This is a Zilan Gusto electric toaster oven with a 28 Liter capacity and 1300W power
It measures 50cm, by 30cm, by 40cm deep.
I'm starting to think it is a little big
Either way, I am converting it into an SMD Reflow oven
I start by taking it apart
After removing the main cover, I note all the wiring and disconnect it
I also remove the heat insulation on this part of the oven
These are the following components I will use for this retrofit
A Fotek 25 Amp Solid State Relay
An MSP430 micro-controller from TI
A 12x2 character LCD. The 16x2 I wanted to use will not fit the panel
A K Type thermocouple
A MAX31855 thermocouple chip from Maxim Integrated
A transformer with two secondary windings of 12VAC and 6VAC
3 Linear Voltage regulators
And various bits and bobs such as bridge rectifiers, heat sinks, MOSFETs, resistors a fan and some capacitors
I tested all the connections and the switches
I further disassembled the oven and cleaned it thoroughly
I then measured the oven to cut pieces of heat insulation to size
I'm using mineral wool, aka rock wool to further insulate the oven since I want it to be efficient
I then decided where to insert the thermocouple
I drilled a hole on the side of the oven, inserted the thermocouple and screwed it in place
I'm using high temperature silicone to seal the hole and insulate around the area
I then decide on how to mount a fan and the components on the side of the oven
I removed the temperature selector knob so that I will have a place to insert the LCD screen
I then wired in the Solid State Relay and tested that it worked and that it powered the oven
I then worked on a bracket to hold the Solid State Relay
I also mounted the FAN to the same bracket and tested the fan for vibration and noise
I then temporarily assembled the case on the oven to see how it fit with the heat insulation
On the next video, I dive into the electronics and the programming of the SMD reflow oven
