At least seven people were still missing in Shasta County, California, as the monstrous Carr Fire continued to grow Sunday, authorities said

Sixteen people had been reported missing, but nine of those were found safe, according to Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko, who spoke at a Sunday news conference

Redding Police Sgt. Todd Cogle said, "We're finding that there are a lot of communication issues" making it hard to locate residents

"We spoke with several people who left their cell phones at their residences and in this day and age people don't remember people's phone numbers," Cogle said

The fire, fueled by high winds and dry conditions, has chewed through 89,194 acres since Monday and is only 5% contained, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, known as Cal Fire

High temperatures, low humidity and increased winds are all in the forecast, setting the stage for more explosive fire behavior, Chris Harvey with the Cal Fire Incident Management Team said Sunday

he blaze doubled in size Saturday. Flames have destroyed 517 structures in the Redding area, Cal Fire said

The erratic flames are blamed for six deaths, including 70-year-old Melody Bledsoe and her great-grandchildren, 4-year-old Emily Roberts and 5-year-old James Roberts

The three had been missing since Thursday when their house was engulfed by flames

Family members confirmed Saturday that they died."With a heavy heart we are sad to inform you all that Mel and the great-grandbabies were confirmed to be in the home," the family said on a GoFundMe page

Another person was found dead after a fire consumed a house, Bosenko said Sunday."This fire is scary to us

This is something we haven't seen before in the city," Redding Police Chief Roger Moore told reporters Friday night

More than 3,000 fire personnel are battling the flames with more than 300 engines and 17 helicopters, Cal Fire reported

The fire began Monday when a vehicle suffered mechanical failure, officials said. Firefighters had been making progress containing it until Thursday night, when it began to quickly spread

Before they were able to evacuate their home on Thursday, Melody Bledsoe and her two great-grandchildren — Emily Roberts, 4, and James Roberts, 5 — became victims of the Carr fire, Melody's great-granddaughter Shelly Hoskison told KNTV

Once Bledsoe realized the danger her family was in, she called her husband Ed

"She said, 'You need to come home right now. The fire's right next to our house,'" Ed told Capital Public Radio

At that time, she was without a car and had no way of safely fleeing the area

Hoskison told KNTV that her grandmother did call the police, but the line went dead in the middle of the call

Cal OES NEWS UPDATE: Statewide Fires Update July 29, 2018 - Duration: 1:42.

I'm Bryan May in the State Operations Center Cal OES headquarters, I just want

to give you an update on the largest of the fires that are burning across

California on this Sunday morning and there are about twelve large wildfires

burning it this morning. I'm gonna run down the top four of those

and we'll start at the northern part of the state and work our way down. So the

Carr Fire, that's the large one in Shasta County, over 89,000 acres

and still just five percent contained, latest number about five hundred

structures destroyed in that fire so far. Working our way down to the Mendocino

Complex fire this is a fire that spans both Mendocino and Lake counties, they

combined it into one, it was two fires originally, it's now one large fire

24,000 acres, 10% containment and overnight that fire caused a massive

power outage in those two counties Mendocino and Lake County at one point,

there were about 37,000 people without power as of this morning all but about

500 of those have been restored. In Mariposa County, the Ferguson Fire, that's

the one that's had blanketed the

Yosemite valley with smoke, the Ferguson

Fire over 53,000 acres now containment up to 30% and then in Riverside County,

the Cranston Fire, 13,130 acres, containment at 29%. All of these fires

still very dynamic with incredibly hot temperatures across the state so, firefighters

continue to work on people getting back to their homes as safely and as soon as

possible. You can continue to monitor all of our social media feeds Facebook

Twitter as well as our OES news.com We'll have updates throughout the day.

For all of us at Cal OES I'm Bryan May, thanks for watching.

Six dead as experts say California wildfires are out of control - Duration: 7:55.

