- [Foxen] How many colossal titans are
sleeping inside of the walls?
Is it millions?
So what's up, guys
Foxen here!
As if one colossal titan wasn't enough,
ironically the walls in Attack on Titan
are jam-packed with them.
This is something revealed to you
at the very, very end of Attack on Titan season one.
Attack on Titan season two started with it, too,
but it didn't get brought up again there.
Eren was too busy smacking down Reiner
and getting kidnapped again.
By the way, Mikasa was the one that
discovered the big ass titan in the walls in the manga.
Anyway, today let's go ahead and get a close look
at these hibernating, hungry giants.
How many colossal titans are inside of the walls?
This includes Wall Sina, Wall Rose,
and the biggest sister, Wall Maria.
Some people think that there's tens of millions
of colossal beasts in there,
but how true is that?
Alright, so time for some advanced calculus.
(Foxen chuckles)
Let's first find out how much actual wall there is
for the colossal titan to squeeze into.
For this, let's keep it simple and assume
that all the walls are perfect circles.
I mean, just 'cause whoever built them
must have been some magic titan wizard.
From the public released information,
you know that from Wall Maria to the center,
it's 480 kilometers.
I'll put the math on the screen.
This gives you circumference of about 3,000 kilometers.
As for Wall Rose,
Wall Rose to the center point is 380 kilometers.
This gives you about 2,400 kilometers.
The distance of Wall Sina to
the center point is 250 kilometers.
The result is 1,570 kilometers.
All together for the estimation of all three walls,
you have about 7,000 kilometers.
Alright, so that wasn't too hard.
How about the colossal titan?
For reference, so far you've only gotten
the one causing trouble in season one.
The official height for this thing is 60 meters tall,
although what we need here is
the shoulder to shoulder distance.
Unfortunately, no official numbers have been given out.
Sad day, video over.
But wait, you could always estimate it.
If you actually take shots of
the colossal titan in the anime,
compare the height to the width,
you get about 14 to 15 meters for it.
By the way, as a side note,
let me just mention that you have to assume
that it more or less keeps the same size
when fully transformed,
none of that partial transformation you saw in season two.
Anyway, let's go ahead and use that
to estimate the colossal width.
I'll use 14 meters to give
the colossal titan's the most space.
Keep in mind that the colossal titans are packed in there.
Remember that wall worshiping group from season one?
The way those guys were locking arms
is exactly how the colossal titans should
be packed inside of these walls.
So using that 14 meter estimate,
with the total of 6,000 plus kilometers,
you get about half a million colossal titans.
So what was that thing about millions of colossal titans?
At best, you have an army of about half a million of them.
By the way, right here,
let me bring up the book,
The Science of Attack on Titan.
They did their own estimation.
I went ahead and bought this book a while back.
In here, they were a little bit more generous
with the estimation of the walls.
In the end, their estimate was 585,000 colossal titans.
Even if I use 13 meters like they did for my figures,
that gives you about 540,000 colossal titans.
A little bit more, but still over all about half a million.
But wait, there's more to this.
If you actually use the official art diagram
for the anime version of the colossal titan,
the width is just a bit over 20 meters.
Let's keep it at 20 and redo our estimation.
This new width gives you just over 300,000.
So, are there tens of millions of
colossal titans in the wall?
I mean, if you want to be extremely generous,
there's about half a million,
and that is including the outer districts.
I guess you could go ahead and be even more generous
and argue that these walls are double stuffed.
If you do think that and double that,
then you get roughly a million,
but going based on the official wall figures given,
you're looking at anywhere from 300,000
to 500,000 colossal titans total.
You might be wondering,
why are there even colossal titans
in the wall in the first place?
That sounds like a great topic for a possible future video.
But anyway, let me here from you.
Question of the day,
were you surprised to find out that
colossal titans were inside of the walls
at the end of season one?
And how many colossal titans did you guess were in there?
Did you believe there were tens of millions in there?
Anyway, if you did enjoy this,
go ahead and give it a colossal thumbs up and subscribe.
You can enjoy five more anime videos every week,
this includes a lot of Attack on Titan ones.
By the way, could your favorite character,
Eren Yeager, be dying?
Check out my recent video to find out about that
and I'll see you guys lay-tah.
