Meghan Markle celebrated the upcoming arrival of her first baby with husband Harry at a private baby shower in the exclusive The Mark Hotel in New York
The Duchess of Sussex is reported to have received numerous presents for the royal tot – some of which appear to suggest the gender of the baby – but friend Gayle King revealed Meghan surprised them all with her decision not to open the gifts
The CBS anchorwoman said the Duchess had decided to wait until her return to London to make sure Harry was available to open the presents with her
Asked what she had decided to get Meghan, Ms King said: "If I told you I would have to kill you because she didn't open any of the gifts because she wants to do that when she and Harry are back together
"So I really don't know what everybody got her. I got something I think is very nice
But she is a very private person so I think she should decide what she wants to say about this
"A good time was had by all, that's what I'll say." Ms King also shed some light on the activities Meghan and her friends enjoyed at the event, saying the Duchess had "generously" donated the flowers to a New York charity after she and the guests had learned how to arrange bouquets from an expert

They did flower decoration – flower arranging – they brought in someone to explain how to arrange flowers
"We all each made an individual vase and then Meghan got in touch with an organisation I had never heard of, Repeat Roses, and all of those were donated to different charities
I thought that was a very sweet thing. "It speaks to who she is. She is very kind, very generous, and a really, really sweet person
I think her friends just wanted to celebrate her." Genevieve Hillis, Meghan's best friends and fellow sorority sister at Northwestern University, had tennis superstar Serena Williams help her arrange the exclusive baby shower at the end of a five-day visit to New York before the Duchess flew back to London
A host of celebrity guests were seen arriving including Meghan's former Suits co-star Abigail Spencer and designer Misha Nonoo, who is thought to be the mystery pal who set up Meghan and Harry
Meghan's best friend and stylist Jessica Mulroney was also on the guest list but Meghan's mother Doria Ragland, who lives in Los Angeles, was noticeably absent
Sister-in-law Kate was also absent from the bash as she was reportedly on a ski holiday with her husband Prince Harry and their three children – George, Charlotte and Louis
The Cambridges chose this time because it is the half-term holiday so Prince George, 5, would not be at school
A Royal source told The Sun the family has gone on a "snow-filled holiday". While Kate missed out on the celebrations Meghan enjoyed the company of her A-lister friends, including Human Rights lawyer Amal Clooney and make-up artist Daniel Martin
Mr Martin sparked speculation among royal fans that Meghan and Harry could soon be welcoming a baby boy after he shared a sweet photo of the baby-themed treats guests were given at the party
The photo show biscuits shaped and decorated in white and pale blue icing - indicating that Meghan could be expecting a baby boy
The biscuits feature a stork carrying a newborn in a blanket with a blue tinge, as well as a rattle and a bib with the word "baby" written in black icing

It's kind of recycling your old beads
I used one bead for one sequin
I did 3 rows near each other
and then started to sew it more and more losely
I did it the same on the other side
I started with 4 rows on the back side
I made a triangle on the sleeve
I connected back side
and then started to add more and more sequins...
And that's it!
It looks unique and new!

The thing that's cool is that your glasses will kind of
reflect differently. Yeah.

So you're kind of moving with different...

The key light today is a beauty dish which is an
amazing, amazing light modifier because inside of here
there's a little white dish and so the light hits the
dish and then reflects around in a circle.
This bad boy is a six foot umbrella.
And the light is facing into that and then reflecting out.
And its gonna create great fill for us so that
the shadows that the beauty dish creates is just
gonna be filled in more so the contrast is a little less.
The last element operating today are these two background
lights and, I use strip banks which are really great
because it spreads and creates a nice even wall of light.
So these are angled towards the background
to illuminate the background.
They are also creating a little bit of what's called spill.
Its also making sure that the background stays white.
Otherwise those lights that are the main source of light
would be fading into a little bit of a gray
which is also beautiful, but today we want this to be
a little bit, hotter, punchier, whiter.
Love that and then lets do some with the glasses up.

