Auto news on Youtube Dec 5 2018

hey guys it's Cassie welcome to my channel if you're new welcome back to my

channel if your seasoned member of the 2102 crew guys this is a bit of a random

video I randomly decided to sit down and I was like let's talk about why I buy

luxury why I buy luxury items why do I care about it all why am I in this

blue coat well firstly winter is truly here in England and I thought why not

you know I just want to feel like she did it have I been walking around my

home in this for the last hour maybe guys if you are new at I'm Cassie

and I'm a self diagnosed addict of the luxury things I put out videos on Wednesdays

and Fridays and if you like luxury fashion then you're probably going to

like those too so head down there take the subscribe button turn on the

notification bell become a member of the 2102 crew okay shall we begin

let's start first reason it's basically is that it has always sort of been

around me my mum is somebody who was always valued luxury fashion she has

always loved designers who I always valued it I always found the

appreciation for things like that I would read vogue super young and like

read all those magazines and circle the stuff that I wanted to wear when I was

older like oh I just want a Balmain dress and when I'm older I'm gonna wear

a Balmain dress and I'm gonna look incredible and I'm gonna look fire and

I'm gonna feel amazing and blah blah second reason is that I've never like as

part of that my mum always would tell me growing up it's better to save and have

one really nice thing than 10 like cheap things that you're just gonna throw away

so I always have bought into luxury fashion on the basis of I'm gonna wear

this for 10 years right I have a Burberry trench dress and dress that I

have had since I was 16 right I'm 25 I've had this dress since I was 16 and

this dress comes out unfailingly every single summer and I flex to death in

that dress people yeah I buy it because I'm gonna wear it over and over and over

again especially things like shoes and bags where your size isn't gonna change

that's another reason is that I don't throw stuff

I try and buy smart and I try and buy things that I know I'm not gonna be over

in a few months I'm actually really not that person even if something is very

trendy like these shoes like somebody might be like okay after a season that

I'm gonna sell them cuz I'm not gonna wear them again I will wear these over

and over and over again I don't care if it's in fashion or not I will still flex

I will still wear it so that's why I buy things with the intention of using them

for ages the other thing the again comes in point 1 is that i know that these things

are valuable okay again i'm not somebody that will buy something because of its

resale value because i'm not somebody that buys things to sell and i buy

things to keep I buy things with the intention of passing things down once I

have a family eventually in a long time knowing that if I have a daughter or son

or whatever because you know our unisex stuff too then they can wear that or

whatever I mean like I'm sorry but not only can my daughter flex in this coat

but my son also can wear this and look incredible and I mean it's P Diddy she-diddy

whatever my last point is right this is the bit that I might get backlash for or

whatever but I really don't care just being super honest is that on the most

basic stupid level it makes me feel nice I'm not gonna lie to you as a basic ass

I love it I really do I buy into all of the hype I buy into the pomp of it I buy

into the packaging I buy into the sodding bow that they put on top and

then when I get home and I open it and I'm like oh I'm having my moment you

know it sounds so stupid but yeah I do feel I do feel it makes me feel good and

at the end of the day if I'm gonna buy something that is 10 pounds or a hundred

or whatever a thousand pounds right as long as it makes me feel good well this

shouldn't that just be all that matters also i 100% know that at the end of the

day none of this matters I know that there are way more important things to

care about but I like this stuff I really do like this video if you liked

it leave me a comment down below if you also buy luxury fashion let me know why

you buy it if you don't let me know why you don't buy it at all guys have an

amazing morning afternoon or evening wherever you are and I will see you in

my next video bye guys

Shades of Elegance – Fashion and Fabrics in Teheran Around 1900 / Museum Rietberg - Duration: 11:32.

Well,

this exhibition came about because we received a gift that was in

family ownership since over 100 years and because of another exhibition

about textiles in our museum, they thought it would be a great idea

to donate it to the museum. We've had a look at it and soon

realized, that this will be an interesting topic, because it would be possible to

show the exchange between East and West in the second half of the

19th century, as Europe saw it back then –

and that's because of Emil Alpiger, who was working for a carpet company back then

and collected the items – and how that was received in Persia, and how

Persia responded to this European influence.

That's basically the main point. It's also about showing what hybridization

means. What we present here is a kind of style mix, something that's

usually something that art history is not very popular to look at, because it's not

something that you would normally expect, but here we have wonderful examples for

exactly this exchange between East and West.

