California mark my words I've never backed down from a fight

cocks already calling Newsome out for blaming President Trump for California's

problems pointed the finger at state Democrats that have had a monopoly on

the leadership here for nearly a decade wasn't Donald Trump who made California

the highest tax state in the country it was Gavin Newsom and the Democrats

Democrats were also hoping to flip a House seat last night with California's

jungle primary letting the top two vote-getters head to the general that

means Dems had an opening to flip a seat if they could get two Democrats to

finish in the top two but that didn't happen last night four seats in Orange

County the Democrats poured millions of dollars into Democrats finished in

second place and will have an uphill climb to take on Republicans in November

they were also targeting two Republican incumbent Congress representatives Dana

Rohrabacher and Mimi Walters both of them are progressing to the general

election but Senator Dianne Feinstein is breathing a big sigh of relief from DC

because she made it through a very contested primary and is heading to the

general election in November but she wasn't in California last night Steve

Abbey and Brian Wright reporting live from Huntington Beach Hillary Vaughn we

thank you very much so some good news for Republicans out there we're gonna

have Republican at the top of the ticket in California unlike some past elections

where there's been nobody to get out the vote for the lower folks down lower

ticket yeah well there's a lot of news though coming out of yesterday two big

bombshells coming out from the FBI one of them

Andy McKay remember him as the former head of the FBI fire just days before he

was supposed to retire back in March well he is now asking for immunity ahead

of congressional hearing on the handling of the Clinton case wanting immunity in

order for him to testify I wonder why he why would the number-two guy the FBI

need immunity to reveal to a Senate committee what happened at the

Department of Justice and the FBI that no one good for him and his bride and

his lawyer says if he doesn't get immunity he's going to plead the fifth

right so if you please fifth and he could get subpoenaed and

then we could that could be an issue they just go down the line bottom line

they don't the Judiciary Committee and Grassley got the letter would have to

make that decision do we give him immunity because he's looking at a lot

of legal trouble number one and number two what would he say so they do have

these preliminary meetings before it's a if I community let me know what you're

gonna say and it's one of the things I want to say is what the you and James

Comey cannot be telling to say that they felt by telling the truth because you

differ on something as vitalized when did you find out about the Anthony

Weiner emails on his laptop well he was not leaking to the Wall

Street Journal on top of things after that right here's the big question why

would you give somebody who is a known liar a deal why would you give them

immunity I mean I know the guy's a liar also somebody else who's in the news the

other part of that blockbuster believe I'll just up you remember they gave

Sammy the bull immunity and he's a murderer

so I'm just saying sometimes you try to flip people because they might be saying

something factual and if they got John Gotti right Sammy the bull ended up back

in here who's not gonna want him to get immunity as James Comey can't imagine

he's sleeping well these nights yeah no kiddin they all got to story to tell as

does Peter struck they would also like to hear from him and now we know

according to Catherine Harridge apparently she had spoken to a lawmaker

up on Capitol Hill who was in one of those meetings yesterday and gave her

the impression that mister struck had a much greater role in the mid-year exam

which was the code name for the Hillary Clinton email investigation and also the

Russia thing as well bill McGurn who is a great writer for The Wall Street

Journal's was with us and he was talking about an hour ago about how all of these

pieces fitting together make the FBI look very bad refer to it as could this

possibly be the FBI's Watergate what did they know and when did they know it

listen to this the FBI in it every federal agency is accountable ultimately

to we the people acting through our elected representatives this is a story

with the cast of thousands Christopher Steele the different FBI jens andy

mccabe but we don't know how it started and the FBI and DOJ

has been very resistant in providing the

documents that would let us know how and why this started what it looks like is

that the official started the investigation July 31st was not really

the start so yeah we're gonna get a lot more information but the IG report the

drafts of which was given him the Department of Justice and FBI in mid-may

and we're supposed to get it yesterday here Michael Horowitz who authored it

took a year to investigate yesterday now that's delayed first to the 11th now

we understand is going to be two weeks from now and then the people fear and I

think it's a justifiable including the president that somebody's watering down

and redacting again which means we're never gonna get to the bottom of it i

just wish robert muller was more curious about what Peter struck was doing being

that and Lisa page and McCabe as well as James Comey to a degree his good friend

as he is about the Trump Tower meeting reportedly because I think it all fits

together especially Steve as you mentioned Peter struck headed up both

the email investigation as well as the as well as the with the Trump people may

or may not have done with Russia and may be bowler is looking into that we don't

know there's still so many question marks we don't know and there's very few

the you see you know Peter struck running in it you don't see a lot of

these players marching in and out of the Mahler great we haven't heard you know

we haven't heard any leaks from the Mahler team that we know yeah speaking

of players though Brian yesterday was a big day at the White House I'm sure

you've all been following this closely president Trump uninviting the Eagles

team after the majority of them said they don't want to go anyway

so the president says we're gonna throw a birthday bash for America it happened

at 3:00 p.m. yesterday on the South Lawn the president used it as an opportunity

to talk about patriotism and what it means to this country take a listen

we stand to honor our military and to honor our country and to remember the

fallen heroes who never made it back home we stand to show our love for our

fellow citizens and our magnificent Constitution we stand together for

freedom we stand together for patriotism and we proud

stand for our glorious nation under God okay so why did the president pull the

plug on the invitation because apparently at the 11th hour and

yesterday Sarah Huckabee Sanders referred to what the Eagles were doing

is a political stunt only two players were gonna show up along with the owner

and the mascot so they pulled the plug the president never mentioned the Eagles

but clearly it's his message was look if you don't want to be there you're not

invited yeah how people could say well the president should have been bigger

than that and still had it no one was coming in my he knew that Lori the owner

of the Jeff Lori the owner of the Eagles does not like him on the record not

liking him caught on tape saying that his administration is a disaster and it

looks like a pot first they wanted 80 background checks because everybody was

coming then it was 70 was a fine imagine the picture though okay here's your the

Super Bowl Eagles the winners and it's two guys I don't know I still say invite

the ones that wanted to go and treat them like the head of state and with

even a stoom yeah don't need to have these meetings

anymore you know this has been going on for a long time let's not politicize

patriotism let's not politicize sports but if you looked at the University of

Alabama how thrilled they were if you look at the faces on the Astros

how thrilled they were I mean why why yeah why let them why let them not

experience for them for the players in their fans such a great American

tradition and now for it to be so political and for people trying to make

it that's why it's white doesn't wanted to go right but I don't actually two

people yeah that's not a seventh experience of their life it's insulting

well they blew it yeah 7-eleven now Jillian's a big Eagles

fan and she joins us man and hasn't LeBron James already said that neither

and we'll go to the White House and say no yeah right

so this he's already set the record right there snowballing goal video

didn't go last I rest my case let's get you some news

right now an illegal immigrant is sentenced to death for murdering a

border agent Gustavo Tijerina Sandoval shot and

killed Javier Vega jr. in 2014 he was fishing with his family when Sandoval

and another man tried to rob him Vega was a Marine Corps veteran and leaves

behind a wife and children Sandoval's accomplice is awaiting trial

and also faces the death penalty a white house contractor charged with attempted

murder expected in court today Secret Service agents busting Marty's Edwards

at a checkpoint as he headed to work he had an outstanding warrant after he shot

his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend the victim was taken to the hospital with

life-threatening injuries right now it's unclear exactly what he was working on

at the White House some your TV if you're not there because this pre-k

grads stealing the show with her adorable and dance moves you have to see

we begin with a Fox News Alert breaking news new details emerging about that

highly anticipated Department of Justice internal watchdog report ABC News is

reporting the DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz has concluded that

