Ice Bath! 🛀 | Dark Mode Ep 03 - Duration: 11:13.

Hey guys, as you know, I'm completely obsessed with efficiency,

I would attribute efficiency to most of my success,

and so this is a small thing that I want to share that I think makes all the difference.

I just finished the gym.

I want to go into the sauna.

Now, what I could have done is; I can come back to my apartment, you know,

Just get changed, grab a towel, go up to the sauna, turn it on,

I have to wait about 10 to 15 minutes for it to really get to a temperature

where I'm actually getting some of the benefits.

But instead, what I do is

I first run upstairs, turn the sauna on.

Come back to my apartment,

I prepare all of the clothes that I'm going to put on after I get out of the sauna and take a shower,

I know I'm going to rub this onto my arm after I take a shower to help with the healing,

After I get dressed,

I know that I'm going to go to the cafe, so I put my bag here.

I put my computer, my charger, everything that I need.

I know I'm going to stick this thing on my fingers.

Obviously, I've prepared everything here

so that when I come back out of the sauna, take a shower

I can, as quickly as I possibly can,

get this stuff on, throw my backpack on,

basically as quickly as I can, get to the cafe

So, now when I get back to the sauna,

about 10 minutes have passed.

So it's pretty much at the temperature where I'm actually starting to get the benefits

and I can be more efficient in the sauna as well.

This is a small microcosm of my mindset,

but I can't stress enough.

It's just like making the bed.

It's not just making the bed.

There's an entire world of benefit and in just these little details,

and anyway, I don't want to spend too much time talking about this, but

chew on that for a little bit.

I'm going to hit the sauna.

Bye bye, see you later.

Alright guys, so this is a moment that I've been very much looking forward to,

but at the same time very much not looking forward to.

My inflatable bathtub came in the mail.

You can see it,

straight from China.

I got it on Amazon.

I'm going to start cold water therapy.

In Panama City, a few weeks ago, I had my first experience with cold water therapy.

I spent about 45 minutes in freezing cold water

and I just felt really good.

Felt inflammation leaving my body,

and I felt good.

So I decided I wanted to do the same thing here, in my home, in Medellin.

So I bought this inflatable bathtub.

I got some ice on the way right now.

I just ordered it via, like, a supermarket delivery service, that should be here any minute.

I'm going to get this thing filled up.

The idea is; I'm just going to leave this inflated in my shower,

fill it up with shower water, dump the ice in,

and I just sit for as long as I possibly can.

I'm going to try and go at least 30 minutes.

Maximum, like one hour.

I'll look online to see if there's any risks.

I'm going to get this filled up.

Let's get...-

these things that I imagine I have to stick in somewhere.

It's a tiny hole.

This is the good thing about having abs.

It's a little smaller than the photos,

but it should work...

but it should work, i don't know. Let's see.

There's a fucking hole.

Alright, there's a hole here. So we've got to...-

We'll come back later.

All right, basically...-

This is a lot harder than...-

than a cold shower.

What I should have done is I should have covered myself in hot water first,

and then get in here,

but I'm already starting to acclimate and feel better.

I think what's going to be weird is I'm so bunched up in this thing that

I mean, the last time I did cold water my muscles got so tight that

I'm not sure how I'm going to stand up.

Like I think I can make it, but if I'm in here too long,

my muscles may tighten up the point where, you know, It's just hard to...-

Where it's just hard to to stand up.

So, anyway.

Alright, some I'm about 30 minutes into this

I don't really know how,

I've got to watch videos about this, because it seems...-

I haven't really watched any Wim Hof videos,

but I'd see guys that are just kind of happy in this ice baths

and this is really cool.

I'm in a lot of pain.

I find that if I shiver, it actually hurts more.

My body moves and it hurts more.

So I'm trying to just not shiver...

But I think I need a better overall strategy for this, maybe I need to go into the sauna first and then come in here.

Maybe I need to practice some sort of breathing technique,

but overall, this is extremely painful.

And I'm not going to be able to last much longer.

I know this is good for me,

But yeah,I need a better strategy.

My mind needs to be stronger,or

I need a breathing technique,

or sauna,

or something

All right guys, so overall, is the end of the third day of dark mode, wednesday.

Feeling pretty good.

I think as far as my plan for working out,

my body's feeling really good.

I'm feeling extremely strong.

I have most of the strength back that I lost from the documentary,

I'm still not there,

and I think I need about three weeks to realistically hit the goals that I set for myself.

As far as dance goes,

I'm such an idiot.

For some reason, I thought I had two more weeks with Mayra before she went to the US,

but she left yesterday.

So I've got to figure out how I'm going to find another dance teacher,

I have an idea for that which I think you guys are going to actually enjoy,

and involves some website and Facebook ads.

I'm not going to give you the macros on this

because I've just been eating kind of weird all day today.