Yes, Alpiger was an interesting character. He worked for Ziegler & Company

for 20 years, in Persia, he set up the whole carpet manufactory

there, but that's only his quiet civic life. Before that he was very

adventurous. Ten years of his life –

we had to reconstruct this, because we don't have all his records – he obviously

worked for the Bergamask silk industry, he also smuggled for them,

for example he tried to bring silkworm eggs

from Iran to Europe. That was necessary, because there was a huge epidemic that

threatened and destroyed the silk cultures in Europe. And the only

way to solve this problem was to

bring silkworm eggs, from Persia in the beginning, which he did,

and then from Japan, because one had to go more and more to the East since

the epidemic spread. And in Japan, Alpiger even caused the first

world trade conflict. Japan had just opened up itself, there were

the first contacts with Europe, and

Alpiger probably lost his patience while negotiating with a Japanese

businessman whom he threatened. This incident led to a trial that the

then Consul, the Swiss Consul, led, and he punished Alpiger.

That was considered very important internationally at that time, because

it meant, great, here not only Europeans are always proved right, but in this

case the Japanese, who were usually seen as the victims or those who

one can exploit. This trial put them

on the same level and that had a huge effect on the Swiss in Japan itself

but It was also recognized internationally very benevolently. And Alpiger then

did other things, he lived in Paris for a while, tried to start his

own business, which failed, he started a first family, but shortly after

the birth of his first son, his wife

and his son died. He then started a second family und with his second

family he emigrated to Persia. The family

was in Persia obviously, but also lived some time here in Zürich

and finally moved to Zürich in 1896.

Yes, there has even been globalization before, I think there has been a tendency,

even since ancient times, to seek for worldwide relations. It was simply

an exciting time, in the 19th century. First of all because there was the

industrialization in Europe itself, that means there were problems

in the factories, in the production, there was a rush to money, making

money was the big thing, and there

was this industrial capitalism, and there was of course this worldwide politics,

let's think of England or the other colonial powers, where one tried to

bring in goods. Everything got easier,

that means distances suddenly became more conquerable, this can be seen

very clearly from Alpiger's notes, where he for example was enthusiastic

that he could ride on the first trains. Suddenly he was able to travel all around

the world within a few weeks, today that seems a long time, but back then

it wasn't months anymore, but weeks, and that of course was the big change.

Equally there was this perspective

to trade with others, preferably

for your own benefit, so everything that we still weep over today, was there

in its early days back then, and when we compare the today with those days, we

realize that it was still in its infancy and human, compared to what we are seeing

in part today.

Yes, we have a beautiful example where you see a man's tunic that has a cuff,

in former times, or in Persia, you

had the outer fabrics, and on the inside was always lined with a border, which

was very beautiful and in most cases in a different pattern. And we have

a beautiful example here, where you can see: there's the cuff, made of

one of the highest quality wool fabric that were produced in Persia itself,

which was already quite old back then, because they were economizing on resources,

and this fabric pattern was then copied in Manchester probably,

as industrially produced printing fabric.

And we have here another man's tunic, which was produced from exactly this classy,

wonderful – in this case surrogate – fabric.

And here you see perfectly that there was a transformation that could be

realized industrially, but which then nevertheless was accepted and used

in Persia. This is one of the great examples, and then there are the

Ziegler-carpets, where you can see that a Persian carpet that has a

very complex, very sophisticated pattern

was simplified, certain parts were taken out, cleaned so to say, and

in this simplified form it was then popular in Europe to lay out such

carpets in the salon.

One might have to say that the Persian society has a great talent to

adopt things very quickly and make it their own. In this case we

interestingly have a letter from Mrs Alpiger, who in the beginning

accompanied her husband, 1874/1875 in Iran, we assume, there we also find notes

from him, where he describes how he had to rides through the wastelands,

with the horse, 8 to 9 hours in the saddle,

mostly during the night, because it wasn't that hot anymore.

20 years later, she writes - it's her last visit to Iran – about how great

the journey was, they were traveling in a hackney cab, there was also already

a train leaving from Teheran, there was telegraphy. So within 20 years

a total change has taken place in Persian society, supported by

the Shah himself, of course, but what's interesting then is that this change

continues, there's a huge modernization boost in the 1920s, the 50s and 60s are

fantastic, there are things

that would be the Dernier Cri

in Europe as well, and so this society transforms itself very fast.

So if you are looking for the latest fashion from Milan, go to a party in

Teheran, you will most definitely find it there.

We were working on the exhibition pretty much exactly a year.

I have to add that I know textiles already, so in this case I didn't

have to start at the very beginning. But what we naturally tried to find out

is how did Alpiger live at all. On the one hand it wasn't that hard

to find out, because of his handwritten notes that I have

transcribed. It was more difficult

to retrace his different stages of life. It was only by chance that we found out

that he once lived in Paris, and my husband searched for his name in

the internet archives of the city of Paris, and that's how we figured out

that he had survived, that he had lived in Paris, that he

had a wife, a first wife and a son,

so with all these steps one thing lead to another. Another thing was

also to call the Swiss civil registry and ask for related data, and this is

really impressive, I have to say, that was really easy, you just

get an excerpt of it, saying that's the

data we have, and that of course

has helped us a lot in our research.