James Comey defied Authority at times during his tenure as FBI director it is

breaking now this is outnumbered i'm harris faulkner here today co-host of

Fox and Friends weekend Abby Huntsman host of Kennedy on Fox Business Kennedy

former deputy spokesperson for the State Department Fox News analysts and host of

Benson and harf on the radio Marie harf joining us now in the center seat former

House Speaker and Fox News contributor Newt Gingrich also the author of the new

book Trump's America the truth about our nation's great comeback he is

outnumbered as we say we have a lot to get to this is breaking right now and I

am definitely outnumbered this new thing is amazing yeah let's get to it

a former FBI director James Comey reportedly in hot water as we await the

release of that DOJ inspector general's report it's been delayed we've been

reporting that one day horse is telling ABC News the watchdogs draft explicitly

uses the word insubordinate to describe commis behavior during his time as head

of the FBI the draft also reportedly criticizes former attorney general

Loretta Lynch over her handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation

this is meaty we knew that there'd be some fireworks with this IG report from

what everybody was telling us what's your first reaction the first reaction

is somebody inside justice decided they would leak this because it I don't think

it's gotten anywhere except in the Justice Department and that means

somebody inside justice is really angry about the way it's being handled and I

think they've decided let's just start getting it out there any sort of

surprise reaction par for the course with James Comey from you I don't know

that I have any surprise about look I think that Comey

was a terrible person who did terror things I think he did it in the Bush

administration I think he did it when he's head of the FBI and I think that if

McNabb gets immunity and testifies that Comey will be in even worse shape and I

think both McNabb and Comey have enormous legal liabilities

you mean Andrew McCabe former general care of the FBI who was fired with four

different charges of having broken the law and so you have the top guy at the

FBI fired the number-two guy at the FBI fired the support apparently says the

Attorney General was doing things that were wrong which which I believe means

you eventually gonna get to Valerie Jarrett and Barack Obama yeah okay so

that's where I want to go with you Marie harf so now you have if you will that

that line of command which would reach all the way to the president to the

White House potentially maybe I mean first of all first of all it's a draft

report so we have no idea if there are caveats we have no idea the context and

we're all gonna have to wait and read it together when it's finalized but I think

that I've always said about Jim Comey he is by no means a perfect public servant

I think he has done damage to his reputation and a lot of Democrats hate

him too that being said some of the criticisms he has raised can also be

true so we have to sort of separate those out when you like what what are

you talking some of his criticisms of President Trump and I think the fact

that President Trump fired him in part because of the Russia investigation can

still be problematic even if Jim Comey wasn't perfect but you

asked about Barack Obama we have no idea I mean we have no idea

what Jim Comey was doing or if he was talking to Barack Obama talking to

anyone in the White House I don't even know why you brought up Valerie Jarrett

she hasn't been a part of any of this so I think we just have to take a deep

breath and wait till we see the report I want to get the speaker a chance to

respond I mean first of all you do have the specific text message in which one

of the FBI agents says to the other the president personally wants to be kept

brief than all this second on the election meddling investigation on on

the investigative well on the investigation into the Trump campaign

during the election second you know just the way the White House operated the

idea that Valerie Jarrett wouldn't be in the middle of this is in conceiving you

have no evidence she is you're just throwing that out

there I have no idea if she was why would I want to get back to something

else I mean what's interesting here is you've got the three essentially top

players and justice and FBI turning on each other because Andrew McCabe and

think how liberally the FBI was handing out immunity during the Hillary Clinton

investigation so Andrew McCabe assumes that he's going to receive the same sort

of liberal outreach I don't think he's going to I don't think he needs to be

immune from prosecution but what he's saying is I will gladly turn on Comey

Comey has said there's classified information about Loretta Lynch that

showed that she directly meddled in the investigation and Comey has also you

know he's tried to say that he and McCabe were best friends but you know

perhaps he wasn't as honorable as people have thought but you know it'll be very

interesting to see where we go from here because if you know if you believe James

Comey and it's fine to do a reductio you can you can go ahead and believe James

Comey at his word when he says that Loretta Lynch was so compromised he had

to go Loeb he had to go out on his own which contradicts his testimony that he

believes in chain of command but if he really believed that that means he

couldn't go to the president he couldn't go above her to you know the chain of

command above her and appealed to the President and say she's doing something

wrong so he went out on his own person who might've leaked to information about

his conversations with the president to a friend whom he had employed at one

point as head of the FBI as a special type of agent at the FBI he leads to

that Columbia professor that person were supposed to suspend belief about

everything else that he's telling the truth and and not think that that any of

what you said happened it's it's a stretch perhaps for some people

politically I want to get to this though the word insubordinate apparently is

used by the Inspector General's report and again this is leaking a lot of

leaking a lot of Lee right so we want to be able to see it as Marie says if we

can as unredacted as possible I'm insubordinate though that's a serious

word that's not like heat that's that's not a little going rogue yeah that's not

a little maybe he felt like he couldn't go directly to the president because his

boss was in the way that connotes that in this report he did

something wrong and insubordinate used for the head of the FBI the irony of all

of this is this goes against the man that he's been trying to portray that he

is James Comey is out in his book door and he's trying to be the example for

these leaders coming up he and that interview with George Stephanopoulos he

said I follow that chain of command I take that very seriously exactly to your

point this goes exactly against the person that he claims to be the people

that I feel for the most in all of this the bigger picture here is the morale at

the FBI occasion I've got about what thirty five thousand employees many of

them are there for the right reasons and they take that job not to be political

but to serve this country and you've got all of these guys at the top pointing

fingers that want to one another I think it's disgusting I think it's really sad

to see this both as a historian and as a novelist let me just suggest and a

former speaker performance week let me just suggest if you have the number two

person at the FBI guilty of something you potentially turning on the number

one person at the FBI who if you read the Rosenstein memo but was was

devastating which trump should have released frankly before he fired it

because it was devastating and really really presage is that what we saw what

we're seeing today because Rosenstein said we can never rebuild the morality

FBI as long as this guy's still there that's that's in the memo by Rosenstein

then you have Comey saying that had the FBI saying of his boss the Attorney

General that she clearly has done things that are terribly wrong and now I

understand you want to suggest that the Obama recession was so sloppily run that

you could have the Attorney General the head of the FBI and the number two

person the FBI all doing these things while at the White House they were

totally ignorant I think that is inconceivable well wait for some

evidence and we'll think well but of course the Justice Department has done

everything it can to avoid the evidence so very quickly seeing that there might

actually be accountability and a story that that many in the media specifically

said was completely closed that there might be accountability is a very good

thing but it also shows this Inspector General so far has been pretty thorough

and maybe we don't need a second special guy I was just thinking the same thing

and in fact because we still have to see the tick-tock and what he found out on

the Hillary Clinton email investigation portion of it which I know we're going

to get to waiting for this IG report and with the delays that we learned about

this week I have had many lawmakers on the hill tell me it'll be worth the wait

because it will answer some questions and and clearly it's answering questions

that we might not have even known we wanted to ask her true well speaking of

investigations a group of Democratic lawmakers now requesting top DOJ and FBI

officials confirm they did not give President Trump or anyone from his legal

team access to the same classified information on the Russia probe that was

briefed to congressional leaders last month

Democrats stating in a letter that the president's attorneys and congressional

Republicans will ultimately attempt to use the information against the agency

adding quote we thus respectfully request that the Department of Justice

confirmed that going forward DOJ and FBI will not brief additional members of

Congress who are not part of the gang of eight on these matters

we should note that House Oversight Chairman trey Gowdy was the only

lawmaker present at those classified DOJ briefings last month who was not a

member of the bipartisan gang of eight so Mr Speaker this is part of this whole

backdrop of the Russian investigation this kerfuffle over who got to go to

what briefings I think the White House landed in a good place to brief the gang

of eight but then the White House sent an attorney for part of the meeting they

got some criticism for that do you think that criticism was warranted because

that's what this letter is addressing in part now no I think they play women just