I had a bunch of nuts.

I had bunch of almond butter, stuff that I had,

but I will show it to you.

This is a steak,

ground beef with mozzarella cheese and mustard,

all cooked in ghee.

Yeah, I always eat.

I always eat tasty.

So the big development for today was the ice bath.

I think between a weekly massage,

ice baths,

and sauna,

it'll be really interesting to see how incorporating and really getting very serious about these different modes of recovery

affect my ability to not only put on muscle,

but also just affect my overall kind of well-being.

I think the ice baths as a whole are going to be really good for

just systemic inflammation and keeping that down, and yeah, we'll see.

So anyway, I'm going to eat this,

and get back to work.

As always guys,If you enjoyed this episode,

please like.

I love when you guys leave comments.

A bunch of people, everyone loves to just shoot me private messages,

leave me comments on YouTube because that stuff actually helps me.

And of course if you haven't subscribed yet, please subscribe.

See you guys.

Electric Dark Matter? - Duration: 6:50.

Hello Space Fans and welcome to another edition of Space Fan News.

In this episode, astronomers from Harvard are proposing a new model of dark matter that

help explain some observations taken with radio telescopes as part of the EDGES project:

the Experiment to Detect the Global Epoch of Reionization Signature.

The observations were strange and astronomers are proposing that, to help explain them,

perhaps a fraction of dark matter has an electric charge.

I wish I had time to tell you about all the amazing collaborations and projects going

on in astronomy from all over the world, here are just so many of them.

Oh wait, I do, that's why we have SFN…

Anyway, there is this really cool experiment going on right now that I just found out about

called EDGES, the Experiment to Detect the Global Epoch of Reionization Signature.

It's primary instrument is a radio telescope located in a radio quiet zone at the Murchison

Radio Astronomy Observatory in Western Australia and is a collaboration between Arizona State

University and MIT's Haystack Observatory.

A radio quiet zone is an area where radio transmissions are restricted in order to protect

a radio telescope or a communications station from radio frequency interference.

Kind of like a dark-sky initiative for radio telescopes and are usually in sparsely populated

areas..

This radio telescope is looking at a time in cosmic history when neutral hydrogen gas

from the early universe became ionized for the first time due to ultraviolet radiation

from the first stars.

Back in February, scientists from this project said they had detected the radio signature

from the first generation of stars, and possible evidence for interaction between dark matter

and normal matter.

Some astronomers quickly challenged the EDGES claim, but other astronomers immediately began

looking at the theoretical basis of these observations and did what astronomers do,

started constructing mathematical models to explain the observations.

To understand the EDGES observations, let's start with some basics.

The very first stars in the universe were very massive, hot, and bright in the ultraviolet.

These stars only lived a few tens of millions of years or so.

According to the commonly accepted early universe scenario, this UV light interacted with the

cold hydrogen atoms lying between these first star which enabled them to absorb the leftovers

from the Big Bang, the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB).

This absorption should have led to a drop in brightness in the CMB during this period,

which was around 200 million years after the Big Bang.

The EDGES observation did show this absorption, although it has to be confirmed, but the temperature

of the hydrogen gas during this period was half of what was expected, making the absorption

twice what is should have been. Again, a conundrum

Now if it's true that what EDGES measured was in fact the absorption of the CMB by the

first stars in the universe, then why are these stars absorbing so much?

At the time when CMB radiation is being absorbed, any free electrons or protons associated with

ordinary matter would have been moving at their slowest possible speeds (since later

on they were heated by X-rays from the first black holes).

Scattering of charged particles is most effective at low speeds.

So, any interactions between normal matter and dark matter during this time would have

been the strongest if some of the dark matter particles are charged.

This interaction would cause the hydrogen gas to cool because the dark matter is cold,

potentially leaving an observational signature like that claimed by the EDGES project.

Only small amounts of dark matter with weak electrical charge can both explain the EDGES

data and avoid disagreement with other observations.

If most of the dark matter is charged, then these particles would have been deflected

away from regions close to the disk of our own Galaxy, and prevented from re-entering.

Something that conflicts with observations showing that large amounts of dark matter

are located close to the disk of the Milky Way.

It's possible that in the early universe, when free electrons and protons were recombining

into neutral Hydrogen, at time just prior to reionization, maybe the same thing was

happening to dark matter.

Maybe whatever makes up neutral dark matter came together from an as yet unknown charged

dark matter particle but not all of it recombined.

So as you can imagine, there's a lot of checking, confirming, arguing and reconfirming

going on right now, but some astronomers are excited about the idea that the elusive dark

matter, whatever it is, some of it anyway, might actually carry a charge.

I'll keep you posted.

That's it for this episode Space Fans, thanks to all Patreon Patrons who keep SFN on the

intertubes.

These guys in particular, they've been with me for a while.

