Can you tell me how to find the area of this
regular polygon?
Let me give you a hint by drawing these dotted
lines. Did it click? The area of this polygon
can be looked at as the sum of the areas of
these triangles. The area of this regular
polygon will be the sum of the areas of these
8 triangles.
Similarly, we can find the areas of most of
the regions bounded by straight lines. We
simply have to decompose the areas into triangles
and rectangles and our job is done. But what
about the areas of regions bounded by curved
lines. We can't fit the triangles and rectangles
there right?
As we mentioned previously, this is where
Calculus comes into picture. In this video,
we will see a general process called Integration
to calculate the area of any region, not matter
what its shape is. The beauty here is that
this process is also based on the idea of
limits, something that we're now confident
about. In ancient times, people knew how to deal
with regions bounded by straight lines. But
finding the area of even a simple curved shape
like a circle posed a problem. In one of our
previous videos, we saw that the Greek mathematicians
had found some headway on it. Do you remember
the idea that was used here?
If the circle is placed between two squares
like this, we get a rough estimate of the
area of the circle. It'll be between the
areas of the two squares.
And as we consider regular polygons with even
greater number of sides, our approximations
will get better. Eventually, the area of the
polygons will approach the area of the circle.
This method of approximation is called the
method of EXHAUSTION. Let's look at another
major achievement of the Greeks in finding
such areas.
Look at this curve. You may have seen or learned
about this type of curve. Do you know what
it is called? It is called a PARABOLA.
Let's say we have a horizontal straight
line like this and this point below it.
Now if we consider points such that their distance
from this line and this point is the same,
we get a parabola. So the distance of all
the points from the parabola to this straight
line will be the same as their respective
distance from this point.
Remember seeing a similar curve in our previous
videos? The stone thrown by Nora into the
sea follows a parabolic path. Actually, whenever
we throw something up, the object always comes
down following a parabolic path. Unless it's
straight up and down!
A Greek mathematician named Archimedes was
successful in finding the area of the region
between a parabola and a chord like this.
He did it by the method of exhaustion. In
the case of circles, we had seen that to exhaust
the area of the circle, regular polygons were
used. But notice that the regular polygons
will not work here. Can you think of other
shapes we can use here?
Archimedes realised that TRIANGLES would work
here. How? And why?
First he chose a point 'C' on the curve
such that the tangent line at this point is
parallel to the this chord. Now look at his
triangle. Let's say the area of this triangle
is 'alpha'. Then it turns out that the
area of this region is equal to 'four over
three' times the area of this triangle,
which is alpha. How?
If we look at these two regions, we can draw
two more triangles like this. And it turns
out by geometry that the sum of the areas
of these two triangles is one fourth of the
area of triangle 'A B C'. So now the area
of this region will be equal to 'alpha plus
one fourth of alpha plus the area of this
remaining region.
Did you understand the idea here? If we keep
drawing triangles further and further we will
eventually cover the whole region. We get
that the sum of the areas of the triangles
added in each next step is equal to one fourth
of the sum of the areas of triangles in the
previous step. So we get infinite terms like
this. And it turns out that their sum approaches
'four over three' times 'alpha'.
Note that I said APPROACHES here. As we saw
previously, we cannot add infinite terms manually.
As we keep adding the terms, we can only find
whether the sum approaches a number or not.
So we get the area bounded by this curved
line and this chord to be 'four over three'
times the area of this triangle. Note that
this is the point at which the tangent is
parallel to this chord.
This result proved by Archimedes is called
the quadrature of parabola.
But did you notice a problem here? To find
the area bounded by different kinds of curved
lines, each time we have to find out which
shapes will exhaust the given area.
If we have area bounded by curved lines like
this, how will we find the area then? We need
to develop a GENERAL method to find the area
of any region.
It turns out that the answer to our problems
is RECTANGLES. In the next part we will see
the general method used to find area of ANY region.
Let's consider this area. It is bounded
by this curve, these two lines parallel to
the Y axis, and the X axis.
We want to find the area under this curve.