as well off not to do it but but look look at where we're at we've had a year

and a half of this it's all all sorts of stuff is kept either secret or it's

redacted this is an absurdity I mean you know

that in in Jerry Maguire says show me the money you know of my attitude as an

American citizen is after 17 million dollars and all of these lawyers show me

the evidence yeah and they don't tell don't tell me

there's some magic secret hidden place the whole point of the last election of

the election down the Trump was the American people sending a signal they

are sick of a Washington operating in secret also in Jerry Maguire help me

help you

we help you I mean let me let me do what I can you do what you can right well and

and trey gowdy came out of that meeting and basically said that he is now more

convinced the FBI was proper and how they handled the investigation Paul Ryan

seems to agree with him let's take a look at what he had to say I think

chairman gaudi's initial assessment is accurate

I think but but we have some more digging to do I want to make sure that

we run every lead down and make sure we get final answers of these questions

know this week of course because I'm I was really surprised by gaudí saying

this do you think he believes it maybe well he may believe it but chairman

chairman Ernest has made the point none of the documents have been exposed I

mean you know they come and they give briefing but they got access to

documents in this briefing and Kennedy trey Gowdy came out of it saying that he

thinks the FBI behaved properly and he is respected in these issues no I

understand but the the issue that the Democrats have is that trey Gowdy

was part of the briefing right it's like what are they really upset about I mean

it just seems like everyone is moving chess pieces just because you know they

feel like they should be playing a game right it's really obnoxious and I agree

with you completely but I also agree for future administration's regardless of

party let's get used to releasing information let's get used to

transparency in this government not just to protect the president or to protect

our chances in the midterms ray but to protect the rule of law and and you know

civil liberties here and those are violated when you have an opaque

government and when you have a gross abuse of power or whether its political

or otherwise we need to see that that thrown open immediately so we stuck

because you know what happens when we abstract and you keep something secret

but you show some others with redactions it just keeps this broken system in

place and you know for for future generations of lawmakers makes it okay

for them to use these great tools for their own means picker where does this

end just quickly we've got a minute here but but you are saying American people

they want this to be done they want to start focusing on the economy things

that impact their daily lives how do you think this ends

oh I think it just gets worse and worse I think we people finally stop and say

explain again why all of Hillary's accomplices were given immunity explain

again why none of this stuff was ever carried out as a legal thing and I think

the more we're learning even today the sicker the system looks so that piece I

was just going to be a worse but it's going to get worse for the establishment

not for Donald Trump I think on the other front if we have very many more

months where we're being told we're gonna have 4.8% real growth and

yesterday's report there now more jobs available than there are people looking

for work I think those kind of things affect the American people they are

become much more but then but the average American talks about that a lot

more than they talk about washing well in the next chapter and that potentially

could be the gap that you see between people looking for work and the jobs

that are out there is that skill base what happens if the skills start to

catch up with those jobs that's going to be like a headwind first of all it's

beautiful for the people looking for jobs I mean but it's a headwind for

Democrats in that sense all right so the president right now is about to make

news in the Rose Garden we're watching a minute-by-minute on this and everybody's

assembled so this looks like this may go off on time the president is signing the

veterans affairs mission act today and it addresses new VA health plan some of

the reporting that's come in recent days was very critical of the health care

program that's set aside for our veterans and military people who serve

so to shore that up almost right on time on cue you've got this happening today

we'll learn about that a VA mission act no doubt as he signs that today so we're

watching for that live event to happen right there in the Rose Garden also

president Trump weighing in on a huge primary day and the focus is on

California Democrats were facing the potential of being shut out of some of

the critical races in part because of how the people can vote for anybody they

want there it's called a jungle primary one Republican secured a top spot in a

very important contest live report ahead stay close

F&F: ELECTION 2018 California PRIMARIES take center STAGE - Duration: 22:51.

well our Congress is still waiting for answers on the FBI's Russia

investigation and in a new op-ed calls on the agency's director to explain how

the investigation started in the first place

comparing the probe to Watergate our next guest ass what did the FBI know and

when did it know it bill McGurn wrote that in Wall Street Journal he's also a

Fox News contributor good morning to you hi oh you know what this is these are

troubling days the FBI aren't they they're very troubling days look every

day we learn something new and it doesn't look good and the interesting

thing is we have two investigations two scandals Hillary Clinton email rush

investigation and it's the same cast of characters in both investigations and

one of the things you say in your op-ed is you know we've got director

Christopher ray he's been very clear I'm gonna do everything I can to help

Congress and well he's been but he's playing a double game right he made an

end run around the early on this year when he went to the speaker's office to

try to prevent you know coughing up information chairman noonas had

subpoenaed and I think also at his at a hearing in December II kind of suggested

that he couldn't share this information with Congress because it's classified

it just gets the arrangement backwards you know the FBI in it every federal

agency is accountable ultimately to we the people acting through our elected

representatives one of the other things is you you address we don't know why

things got started right ultimately that's what Congress is trying to get

they want to see the you know the scope memo they want to see the physis stuff

but the FBI and the DOJ say sorry that's off limit and I think that's a big deal

in the sense that this is a story with the cast of thousands Christopher steals

the stephane helper the different FBI Jen's Andy McCabe but we don't know how

it started and the FBI and DOJ has been very resistant in providing the

documents that would let us know how and why this started why is that well you

you have to wonder what the you know whether what would it look

like is that the official started the investigation July 31st was not really

the story that they were looking into so the player tweeted to me Carter had

effect yesterday Carter page who was contacted about a conference where he

met Steph and how helped her write and he was contacted about this in May now

wasn't halper that contacted him but you know it was it was a group that he was

help helping and putting on the conference ultimately the more you know

and there are a million it's like we're putting together right there are a

million pieces on this table and we've heard a little piece about Myron here in

here and it's starting to all come together but ultimately it kind of makes

the FBI look really blow ethical at least somebody there if you remember

Devin Nunez has not said what he saw when he read the electronic

communication that launched officially launched the investigation but he did

say it didn't have intelligence and it didn't seem to be based on an

intelligence product and that's a troubling question also it should be a

big deal to investigate a campaign or get a FISA warrant on an American

citizen and it looks like this was done more casually than than then juban and

there are people around the president's who say this was simply in in at its

origin brazen plot to doom Donald Trump right well we don't know that but it's

troubling me here an FBI agent talked about an insurance policy right you know

you're dead years right and and so I have a lot of affection for the FBI

because I know great men and women that were agents and our agents and so forth

but at the top this leadership I think has just it had been scandalous Chris

Rae could fix it today just like those guys in Congress and say ok I got him

right here you want to really good he could he could he could do this but you

know he gave in his press release that I'm doubling the number of staff that's

an input good question is the output are you giving us access right so far no so

far now all right bill thank you thank you read all about it in the Wall Street

Journal by the way we reached out to the FBI for a statement they declined

meanwhile in other news ice launching one of the biggest rates in years

details on the massive bus coming up and we've been telling you about this story

a woman whose life was saved thanks to a doctor watching her on TV she's gonna

join us live next it is 6:24 now here in New York City and we've got some quick

Wednesday morning headlines for you it's official disgraced army deserter Bowe

Bergdahl will get zero prison time the commanding general approving his

sentence for leaving his post in Afghanistan back in 2009

Bergdahl also got a dishonorable discharge which he will appeal of course

he was a Taliban prisoner for five years before President Obama traded five Gitmo