The deadly Northern California wildfire that has forced tens of thousands of people to flee their homes and burned virtually unchecked since Thursday has claimed its sixth victim

Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko said Sunday a body was found within the boundary of the Carr Fire near Redding, California, about 230 miles north of San Francisco

He said the victim, who was not identified, had been in an area which had been covered by an evacuation warning, but had not evacuate as instructed

Bosenko said the sheriff's department has seven outstanding missing persons reports

The fire had previously claimed the lives of two firefighters, as well as two children and their great-grandmother

With the death toll climbing to six, authorities worried that another forecast for high winds could fan the flames even further

'Right now, it's going everywhere. We still have a lot of open line,' said Anthony Romero, a spokesman for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection

'Any event could bring this back up again.' The National Weather Service predicted more hot and dry conditions, with wind gusts expected late in the afternoon

Triple-digit temperatures and dry vegetation are making it difficult for crews to corral the blaze, which is said to be only five per cent contained

Wildfires around the state have forced roughly 50,000 people from their homes, said Lynne Tolmachoff, a Cal Fire spokeswoman

About 12,000 firefighters were battling 17 significant fires Sunday in California, she said

'We are well ahead of the fire activity we saw last year,' she said. 'This is just July, so we're not even into the worst part of fire season

'However, late Sunday afternoon, fire officials said that crews have been able to stop some of the growth of the blaze, finally gaining ground as opposed to being strictly in a defensive posture

California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection Incident Commander Bret Gouvea said the fire was not moving nearly as fast as it did earlier and that he was optimistic and expected containment numbers to increase

So far, the fire has burned 139 square miles (360 square kilometers) and destroyed more than 500 buildings, threatening thousands of other buildings

Keswick, California, a mountain town of about 450 people, was almost completely wiped out

The San Bernardino County Fire Department was called in to tamp down smoking piles of debris that were scattered amid downed electricity lines

Anna Noland, 49, was evacuated twice in three days before learning through video footage that her house had burned

She planned to stay at a shelter at Simpson College in Redding, while searching for another place to live

'I think I'm still in shock,' Noland said. 'It's just unbelievable knowing you don't have a house to go back to

'Noland was among the 38,000 people who evacuated after the so-called Carr Fire roared into the outskirts of Redding in Shasta County

The fatalities included two firefighters and a woman and her two great-grandchildren

'My babies are dead,' Sherry Bledsoe said through tears after she and family members met Saturday with sheriff's deputies

Her two children, five-year-old James Roberts and four-year-old Emily Roberts, were stranded with their great-grandmother, Melody Bledsoe, 70, when flames swept through the family's rural property Thursday on the outskirts of Redding

Eight-one-year-old Don Ray Smith was a bulldozer operator who was helping clear vegetation in the path of the wildfire when he died

Redding Fire Inspector Jeremy Stoke was also killed, though no details were provided

A vehicle problem ignited the fire July 23, but it wasn't until Thursday that the blaze exploded in size and raced into populated areas west of Redding before entering city limits

On Saturday, it pushed southwest of Redding, the largest city in the region, toward the tiny communities of Ono, Igo and Gas Point

The fire grew slightly Sunday to 139 square miles (360 square kilometers). It is the largest fire burning in California, threatening more than 5,000 structures

The flames were just 5 percent contained. The latest tally showed at least 517 structures destroyed and another 135 damaged, Romero said

A count by The Associated Press found at least 300 of those structures were homes

The firefighters killed in the blaze included Don Ray Smith, 81, of Pollock Pines, a bulldozer operator who was helping clear vegetation in the path of the wildfire

Redding Fire Inspector Jeremy Stoke was also killed, but details of his death were not released

Bledsoe's relatives were among more than a dozen people reported missing after the furious wind-driven blaze took residents by surprise and leveled several neighborhoods

The sheriff said he expects to find several of those people alive and just out of touch with loved ones

Officers have gone to homes of several people reported missing and found cars gone - a strong indication they fled

About 100 miles (160 kilometers) southwest of Redding, two blazes that prompted mandatory evacuations in Mendocino County destroyed four homes and threatened more than 4,500 buildings, officials said

They had blackened 39 square miles (101 square kilometers) and were each 5 percent contained

Authorities also issued evacuation orders in Napa County, famous for its wine, when a fire destroyed eight structures

The blaze had blackened 150 acres, but was 50 percent contained on Sunday.Big fires continued to burn outside Yosemite National Park and in the San Jacinto Mountains east of Los Angeles near Palm Springs

Those blazes had burned nearly 100 square miles (260 square kilometers).Yosemite Valley remained closed to visitors and will not reopen until Friday

California Thrift Trip // épisode 1 - Duration: 7:31.