Thanks to all of you for watching and as always, Keep Looking Up!

Ami Horowitz: The Dark Secret Behind the Iran Deal - Duration: 5:43.

Some of you may be wondering why President Trump decided to get us out of the Iran Deal.

Well, let's discuss it.

In 2015, the United States and President Obama, along with various other countries,

signed the Iran Deal.

The deal was created in order to make sure that Iran can never have the ability to develop

nuclear weapons.

The IAEA, which is the nuclear watchdog of the UN, was given the task as the enforcer

of the deal.

Let's just say they have a spotty record at that particular task.

SONG: France got the bomb, but don't you grieve, 'cus they're on our side I believe.

China got the bomb, but have no fears, they can't wipe us out for at least five years.

Who's next?

So…

Israel's getting tense, wants one in self defense.

"The Lord is our shepherd," says the psalm, but just in case…we better get a bomb.

Who's next? Who's next? Who's next?

Who's Next?

The Iran Deal has been lauded as the only thing between Iran and a nuclear weapon.

One of the chief reasons for optimism is its unprecedented inspection regime led by the IAEA.

For instance, they can inspect any site at any time.

Well, as long as the Iranians don't designate it a military site and after the Iranians

exhaust their official inquiry as to why that site was chosen in the first place, followed

by a 24 hour mandated wait before inspectors are allowed into the site at all.

The actual time from inspection request to boots on the ground?

Well, that may take several months.

And the Iranians, they know how to use their time wisely.

In 2003, the Lavizan facility in Iran was outed as a nuclear weapons site.

The IAEA sought permission to visit the site…a year and a half later.

In the interim, publicly available satellite imagery showed that the entire site was razed

– including the removal of the first 6 feet of top soil – eliminating all traces of evidence.

The IAEA, after inspecting the scrubbed-down site, was satisfied and they considered the matter

to be closed.

But I didn't.

Ami: Now I'm not a nuclear expert, but um…I am playing one in this movie.

You have Lavizan.

There was satellite imagery that showed evidence of a nuclear weapons program.

Explain to the audience why you felt the need to then dig the first 6 feet of topsoil,

remove it, then re-cover it.

What would be the reason behind that?

Soltanieh: That is closed and clearly the IAEA report director general says that that

was absolutely incorrect and there was no evidence of nuclear material or nuclear activities.

And you can read the agency's report at the IAEA website

Ami: But that report is meaningless because you dumped all the evidence.

Soltanieh: No evidence.

You can go to the website, and if you're interested, I can show you

and give you a copy of it.

Ami: Why raze the area and then cover it with soil?

Soltanieh: Look, I think that you're bringing up an obsolete issue but…

Ami: How is it obsolete?

Soltanieh: That's very old stuff.

The important thing – as I go back again – rather than you and me discuss about it,

it is better to leave it to the experts; inspectors.

Gary Milhollin: It's supposed to sound the alarm when elicit nuclear activity is discovered.

But so far, it's been very reluctant to do that.

Ami: I think it's established, it's clear you're not building nuclear weapons.

I think you made the argument very fine.

But if you did build a nuclear weapon, what country would you blow up first?

Soltanieh: The question is wrong.

Ami: So I have your word?

You're not building nuclear weapons?

Soltanieh: Certainly. 100% And I totally reject any of these allegations.

Ami: So, like the IAEA, that's good enough for me.

A way out is to have a timeout.

Iran will take a timeout.

The international community will also take a timeout.

Mark Kirk: Let the United Nations handle this incompetently and [you] allow Iran

to have nuclear weapons.

It was all about process.

It was not about results.

The results were worthless.

Now are they intending to kill someone?

Or are they only intending to defend themselves?

But how do you know whether they have that intention or not?

It's impossible to say such a country has that intention.

Then again, what is the intention?

Ami: Only God knows…and anyone who reads.

So Americans can sleep soundly?

Duarte: Not all Americans, I hope that everyone else can also sleep soundly.

Ami: The IAEA is on the watch.

Duarte: Yes

Music

Charles Duelfer: Process is an outcome at the UN.

It is a way of avoiding and kicking a problem down the road.

A single country like Iran can play to them.

They can say "All we need to do is buy some time."

Ami: And the Iran Deal did just that.

Robert Mueller Is Hiding A Dark Secret That He Is Terrified Will Get Out - Duration: 11:22.

Robert Mueller Is Hiding A Dark Secret That He Is Terrified Will Get Out

Robert Mueller is always portrayed in the anti-Trump media as a "by the book" prosecutor

who calls it like he sees it.

But that couldn't be farther from the truth.

Mueller is hiding a dark secret that could ruin him if it go out.

Americans were stunned when Simona Mangiante – the wife of George Papadopoulos – gave

a shocking interview with the Daily Caller where she detailed the truth about her husband's

role in the Mueller investigation.

Papadopoulos pled guilty to one count of lying to the FBI about when he met with Maltese

professor Joseph Mifsud who allegedly told him the Russians had damaging material on

Hillary Clinton.

Mangiante strongly denied that Papadopoulos was involved in any sort of Russian collusion,

but she did reveal why he pled guilty to such a minor process crime.

Mueller was threatening to grind up Papadopoulos with charges of being an Israeli agent.

The Daily Caller reports,

"Mangiante also said Papadopoulos "pled guilty because [Mueller's prosecutors] threatened

to charge him with being an Israeli agent."

This is not the first time Mueller has chased the ghosts of Israeli spies.

And it is leading critics to raise an uncomfortable question about whether Mueller has a bias

against Israel.

When Mueller was the FBI Director, the Bureau concocted a plan to entrap two American Israeli

Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) lobbyists into accepting and transmitting classified

information to Israel.

The scheme involved undercover agents feeding false information that U.S. and Israeli officials

in Iraq were in life-threatening danger and the government wouldn't lift a finger to

protect them.

Keith Weissman and Steve Rosen – the two lobbyists Mueller worked to entrap – turned

around and essentially shouted the information from the rooftops and offered it to anyone

they could because they thought it was the only way to save the lives of the endangered

officials.

They even pushed the Washington Post to publish the information in the hopes it would alert

the public and force the U.S. government to take action to save lives.

The two were charged under a section of the Espionage Act—which had never before been

used to successfully prosecute private citizens.

Mueller saw the case end in disgrace when the government dropped all charges against

Weissman and Rosen after three-and-a-half years of legal battles.

That wasn't the only time Mueller saw questionable Israeli agents under every bed.

During the current Russia investigation, Mueller reportedly has dug into Trump's son-in-law,

Jared Kushner, for maneuvering the incoming administration to oppose the Obama administration's

support of a resolution condemning Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

The Mueller investigation is a train wreck.

The special counsel has uncovered no evidence of collusion, nor has he charged anyone with

a conspiracy to coordinate with a foreign power to influence the election.

Now Mueller's tactics in strong-arming Papadopoulos are forcing a closer re-examination of Mueller's

history with chasing imaginary Israeli agents.

Critics are wondering if the special counsel has an Israel problem.

What do you think?

Give us your

thoughts in the comment section.

Ask EmbraceRace: Our son complains about his dark skin color. How can we help? - Duration: 3:55.

My name is Aisha White and I'm the Director of the PRIDE -- positive racial

identity development in early education -- program at the University of Pittsburgh

School of Education, Office of Child Development. Racially and ethnically,

I identify as African American. This letter came in from Jamila in Pittsburgh.

Dear EmbraceRace, My husband and I are proudly African American and

have two beautiful children together. We vary in skin color from medium to dark

brown. We do what we can to create an environment for our kids that affirms

them but despite our efforts my six-year-old son often tells me he

doesn't like his dark skin. I think part of the problem stems from school. The

school he goes to is pretty diverse but he happens to be the darkest kid in his class.

Any suggestions for helping him get to a better place would be appreciated!

Jamila, I would begin by saying to you and your husband that it's really great

that the two of you are already affirming your kids race and culture and ethnicity.

But sometimes some children need a little more, which takes me to my second

point. That is that dark skin has been vilified in this country for

centuries because so it's going to take a long time and a lot of hard work for

people to change those attitudes. We need to work at both the macro and

the micro level and at the micro level it means having one-to-one conversations

with your child about this issue. Which takes me to my third a bit of advice, and

that comes from Dr. Beverly Daniels Tatum who had a similar experience with her

six-year-old son. He was going to a predominantly white preschool and one

day he came home and asked her if he had brown skin because he drank chocolate

milk. She told him that, no, he didn't have brown skin because of drinking chocolate

milk. He got it from his mom and from his dad and from his grandmother and

his ancestors and he also got it from something called melanin. And she told

him that, not only did he have melanin in his body, but he had more melanin than

anybody else at the school. That made her son feel really good that he had

more of something and so it also opened up an opportunity for her and her son to

have these conversations. Which takes me to my fourth point which is that it's

really good to continue the dialogue but sometimes your child might not bring the

issue up on their own sometimes you have to be proactive. I would recommend two

picture books for that. One is fiction and it's called "Chocolate Me" and it's

by Taye Diggs. It's about an African American boy who was very brown

and who has a very big afro and he's teased because of those two things.

He's able to work through being teased by talking with his parents about it and

the story has a fun, happy ending. The other I would recommend is a nonfiction

book called "All the Colors We Are," the story of where we get our skin color

and it's by Kate Kissinger. It has really useful scientific information about the

three ways we get melanin -- our parents, the sun, and the melanin that we actually

have in our body. I would recommend both of those books as a way for you to

start talking with your son even if he doesn't bring the issue up ever again.