terrorists for his release and a soldier is in custody after stealing a military

vehicle and leading police on a bizarre chase it all started when he drove off

Fort Pickett Army National Guard base in Virginia the chase topping out in just

40 miles per hour the soldiers surrendered about two hours

later he has not yet been charged but you can imagine he's in trouble

howdy Brian thank you Steve all right going on a reality show just might have

saved this woman's like Nicole McGinnis recently appeared on the HGTV shows

beachfront bargain hunt to celebrate the end of her brain cancer treatments

yep but one eagle-eyed viewer dr. Erik Voight spotted a lump on her neck and

put out a call on Facebook to warn her it could be serious Nicole got checked

out and is now undergoing treatment for thyroid cancer but there's more to that

story yeah Nicole McGinnis joins us right now to share more of this

incredible story Nicole really great to have you on with us this morning thank

you for having me so you have already survived a brain tumor I mean what

you've already been through in life walk us through the story because of this

doctor who was so determined to find you and let you know he was concerned about

a lump on your neck he might have just saved her life

absolutely I'm so grateful for dr. Waite my mother's friend found the post that

he posted on Facebook and immediately sent it to us we had it checked out

immediately I saw my primary care doctor that exact day and had a biopsy last

week Friday the results came back and I do have papillary thyroid cancer but I'm

just so forever grateful for dr. Hoyt for catching that for being vigilant and

for reaching out to me I mean just to think about the circuit

of the could the how this happened you mean here is an NYU doctor who just

happens to be watching a reality show you don't usually think of elite

physicians and reality shows but heed is watching this and then he's determined

to get ahold of you and he can't find you on Facebook so we just post

something hoping it will find you so when they felt like got ahold of you and

you check this out you must feel like the luckiest person

around yes I feel extremely blessed as you mentioned previously I have already

survived a grade 4 glioblastoma and never anticipated having to be a

two-time cancer survivor especially two cancers in two years but it's just in my

opinion a miracle that he saw it and was able to reach out to me and then I had

it checked out immediately but still Nicole no one wants to find out this

news no one wants to find out they have cancer what does the world look like

ahead for you on Friday I visit a ent Surgery at Duke University for a consult

appointment and I assume that we will set up a surgery in the near future I

have been told by many friends and family and doctor boy especially that

this treatment should be a little easier than my treatment for glioblastoma and

hopefully really just surgery and maybe some maybe some treatment after after

the surgery but but not as extensive physically a blastoma so I'm looking

forward to visiting the doctor on Friday and getting this taken care of and how

do you feel I feel I feel amazing I feel like I've been blessed by this by dr.

voit and what he saw on television I feel like everything happens for a

reason and maybe this was the reason that I was on the HD TV show yeah

absolutely just up quickly a message to people going through this experience but

what's your message this morning my message is that there is always hope I I

want to be an inspiration to folks who are suffering the similar similar

circumstances that don't give up there's always hope

have a positive attitude because I think that makes a world of difference you

want inspiration to call really great to have you on we wish you all the luck in

the world moving forward thank you so much I really appreciate that yeah we

like to keep in touch with you during the way thanks so much

all right coming up next as we move ahead over the next 90 minutes primary

results from California are coming in overnight they're not all in and it's

looking good in some cases for Republicans is this a sign of things to

come in November Tommy Lehren just moved to Los Angeles she she is one of the few

that wants to stay and she joins us live from there next it's early there right

now all right plus say goodbye to I hop the pancake house is now changing its

name and Twitter as you can imagine is flipping out I just hope they had more

syrup flavors because there's not enough but first happy birthday to our friend

friend friend friend weekend co-hosts Pete Xzibit it's okay

there is Pete is that Pete iving in the wall I hope he eats a lot of bacon today

then there were two a field of more than two dozen candidates for governor in

California pared down to a big-name Democrat and a trump back to Republican

Democratic lieutenant governor Gavin Newsom and Republican businessman John

Cox set for a showdown for a governor job in November meanwhile Democratic

Senator Dianne Feinstein advances despite a number of challengers it is

looking like she will face fellow Democrat Kevin de Leon although votes

are still coming in on that one so let's now bring in Fox News

contributor told me Larry tell me always good to have you with us hello how are

you guys doing good so the big news out of last night John Cox a Republican

going up for governor I think it's a sign that there are a number of people

in California that are wanting some real change well you know we didn't expect

huge victories in the state of California at least for the Republicans

we knew that that wasn't going to happen but seeing a Republican on the ballot

for governor especially with the way that this state runs its primary is

significant for us and it also shows that a trump endorsement

works even in the liberal state of California a trump endorsement means

something I believe it has a lot to do with immigration also taxes regulations

but moving forward we're gonna have to fight but we're ready to do it well one

of the things Tommy is I know Republicans had worried that unless a

Republican finished in the top two it would be two Democrats for that big

state office and then with the other congressional races and stuff like that

what would turn people out thankfully for the Republicans they said last night

we've got a Republican at the top and so people are going to go out and vote and

it's going to be better for us and maybe that blue wave might be actually a

little red well what I hope that lasts yesterday and today and ongoing is going

to show Republicans in this state is that we have to turnout we have to be

vocal we have to make sure that we're voting we succeeded yesterday and making

sure that we have John Cox on the ballot making sure that we can propel him

forward but that doesn't mean that the fight is over we have to continue he has

to make sure that his messaging is very clear to Californians we want to make a

change I think we're going to do it it's going to be a tough

we know in this state gavin newsom is going to be the favorite but we have a

chance for first time in a long time we have a chance well here's the thing in

terms of the house there's about seven Cantera contentious fights there and a

lot of people believe the house will go Democrat or Republican depending on what

happens in California with Darryl ices seat and Dana Rohrabacher seat and so

far the jungle primary has not yielded solid Democrats who were solid

Republicans for that but it got quite close because there's so many Democrats

who felt as though they wanted to run for that seat it diffused a lot of the

votes so it allowed more backer and others to stay up top yeah perhaps they

got a little too excited with their blue wave and it actually ended up helping

out some Republicans but hey there are some things in the state that we can

look at the small victories we're going to take we have a California state

senator who is facing recall because his vote for again a higher gas tax so that

just shows that Californians are upset with the high taxes were upset with

failed immigration policies and no border enforcement we're tired of

over-regulation we're tired of unaffordability so this is a good sign

small victories but we'll take them all right tell me a lot of folks the media

been having a field day about where on earth Melania Trump is and we might have

just hit rock bottom with one reporter from The Rolling Stone Jamil Smith I

mean just read to his tweet he says I wish that I didn't suspect that the

prolonged poorly explained public absence of Melania Trump could be about

concealing abuse I wish that it was a ludicrous prospect I wish that the

president wasn't a man with the history of abusing women including those to whom

he is married no sources nothing to back this up welcome to 2018 by the way

that's not true but go ahead right well we hear journalists we hear the

mainstream media often complain that drunk attacks then that Trump goes after

them that they're losing credibility because of this president no I'm sorry

they're losing credibility because of things like that to advance something so

ridiculous like that and put that out there with no sources no facts just to

speculate on that that's the reason that the American public does not trust the

mainstream media does not trust journalists to put something out there

like that I

care if your anti-trump that's one thing but when you go as far as to say that

Melania might be abused and that's what we haven't seen her in a while and she's

just suffered an illness and a surgery that's ridiculous and I hope the

American people are looking at this and watching it as a further again Trump

derangement syndrome yeah and just real quick what what would happen to that

writer if they have said that about Michelle Obama

well that writer wouldn't be working anymore there would be an outrage over

this again we know that the double Sanders the only stand of the left

operates on and they're really hurting themselves at the end of the day when

they advance this ridiculousness I think most Americans are smart enough to know

that it's ridiculous and they look at this and this writer I believe has lost

a lot of credibility because of it yeah unbelievable this is not someone with an

egg on Twitter this is an actual blue check someone that works for the Rolling

Stone unreal Tommy good to have you with us this morning thank you guys all right

