and it was Selby Drummond from Vogue.

And I was like, "Oh my god, what are you doing?"

And she's like, "We're going to the Tibi Show."

"Come with us."

it was literally the entire editorial staff from Vogue.

They moved space over and let me sit with them.

It was amazing.

(techno music)

This week, I'm in New York for the first time.

Back home before I decided to go to fashion school,

I thought about going to New York,

but it felt so far away, and like it was really unrealistic.

I feel like now is the time and the moment

and it's going to be magical.

I'm at the National Museum of American Indian

going to the Native Fashion Now exhibit.

(techno music)

The Native Fashion Now exhibit is 75 indigenous designers

coming together to showcase the diversity

of what contemporary native fashion is.

It's Jared Yazzie with OXDX.

What I love about Jared is that he's so

just loud about his message.

He doesn't have to be PC really.

- It's great that people can come in and see

that native people are still working

and still creating amazing things

'cause I think people look at native people

as kind of relics or as only seen in history books

type of thing, so it's great to see it out in the public.

- [Bethany] I love Patricia.

She put us definitely on the map in different type of ways.

She carried herself with such grace.

Like I was watching my aunty on TV.

For me as a young person, to see her doing that,

I'm like, "I can do that."

- The importance of this exhibit is showing

the diversity of Native American fashion.

For once, we have the largest group in exhibition

of Native American fashion representing as many as

the museums can hold and the curator could hold.

This is such a wonderful opportunity for us.

- So tell us a little bit about it.

- In Crow culture, we use elk teeth.

They're part of our women's traditional regalia

and to complete an entire elk tooth dress,

you need like 600 elk teeth.

It was a wedding dress.

The groom would make it for the bride

and it would show we're providers,

we're hunters, we're caretakers.

I still wanted something that said Crow,

but at the same time this says Bethany

where it's like a little sexy using some leather.

- It's beautiful, Bethany.

- I'm really excited to be a part

of this exhibit because it's a stepping stone

to where native people are going.

My only, I guess, kind of qualms about it,

are that we're always in museums.

We're always in institutions and we're always on display.

I have relatives who have their pieces in there.

These relics that are in there are not just relics

and we're a continuation of the people,

but we're always on display and I refuse

for that to be my peak.

Today, I'm heading to Brooklyn to meet

with Idris and Tony for head shots.

I'm not one to be in front of the camera very often

so this'll be interesting.

Hi, it's Bethany.

(sighs)

I was like practicing this morning.

Just kidding.

Idris and Tony are a photographer and creative duo.

They're incredible and they've worked

with the biggest names in fashion.

- [Tony] Have you enjoyed New York?

- It's treated me so good.

For coming here for the first time,

I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

- Wait, it's your first time in New York?

- It's my first time in New York.

- Okay, that's intense.

- I know.

- Originally, I was just planning to go to New York

the week of the Native Fashion Now exhibit

and then I had an email and it said,

"Anna Wintour and Vogue cordially invite"

"you to Diversity in Fashion."

And I was like, "Oh, my god, is this real?"

I got to meet Anna Wintour.

- How was that for you?

- She gave me the nod like she approved 'cause I kind

of like, I got pretty ballsy at the diversity panel.

- Well, she likes that.

I think she's very like, cause people don't approach her.

- Totally, and like so that diversity panel,

they're like, "We wanna have the hard conversations."

And so at the end, they were about to close it

and I kept raising my hand and nothing, so I stood up.

I was like, "Excuse me" and I was like, "Excuse me"

I said, "So, the designers in the room, as you're

being inspired by those Navajo things or those

plain Indian headdresses," I said,

"remember those have stories and those have"

"real authentic truths attached to them"

"and it also means that as the editors and writers"

"in this room" and I said, "so, Anna" and I said,

"Elaine" and then I looked at the editor of GQ and said,

"How are you gonna be accountable to native people?"

And they were just like, the room was just like.

I like called them out, but I mean that was a space

where they were really trying to have that conversation

and it felt like they wanted to hear it.