Meanwhile, Meghan's husband Prince Harry recently admitted impending fatherhood has made him more aware of his 'responsibility' to the world
Speaking at a Commonwealth youth discussion in London last month, he said: 'As someone who is about to become a father, I am acutely aware of our shared responsibility to make this world more resilient and its inhabitants more accountable for the next generation

Gayle King said on CBS This Morning that she and other guests were taught how to arrange flowers at the party, and that Markle then donated those arrangements to various charities
She also said that she could not reveal the gift that she purchased for Markle because the guest of honor did not open any of her presents, choosing instead to wait until she got back to London and was with Prince Harry

family of very strong women, where my grandmother taught me from age three
that to be independent and never have to depend on anyone and be your own person
and when the opportunity came to go to college in the United States I told my
parents I would like to go to the United States and I did!
I majored in economics and decided you know work in Wall Street and had an
amazing career of nine years in Wall Street where I was fortunate enough to
be the first woman vice president in investment banking at Merrill Lynch.
"The numbers are have greatly improved"
Although my background is involved in
finance I've had to face what every other business owner has to - in terms of
growing pains of the business. Being part of the Wells Fargo family, to

Samantha Markle, 54, of Ocala, Florida, said the pregnant royal should be allowed to enjoy her lavish baby shower but should also take the opportunity to meet with Thomas Markle Sr, 74
The Duchess of Sussex, 37, has been on a private visit to New York since Thursday and was seen enjoying macaroons at French patisserie Ladurée in Soho over the weekend
Earlier on Tuesday, she visited the Met Breuer art gallery with former Suits co-star Abigail Cooper
Although her mother Doria Ragland, 62, was not on the guest list and was seen running errands more than 2,500 miles away in Los Angeles on Tuesday morning, Samantha said Meghan should take the time to reach out to their father
Speaking in an exclusive interview with DailyMailTV, she said: 'Setting all personal things aside, I understand a baby shower is an exciting time – it's about getting with friends, getting things ready for the baby
'But you are on this continent Meghan and I would just really love to see her have contact with my dad while she's here
'Life is very short and you never know when you're going to get that opportunity again so it would seem par for the course and I hope it happens
'The Duchess of Sussex has had a troubled relationship with her father since he missed the royal wedding last May, after being caught staging fake paparazzi photos near his home in Rosarito, Mexico
The retired lighting director then suffered a series of heart attacks and was forced to pull out of the nuptials – leaving Prince Charles to walk Meghan down the aisle
He has gone on to give a series of interviews in which he revealed some of Prince Harry's political views and claimed his daughter had frozen him out
Most recently, he responded to a story in a celebrity magazine that said Meghan feels 'victimized' by his press activities by releasing a personal letter that chastised him for speaking to the media and criticized him for not reining in Samantha
Samantha is currently working on a two-part book about her sister called 'In the Shadows of the Duchess', with part one due in April close to when Meghan gives birth
DailyMail.com revealed earlier this month that the discovery of Samantha's literary ambitions in April 2017 left Meghan in tears and resolving never to read interviews with members of her family
Samantha has now told DailyMailTV that she isn't demanding a relationship with Meghan, whom she has not seen since 2008, but does think she needs to remember who her family are and not try to replace them with 'a parade of celebrities'
She said: 'She's a woman, she's got her own thing going on and we wish her well but family is family and you don't replace your whole family with a parade of celebrities
'She can't replace me with George Clooney or Serena Williams – I'm her sister. I hope we might get to bridge that gap and if not, she might regret it
'All I can say is I cry. With a baby coming, it might be time to look at things and try it again
'The 54-year-old also told DailyMailTV that she doesn't mind being left out of the baby shower and is past being upset about the wedding but does hope to have a future relationship with Baby Sussex
Samantha also insisted that it is Meghan who is to blame for the estrangement, not the family, and said if their grandmother Doris, who died in 2011, was still alive, she would tell the Duchess to 'snap out of it'
She said: 'Family is family. The wedding is long past and we'll never be able to recoup those moments and those memories
'But life is short and I think our grandmother who we both adored who gave us our family values would say, 'Meg, snap out of it
This is your family, this is your sister'.'I'm always open to that, and although I have criticism that I've made public and feelings I'm not going to candy-coat, the bottom line is it's not the family, it's Meg
'She needs to do a turnaround and make things better with family and you can try replacing your family with celebrities all you want but at the end of the day, when you look in the mirror, it's not going to cut it
'Meghan, who is around seven months pregnant, will return to London tomorrow ahead of an official trip to Morocco over the weekend
The itinerary, which kicks off in Casablanca, will involve a visit to a girls' school in the remote Atlas Mountains and a trip to a market in the Andalusian Gardens in Rabat
She is due to give birth in late April, with Samantha telling DailyMailTV that she hopes she will teach the new baby to appreciate family and to be grateful
She also called for another family truce, saying she does not want the new child to one day google his or her relations and read about mudslinging and public fights
She said: 'I think everybody needs to stop mudslinging. There's a baby coming into the world who's going to soon be in elementary school googling all this stuff and going, 'Oh my god
What is up with my family just fighting all the time?''What kind of message does that send to a kid about conflict resolution? So I would say to Meg, do the right thing because your baby is going to be looking to you as a role model on how to deal with conflict resolution – we're a family, we make things work
'This is what we pay forward. On that note, let's all do the right thing, have a great year and pay everything forward

McCabe was fired last year by then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who cited his 'lack of candor' during an internal investigation into media leaks about the FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton's emails
'I don't believe you're a reliable narrator and I'm not convinced this isn't just some kind of PR campaign to stop yourself from getting indicted,' McCain said to McCabe
'You were fired at the recommendation of the FBI, which, in your book, you cite four times how great of an organization it is, for your lack of candor
''I would like you to say right here on national TV that you were not a source for The New York Times
You were never a source for The New York Times, or any other publication, considering that is what you were accused of lying about,' McCain said as a stunned McCabe looked on
'Absolutely not, not at any time, ever,' McCabe replied. 'When I was serving as deputy director, I was one of two people in the FBI that had the authority to disclose information to the media,' the disgraced FBI bureaucrat continued
'That is an FBI policy, it's baked into the way that we run media relations in the organization
So I transacted on issues regarding the media every single day,' he said. McCain then pressed McCabe on why fired FBI Director James Comey had testified under oath that he had not authorized his deputy's communications with the press on the instance in question
'I don't know why Jim Comey doesn't remember the conversations that we had in the same way that I do,' McCabe answered
'It is understandable. He was under an enormous amount of stress at the time. He had a lot of other, kind of, more important things to worry about

The lavish event was hosted by Hollywood A-lister Amal Clooney and tennis star Serena Williams, in a £57,600-a-night penthouse
Meghan's trip is worth almost half a million dollars, on top of her return private flight in the luxurious Gulfstream G450 twin jet plane - which cost a total of astonishing £191,830 ($US250,000)
The G450 jet can seat up to 16 people and boasts a shower, a three-person divan and a convection oven to prepare in-flight meals
The plane even includes recliner seats which transform into beds for guests to rest on board the flight
The jet a popular choice among the Hollywood elite due to its luxurious features and advanced flying technology
The G450 a 14-inch liquid crystal display screens and an Enhanced Vision System so pilots have a clear view of runway markings and their surroundings - even icy and wintry weather conditions
Last night, Kensington Palace confirmed the Duchess' travel has been "privately funded" but declined to further comment about further costs such as security
Meghan's baby shower was also a lavish affair, with a star-studded guest list and array of expensive gifts brought into the hotel where the event was held
Guests were gifted with £172 (US$225) Away carry-on suitcases, with a trolly full of the bags being wheeled into the Mark Hotel
Hosts Amal Clooney and Serena Williams are thought to have splashed £64,010 (US$83,665) on the event

The party, believed to have been organised by Mrs Mulroney, saw the attendance of 15 of Meghan's closest friends - but none of her relatives or royals

It was organised in the hotel owning the most expensive suit in the US, where rooms can cost up to £57,400 ($75,000) a night, and featured harpist Erin Hill and expensive party favours
Following the bash, which started approximately at 6pm GMT, Meghan was seen leaving the hotel wearing fitness gear and trainers and hop on a Gulfstream G450 private jet
A source who spoke to Harper's Bazaar had previously confirmed Meghan would embark on a relaxing solo trip, where she would meet her friends and respect the American tradition of the baby shower
They said: "The trip is a lovely chance to catch up with friends and spend time in a city she loves
"This will be the last time a lot of them will see Meg until after the baby is born so it's nice to share precious moments
" The New York break took the public by surprise, but the source revealed it had been carefully planned for months
They added: "It's been a relaxing visit. Nothing beats face time with your friends
"Meg will be flying home refreshed and relaxed - and with a lot of new baby clothes
" The trip to New York comes when Meghan is believed to be approximately 30 weeks into her pregnancy
Most airlines allow pregnant women to get on their plane until the 37th week, and the NHS advices not to fly after the 38th week