22 minutes now before the top of the hour and Jillian joins us with something

that was a shocking story yesterday morning yes and I think a lot of people

still waking up this morning surprised by the news about fashion icon Kate

Spade who by the way left behind a heartbreaking suicide note the letter

addressed to her 13 year old daughter saying quote I'll always love you this

is not your fault family members claims she struggled with

depression for years a housekeeper found her hanged from a red scarf in her New

York City apartment brother-in-law actor David Spade paying tribute on Instagram

writing in part I still can't believe it Kate Spade was 55 years old ice agents

carrying out one of the largest workplace immigration busts in years

nearly 200 armed agents arresting 114 suspected illegals after raiding a lawn

and garden business in Ohio some are expected to be charged with identity

theft and tax evasion the raid comes as the Trump administration continues to

target sanctuary cities while upholding a zero-tolerance policy at the border

a father capturing the very moment a bumper car bursts into flames sending

plumes of smoke towards kids that were just feet away

Wow

well this all going down at a theme park near the border between North and South

Carolina thankfully the driver got out before the fire no one was hurt and a

word on how that happened all right the International House of

Pancakes is flipping its P for a B I hop announcing on Twitter that it will now

be called AI hub and we'll explain why on Monday there's speculation the B will

stand for breakfast but the change isn't sitting well with some Twitter users

some people are downright outraged grace tweeting quote someone sue I hop for

changing their name what kind of Anarchy is this and Sam writing this is stupid I

refuse to call it I hop you literally cannot make me oh yeah watch us make you

you know it makes me cool go ahead no no I was just gonna say this is insane it's

aha it makes you question everything like why was it ever the International

House of Pancakes what made it Internet if they had pancakes from all over the

world but here's what I think I don't think it's gonna be International House

of breakfast I think it's gonna be International House of bacon and it's a

restaurant in the world people could get excited right yeah I agree with you who

doesn't want breakfast there you go all right no you think breads at foxnews.com

what do you know this if an IHOP goes out of business

it can't berry replace with out of the business because there's no other

business that wants to triangle rule you can't make it insurance company what's

this an IHOP great point does the official B happen

the heat indices it's going to be dangerously hot so be be aware of that

kids and the air conditioning past 24 hours we do have the potential for some

showers and thunderstorms across the Gulf Coast part

BREAKING News Out Of California…

GET THE HELL OUT NOW!!!

LOOK WHAT THEY JUST DID!

California Governor Jerry Brown signed two bills that will force water districts and

municipalities to permanently adopt even more aggressive water rationing level than during

the state's 5-year drought, Breitbart reports.

Although he declared an end to California's historic five-year drought last year, Gov.

Jerry Brown on Thursday signed two new laws that will require cities and water districts

across the state to set permanent water conservation rules, even in non-drought years, Mercury

News reports.

Failure by any water district or municipality to meet its 2027 mandatory water rationing

goals may result in $1,000 per day fines in normal years and $10,000 a day during inevitable

drought emergencies.

"Water has become a paramount concern as the BIA attempts to address San Bernardino

County's estimated housing shortage of 65,000 units," said Carlos Rodriguez, chief executive

officer of the BIA Baldy View Chapter in a prepared statement.

Orange County Water District, the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts and the Water

Replenishment District of Southern California all are recycling wastewater and adding it

to ground water, where wells pump water, and after further treatment it is served to residential

and business customers through existing pipelines.

The legislation establishes an indoor, per person water-use goal of 55 gallons per day

starting in 2022, an amount that will gradually be dialed down to 50 gallons per day starting

by 2030.

Targets for outdoor water use will be set differently for each area taking into account

factors like the local precipitation and climate zone.

Water conservation director for the Natural Resources Defense Council Tracy Quinn said

that the combined daily indoor and outdoor water use has already dropped from 109 gallons

a day in 2013, to about 90 gallons a day in 2017.

Supporters said the two bills — Assembly Bill 1668 and Senate Bill 606 — are designed

to overhaul California's approach to managing water.

Californians coped with the most severe drought in the state's modern history from 2012

through 2016.

Brown declared the emergency over in April 2017 after one of the wettest winters on record

refilled reservoirs across the state.

The Evening Edit:California races could make or break DEMOCRATIC "BLUE WAVE" - Duration: 17:51.

I'm very scared about that and how about those primaries today in eight states I

mean they're being closely watched will it affect the balance of power you know

what are the thoughts there well we will know a lot tonight in California

California is pivotal and the effort for Democrats to win the house back there

they need to win about 20 to 25 seats depending on the math there you have

nine competitive seats in California and why is this so important well California

uses what we call a jungle primary they take the top two vote-getters tonight

whether it be two Democrats two Republicans or a Democrat and a

Republican and there's been so much Democratic enthusiasm where they have

flooded the zone they've gotten onto onto the ballot and so many of these

races that could actually dilute the support for the top of the ticket and

that in other words you get to Republicans in seats that otherwise

should be democratic and so we should know tonight if the Democrats do very

well in these races then the Democrats do have a chance at reclaiming the house

if they do poorly that's bad and this is a bit of a proxy war for two California

political leaders Kevin McCarthy who's the majority leader wants to be speaker

in the next Congress and Nancy Pelosi wants to be Speaker in the next Congress

and tonight that will portend a lot of their political futures Ted program

thank you so much good stuff and they too she ate it thank you all we're

asking them to do is their job right and their get started all right well the

show might go on ABC has been kicking around the idea of another Roseanne

reboot but can Roseanne survive without Roseanne good question

the angle over the gas tax increase the anger over what's happening to the

economy the cost of living all those things are changing in California back

towards Republicans and Democrats with if they want a back to the house there

pissed on a bunch of seats in California there are a couple of seats I think

we're tomorrow morning the Democrats are going to wake up and they have no

Democrat in the race America is not willing to give up on this grand

experiment we launched into a year and a half ago there's a lot of disgust with

the Democratic quote establishment well live in it's Friday night in eight

states voters across the country set to show us what they really care about

what's on their minds it's gonna set the stage for the midterms it is a

make-or-break night for Democrats in California this as new data is surfacing

about the true state of the Golden State a big reveal there we're gonna break it

all down for you and right on cue for voters look at this it's about the

trouble to come if policies are not fixed Social Security swimming in debt a

studying new report says that for the first time in decades it is forced to

dip into its funds to pay benefits cost exceeding and come there we've got the

debate and in reaction plus to the heated fight between the president and

the Philadelphia Eagles president Trump canceling their visit to the White House

we're going to show you what's really going on with this story in this fight

money politics we deliver the debate behind tomorrow's headlines

I'm Elizabeth MacDonald the evening edit it starts right now

first year Monday the day closing slightly lower ending the day at 24,000

$7.99 trade fears and much more weighing on the broader market but the Nasdaq

look at this ending at a new record look at this Netflix it's jumping more

on that in just a moment but first so the big primary night setting the stage

for the midterms that's just five months away

voters in eight states will tell us what's most important to them what's on

their minds right now it could be its taxes in New Jersey climate change in

Iowa gas taxes in California healthcare and more tonight's outcome again could

have a big impact on the midterms too California Democrat Governor Jerry Brown

and union dominated Sacramento they have too rapidly turned the state fiscally

upside down and that's where Republicans there say the state and local

governments there now owe more than one trillion dollars in debt Democrat

policies have according to the Republicans their increased taxes

increase housing costs energy costs are more expensive than neighboring states

all that that's no small irony income inequality is increasing and the state

is now a safe space for criminal illegals California no longer generating

income faster than its rivals Washington Oregon and Utah half of California's tax