Hello

My name is Victoire

I live in Paris

What i love the most in life is finding vintage clothes

I can spend days in the capital

looking for forgotten treasures

But my favorite thing to do

is the vintage hunt while travelling

I'm lucky to have turned my passion into a job

I've created Prologue Vintage with my friend Suzie

the culmination of our passions

And last month

I went in California for two weeks

[Let's see what California has in store for vintage]

From this trip was born the California collection

I went on this road trip with my boyfriend

When we planned it, we knew it would be more than just holidays

besides, I have never been as selective as for this collection

[That's a little bit too much...]

[It's too big]

In 14 days, we have traveled 1500 miles

hunt in more than 90 thrift stores

and review tons of clothes

and we loved it

Starting by San Francisco

[Wow, that colors are so beautiful]

More precisely, in Haight Ashbury neighborhood

That's where you can find the most of vintage stores

[I wanna die

in this dress]

But not really in my budget

So we started to look in thrift stores

[shelves, shelves, shelves, shelves, shelves, shelves]

It was hard at the beginning

[That's too big]

There were interesting pieces, but it wasn't "love at first sight"

Until this first piece

[This one I love it]

I really like this dress

Look at the transparent effect on the knees

and especially

each pearls are hand embroidered

It's hours of work

[I think it's coming in Paris with me]

The next day we went to get a car

and then...

[When it's actually less expensive to get a mustang

than a regular car with an extra GPS]

We did not really understand what happened but hey

we got a convertible!

The road trip could finally start

On our way we stopped in Santa Cruz

I found there two new pieces

That cotton skirt perfectly represents

the late 1960's in California

hippy vibe, floral pattern

pastel colors

we can feel it has a past

and then, there is this swimsuit

a real masterpiece

it's from the 80's

I love that buckle on the side

the draped effect

the color

the backless

in fact, everything

After those founds, we started looking for a motel

and made a stop in Monterey

The next morning, we wanted to try beans

[so much beans... In fact we are looking

at all the pieces

people have donated

before it's been processed

that's why it's so cheap]

We did not found anything

But we didn't quit and at the next thrift store...

[So beautiful]

[so, so beautiful]

I'm crazy about that backless

and that watercolor pattern with turquoise reflects

it's just perfect

it's not the only piece I found that day

Monterey spoiled me

Let me introduce you the perfect orange dress

by Calvin Klein

then, this really pretty raw silk shirt

I really love the pistachio color and the bateau collar

Before my trip I had the ambition to found some 90's Tommy Hilfiger

This one is perfect

It's a straight shape

100% cotton

made in USA

Last piece found in Monterey

and one of my favorite of this collection

[That is SO beautiful]

The bell shape, the shell neckline

the cross back

the waterproof material that makes the dress shine

It's the perfect little black dress

and it's also a Calvin Klein

After this successful treasure hunting

we took the road towards Morro bay passing by Big Sur

short break

a little clip from my first test for this video

That's mostly because it makes me laugh

[Sorry, english speaking people

I wanna put the subtitles

around here

Plus I know nobody understands my accent

so... it's better If I speak French and

you... you follow the subtitles

and that's it]

and here we go again

more fittings

and then a stop in El Capitan beach

Before the end of the day

we stopped for one last thrift store in Santa Barbara

It's a 90's Anne Taylor

another black dress

but this one is 100% silk

I love the extra material on the back

which makes it extremely sophisticated

It's the ideal dress for a special occasion

The next day we went to Ventura

close to Los Angeles

I found there the last piece of this episode

an authentic lifeguard swimsuit

it might have saved lives

We are at the middle of the road trip

and the middle of this collection

I hope you liked it

if so, please

like

share

and comment this video

You can also follow me on instagram

and discover the entire California Collection

on prologuevintage.com

as for me, I'm going to start