How to make a Kimono Jacket - Mena | Teach Me Fashion - Duration: 8:42.

Hi Guys, Its George from Teach Me Fashion. In today's tutorial. I'm going to be showing you how to make my

'Mena' Pattern, which is a great pattern for all occasions and seasons depending on what fabric you

Choose to use

In today's tutorial, I'm going to be using a brocard fabric which is more of a heavier weight fabric

but you can choose any weighted fabric depending on the occasion you are going to and

if you want all the pattern details check out the below description and

don't forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel to be the first to find out when I upload another tutorial and

That is it. So let's get sewing

First off

Assemble your pdf pattern

Get your fabric ready by giving it a wash in your washing machine and an iron. If your fabric is wool you just need

to steam it and this will help with any shrinkage in your fabric

Before you cut out your pattern pieces, make sure to read the instructions before cutting it out now

It's time to prepare your binding. Fold the binding in half and iron.

Now it's time to start sewing

Pin your binding to all shoulder edges and side seams for both your back and front pattern pieces

Before you start sewing

make sure you check your machine tension, that your thread color and

thread is correct, that your sewing needle is sharp. And you are using a zipper foot.

Placing your fabric underneath your zipper foot

make sure to sew right up close to the edge of your binding

If you like you can use contrast thread for your top stitching.

For the next step pin your back and front pieces together

making sure that the fabric is right sides together pin in place making sure you line up your

Shoulder and side seams and then you pin.

Sew your seams together using a seam allowance of 1.5 centimeters or 5/8 of an inch

Make sure to back tack at the start and at the end and also remove the pins as you sew

Now it's time to assemble your cuffs. Fold them in half lengthways and iron them.

Then fold them in the other direction and pin together. Make sure that the right sides are together.

Sew a seam allowance of 1.5 centimeters or five-eighths of an inch

Make sure to back tack at the start and at the end making sure that your stitching line is secure

Now it's time for you to iron open all your seam allowances on every single pattern piece

Attach your cuff to your sleeve by placing the cuff inside your sleeve with right ways of fabric together

Line up your seams and pin them in place

Sew your sleeve and cuff together using a 1.5 centimeter or a 5/8 of an inch seam allowance

Remove the pins as you go

Check to see if your seams are aligned

Now it's time to attach your binding to cover the raw edge of your seam allowance of your cuff and your sleeve

Using your zipper foot once again

Make sure to get right up close to the edge of your binding making sure to catch the binding on the other side as well

Take your time

Cut all loose threads put your jacket inside out ready for you to iron

Iron your cuffs pushing the seam allowance inwards towards the body of the jacket

You're nearly finished the next step is to bind the collar and then your hemline

You then have the option to turn back your hem and hand sew it up or leave down showing the binding

Thanks for watching. I hope you found the tutorial easy to follow

55 Fashion HACKS In LESS Than 5 Minutes! | RMRS Men's Style Videos - Duration: 6:25.

55 tips in 5 minutes [0:00:00]

Antonio: All right, gentlemen.

In today's video, fifty five style tips in five minutes.

Are you ready?

Let's do it.

[Music] Don't be afraid to spend good money on a foundation piece that's going to get

you compliments every time you wear it.

Don't be afraid to ask people if they got clothing they don't want because they don't

wear it.

This jacket, yes, was given to me.

Have a uniform.

This is going to be clothing that sends the message you want to send that you can default

to on a daily basis.

When you start to invest in your interchangeable wardrobe and spend good money on shoes, you're

going to have to make a tough decision to go brown or go black.

Look at the shoes that you have a preference for and make your choice.

Gym shoes are for the gym.

Go to a jewelry store that sells luxury watches and I want you to go in and try these watches

on and make a decision for yourself whether or not this is something you would want to

invest in.

When you're traveling, you're going to have a layover.

Try to stop in an airport with luxury shop.

Some of these over in Zurich, over in Munich have amazing stores that you can go in and

look at these luxury goods.

If you own over a hundred watches, you are obsessed with watches and there's no problem

with that.

Drink more water.

You're going to look better, feel better, and you're less likely to have bad breath.

Don't let a woman plan your outfits, a man should dress himself.

Casual does not equal sloppy.

Resist the urge to correct somebody's style especially in public.

You really want to step up your look and get some compliments?

Try wearing a boutonniere.

When you're getting ready in the morning, dress in a manner that you assume you're

going to run into somebody important today.

Heavyweight and knitted sweaters will keep you warm, but they're casual and not the

best for layering.

Lightweight sweaters that fit close to the body have a V-neck are great for layering.

Leverage the color gray.

It's an interchangeable color that's going to go with a wide variety of different items

in your wardrobe.

Don't be afraid to bring in colors especially when it comes to sweaters.

When it comes to sweaters, cotton is going to be the least expensive and the easiest

to take care of because you can throw in the wash.

Wool is going to be more expensive harder to take care, but it's going to do a better

job of keeping you warm.

Don't be afraid to buy specialty products for your body especially your skin.

So, let's say you save, you deal with irritation, well, make sure you get an aftershave that

has a bit of antiseptic in it, so you don't deal with the irritation and you definitely

do not get an infection.

Let's say, okay, you've got rash on your face, you just get red spots after popping

out of the pool, then get something specifically for your face.

But, if you've got an issue with your hands, then get a moisturizer for it.

You've got cracked hands, you want to deal with that, you want something that's going

to last a bit longer.

Now, if you've got cracked lips, you want to use something natural like bees wax, but

don't be afraid to carry around a few little cases of lip balm that's going to help you

out.

When you're getting dressed in the morning, you want to put on sun block.

Currently using a disposable?

Try upgrading to a safety razor.

Already mastered the safety razor?

Well, try a cut-throat razor and have some fun.

Using a shaving cream that comes out of a can?

Notice it has propane in it.

Throw this out.

So, what to use?

Try shaving soap and make your own lather.

Too lazy for that?

Then, get something that comes out of a tube with no propellant.

If you don't own a nose and hair trimmer, you need to get one and use it.

And don't be afraid to spend a little bit of money on a good grooming kit.

Have a time every week that you actually use your grooming kit.

Upgrade to an electric toothbrush.

Honestly, there's no comparison.

This is so much better for taking care of your teeth.

Own more than one hairbrush, nothing wrong with having a paddle brush and a styling brush.

Own more than one comb.

It can make a big difference when you're parting style in your hair.

Experiment with hair products.

Not only try pomades or putties or waxes, but also try from different brands.

Learn how to apply fragrance.

Spraying and then walking into a cloud.

Guys, that's not how it's done.

Every man should carry a nice pen.

Tactical pens are stylish and useful.

Never wear a backpack with a suit.

It's going to damage the shoulders.

In general, backpacks are for kids.

A man should invest in nice professional briefcase.

If you want to keep your backpack, go for it, but upgrade it to something more professional.

So, when I travel I have a lot of electronic devices and I have a lot of cords that I could

take.

I go for the shorter ones.

I make sure that they both transfer information and they charge device, so I'm testing them

before, but I leave a lot of these at home.

Where do I put all these so it doesn't get lost?

Boom!

Those extra cases you never use, this is where you recycle them.

So, for your glasses that you never use or maybe just a simple white pouch that you don't

even know where this came from, but it's in your room, use this to keep your cords

in check when you travel.

So, when I travel, I take expensive cameras and I have specialty cases for them, but I

don't use these when I'm traveling.

Instead, I use extra underwear, I use an extra shirt.

So, in the case, they would have lose my luggage, I've got the extra underwear I've got

the extra shirt and this does a good job actually of protecting my cameras.

So, when I travel I've always got food with me.

I try to take items which can last a long time which can get smashed.

If you're traveling with kids and you don't have food when they're hungry, you are in

for a world of pain.

Tissues, wet wipes, and old school handkerchief in your back pocket.

It doesn't matter when you sneeze, when there's a mess to clean up, you are going

to thank me that you got one of these handy.

So, when I travel, I always take a small book with me, something I can read anywhere.

And what I love about this, I don't need Wi-Fi.

I always have a headset because sometimes there is someone next to you that will not

shut up, so always use the headset as a universal signal of leave me alone.

ACC Students Keep Austin's Fashion Industry Booming - Duration: 1:18.

fashion is in my family heritage. my grandmother and aunts were the ones that

initially taught me how to hand sew with just, hems, was the first thing that I

actually started out with as a child. As my grandmother's vision started to

deteriorate then she started teaching me how to actually do a single stitch on

her O1910 singers but I wanted the technical portion of it, and so being

that it's been embedded in my family I needed to come to ACC and seek the

actual technical component of it. The fashion incubator program is one of the

best ways to get into the fashion industry right now so we are such a

melting pot of different ethnicities, people from different

backgrounds, Austin has grown in the last 20 years

and people from all over the place have come here and I've seen a fusion of

fashion from illustration stage to development stages to the marketing

stages to production stages. That is the most exciting part for me, it's the

entire process. The Fashion Incubator program that's currently started out now is

really the stepping stones really the open door to entering into the fashion world.