But you may ask why! We will see in our upcoming
videos that most of our problems related to
finding areas and volumes can be reduced to
this problem.
For example, let's say we want to find the
volume and area of this solid, which is an
elongated sphere. Now let's cut this solid
like this and look at its cross section. If
we know how to find the area under this curve
and above the X axis, then our job is done.
We can see that rotating this area by three
hundred and sixty degrees will give us the
'volume of the solid'. So this area was
enough to find the volume of the solid.
Also, once we understand the method of integration,
we will see that it can be applied to find
the length of a curve. So if we know the length
of this curve, rotating it by three hundred
and sixty degrees will give us the surface
area of this solid. We will understand it
in detail in our upcoming videos. Now let's
get back to our problem of finding the area
under this curve.
We know that according to these co-ordinate
axes, a curve can be looked at as being made
up of the different points. Each point on
the curve is specified by its 'X' co-ordinate
and 'Y' co-ordinate.
Now tell me which points on this curve will
have the minimum and maximum value for their
'Y' co-ordinate?
These will be the two extreme points of the
curve 'A B'. Let's say the minimum 'Y'
value is 'alpha' and the maximum 'Y'
value is 'beta'.
Now by taking these two points, we draw two
rectangles like this. For better understanding
let's draw these rectangles in two separate
figures.
So we see that the area under this curve will
be GREATER than the area of this rectangle.
The area of this rectangle will be 'alpha'
time 'this length'. And this length is
'D minus C'. Hence the area of the rectangle
will be 'alpha times D minus C'. And it
can be seen that the area under this curve
will be LESS than the area of this rectangle;
which is 'beta times D minus C'.
Let's denote the area under this curve by
'A'. And we denote the area of this rectangle
as 'S one' with a dash below it. This
dash below, tells us that the area of this
rectangle is less than 'A'. Similarly
we denote the area of this rectangle also
with 'S one' but with a dash above it.
Now focus on the figure on the left. We divide
this interval into two equal parts and draw
two rectangles like this.
Now compared to the previous case, we get
a better estimate of the area. Let's denote
the SUM of the areas of these rectangles by
'S two dash'. We can see that it will
be greater than 'S one dash' but less
than 'A'. Similarly if we divide this
interval into more parts, let's say 'N
parts', then we will get an even better
estimate. These rectangles are drawn by taking
the minimum value of 'Y' in each part.
So we can see that as we divide this interval
even further, we will get closer and closer
to the area 'A'.
In a similar manner, in the figure on the
right, we divide the interval into 'N'
parts and draw these rectangles. Note that
these rectangles are drawn by taking the MAXIMUM
'Y' value not the minimum. So the sum
of the areas of these rectangles, 'S N dash'
will be less than 'S one dash' but greater
than 'A'.
Now as we keep dividing this interval further
and find the sum of areas of such rectangles,
we will get closer to the area 'A'. This
is the general approach to find the area.
It is called Integration.Integrating is
nothing but combining one thing with another
to form a whole!
Using this method we can find area under any curve.
What we did here is that we first divided
this interval into small parts. Then by taking
the minimum and maximum 'Y' value in each
part, we calculated the two approximate areas.
The first one will always be less than the
area under this curve and is hence called
the lower sum. And the second one will always
be greater than the area under this curve
and is hence called the upper sum. Now as
we divide this interval into smaller and smaller
parts, we see that the lower sum and upper
sum approach a number, which is the area under
this curve. This is the basic idea of integration.
We will learn about it in detail in our upcoming
videos.
So until now we have an idea of the limit
process. We saw how we can apply it to find
the instantaneous rate of change of any quantity.
The process of finding this rate is called
differentiation. In this video, we saw how
it is applied to find the area under a curve.
And this process is called Integration.
In the next video, we will look at one of
the most important ideas of mathematics called
functions. We can understand the true essence
of all these ideas once we understand concept
of functions. We will also see in our upcoming
videos, that in a way, differentiation and
integration are OPPOSITE processes. To stay

What If SCP-1981 Was Real? - Duration: 8:12.
