Vice President Mike Pence says the partial government shutdown wasn't 'a mistake' — it proved Donald Trump's determination to build a border wall

Pence sat down with CBS News' Jeff Glor for a post-State of the Union interview, in which the anchor asked him if it was a 'mistake' to close parts of the federal government for 35 days

'I never think it's a mistake to stand up for what you believe in,' Pence told CBS News, 'and I think what the American people admire most about this president is he says what he means and he means what he says, in a very real sense

' The VP said the incident was evidence that Trump will do everything in his power to keep his 2016 campaign promise to build a wall along the United States' border with Mexico to keep foreign nationals from entering the country illegally

'He said there was a crisis at our southern border, he said he was determined to get the funding to build a wall and secure our border, and he was willing to take a stand to accomplish that,' Pence asserted

The president suddenly announced last month that he would sign legislation to reopen the government for three weeks while a bipartisan group of negotiators works on a plan to fund the wall and provide Democrats enough sweeteners to vote for it

He's openly offered them three years of protections for two groups of migrants, but they're refusing to budge on a barrier, regardless of what Trump calls it

Without a consensus, DHS and other agencies will go into default again on Feb.15.Trump has not ruled out another shutdown, even though his party has said they do not have the appetite for it

'Now, we agreed to reopen the government for three weeks, because after talking to Democrat rank and file members of the Senate and of the House, we were told they were willing to work with us,' Pence said Wednesday

'They were willing to fund a barrier at our southern border and to address the other priorities that the president laid out in that common sense approach

' He added, 'We've taken them at their word, but the American people saw this president is absolutely determined to keep his word to secure our border and end the crisis of illegal immigration

' After a live CNBC interview, which he did from the White House lawn, Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin said that the administration remains 'hopeful' that the committee will come up with a solution in the next nine days

'I don't think it's the president's objective to have a shutdown.I think its the president's objective to have the Democrats and Republicans come up with a compromise solution to put on his desk to sign, and I am hopeful we get there,' he said

Of the border security issues that Trump is concerned about, the 'physical barrier is one of them,' but there are others, he contended

'I hope that the Democrats and the Republicans are working around the clock to come up with a compromise for the president,' the Cabinet member said

On CBS, Glor also questioned Pence about the president's controversial assault on congressional investigations during his State of the Union address

'Look, congressional oversight is a part of the checks and balances of our system,' the former Indiana congressman said

Pence insisted that Trump was referring specifically to probes that are fueled by partisan backbiting and not a search for the facts

'What the president referred to last night was partisan investigations,' he replied

'And, you know, you've spoken about the president, you know his feelings about, about investigations on Capitol Hill

'We don't object to oversight, that's the proper role of committees in Congress. But, when it takes on a partisan tint, when it, when it it seems more intent on becoming a forum for invective against the president and the administration, the American people expect better,' Pence asserted

He said, 'The American people want to see the Congress addressing the issues that the president laid out last night

'And the president laid out a positive agenda for a growing American economy, for a stronger military, for an America that's addressing real challenges that are facing American families — that's what the American people want our Congress focused on

Building a tiny house on wheels - out of recycled material / Arrival of The trailer 001 - Duration: 5:47.

So, life is interesting!

I just received a message from Mika, his the owner of this property.

Hope you can hear something,

cause I have this microphone that

has been in the washing machine at least four times...

So I received this message from Mika, that the trailer is on the way

and I came here fast to shovel the snow,

but there was a tractor already before me.

I hope everything goes well,

now we just wait...

... That's it, oh my God!

Oh my God, they are going to a wrong place!

Oh my!

Perfect timing,

they came!

Oh my...

Oh my...

Hello!

There it is!

Oops!

This is quite long, this thing you have here.

"Well, it has to be long, when the trailer is so long"

"Is it coming there?"

Yeah. You can drive straight,

and then turn around, and then you drive backwards there.

"I'll take my hat, and go and have a look."

Okay.

Exciting!

Oh, amazing!

Hehe, I cannot even park my

own little car backwards.

I can't imagine what it's like to drive such a big trailer.

Now it is easy to estimate,

that when the house is onboard,

that how can we get it out of here, because it gets one meter wider.

"You should probably drive it straight there and then adjust."

At this point it must be said, that the original plan

to have the trailer in our yard was

absurd and ridiculous!

We will try again.

This reminds me of my rabbit going back and forward this morning.

Here it seems to be just fine…

Except this is not the place for the trailer.

The place is there, where Mika is standing.

What are we going to do now?

"Probably plan B."

Plan B? Do we have a plan B?

"Always."

"Then there is no other option,

if it really does not turn,

we leave it there, and make more space

and then take ... (?)"

"Or if you have a shorter tractor?"

"Are the brakes of the trailer working?"

"Yes, yes."

Here it's easy to see, that I don't understand anything about such things,

because I could not know even guess in advance

how this kind of a trailer will turn or not turn.

Again, another try. We will see if it will fit this time.

It's not like it is impossible,

but it kind of is.

They said one last try.

Annoying how close it is.

It would have needed just a bit more space.

"The car must now turn from this way"

Okay.

It does not fit.

Well yep. I'm already indoors, as I got quite cold when standing

1,5 hours in a freezing weather wearing my spring jacket.

