I need to be motivated - Duration: 3:35.

Hi. My name is Bill Benoist and I'm a certified professional career coach here

in Silicon Valley, and in today's video I'm gonna talk about motivation. So, if

you're someone who struggles with motivation, struggles with getting

started; definitely stay for this video as I'm going to share with you the

secret to success when it comes to motivation.

Motivation has been a hot topic recently, especially in some of the bestsellers. I

think the last three books that have actually purchased, there's been some

chapter on motivating. And motivation, let me tell you motivation is not about the

carrot and the stick. In fact, the carrot and the stick

approach is not going to work when it comes to motivation. And you don't really

need to go into this deep thinking about intrinsic motivators and extrinsic

motivators. Motivation revolves around success. You know, one of my favorite

coaches was John Madden of the Oakland Raiders, and I remember him once saying,

"Success breeds success." And it's part of this equation:

motivation breeds success, success can breed more motivation. You think about it -

the more you are successful, you are more motivated to start doing

something. But what we're missing here is how to get motivated, and I'm gonna save

you some money because all of the books

that are out there right now they pretty

much say the same thing: when it comes to motivation, and that is, you just simply

have to get started. Action is what happens to start up motivation. So, it's

action + motivation equals success. Action has to come first. You know, if you

want to rewrite your resume, but you're just trying to find the motivation to do it,

just simply start. Once you get started, the motivation is gonna kick in and then

you're gonna end up being successful. You want to redo your LinkedIn profile, but

you just can't find it in yourself to start, find it in yourself to start.

Because once you get started, you're gonna start having the motivation. And if

the motivation is going to bring success, I know this sounds simple - I totally get

it sounds simple, but this is the recipe for success: action, motivation, success.

And then success will bring more motivation. It's like a flywheel out

there. So I'm saving you a few bucks. You don't have to go out and buy the latest

bestsellers, because that's what they're gonna tell you to get motivated. You

first have to just started. You just have to start, and then once you get started

the motivation is gonna kick in. I know it sounds simple, but it works. So if you

found this video informative and useful, and I hope you did, even though it's very

simplistic in nature, definitely subscribe to this channel as I do upload

a new career strategy and tip every Tuesday. And by the way, if you are

currently in the job market and you're interviewing, make sure that you check

out my free download in the notes section below: The Top 5 Interview

Questions that any Hiring Manager really wants to know about you.

Again, thank you for stopping by and I will see you in the next video