In this era of information, in this mass sprawl and endless digital stream of algorithmic
data - truth has become a very rare and important commodity.
When we are confronted with an overabundance of fact - that fact either needs to be founded
or unfounded - consistent, never changing.
But what if there existed an object - that didn't exist in either of those realms.
What if, every time you observed its record - a new stream of information was presented,
a new dialogue - a new allusion to something a little bit more sinister than the last?
And what if that record was something historically renowned - a momentous political speech in
a fearful bygone era that was recorded and witnessed by hundreds of millions of people.
Well - it certainly sounds confusing, but one thing remains the same - it's terrifying.
And well - more importantly, what the hell has it got to do with US President Ronald
Reagan?
All will be revealed shortly.
Hopefully.
Hello Internet and welcome back to the most inquisitive channel on YouTube - Life's
Biggest Questions - as per usual, I'll be your disembodied floating voice Jack Finch
- as today, we curiously ask the question - What If SCP-1981
Was Real?
Roll the clip.
Now, let's not beat about the bush - because there is a lot to this particular anomalous
object that may get watered down in translation - but when we really look at the bare bones
of SCP-1981 - its concept is incredibly unnerving.
In 1983, US President Ronald Reagan took to the podium at the National Association of
Evangelicals in Orlando, Florida - to address the nation on his hard-line stance against
the Soviet Union during the height of the Cold War.
He referred to the their continued geo-political escalation as the march of An Evil Empire
- and depicted nuclear warfare as a righteous extension of the age old struggle between
good and evil.
This speech was incredibly important, and served to reshape the public's reserved
stance toward nuclear warfare.
But - well, the SCP Foundation has a particularly differing set of circumstances surrounding
this event - to say the least.
As the record states, SCP-1981 is a standard Betamax tape - with the words, "RONALD REGAN
CUT UP WHILE TALKING" handwritten on an adhesive sticker in felt tip pen.
Laboratory analysis indicates that SCP-1981 is made of ordinary material, and serial numbers
seem to correspond with home cassette tapes produced in September of 1980.
It was initially encountered by a filing clerk in the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library
in 1991 - who upon watching it immediately alerted local police - with the intent to
find the tapes creator to press obscenity charges.
A low-level police investigation was conducted, at which point the Foundation was quickly
alerted and secured SCP-1981 into their possession.
But - it's just a video tape, right?
Of Ronald Reagan's Evil Empire Speech.
Right?
What's so scary about that?
Well - SCP-1981 appears to be a home video recording of former United States President
Ronald Reagan delivering his Evil Empire speech to the National Association of Evangelicals
at Sheraton Twin Towers, Orlando, Florida on the 8th of March 1983.
However, in this instance - at 1 minute 10 seconds in, the speech begins to deviate heavily
- eventually resembling no known speech ever made by Ronald Reagan.
Beginning at approximately 5 minutes, multiple incisions, lacerations and penetration wounds
can be seen being slowly inflicted - though no corresponding source of these wounds are
visible.
Despite suffering bodily harm that would likely incapacitate an ordinary person, Reagan will
continue to deliver his speech until either his vocal cords are severed or the tape degrades
to static at 22 minutes and 34 seconds.
Uh - yeah.
Erm - are you guys seeing this?
However - upon rewinding SCP-1981 and hitting playback, Reagan will deliver an entirely
new speech - often radically different from the ones previously observed.
Topics have included torture, human trafficking and ritual sacrifice.
On top of that though - the trauma inflicted upon Reagan also appears to be divergent - with
impalement - and - uh - well - some stuff that we can't really describe being observed.
And erm - it kind of also gets worse.
In roughly one in seven viewings of this tape - a figure clothed in black robes with a conical
hood will emerge as a random member of Reagan's press detail - referred to as SCP-1981-1.
The last known sighting of this figure was during a routine observation of the tape sometime
in 2005 - where the strange hooded figure stood at Reagan's podium for roughly 20
minutes before a single frame flashed with the words I SEE YOU colored in red.
That's a quick way to ruin anyone's day, right?
But what does it all mean?