So the truck came from here,

and then here,

that went good.

These lovely black drawings are the buildings.

Our aim was to drive backwards the trailer from here to here.

But the thing we did not consider,

that the trailer was pulled by a truck ten meters long.

So it got stuck here, and just didn't bend enough.

At this moment, the trailer is transversely like this.

Here we have a big pile of snow,

and in that snow, there is four cars

that are fully covered.

When I left the scene, situation was

that there were two people,

who didn't want their face on this video

- still, thank you!

So the two men started to shovel the snow, to remove the cars here.

Before I got home, Mika had already send me a sms saying

that he had arranged someone to come with another truck in couple of days

– and when this area becomes empty,

we will re-attach the trailer and move it to its place.

As you might have guessed, in such a project - nothing goes as planned,

but I hope for the best,

and go to rest, so I would get rid of this fever soon.

#PitchChris Episode 20! Building a Fanbase - Headshots for Different Roles - Hiring a Talent Manager - Duration: 5:49.

On this episode of #PitchChris, Why is it so important for an actor or actress to build

his or her fanbase, Should you have different headshots for different roles and At what

point in your career should you bring on a talent manager?

Hi and Welcome to episode 20 of #PitchChris where you guys ask me questions about the

entertainment business and I'm going to answer them for you.

To ask me a question, find me on social media @ChrisDeBlasio #PitchChris and I'll be happy

to answer all the questions you guys have.

This first question comes from Keith.

Let's see what Keith has got to say.

Hey Chris, Keith Kraft here.

We're on set here with my production that's going to be Blues

of Christmas, The Merry Blues of Christmas.

But anyways I love your show so my question for you is as an actor I know there is publicist

out there that help us promote our image once we have one but my question is how do you

really get that image.

I know when talking to a lot of acting instructors they're like well you got to brand yourself

first and then you know really work that image and then you can move on, kind of expand from

those roles.

So if there are companies out there that are really great for developing an image for actors

and stuff like that that's what I'd really like to know.

You know, where do we reach out to them and stuff like that and if they have certain people

they like to work with and you know the type of cost and stuff like that involved.

So that's my question to you and look forward to working with you and I'll talk to you real soon.

Thanks so much.

Hey Keith, personal branding is huge for an actor, let me tell you the reason why.

Because producers like myself are going to be looking for actors that have a huge following.

A lot of films, most films actually are funded by A-list Talent.

Well, that A-list Talent has a following and the reason why producers love putting A-list

talent in their movies is because it puts butts in seats.

We know that because of that following, we know people are going to go see that movie

so as a working actor, developing your image and putting your brand out there is going

to be very important because you're increasing your value the more followers that you have

so yes there are companies that out there you can grab yourself a publicist.

Publicists help a lot with your image.

Our company Agency 850, we do a lot of branding for a corporate CEO's but we also do branding

for people in the entertainment business so give us a shout if you're looking for some

representation on branding yourself but that's very important as an actor because you want

to be able to have that image out there and increase your value.

Hi Chris.

my name is Pakob Jarernpone.

I'm an actor from Ohio and my question is as far as headshots are concerned do you think

it's necessary to have more than one headshot for different looks because I noticed that

when I shave my beard and facial hair, it does age me down quite a bit and it changes

my appearance completely.

Do you think its necessary to have more than one as an industry standard or is one enough?

Having multiple headshots, I think is really good because what that is doing is putting

you in a different light.

Like as you mentioned, you shave and you're a totally different person.

The casting director actually sees that right so also having different headshots for different

specific very hyper-specific roles like something in the military maybe you're wearing a green

shirt throw on some dog tags, grow a little scruff right that's going to make you look

a little bit different as opposed to you know so you're going out for a role as a doctor.

Maybe you're wearing a lab coat or a white dress shirt with a stethoscope or something

like that, a clean shave right that's going to actually paint the picture for a casting director.

So yeah, I would say having separate headshots for different roles and submitting those very

specifically could up your chances on landing that role.

So having multiple headshots will definitely give you a little boost.

As an actor, how important is having a manager?

Also as an actor, what are some of the steps that can be taken to get the attention of

producers and casting directors.

Hey Troy, thanks for your question.

So having a talent manager, if you don't have any credits and you don't have anything.

I wouldn't start there.

I would start with building your resume on your own first.

Doing self-submissions, booking some jobs, getting training because managers really they're

going to be very helpful once you're busy and you have a lot of things going on and

they're managing your schedule.

They're connecting you with certain people in the business but once you're at that point

where you've got a couple of credits on your resume maybe start looking for a manager and

to answer the second part of your question, a lot of times managers can make those introductions

to producers and to casting directors and some of their contacts too so they could be

beneficial but the biggest thing is you know you want to build your credits on your own

just starting out and network, network, network.

You want to go to these industry events, you want to go a lot of these casting directors

they'll do seminars go to those seminars.

Film Festivals, a lot of Film Festivals will have panel discussions with executive producers

or casting directors.

Stick around see if you can chat it up with them after the event and build those relationships

but you start doing those things on your own.

Start building a resume, once you get to a certain point get a manager to take you to

that next level.

So that's all for today's episode, great questions.

To ask me a question find me on social media @ChrisDeBlasio #PitchChris and I'll be happy

to answer all the questions you guys have.