- There's a big conversation centered around

I think Asian-Americans these days as well.

We have a project called The Persuasion Project, which

is addressing negative stereotypes that we have

to fight against, particularly amongst Asian men.

In fashion, there seems to be these steps forward

and then, you know, a step backwards and

if you want people to be receptive of what is outside

of the box, so to speak, that you're checking

that we're all forced to check, we have to be welcoming

and open to having that dialogue and creating that.

- The whole idea of having to have diversity

and labeling it as diversity, I think is not ideal.

- Right.

- It should always be diverse.

Have everyone at a table so that there are different

ideas and different points of view.

- Totally.

I agree with that.

I like that.

I went to that Vogue panel and then

all these people are like, "Yeah, come to our show"

and it was like really easy.

And then I got to sit front row, like.

- It's all about who you know.

- Right.

I don't know what else to do.

I don't know if I'm Supposed to smile or not.

- [Idris] Well, keep them serious for now.

(techno music)

- [Bethany] I got to go to New York

and make a major, major statement.

Made me realize it's more than possible

to be in that space 'cause I'm already there.

- I was

- Okay, awesome.

- I'm Keisha.

- Keisha, nice to meet you.

Beautiful.

I dropped the mic, I'm telling you.

New York definitely inspired me.

The unity really is what inspired me to be at Vogue,

to be with Idris and Tony, to be amongst other

creative people who are really trying to inspire change.

Really, that's the essence of my next collection.

The rise, the bloom and seeing myself, seeing

other women I'm surrounded by, seeing other people

I'm surrounded by, really step into their power,

step into their light.

I feel really hopeful because we're banding together

and New York's been a great reminder of that.

janae and I post weekly videos here on this channel so I hope you stick around

so today's video is going to be a spring Try on haul because I've been shopping

for some things recently mostly because in May I'm going on a

trip so I've picked up some things for that and also I got some other things

that are like transitioning from like winter to spring like this sweater for

example so yeah mostly everything in this haul except for like one thing is

from forever 21 because basic but um yeah so the first thing is

actually the sweater I'm wearing which is just this light yellow sweater from

forever 21 and it was on sale for like five or seven dollars it was like really

cheap but I thought it was cute and it's like a thin sweater so you can wear it

like in the spring because you know spring isn't really hot but it's not cold

there's like one like maybe you still want long sleeves which you don't want

something that's super thick so I picked this up and I thought it was really cute

because I like this detailed like the cross see detailed it gives you some

some boobage and but it's not like too much and this is actually gonna be in a

lookbook video that I will be posting really soon so yeah actually a couple of

these things I'm gonna be in a lookbook video I'm gonna be posting really soon

so look out for that but yes this is the first thing and also I will be sure to

have everything down below if I can find it you know I can't find it

this item exactly or an item exactly I will post something similar to it and

I'll have all the links for the down below so if you wanna check any of this

out or buy it check the links in my description and you're good to go so

this is the first thing and I just thought it was really cute and it's like

stops right here so kind of a crop top but not really so I really like this I

just think it's really cute so I'm just gonna grab from my pile of

stuff down here so the next thing is this crop top extra light there are

three things that aren't from 521 so this is from veteran over and like I

said I'm trying all of this on this is cute and I love the material like a

super soft it's like a mock neck long-sleeve crop top but I got it in

literally hit a hole in the scene on on which isn't that noticeable and I could

like get it fixed really easily but this was like ten dollars I think like I'm so

upset that it came with a hole in it is on one of these arms like right on the

ceiling which was super annoying but I probably just sew it up for something so

I'm sky basic crop top so that's that the next thing I got was this dress

which will also be in the upcoming a lookbook

though like I said be looking up for that but this was this plaid I wanted

like a plant and dress so I found this one and it's kind of like is I think

it's a good length like it's not too long

it's not too short I wore it with like a warrant already I work with like over

the knee socks and veins which was really she actually I wore a long sleeve

crap belts we caught up under it and it was like a super cute outfit and I took

some pictures with my fiance in it and they're really cute maybe I'll insert a

picture cuz saw those pictures were really cute so yeah I just like this

it's like classic prank that's like gray and white kind of play it but not really