Why is US President Ronald Reagan referring to future catastrophic events, such as 9/11
and an encroaching global cataclysmic event - way back in 1983?
What if this whole thing was real, and Reagan wasn't referring to the Soviet Union - but
a much more terrifying Evil Empire.
In one instance of SCP-1981's observation - Reagan states, QUOTE - For the first time
we have risen, and I see we are being consumed.
I see circles that are not circles.
Billions of dead souls inside containment.
Unravellers have eaten (this) country's moral fabric, turning hearts into filth.
I'm from a kingdom level above human.
What does that yield?
A hokey smile that damns an entire nation.
END QUOTE.
Phew.
That's some pretty heavy stuff.
But when we boil this concept down, philosophy often confronts the exact same idea.
If we accept that our reality is one of many conduits of an infinite universe, a mass sprawl
of multiverses - where in some cases, humanity is a fairly decent, honorable civilization
- that often tries to do the right thing - but very often also does the wrong thing.
We can also accept that there equally could exist a reality of complete and utter, pure
evil.
Where every choice and divergent path was based on hatred and pain and violence.
A truly evil empire.
In his 2014 book - Our Mathematical Universe, renowned cosmologist and physicist, Max Tegmark,
confronts a very similar phenomena.
His model isn't anchored in that of quantum mechanics and string theory - but instead
in modal realism - a doctrine proposed by philosopher David Lewis - that every possible
way that things COULD have gone - every consistent, total history of a universe - is just as real
as our own universe.
In this reality, you may safely make the train on your morning commute - but in another reality,
you missed it - and then you lost your job, and your spiraled into a very different lifestyle.
Imagine that - but times infinity.
If we accept this model - then, I'm sorry to break it to you - but SCP-1981 IS real.
If that was the case - then the occurrence of an anomalous video tape is the least of
our problems - because it would only serve to herald the emergence of a much more Evil
Empire for humanity to contend with.
Let's take some comfort in the fact that it's just fiction then, right?
Right?
Guys?
Well - on that note, I'm pretty terrified - so that's all we've got time for in
today's video.
Why don't you let us know your thoughts about SCP-1981 in the comment section down
below.
Before we depart though, let's read out some of your more entertaining comments from
our recent SCP-based-video.
First up - the … the erm …. The SCP Foundation says -- Stop letting civilians know this kind
of information.
--- Uh.
Oh, crap.
I'm in trouble again, aren't I?
Erm… next up, Gryphon says -- Is Jack Finch part of the O5 Council?
-- Hah … hah.
Yeah.
Right.
Guys, seriously - you need to stop.
And finally - Mark Taylor says -- If the SCP Foundation were real, how do you think someone
would go about seeking employment with them?
-- Well, Mark.
What a - what a ridiculous question.
The Foundation isn't real.
It's completely fictional.
I promise.
Really.
Well - on that note - I better head back down to the memetics lab.
Cheers for sticking around all the way until the end.
If you were a fan of this video, make sure to hit that thumbs up button - as well as
that subscribe bell - and I'll be seeing you in the next one.

What happens at a Mormon church on Sunday? - Duration: 4:01.
if you've never been to a worship service of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints the first thing you'll notice is that we lead you into a dark
room, strap you to a chair and we brainwash you with bright images of
green jello and the Book of Mormon.
False. That's totally false.
Hopefully nobody stopped before the intro and was like, "I knew it!" That's not
what happens in church. In most of the world, we have church services on Sundays
but that can vary depending on which country you're in. If you live in Jordan,
we worship on Fridays, if you're in Israel it will be Saturday, according to
local customs. Normally church services would last for three hours but a revised
schedule was implemented at the beginning of 2019 and now it's only two
hours. The first meeting is called sacrament meeting. It lasts for one of
those two hours. Everyone, men, women and kiddos all gather in the chapel area.
Everyone wears their Sunday best but we're not gonna throw you out if you
don't have a white shirt and tie. Anyway, we'll sing a hymn, have a prayer, and then
participate in the sacrament. During the sacrament, members each eat a small piece
of bread and drink a tiny cup of water symbolizing the flesh and blood of Jesus
Christ in remembrance of his atoning sacrifice. Visitors are free to
participate as well or not, whatever you're comfortable with.