revenues comes to the top one percent and nearly half of the bayar say they

want to leave a whopping 46 are fed up with a region's high cost of living and

soaring prices and more they may pack their bags and go

let's bring in GOP gubernatorial candidate in California John Cox John

great to see you your reaction to all of that makes you makes me wonder why I

want to be governor this day right but you know I think we've got a lot of

challenges here and the Democrats have only made it worse I like a challenge

Liz we need to get back to reality the Democrats have made this the highest tax

state in the country and Gavin Newsom has made a promise to the people of

California he's gonna double the state income tax he's gonna raise property

taxes and he's going to defend the gas tax which has pushed the price of

gasoline over $4 a gallon way more than our neighboring states I think the

people of this state have had enough and that's

they're gonna elect me in November you know John I mean you know nonpartisan

pure research cause since California has the most volatile finances in the entire

country but here's the thing you are in Liberal California President Trump is

not liked in Liberal California he is endorsing you let's show the president's

tweet endorsing John Cox John will this help or hurt you oh I think it'll help

I'm honored to get the president's endorsement because he's a businessman

who's trying to get results and he is getting results I mean you just talked

about it the Nasdaq hit an all-time high unemployment especially among blacks and

Latinos is at all-time lows but you hit the nail on the head the inequality in

this state is horrendous and the reason for that is because the Democrats in

Sacramento are literally crushing small business you know Liz I'm a small

businessman I started at the bottom and worked my way up and that's how people

climb out of the lower class that the idea of having your own business and and

being able to make it in America it's almost impossible to do that now in

California that's gonna change when I'm the governor of this state and they want

you know it looks like Kevin Newsom wants Medicare for all that costs of

that could be triple the size of California's entire state budget and

it's socialized medicine people won't get the care that they expect look at

the VA you know do you want to wait in line for six months in order to get a

procedure you know you could die waiting for that you know the last thing we want

to do is centralize more money in corrupt Sacramento we need to have

better health care we need to have affordable health care so we need to you

know look at other options like telemedicine and innovation let's get to

the sanctuary state policies look at this Liberal Democrat candidate running

for mayor of San Francisco she says she is the founder of the sanctuary law in

that city she wrote the city's original bill she spoke to Tucker Carlson she's

now outraged over how the original sanctuary law has been twisted beyond

recognition watch I'm against it because when I wrote it in the early

we did not include violent felonies and they amended it in 2013 and 2016 to

include covering violent felonies that's ridiculous called me all sorts of

names and said this was outrageous that I would be attacking the sanctuary law I

am not attacking the sanctuary law I'm attacking violent felons they should not

be protected under the sanctuary law or any other law in San Francisco

what's going on John in California people are attacking Angela calling her

a Nazi a fascist and a racist what is happening in that state it's it's crazy

this law is unconstitutional it'll be wiped off when I'm the governor and you

know it's about protecting ms-13 I don't want ms-13 protected I want them

out of this country I want them out of my state and you know what they attack

the immigrant communities the worst so if these people who are shouting racist

really cared about communities of color they would want us to get rid of ms-13

and really do something about the safety in their communities but is this

shutdown of people like Angela Alito working in California name-calling

I don't think it is I don't think it is I think most people feel that the

sanctuary state law is wrong they certainly don't want you know people

going door-to-door and pulling grandmothers out of their homes but they

want criminals going from this state ms-13 does not belong here I agree with

the president they are animals and and we need to make sure that California is

safe for all of us and that's the first role of government are you worried about

the controversy over the at the border with children being separated from their

parents I am we got to get a fix to this you know I want to work with President

Trump I want to work with the Congress see that's what business people do Liz

you know it you from the business world we look to solve problems

the politicians like Gavin Newsom just like to have them for partisan issues

they like to have the dividing points so that they can pontificate and get a lot

of news attention I'm for solving the problems I want to work with the federal

government I'm for AB or wall there's no question about that but

we also need to make sure that we get a solution that protects the doctor heads

and also deals with our need for workers Frank John why are Democrats allowing

illegals into the state of California you know what I don't know I'm looking

for more they're looking for more votes I think I think maybe that's it I mean I

think it's a noisy few though Liz that that seemed to have a lot of political

sway you know most people in this state don't want to get involved in politics

they just want to live their life make a living feed their families save for

retirement and the politicians in Sacramento are making that almost

impossible which is why you see poll results like you quoted 46% of people in

the bay area want to leave I got to tell you you know probably that way on the

state you know Arnold Schwarzenegger couldn't change Sacramento I mean he

tried right he did but you know what what are the things that I'm gonna be

doing Liz is I'm gonna work to get the special interest control out of the

legislature that's the problem with Arnold Schwarzenegger he didn't deal

with the legislature we've got to change it we got to get the power of the

special interest money it's all about corruption there I'm gonna try to

propose some reforms that are gonna get rid of that john cox great to see you

come back soon we love having you on I would love it later yeah we'd love to

have you back on John Cox thank you again

Liz there is a lot at stake here for Democrats here's what we're keeping an

eye on right now Democrats are targeting for races in Orange County two of them

are open seats and it's a free-for-all because under the jungle primary system

there could be two Republicans heading to the general completely locking out

Democrats but they're also targeting two Republican incumbents here in Orange

County congressman Dana Rohrabacher and also congresswoman Nene Walters I talked

to both of them today and they see say that they're feeling strong headed into

the primary election tonight polls close here at 11:00 p.m. Eastern time so we

still have several hours to go before we'll even get an idea

the results that are going to be trickling and a lot of Californians vote

by absentee so we expect a pop in some direction right when polls close and we

get those numbers in but then we're gonna have to wait to see what happens

after that one thing that we need to look out for headed into tonight the

race Dana Rohrabacher here in Huntington Beach right now he is being challenged

by both Democrats and a Republican which means there could be two Republicans

heading to the ballot in November locking out Democrats which of course is

their biggest fear so if that happens of millions of dollars that the d-triple-c

poured into this seat in particular is going to be a total loss for them it's

great to see you Hillary thank you so much for coming on and be sure to follow

the latest in the primary polls and the closing numbers we're gonna bring you

special live coverage starting at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time right here on the Fox

Business Network let's get your money the major averages

finished mostly higher than a sac composite in the Russell 2000 that's a

small business gang they closed in record territory let bike tech and

materials let's get to the Nicole petal Edie's on the floor of the nigh see with

the latest Nicole well stocks finish mixed at breakout right we saw record

clearly there's been an outpouring of support on Twitter back to you Thank You

Nicole our thoughts and prayers do go to the Kate Spade family the now to this

story all that talk of our trade war was it overblown

that China is offering a nearly seventy billion dollar olive branch to the White

In California Primary, Democrats Keep Their House Hopes Alive - Duration: 14:47.

AARON MATE: It's The Real News.

I'm Aaron Mate.

To win the House in November, Democrats will need California.

That's where seven Republican members of Congress hold seats that Hillary Clinton won in 2016.

If Democrats can flip about 25 districts like that across the country, they can take the

house.

But under California's election rules, to get to the November ballot, a candidate has

to finish in the top two of the state primary.

That made Tuesday's primary in California very important.

The good news for Democrats is that in all seven districts, if current results hold up,

Democrats will avoid a shutout, meaning they will field a candidate in each of these races

come November.

Meanwhile, on the Senate side, because of that top two rule, it will be a Democrat against

a Democrat.

Incumbent Sen. Dianne Feinstein finished first in her race, followed in second place by another

Democrat, Kevin de Leon.

And in the governor's race, former San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom finished in first place,

followed by a Republican second, John Cox. Newsom spoke to supporters last night.

GAVIN NEWSOM: This is only the first half of the election calendar.

But thanks to you, the halftime score is looking very promising, and the home team is winning

big.

AARON MATE: Joining me to discuss California's primary results is Narda Zacchino.

She is a book editor and author of "California Comeback: The Genius of Jerry Brown."

Also a former editor at The L.A. Times, and The San Francisco Chronicle.

Welcome, Narda.

Let's start with these pivotal House races.

Again, they were in jeopardy for Democrats, because if a Democrat failed to finish at

least in the top two, that would have meant that some Republicans would have been facing

other Republicans in November, and seriously diminishing Democrats' chances for the House.

So it looks like Democrats have cleared that hurdle, but on the negative side, in many

of these districts where a Democrat finished in second place, the combined total of Republican

votes for any Republican candidate exceeded that of Democrats.

So what can you tell us about what this says about Democrats' chances in November?

NARDA ZACCHINO: Well, first of all, there are 53 House seats in California, more than

anywhere in the country, of course; 14 of the 53 are held by the Republicans.

And of those 14, 7 of them are in districts that Hillary won, beating Trump in the '16

election.

Of those 14, 10 of them are being targeted by Democrats, the national Democratic Party,

as possibly being winnable.

So a lot of money is going to be pouring into those races, and in some of these states the

Democratic opponents have their own millions of dollars.

They're wealthy.

And so this is going to be a real battleground that the Democrats seem to feel that in, especially

in those seven seats that Hillary, those seven districts Hillary won, that they're vulnerable.

Dana Rohrabacher is particularly targeted.

I know a lot of Republicans who don't like him, either.

And so he is, there's going to be a lot of money poured into the race to defeat him.

He only got 30 percent of the vote in his election yesterday, so he's vulnerable.

AARON MATE: And on the Senate side we have an interesting race, where it's going to be

Dianne Feinstein against another Democrat, Kevin de Leon.

There were many challengers in that race.

We interviewed Alison Hartson, who was a progressive challenger also contending.

Does Feinstein, who won by a pretty sizable margin, face a threat from Kevin de Leon?

NARDA ZACCHINO: You know, it's really hard to say what happens between now and November.

I suspect not.

She recently came out against the death penalty, which was a really brave thing to do, for

her.

And Kevin de Leon is more progressive than Dianne Feinstein, for sure.

And it's possible that, I mean, this was, it's not like there were other Democrats in

the race to pull votes.

So you probably see, you know, pretty close.

I think she got 44 percent, or something like that, and he only got 11.

So he has a real uphill climb to get her.

But I think what he's doing is really establishing himself as a solid progressive.

And he's been the head of the state Senate.

And I don't think he can defeat her.

I think people in California feel-.

She's been a senator for 26 years, and I think they feel loyal to her.

She is in her 80s.

And so some people feel she's-.

In fact, when he went after her for her age, I think he mentioned her age, people were

upset about that.

I think she has a lot of loyalty here in California.

It's going to be hard for him, but it sets him up for the next time.

AARON MATE: What, to you, explains her success?

Because from the outside, looking at California, which is known as progressive, I mean, here

you have a senator who opposes a $15/hour minimum wage, she voted for the Iraq war,

she voted for the Bush tax cuts.

She opposes universal health care, Medicare for all.

What explains her continued success?

NARDA ZACCHINO: Yes, she also said Edward Snowden should be tried for treason, and she

was, she's on the Intelligence Committee, and doesn't have a good record there.

She is, well, she's a, she's a senator for all the people of California.

The Republicans, I think, respect her, too, for her positions.

And that's, the whole, his whole plank was about being more progressive than she is.

He is more in sync with the people of California in many ways, especially-.

California's a very progressive state.

So I think for her it's a lot of loyalty.

You know, she was very anti-gun.

She's the one who had the assault weapon ban that wasn't renewed.

It was not renewed when, I forget the year, but she's very been very strong.

She came out strongly again for gun control.

He is, too.

So there's no question that he is far more progressive than she is.

And I think maybe he'll make more of that, and he'll have a lot of backing from progressives

in California.

AARON MATE: When it comes to this Democratic Party internal civil war, Bernie Sanders-style

progressives against corporate-friendly candidates, did Tuesday's results tell you anything?

NARDA ZACCHINO: You know, there's, this has been going on since the 2016 election.

The Democratic Party is a bit fractured in California because of that.

I have people I know who are on the national, on the State Committee Democratic Party, for

example, in the lieutenant governor race.

The party- there were two statewide races.

The party did not endorse either Democrat, any Democrat, because of the two factions

that were fighting over each candidate.

In the lieutenant governor's race, for example, there was the, there's one candidate who,

she and her father put 9.3 million into her campaign, and she got the state party to not

endorse her Democratic opponent.

So this is going to be interesting, and I think this is something that the Democratic

Party has to resolve nationally in order to, you know, to really be a force against the

Republicans.

And it still exists in California.

There still is the, are these two factions.

AARON MATE: All right.

And on the governor's side, you had the former mayor of San Francisco, Gavin Newsom, finishing

in first place.

He's a Democrat.

He'll square off not against another Democrat, but against John Cox, who is a Trump supporter.

Now, I want to go to some of what Cox said last night.

JOHN COX: Mr. Newsom and his corrupt cronies made, they did a bunch of ads touting their

opposition to the president.

Well, let's send him the very first message, and that is it wasn't Donald Trump who made

California the highest taxed state in the country.

It was Gavin Newsom and the Democrats.

AARON MATE: That is the Republican nominee for governor in California, John Cox.

So I think it's pretty unlikely that he can beat Newsom.

Newsom is popular, and has enjoyed a lot of success at many levels.

But I'm wondering if that sort of, that tax, that anti-tax talking point could maybe resonate

with some voters, because my sense of California is that it's worked before.

NARDA ZACCHINO: Well, don't forget that California in 2012 passed a huge tax increase on the

wealthy, and it was, it was a huge election.

That was, Jerry Brown engineered that.

And then in 2016 they extended it.

It was supposed to expire, I think, in 2018.

It now is going to expire in the 2020s.

And so California has twice in the last two elections voted themselves big tax increases.

The last tax increase, that resulted in the recall of a Democratic assemblyman in Orange

County in this election.

He was replaced by a Republican, which lost the supermajority vote in the assembly for

Democrats because of their election last night.

But he voted for a transportation tax that would put, I can't remember, but a small amount

of tax when you buy gasoline.

California already has high gas taxes.

So the people of Orange County recalled him because he voted for it.

But California, I don't know that you can call it an anti-tax state when in the last

two big elections, in '16 and '12, they voted for a very large tax increase.

Now, truly it was for the wealthy, against the wealthy, but they went for it.

In fact, the most wealthy districts in California, like in the Silicon Valley area, they voted

for, they had the highest vote for that tax increase, even though they were the ones being

taxed the most.

So I don't think-.

And I'll tell you Cox's problem.

John Cox lost half a dozen elections in Illinois.

He was from Illinois.

He only moved to California full time, living here full time in 2011.

So he's sort of a newbie, and Californians don't like that so much.

And that might become an issue.

But he was not doing well in the polls until Donald Trump endorsed him last month.

Donald Trump endorsed him, and he was able to, he rallied Republicans around, who support

Trump in California, to vote for him.

And they did.

Trump is going to be a liability, in my opinion, and in the opinion of other people, in November

because Trump is not well liked in California.

A lot of the things that, that John Cox and Trump stand for are not popular with Californians.

And so I think that Trump, I'm not sure that it's going to be a wise thing for Cox to have

Trump either come into California or say a lot of, you know, great things about him.