and it has spaghetti straps which are adjustable which I think it's awesome

because you know sometimes you get things in the stretch so just way too

long and you can't do anything about it those are the just sling straps so

that's cool only thing about this is I feel like it made me look really flat

chested when I wore it with a regular bra so I put on my my best push-up bra

with this because I felt like a little kid when I didn't have one on so I like

this and I also like this a lot better with something under it I feel like an

you look naked when you don't have anything on under this I actually feel

like it looks weird without the top under it so yeah but I'll try this on

and you can see how it looks with out something under it but I really prefer

this with the top on under but that's just me but I guess if you don't wanna

wear anything under that you can wear it in the summertime as well but I like

that a lot so the next thing is this bathing suit which I'm not gonna try on

because it does not fit which I'm upset about because it's super cute so here it

is and it was just a really low-cut bathing suit top in the back was like

really deep it's well in the sides laced up out insert a picture of how supposed

to look I could have gotten a zero but I ordered it to you because I was going by

the size chart and if I wear this in the water I will have all kinds of knits

and my boobs would just be out and no one wants that

so I could I guess I could wear it as a bodysuit with like pasties but I

probably just not gonna wear it because literally about I put this on and I'm

Victo in my booth is just all the way out like so yeah I wish it fit but it

doesn't so I probably just end up giving this away it's from the website pretty

little things I should have gotten zero I got a team sometimes size charts fail

and that one dude so yeah the next thing everything else in this hall is from

forever 21 the next thing I'm gonna pick up is this

cute little crop top I really only got this like I saw the rainbow part and it

was like I need it cuz I just I'm drawn to colors but the little CD on the side

says broken up by still friends mix and I just thought it was the cutest thing

ever and I've worn this a couple times I

think this was like I don't know fifteen or sixteen dollars something like that

but I thought it was really cute it's a really good material it's kind of thick

and it's like not a full crop top like it covers your belly button so you can

wear it with leggings but yeah I think I wore this with like leggings and a

sweater over it thought that was really cute it also comes in black so if you

like that better thanks dad okay next is a skirt which I

have yet to wear but I will be wearing those things and super cute also

bringing this on vacation as well this skirt is tip was 290 and I got an extra

small if skirts at bound to me won't come and extra small always the extra

small if you're tiny because the smallest will not fit so I got this an

extra small and I thought it was really cute because the bottom was like frilly

and I was like ten ninety so I was like why not like if it fails I can just

return it but it's really cute and it's like high-waisted and I got this to go

with one of these sweaters that I'll show you I'll show you next but this

will also be really cute in the summertime or you can wear it now with

my type or like over-the-knee boots though

super cute in the sweater I got to go with that it's one of the one of those

likes what did I say again I'm like a really thin that you can wear in the

transition between fall and winter and spring so I got this this was also on

sale for like five or seven dollars was really cheap and I thought it was cute

cuz it's different cause it's like a bubble sleeve but then it goes like

tight at the wrist so I thought that was different and it has like the lines on

it and it's tight at the bottom so I thought it was really cute and it's

actually really cute with that skirt that I just showed you and yeah it was

really cheap it was in the sales section and I thought and I was like yes you're

getting this so I picked this up and like I say it's one of those sweaters

that's thin enough so you can wear it in the springtime because the spring

sometimes you still get those days where it's like a little chilly and you want

to wear like long sleeves but you don't want a sweater that's like feels like a

cover and you're like sweaty so super cute sweater the next thing is also red

and I got this the other day act drive or 21 because I shopped there way too

much and I got this because we were going on a trip like I said well I'm

gonna trip in May to Miami which is gonna be really fun and my fiance has a

coke outfit Coco out there what I really do not agree with and I really have to

see it on cuz I feel like it's a little crazy but I saw this shirt and I said to