We don't kneel during sacrament meeting nor do we recite pre-written prayers
except when priesthood holders bless the sacrament. We don't have a band playing
music, it's usually just a piano or an organ. It's all very mellow.
After the sacrament, the congregation listens to a few prepared messages.
There's no official pastor that teaches from the pulpit every week. Instead,
congregation leadership asks different members of the congregation to prepare a
message to share the following week or whenever.
So in sacrament meeting you'll hear a few brief spiritual messages from
average members. They might talk about faith in Jesus Christ, repentance
or the Holy Ghost or great aunt Kathy's rash. Who knows. The meeting closes with
another hymn and a prayer. You might even recognize some of the
hymns. They're not always exclusive to our church, you've probably seen some of
them in your congregation. For the second hour of church, we attend a rotation of
smaller, more specific classes. Children will always attend what we call primary.
For teenagers and adults, the class you attend depends
on the weak one week. Men and women will separate and attend different
classes. We call the adult woman's class Relief Society and the men's class
Elders Quorum. Teenagers also attend the class young women with the other young
women and the young men with the other young men
the following week they'll hold Sunday school during the second hour again
youth and adults have separate classes but Sunday school is not separated by
gender adults will most likely have a variety of Sunday School classes to
choose from if it's your first time attending you'll probably want to go to
the Sunday School class called gospel principles which teaches the basic
beliefs of our faith so you don't get lost in the other classes but if you
somehow end up being the only person in the class and you feel weird you can go
to whichever class you want if that schedule sounds complicated don't freak
out here's a super simple graphic the church released for the new two-hour
meeting scheduled and if you get lost don't hesitate to ask questions ask the
members there or if you can find a couple of missionaries in the
congregation they're gonna be a great resource for you so make sure to
introduce yourself that's a brief overview of what a latter-day Saint
Church service looks like but if you're really interested in what it looks like
go check it out for yourself if you're gonna be surprised by anything it'll be
by just how normal we are there if you're wondering where a latter-day
saint church building is or when meeting times are there's a link in the

'Survivor: Edge Of Extinction' Twist Explained: What Is It & How Will It Change The Game? - Breaking - Duration: 3:33.
Ahead of the season 38 premiere of 'Survivor,' we're breaking down the season's biggest twist, 'Edge of Extinction
' Here's what you need to know about the BIG change to the game! Survivor producers are constantly bringing new elements to the game, and season 38 may feature the biggest twist EVER! This season, Survivor: Edge of Extinction, will test players like never before, and Jeff Probst explained just how ahead of the Feb
20 premiere. The 'Edge of Extinction' twist won't come into play until someone is voted out of the game, and they'll be left with a major decision
"You don't know this, it's a secret, but when you're voted out, you're going to leave Tribal and walk around the corner and finally come to this lighted torch with a signpost," Jeff told Entertainment Weekly
"And the signpost will say, 'You have a decision to make. If you're done playing and you want your adventure to end, keep walking
If, however, you want a chance to get back in the game, take the torch and get in the boat
' That's all you know." The players will have NO idea what they're in for if they choose to stay in the game, and will have to decide on the spot if they want to "go into the unknown" for another shot at the game
"Where they're going is Edge of Extinction," Jeff said. "You will arrive at night in pitch black with a lighted torch to a beach
And the first person there will be the only person there — and that's it." Those who choose to go to the Edge of Extinction won't have ANY idea what's to come, but Jeff promised viewers that it will not be a cakewalk
"Everything that you do will require way more effort than you were doing back on that thing that you thought was tough called Survivor," he admitted
"And you're doing it all on the idea that you have a shot to get back in." Luckily, if it gets to be too much, players are allowed to throw in the towel — all they have to do is "raise a sail and a boat will come get [them]
" Survivor has used a similar twist called Redemption Island in seasons past, where players who were voted out got to compete in challenges against each other to earn a spot back in the game
However, this will be much more intense and difficult than that. "I just want to go deeper with Survivor," Jeff said
"I love the game play. I love the twists and idols. We've worked hard to create this element of gameplay
Now we want to see…why are people playing? Is it really just to find an idol and win a million dollars? Okay, then if you're voted out, you'll probably go home
But if there's something stirring inside you and you're posed with this question of 'Wait, I could maybe get back in?' then maybe you'll push yourself a little further and see what you're made of
" Jeff did not reveal how the players will get their opportunity to get back in the game, but it's safe to say that the cast will be pushed more than ever before this season
Survivor: Edge of Extinction features 14 new players and four returning ones. The returning contestants are Kelley Wentworth, Joe Anglim, Aubry Bracco and David Wright
The new season premieres Feb. 20 at 8:00 p.m. on CBS.