Newsom, by the way, spent eight years, the last eight years, as lieutenant governor,

and he is very much on the other side.

He's more progressive than Jerry Brown.

He, as you remember, maybe, when he was mayor of San Francisco, he allowed gay marriages

to happen in San Francisco, which long preceded Proposition 8, resulted in Proposition 8,

which then was overturned by the Supreme Court.

He also was ahead of everyone on legalizing marijuana, which has been a huge tax boon

to California and huge in terms of taxes.

So he's also now calling for a single payer health plan, which is something he set up

when he was mayor of San Francisco, and he got something like 97 percent of San Franciscans

who were, who got health care.

AARON MATE: So that's interesting, because that was a subject recently of a very heated

debate between Democrats in the state legislature.

NARDA ZACCHINO: Aha.

And I know, it is a, and it has come up before.

A single payer health plan came up before.

It came up during the administration of Schwarzenegger, and it actually passed.

There was a, it passed the legislature, and then Schwarzenegger vetoed it.

And it's come up again.

But I think if Newsom is governor, he's also very anti-death penalty.

So is Jerry Brown.

But Newsom is, I think he really walks the walk there, and Jerry might not, so much.

But yeah, I think it's going to be, it's going to be an interesting race.

I don't think there's any chance that Gavin Newsom is going to lose this race.

So, I mean, he, he's popular.

He's also looking at establishing a state bank for Californians, which is this, a movement

that's growing in the state.

There are people who are grassroots, people who are trying to get this done.

So it's going to be an interesting race.

And I don't think that Cox has a chance.

Especially if he uses Trump.

California has something like 40 lawsuits against the Trump administration for things

like sanctuary states, abortion rights, and stuff-.

A lot of the policies, especially on the environment.

On the environment, and immigration.

Those two in particular.

California-.

The United States is way out of sync with California on those issues.

AARON MATE: So much so that I think Trump or his people have threatened to pull funding

from states like California.

NARDA ZACCHINO: There was a court ruling that they can't do that.

So, yeah.

But it's making its way through the courts.

AARON MATE: Right.

And I duly stand-.

I happily stand corrected on my rendering of Californians' views towards taxes.

So thank you for that.

We have to leave it there, though.

Narda Zacchino, book editor, author of "California Comeback: The Genius of Jerry Brown," former

top editor at The L.A. Times and San Francisco Chronicle.

Thank you.

AARON MATE: Thank you.

NARDA ZACCHINO: And thank you for joining us on The Real News Network.

California's major political parties feared the top-two primary but emerged as powerful as before - Duration: 5:48.

California's most wide-open primary in two decades ended Tuesday with contests from governor to seats in the U

S. House that seemed focused, even fixated at times, on the race for second place

The rules of the top-two primary — where a cluster of candidates gets whittled down to two semi-finalists — seemed at times, to eclipse everything else about the campaigns being waged this year

Advertisement Gamesmanship was everywhere. Could a feared opponent be shut out of a spot on the fall ballot? Might a political party's leaders convince some hopefuls in crowded races to step aside and thus avoid splitting the vote? In the end — either because of those efforts or in spite of them — the playing field looked very much like a traditional primary

Unofficial returns on Tuesday showed that only two statewide races, at most, will end up as a same-party showdown in November

Otherwise, and in the overwhelming majority of California's races, the two-party system seems to have survived intact

The candidates who succeeded were largely staunch defenders of either liberal or conservative principles -- moderation was not the big winner in California on election night

And yet backers of the top-two primary, who in 2010 took a wrecking ball to the idea that spots on the November ballot should be reserved by political party, seemed to envision consensus-building candidates who could bridge the partisan divide

"This primary would certainly cast some doubt on that idea," said Eric McGhee, a researcher at the nonpartisan Public Policy Institute of California

Detailed election results » No candidate needed those moderate-minded voters more than Antonio Villaraigosa

The former Los Angeles mayor labored mightily but unsuccessfully to find some sort of coalition of voters in the governor's race that would get him into a one-on-one showdown with Lt

Gov. Gavin Newsom. But party labels survived. And a $22.7 million boost for Villaraigosa from an independent political action committee couldn't match the power of two tweets from President Trump in endorsing Republican John Cox

That may have helped even wavering GOP voters stick with the San Diego businessman rather than split their votes among other candidates — the kind of split that could have allowed Villaraigosa to leapfrog into second place

"This is why parties are useful," McGhee said. "Parties and their leaders provide information for voters, a shortcut that allows them to simplify their decision

" Evidence of a party's imprint in a crowded field of candidates — in this case, its absence — also was clear in the U

S. Senate race. There, the silence of GOP leaders gave party voters no clear sign on what to do with a long list of unknown prospects

Two Democrats, Sen. Dianne Feinstein and state Sen. Kevin de León, likely will face off against each other in November as a result

It's Newsom vs. Cox in November as Villaraigosa tumbles in governor's race » That may have been a casualty Republicans were willing to accept

In an election season where their place in California's pecking order fell below that of unaffiliated voters, GOP leaders could be forgiven for celebrating their relatively strong showing on Tuesday

Not that the primary results suggest the road ahead is any easier. Cox begins the final round in the race for governor as a decided underdog, likely at the level of Neel Kashakri, the GOP challenger in 2014 to Gov

Jerry Brown. Even then, Kashkari offered a pragmatic GOP stance on issues like poverty and education

(He lost to Brown, 60%-40%.) By contrast, Cox has suggested little, if any, daylight exists between himself and Trump on hot-button issues like illegal immigration

If Democrats dominate in November, the 2018 primary may have done little to change the perception that California is solidly blue on the political map

Grumblings about the rules of the top-two system will fade until 2020 rolls around

And ultimately, the major political parties will be faced with the same dilemma that kept them from trying to scrap the rules in 2018: If they want voters to revamp the rules, what else are they willing to give them in return? After all, a recent USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times poll found strong support for a system that allows more than just the narrow choices that were once offered by traditional primaries

A ballot full of names may be confusing, but the idea of fewer choices could be seen by Californians as a non-starter

BREAKING News Out Of California… THEY GOT ALL OF THEM FINALLY!!! LOOK WHAT THEY DID! - Duration: 2:08.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – Four men have been charged with killing a man and dumping

his body in a canyon on Monday, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced.

Hercules Dimitrios Balaskas (dob 5/8/99), Matthew Martin Capiendo Luzon (dob 10/10/96),

Francisco Amigon (dob 1/23/99) and Jacob Hunter Elmendorf (dob 3/10/99) have each been charged

with three counts in case KA118273: first-degree murder with special circumstances, first-degree

residential robbery and kidnapping.

The felony complaint includes three special circumstance allegations of lying in wait

and murder during the commission of a kidnapping and robbery.

Additionally, the charging document alleges that Balaskas personally used a deadly and

dangerous weapon, a metal chair, during the commission of the murder, robbery and kidnapping.

Furthermore, the complaint alleges Luzon personally used a deadly and dangerous weapon, a rock

and broken glass pipe, during the murder, robbery and kidnapping.

Balaskas, Amigon and Elmendorf were scheduled to be arraigned today, but the court appearance

was continued to June 6 in Department N of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Pomona

Branch.

Luzon remains out of custody.

(WHY?!?)

Prosecutors allege Balaskas, Luzon, Amigon and Elmendorf attacked Julian Hamori-Andrade

on May 28.

The four defendants then allegedly kidnapped, robbed and killed the victim and dumped his

body in Azusa Canyon, prosecutors added.

If convicted as charged, each of the defendants faces the death penalty or life in state prison

without the possibility of parole.

The decision whether to seek capital punishment will be made at a later date.

The case is being investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