him he was like oh you should get it so connect and it's a crop top and it says

try coke on it and I like it because the bottom of the sleeves and like the PIM

is like roughly so I thought that was really cute and this would be really

cute with some regular shorts and sandals or like veins so I picked that

up and we're going to be twins in Miami so that'll be cute the next day I picked

up with this squirt because yeah I got this an extra small cuz I could say the

things coming to extra small get the extra small

and this was 1990 and I liked it I was like this is way too short and I do it

that was like it's choice so it doesn't matter so I got this and I think this is

gonna be really cute maybe with this next top I was showing you but I don't

know yet I might get another shirt I don't know I'm not sure yet but I really

like this skirt and I didn't wanted a pleated skirt I think like the pleated

tennis skirts are so cute and it's a skort so I can bend over and not be

scared than the whole but it's gonna hang out though it's super cute and

these last two things I got literally the other day oh wait so I got this

shirt a couple weeks ago as well and I just thought it was really cute I'm

really into the black white and red thing because I was watching Riverdale

and Sheryl blossom her whole wardrobe is like super cute and she wears like red

and black all the time and it just made me want to go buy all the bright and

black things and I saw this shirt and 521 and I was like it's casual but it's

cute so yeah I got this is black and white stripe it's like a big boxy crop

top and it has two cherries on the boobies they also had one with

pineapples by just other Church work eutychus black white and red

his wife great and yeah it's just really oversized and I wear this with I've worn

it with jeans but most of the time I wear this with leggings and like a

flannel around my waist or I just wear a sweater over it it's super cute when I

wore this oh it's over to my cousin's house and

they all had comments about the boobies the cherries over the mousse but it's

really keeping I like it so yeah and I think this was like 12 90s though yeah I

could be wrong but like I said I have everything week's down below for you

guys the next shirt I got is also a crop top

because that's all I wear this shirt was twelve ninety and my sister actually

bought this over to me it was like oh it looks like you would like this and she

was right I like the colors like they're bright but like pesto at the same time I

think this would be cute but either you know those

high-waisted denim skirts with the buttons down the front this would be

cute with like a medium or light denim wash skirt like that or high-waisted

jeans and either one of those cup high-waisted shorts any either one of

those colors or if you're about the heavy whole stomach out life just

regular shorts so this is gonna be really cute Miami

outfit whatever cute and the last thing I got which I really love these tops

because you can make them as tight or as loose as you want but I feel like once

you make them tight you can't loosen the make up because I've tried for the life

of me to like loosen his back up and I could not do it but this came in a whole

lot of different colors it was 1090 and I got this in a size

small it was between this or like a mustard yellow color and I got the

black-and-white excites my sister and she said she liked a black-and-white

better and I was leaning towards that column more so I picked this one up but

I also wanted to get it in red and made the mustard yellow in the other like a

really bright yellow and they also had like a olive green I would have gotten

it in every color but ain't nobody got time to spend that much money so I just

got the black and white one and they're super cute it was like really almost

like I made it really tight so it almost just looks like it just covers like your

bra and they're frightened like it's just a lot of stomach but I'm gonna be

wearing this with either how I said shorts or how is this skirt so it'll be

fine because it will be showing that much so this is super cute and it's like

a semi off the shoulder top which i think is also really really cute and I

wasn't gonna shake like this on fashion oh but that was like sold out those made

because it was really cute and I thought woman in forever 21 so yummy and then

actually it for this haul

Glue the images onto the canvas with decoupage glue CGLUE or CL002 .

Paint background with acrylic paints C9020, C4300, C0200.

Cut out the motif of rice paper RP700.

Glue the image onto the canvas with decoupage glue CGLUE or CL002 .

After drying apply acrylic varnish 0CMAT or KADL1.

Fix the stencil K303 with adhesive CAD9721. Mix acrylic paints C0253 and C6266 with Chameleon paint 3458 and paint the surface.