Drew Barrymore's Ex-Husbands: Who Was She Married To? | Heavy.com
Drew Barrymore has been one of the biggest names in the entertainment industry for decades, and now, she's appearing as a judge on CBS' The World's Best.
The actress has spent a lot of time in the limelight, and people have grown curious about her relationship history.
Who is Barrymore married to? Who has she been married to in the past? Here's what you need to know.
Barrymore has been married three times.
She was first married to Jeremy Thomas from 1994 to 1995.
Then, she was married to Tom Green from 2001 to 2002.

It's not always easy and the point is…nothing in life is.
But it doesn't mean that any bitter outweighs the sweet!".
Is she rumored to be with anyone these days? The actress has not been linked to anyone recently.
She was last seen hanging out with Justin Long in September 2018.
Daily Mail reported the news, writing that the paparazzi had stolen pictures of the former couple laughing and smiling together.
They went on to write, "Insiders say that the pair have always remained friends, but have been spending more and more time together since Justin split from his girlfriend, CHVRCHES artist Lauren Mayberry.".
Since then, they haven't been reported together, leading us to think that Barrymore is flying solo these days.
For now, the focus appears to be on her children.
In an interview with Good Housekeeping, the actress said that she's keeping her children out of the entertainment industry until they're 18.
She went on to joke, "I'd never let them become child actors… They'll have a chastity belt, a tracker system, no cell phones and we'll live in the middle of nowhere.
In reality, I'll just lead by example by being spirited, classy, consistent, philanthropic, hardworking, loyal to my friends and there any second they might need me.".
Be sure to watch Drew Barrymore as a judge on The World's Best airing on CBS Wednesdays at 9pm ET/PT.

'Survivor: Edge Of Extinction' Twist Explained: What Is It & How Will It Change The Game? - News To - Duration: 3:33.
20 at 8:00 p.m. on CBS.

What happens when a baby is born mid-flight - and if they get free flights - News Live - Duration: 3:00.
There are circa 10,000 scheduled flights each day, amounting to over 8 million air passengers taking to the skies on a daily basis
Yet despite these huge numbers, the number of babies born mid-flight is thought to be (thankfully) almost negligible
This is in part due to airline rules and restrictions , stipulating mums-to-be can't travel past the 36 week mark
But that doesn't mean it never happens. On a flight last week from Puerto Rico to Florida, a woman gave birth to a healthy baby boy
As well as tweeting a confirmation of the incident, the airline also told People : "We'd like to thank the crew and medical professionals on board for their quick action under pressure, and wish the new mother and son all the best
"Flight 1954 was operated on aircraft N523JB, coincidentally named, 'Born To Be Blue
'" It's hard to imagine how fraught and dramatic a situation like this is for all involved
But, logistically, what actually happens when a baby is born mid-flight? What does this mean for their nationality? What are airline staff expected and trained to do? And does the lucky little one get free flights for life? What is the nationality of a baby born mid-flight? This can actually be quite tricky to determine
However, The International Convention on the Reduction of Statelessness agreement means an infant will be assigned a nationality
What mostly happens is the baby in question "will be assigned the nationality of the airspace the airline is in at that moment" euclaim explains
"For example, babies born in US airspace will receive an American citizenship. If the country does not allow this, the baby will receive the parents' nationality or the nationality of the country where the airline is registered
" Are cabin crew trained to deliver babies? In short: No - as this is a scenario which so rarely crops up
What does happen is trainees are required to watch a video explaining childbirth, reveals flight attendant and author James Wysong to Yahoo
He also added that the attendant's main responsibility is to alert the Captain and "call for a medical professional to come forward"
Staff onboard the flight then decide whether an emergency landing is required
That's if the baby isn't making a rapid entrance! Do babies born mid-air get free flights for life? It seems this one is an urban legend
While there have been some instances where an airline has awarded their special new arrival free flights, it's by no means a common occurence

mac the man What was Mac Miller's cause of death, when did he date Ariana Grande and what are the ra - Duration: 5:46.
