When I was diagnosed with cancer I was just three years old.
It was vaginal cancer.
Because the cancer had damaged so much of that area
it forced me to have an ostomy so I have to wear ostomy bags.
It's a surgical opening in your body for the discharge of waste.

And that has been since the age of three.
It was especially hard going into middle school.

So of course, the whole bus smelled.
I ran home.
And I'm like, 'Oh my gosh. Is this how my life is going to be?' I ran home.

I was scared to make friends. I was scared like is that accident going to happen when I'm around my friends?

Growing up you have dreams, aspirations and things you want to do.
But I thought I was limited to what I could do.
I'm thinking, 'Modeling and having ostomy bags...'
This is what I'm thinking to myself and he's talking to me.
I'm like, 'Oh my gosh. There's no way I can do this.'
But I decided to step out on faith, step outside my box. I'm like, 'Oh my gosh. There's no way I can do this.'

So I explained what was going on.
I explained that I was a cancer survivor. So I explained what was going on.

So that turned out to be the important thing...
my skills instead of my circumstances.
I was like, 'I want to do some pictures and I want to show my bags.'
You do editorials. You do different types of photo shoots.

And I look at it and...
I think about that three year old, that four year old child
that... just thought she wasn't going to make a difference.
She wasn't going to be able to do this or do that.
So I look at those pictures and I see how far I have come.
The reaction I've gotten has been tremendous.
People are noticing. But I'm not doing it per say for the attention.
I'm doing it for the message - that our circumstances do not have to dictate our future.