MAC Miller found fame as a rapper whose emotional lyrics managed to relate to a lot of people around the world
The Self Care star was found dead in his LA home in September 2018 - here's what we know
Who was Mac Miller? Malcolm James McCormick was born January 19, 1992, but was known by his stage name, Mac Miller
He also went under several other aliases, including Larry Fisherman, Delusional Thomas, Larry Lovestein and The Velvet Revival
The rapper rose to fame when he collaborated with pop star Ariana Grande on The Way and My Favourite Part
The pair started dating back in 2016, but split in May 2018. The US celebrity news site TMZ reported that Mac had been having trouble with substance abuse after his break from Ariana Grande
In May he was arrested for driving over the limit and being involved in a hit and run when he trashed his car, crashing into a utility pole
He fled the scene but confessed to cops at home later. What was Mac Miller's cause of death? On September 7, 2018, the rapper was found dead at around noon at his home in San Fernando Valley after a suspected overdose
However, on September 11 TMZ reported that suspicions were raised after police only found a "tiny amount of white powder" and no evidence of drug use
No one has yet admitted to making the 911 call but one of the rapper's friends is reported to have pleaded with paramedics for help saying that Mac was in cardiac arrest
His ex Ariana Grande was forced to disable comments on her Instagram account, as people have unfairly commented she was at "fault" over his death
On September 13 it was revealed that the rapper had been dead for hours before his body was attended by paramedics
When did Mac Miller date Ariana Grande? Mac Miller and Ariana Grande split in May 2018, after nearly two years of dating
The couple, who went public with their romance in August 2016 , decided to go their separate ways but will remain "the closest of friends", sources told TMZ
Insiders explained the pair decided to split after their work schedules became too busy, but they still "love each other dearly" and are determined to stay best friends
Ariana first met Mac when they recorded The Way together in 2013, and the pop star admitted last year she had had feelings for him for a long time before they got together romantically
She said: "We have loved and adored and respected each other since the beginning, since before we even met, just because we were fans of each other's talent
" And the two stars have worked together since then, including on Mac's track My Favorite Part, while they shared the stage together to perform The Way and Dang! at the One Love Manchester concert, which Ariana staged last July in the wake of the terrorist attack at her concert in May 2017
What are some of Mac Miller's biggest hits? To date, Mac has released four albums - with his debut, Blue Slide Park, hitting the top of the US album charts becoming the first independently distributed debut album to top the chart since Tha Dogg Pound's 1995 album, Dogg Food
While many of his singles have not charted terribly high, his albums have all reached number 4 or higher on the US Billboard 200 Chart
Two of his highest profile music collaborations were with Ariana Grande - with 2013's The Way (from her debut album, Yours Truly) and 2016's My Favourite Part (from his 2016 US Number 2 album The Divine Feminine)
Was Mac Miller a Donald Trump supporter? In 2011, Mac released a single titled Donald Trump - which was described by Rolling Stone as an "irresistible bro-down"
While the track sees Mac rap about wanting to be rich and successful like The Donald, he hit out at the current US president and did not endorse him
During the 2016 presidential election campaign, Mac's track garnered fresh attention - but the rap star branded Donald "an egomaniacal, attention-thirsty, psychopathic, power-hungry, delusional waste of skin and bones" during an appearance on The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore
