South Korea and the U.S. would usually be holding joint military drills this time of

year, but they were postponed until after the Olympics.

Now the U.S. Defense Department says the details of those drills -- Key Resolve and Foal Eagle

-- will be announced next month after the Olympics are over.

In an email interview with Seoul-based Yonhap News, a Pentagon spokesperson said they were

put off to ensure the security of the Games and to lower tensions.

North Korea calls the drills a rehearsal for an invasion and sees them as justifying its

provocative behavior.

Seoul hasn't revealed anything more about this year's drills, saying the schedule will

be announced at (quote) "an appropriate time."

GM proposes to convert US $2.2 bil. debt for equity, in exchange for financial support to... - Duration: 1:55.

U.S. automaker General Motors appears to getting ready for a possible pullout from Korea.

But in a bid to keep its operations here afloat, sources with direct knowledge of the matter

say GM has offered a deal to the South Korean government in exchange for financial support

and tax benefits.

Park Soyun has the latest.

GM has proposed to the South Korean government, a two-point-two billion dollar debt-to-equity

swap for GM Korea in exchange for government support worth up to one billion U.S. dollars.

With that,... came another offer: the U.S. automaker will invest to develop new models

in Korea as part of its plan to fix its problems here.

Following a meeting with a task force headed by Korea's ruling party on Tuesday,... the

president of GM's international operations said the new models would be produced at three

GM Korea factories around the country,... and GM would eventually look to produce 500-thousand

cars annually.

The offers have been made,... but nothing has been decided,... with South Korean government

officials saying it's too early to push for any financial backing,... as it wants to conduct

due diligence before committing to any support.

The restructuring proposal comes just a week after GM announced it would shut down one

of its plants in the western port city of Gunsan by May and consider whether to continue

operations at its three other plants in Korea.

At the same time,...

GM's call for financial support from the Korean government is raising some eyebrows,... as

the company recently announced plans to invest 265 million dollars in its Kansas plant.

Critics say it's a sign GM is falling in line with President Trump's policy of putting America

and American workers first,... especially as Seoul and Washington are locked in high-stakes

negotiations over a possible amendment of their bilateral free trade agreement.

However,...

GM insists the ongoing FTA talks have not shaped any of their plans or announcements.

US, Abbas clash at UN Security Council - Duration: 1:24.

The Palestinian Authority president says the U.S. can't go it alone anymore with the peace

process between his people and the Israelis.

Mahmoud Abbas told the United Nations Security Council the U.S. has a pro-Israel bias and

should stop leading peace negotiations.

Instead, Abbas wants a new multination conference to jump-start the long-stalled peace talks

and recognize a Palestinian state.

White House senior adviser Jared Kushner joined U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley to

hear Abbas' speech.

Kushner has been leading the White House's efforts to create a new Middle East peace

plan for months, but there's no firm timetable for its release just yet.

But Palestinians are skeptical of President Donald Trump's commitment to the peace process.

He decided to move the U.S. Embassy in Israel into the contested city of Jerusalem and slash

funding for a Palestinian refugee agency.

And Kushner himself has been scrutinized for the extensive financial ties between his family's

businesses and Israel.

Critics argue those connections affect Kushner's ability to be impartial in negotiations.

After Abbas spoke, he left and missed the rest of the speeches, something the Israeli

and U.S. ambassadors to the U.N. didn't like.

Even though Abbas wasn't there, Haley still addressed him during her speech, saying: "Our

negotiators are sitting right behind me, ready to talk.

But we will not chase after you."

U.S. reveals North Korea pulled out of scheduled meeting with Pence at last minute - Duration: 0:53.

We now know that there was a meeting scheduled in Seoul earlier this month between U.S Vice

President Mike Pence and North Korean officials, but North Korea pulled out at the last minute.

That was on February 10th, when Vice President Pence was in South Korea to attend the PyeongChang

Winter Olympics.

Pence's office told the Washington Post on Tuesday that they had been preparing for possible

talks proposed by North Korea before Pence left for Asia.

The two sides had agreed to meet at the Blue House in Seoul the day after the Olympics'

opening ceremony, but two hours before the appointed time, the North canceled.

Pyongyang is said to have expressed dissatisfaction with Pence's announcement of new sanctions

on the regime a few days prior, and his meeting with North Korean defectors and Fred Warmbier,

the father of the American student who died last year shortly after being released from

17 months of detention in the North.

Trump's Had Enough Deep State Meddling, Slams "Judas" Jeff Sessions With 3 Brutal Words - Duration: 4:40.

Trump's Had Enough Deep State Meddling, Slams "Judas" Jeff Sessions With 3 Brutal

Words President Donald Trump has reached his limit

with former President Barack Obama's deep state operatives meddling in our government.

Now, he's got three brutal words aimed directly at Attorney General "Judas" Jeff Sessions

that you don't want to miss.

Despite numerous government officials demanding that Attorney General Jeff Sessions resign

for his betrayal of President Trump and American patriots, he continues to provide a shield

under which deep state hacks like Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and Special Counsel

Robert Mueller can operate.

Trump's had enough of this crap and took to Twitter with his frustration.

According to Daily Caller, Trump let loose on Sessions on Wednesday, February 21, 2018,

in a tweet which said, "Question: If all of the Russian meddling took place during

the Obama Administration, right up to January 20th, why aren't they the subject of the

investigation?

Why didn't Obama do something about the meddling?

Why aren't Dem crimes under investigation?

Ask Jeff Sessions!"

AG Sessions is the lynchpin to the deep state's complete operation.

If it weren't for the fact that Sessions recused himself from the Russian collusion

investigation, our government wouldn't be the laughing stock of the entire world right

now and corrupt people such as Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, James Comey, Andrew McCabe,

Peter Strzok, and many more would be indicted for their crimes.

Many people suspect that Sessions is in some way compromised and won't un-recuse himself

because the deep state has some kind of dirt on him.

If this is the case, why can't Sessions do what he wants criminals in the U.S. to

do — pay the piper.

This isn't the first time Trump has hit Sessions with the ugly truth.

In July 2017, Trump's frustration reached a boiling point when Sessions refused to do

his job and investigate Hillary Clinton's illegal email server and the DNC corruption.

In one tweet, Trump wrote, "Attorney General Jeff Sessions has taken a VERY weak position

on Hillary Clinton crimes (where are E-mails & DNC server) & Intel leakers!"

Additionally, President Donald Trump threw hot fire on Jeff Sessions during an interview

with the New York Times just a week before the July 25, 2017, tweet.

In that interview, Trump blasted Sessions for being deceitful and taking the job of

Attorney General with no intentions of keeping his promise to serve the American people first.

Sessions clearly chose to serve the interests of Clinton and Obama, which left millions

of Trump supporters infuriated with the former Alabama Senator.

"Jeff Sessions takes the job, gets into the job, recuses himself, which frankly I

think is very unfair to the president," Trump said, during the New York Times interview.

"How do you take a job and then recuse yourself?

If he would have recused himself before the job, I would have said, 'Thanks, Jeff, but

I'm not going to take you.'

It's extremely unfair — and that's a mild word — to the president."

At that time, Trump also blasted Sessions for his testimony during Senate confirmation

hearings, saying that Sessions' failure to come clean about his "communications

with the Russians" was bad form.

"Jeff Sessions gave some bad answers," the president said.

"He gave some answers that were simple questions and should have been simple answers, but they

weren't," he added.

Here we are, more than a year into Trump's presidency, and Special Counsel Robert Mueller

is running rampant throughout Washington, D.C., trying to bring charges against anyone

he can, even if they had nothing to do with Trump's presidential campaign. The ugly truth

here is that this is exactly what Obama had planned.

This national embarrassment and complete debauchery taking place in our Department of Justice

and other federal agencies is the spectacle Barack Obama set out to create.

The "resistance" that liberals constantly talk about in regards to President Donald

Trump is exactly what is happening.

Trump has the power to fire Jeff Sessions, Rod Rosenstein, and Robert Mueller.

In my opinion, American patriots would respect him more for taking that necessary action

than if he were to wait for Mueller to attempt a bogus indictment or impeachment.

U.S. reveals North Korea cancelled meeting with Pence at last minute - Duration: 2:25.

Let's start with what could have been a breakthrough event.

Washington says Vice President Mike Pence was set to meet with North Korean officials

during his recent visit here for the Winter Olympics.

That was before the regime pulled out, seemingly upset by America's continued hardline stance.

Kwon Jang-ho has our top story.

North Korea 'dangled' a meeting in front of U.S. Vice President Mike Pence, before it

was cancelled last minute after Pence refused to soften his tone on the regime -- that's

how the vice president's Chief of Staff Nick Ayers described the meeting that could-have-been.

Ayers, speaking to the Washington Post on Tuesday, revealed that the CIA had received

word of North Korea's interest in holding a meeting during the PyeongChang Winter Olympics,

and that preparations began following President Trump's approval and ahead of the Pence's

trip to Asia.

The vice president was given a remit to convey the sincerity of Washington's hardline stance,

although not to open any negotiations.

But only two hours before their scheduled meeting time on the 10th of February, the

day after the opening ceremony of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics, the North Korean delegation

called to cancel.

They reportedly expressed dissatisfaction over Pence's announcement a few days prior

that new sanctions were being planned on Pyongyang.

The North Korean delegation also showed disapproval of a meeting between the vice president and

North Korean defectors, as well as Fred Warmbier, the father of the U.S. student who died last

year shortly after being released from 17 months of detention in the North.

Throughout his trip to Asia, Pence repeatedly said he would fight against the North's attempts

to, quote, 'hi-jack' the Olympics with its propaganda.

A state department spokesperson confirmed the report, saying that although the administration

regrets the North's failure to seize this opportunity, Washington will not apologize

for calling attention to the regime's human rights abuses.

The vice president's office also said Seoul tried to assist by providing the Blue House

as a neutral location for the meeting, but the South Korean top office has declined to

comment.

It had been hoped that North Korea's involvement in the PyeongChang Winter Olympics would open

the road for dialogue with the U.S. as well as South Korea.

But the revelation of this failed meeting shows that there is still a long way to go,

before all sides are ready to sit at the negotiation table.

Trump

says Russians laughing their asses off over US collusion probes

President Trump on Sunday launched a tweet storm over the investigations by the Justice

Department and others into Russia election meddling writing that they are laughing

their as off in Moscow.

If it was the GOAL of Russia to create discord, disruption and chaos within the U.S.

then, with all of the Committee Hearings, Investigations and Party hatred, they have

succeeded beyond their wildest dreams.

They are laughing their as off in Moscow.

Get smart America! Trump tweeted after a

grand jury on Friday indicted 13 Russian nationals and three Russian companies for allegedly

interfering in the 2016 presidential elections.

The case was brought by Robert Mueller, special counsel for the Justice Department, who is

investigating whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia in the elections.

Key Resolve and Foal Eagle -- usually held in late February or early March... were delayed

HORRIBLE THINGS BABYSITTERS DID TO US #4 | Dolan True Stories - Duration: 12:28.

• From trying to sell the family dog to forcing siblings to make out with each other,

the Planet Dolan crew re-enact some of the best true stories from our subreddit about

the worst things a babysitter has ever done.

I'm Nixxiom and today I'll be your narrator.

Number 10 was submitted by The_Cloud_Person Pringle

When Pringle was little, he hated his babysitter.

She hated it when a child of any age cried… and Pringle had a baby sister.

One time, when his baby sister cried, the babysitter yelled at her to shut up or she

would have to go to her room.

But his baby sister continued to cry, so the babysitter dragged her to her room by one

arm.

She also hated it when she had to change diapers, and she barely even fed Pringle or his sister.

The only time she would feed them was if there were leftovers.

She also made them take naps and, if they didn't sleep, she would give Pringle and

his sister spankings that wouldn't leave behind any marks.

The babysitter even told Pringle that if he ever said anything to his parents, they wouldn't

believe him and punish him harshly for lying to them – something Dolan believed since

he was a gullible kid.

It all came to an end when Pringle's dad came home while the babysitter was screaming

and threatening Pringle and his sister with spankings for not sleeping.

She was fired on the spot, and Pringle never saw her again.

Number 9 was submitted by Firedragon_X Grgak Grgak's mom had to leave for two months

when he was 14, so she hired a babysitter who brought her fat daughter.

The babysitter was the worst – she never helped with homework, and never fed him or

the dog, which was a German Shepherd.

She even tried selling the dog for 15,000 dollars!

Though she wouldn't feed Grgak or his dog, she always remembered to feed her daughter.

She never even let Grgak call his mom.

After a month his best friend, MKyleM, and his mom noticed how malnourished he was, so

they invited him and his dog to sleep at their house.

That is when MKyleM's mom called Grgak's mom to come home, which she immediately did.

When the babysitter asked for her payment, Grgak's mom responded by suing her for 50,000

dollars.

Grgak lost 40 pounds during that time.

Number 8 was submitted by Teh_Evil_Pickle Danger Dolan

When Dolan was 4, his dad hired a really young babysitter.

A couple minutes after his parents left, the babysitter walked in and screamed, "Get

in your rooms or else!" Dolan and his brother, Zaraganba, immediately went to their rooms.

An hour later, Dolan got bored and went downstairs on a spy mission – where he saw his babysitter

butt-naked on the couch, drinking a beer.

He ran upstairs and said, "The babysitter is drinking apple juice and is naked!"

Zaraganba was shocked and started laughing, until the babysitter yelled, "I need one

of you boys now!"

Dolan hid under Zaraganba's bed, watching as the babysitter came into the room and grabbed

his brother.

Fifteen seconds later, Dolan went downstairs and saw the babysitter shoving Zaraganba's

head into her cleavage!

She kept saying, "Drink beer, or more boobies!"

Zaraganba muffled, "I'll never drink a drop of beer!" Dolan ran to the babysitter

and punched her in the face, then grabbed Zaraganba and ran upstairs to hide under the

bed.

The babysitter came in, grabbed Dolan by the leg, and yanked him out from under the bed.

She licked his ear, then whispered, "I'll love you forever."

When their parents came home, they immediately called the police.

The babysitter was arrested, and their parents never hired a babysitter again.

Number 7 was submitted by Branden166 SaltySquid

When SaltySquid was 7, he came home from school one day and found that his mom, brother, and

sister weren't there.

Just then he began to hear noises in the basement and got scared.

He grabbed an airsoft gun and went downstairs.

As soon as he got to the last step… his babysitter, brother, and sister jumped out

and scared him.

Startled, SaltySquid shot his babysitter, who got furious.

While screaming at him, the babysitter grabbed him by the ear and dragged him upstairs.

She took his airsoft gun and shot him with it.

His brother and sister told her to stop, and she did but said, "You two are right.

I should stop with the airsoft gun.

I have a better idea."

That was when she gave SaltySquid a water bottle and told him to drink some.

He did, but then his babysitter grabbed his nose and squeezed more water down his throat.

He couldn't breathe, and she took away the water bottle.

When she did, he threw up everywhere while his babysitter and sister laughed.

He grabbed a knife and yelled, "Get the fuck out!"

She said, "I wouldn't do that if I were you," then tackled him.

As she grabbed the knife and threw it across the room, his mom came home.

The babysitter began to fake cry and lied by saying SaltySquid attacked her with a knife

and that she was restraining him.

His mom wasn't buying it, and took the babysitter outside to yell at her.

His mom told her to never talk to her kids and step foot on their property again.

SaltySquid later learned that she was arrested and served six years in jail.

Number 6 was submitted by Original_Name89129 Mimi

During summer break, when Mimi was 5, her mom asked a lady who lived across the street

from them to babysit like she usually did.

The lady came over, but sat on the couch and began to drink a bottle of wine until she

got drunk… something she would normally do.

That time, Mimi asked her to stop drinking, but the lady smashed the bottle on the floor

and said, "Okay, I will you whore."

She then proceeded to poop on the floor.

Mimi was so disgusted that she was about to throw up when she heard glass shattering next

to her.

It turned out that the lady got mad at Mimi because there was poop on the floor and had

started throwing bottles at her.

Luckily, her mom came home and pepper-sprayed the babysitter, then grabbed Mimi and took

her outside where she called the cops.

Number 5 was submitted by Banjo12829 Cidius

The worst babysitter Cid ever had was his brother who was super strict.

One time, when Cid was 5, his brother asked him to play a game he made up.

Although Cid was excited, his excitement faded when his brother pulled out a hammer and said

that the game was called, "Hammer Toes."

They started playing, and Cid got scared and pulled a sheet over his head.

When his brother swung the hammer, it hit him on the nose, breaking it.

Number 4 was submitted by Victuri_is_real Hellbent

One day, Hellbent and his brother were watching anime when their babysitter came over.

She brought over some cosplays of the anime characters from Yaoi and made Hellbent and

his brother put them on.

Then, she forced them to make out in front of her!

When their mother came home, Hellbent and his brother told her what happened… but

she didn't believe them.

The next day, their babysitter came back and forced them to wear the cosplays and make

out again.

This time, their mother came home and saw what was going on.

She yelled at their babysitter and fired her.

Hellbent and his brother ended up burning the cosplays.

Number 3 was submitted by RedWolfy94 Andiemations

When she was 9, Andie and her 2-year-old sister were left in a neighbour's apartment while

their mom and grandma ran some errands.

The babysitter sat Andie in front of the TV, where she watched a magic show.

Andie was engulfed in the show when the babysitter told her something and, even though she didn't

know what the babysitter had said, nodded and agreed with her.

She continued to watch the magic show as the babysitter went into the other room.

About an hour or so later, Andie's mom burst through the door, pissed.

Apparently, Andie's 2-year-old sister had crawled out the open door, up the stairs,

and down the driveway!

Her mom and grandma ended up finding her crawling in the middle of the road.

It turned out that the babysitter told Andie to watch her sister.

She even tried to blame Andie for what had happened.

The woman was responsible for watching them yet left the door open and ignored them.

Andie's mom never left her and her sister with the woman ever again.

Number 2 was submitted by EnclaveSergeant Sweetcommando

The worst babysitter Sweetcommando ever had was a teenage girl his parents always left

him with whenever they went out.

Whenever she watched him, she made him massage her feet and file her nails.

She also made him watch very boring TV shows, then lock him in a dark closet for hours.

Then, about half an hour before his parents were due home, the babysitter would let Sweetcommando

out.

One day, he passed out from fear and didn't wake up until a few hours later.

After that, his parents fired her and got Sweetcommando

a new babysitter, who was much nicer.

Tara Talks - Reflection: Installing a Beneficial Mind-State - Duration: 6:53.

[music]

So what are the ways that we really install an experience?

And part of it is to know it is happening, to saturate and to really appreciate it;

that's part of the installation.

So I want to practice with you.

I want to practice getting a taste of how to install an experience.

Letting this pause be an invitation to sense what is right here.

So we will just begin with mindfulness because

everything we are talking about requires mindfulness.

To install a positive experience requires mindfulness.

Attention to when we are having a good experience, attention to what it feels like.

And you might sense more for yourself right now, you know, what is it that

you really want to experience more regularly?

Is it peace?

Is it gratitude?

Is it love?

For right now, we will explore just deepening and installing more of that sense of loving care.

And you might bring to mind an experience with another person

– someone that is easy for you to feel love with, to begin with –

and bring that person to mind.

Sense them right here, close in, so you can remind yourself of how come you feel loving with them.

You might see the look in their eyes when they are feeling loving towards you.

The expression on their face.

And you might remind yourself of qualities you love about them; how they look when they're

happy, when they are amused or entertained,

when they are laughing,

or in a really tender place, maybe.

Reminding yourself of their goodness, basic

intention to be honest, to be caring.

And as you begin to sense in your body what is the felt experience of loving this person?

What is it like?

You might mentally whisper the person's name and say, "Thank you!"

just to sense your appreciation and notice how that loving grows in your body.

Imagining them receiving your "Thanks" and the connection for your life.

Letting the feelings of love be as full and strong as they might be.

For some it is lovely to put your hand on your heart and just feel

that you are just inviting the feelings of love to be as much as they are.

You might even mentally whisper the person's name, "I love you…", and just

say their name and say, "I love you" and just imagine them receiving that.

Letting the feelings be as full as they are and sensing what matters about this loving to you;

what makes you value it, how it is relevant to you.

Sense how it is not always so accessible and just the valuing and just the kind of wonder of it.

Wow, just beautiful to have that tenderness!

Sensing a freshness in experiencing it.

And feeling the loving as if it is possible to let it into your body and your cells even more as if it

could just saturate you, like you are a sponge just filling up with water

or as if there is a syrup that could just completely fill you,

golden syrup is covering and saturating and filling your being, you can bathe in it.

Really letting yourself let it in.

"Ah this loving! Let it fill me!"

And if it helps, just to mentally whisper the person's name and say, "I love you",

and just feel it again, just really light and warmth filling you,

and sense what you want to remember about this.

Know that you are rewiring your brain, your heart, your body, your mind,

and that the more times you do this,

the more you really give it twenty, thirty seconds to feel directly the loving,

the more access you have to this very innate capacity in your being.

U.S. reveals North Korea cancelled meeting with Pence at last minute - Duration: 2:24.

Washington revealed...

U.S. Vice President Mike Pence was set to meet with North Korean officials during his

recent visit here for the Winter Olympics.

U.S. medal haul falls short of expectations, but there's plenty to celebrate - Duration: 7:02.

JUDY WOODRUFF: The past few days have been rougher for the American team at the Winter

Games in PyeongChang.

Some of the bigger names heading into these Olympics have not won as many medals as hoped.

But as William Brangham checks in with an update from South Korea, the Olympics are

still providing their share of memorable moments in skill, drama and grace.

WILLIAM BRANGHAM: I spoke earlier with Christine Brennan of USA Today, who's also a sports

commentator for CNN.

She's in PyeongChang.

And I began by asking about some of the standout performances in figure skating over the last

week, including the ice dance competition last night.

CHRISTINE BRENNAN, USA Today: When you think of figure skating, of course, it's always

one of the most dramatic locations for any Winter Olympics Games.

And this one has been no different.

Certainly, ice dance had all kinds of thrills and chills and falls and spills.

The Canadians Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir actually won their fifth Olympic medal.

And that's the most Olympic medals ever won in figure skating.

They have had team competitions.

They have had individual ice dance as well.

And they go all the way back to Vancouver, winning the gold in 2010 in their home country.

And now they came back again.

It's a terrific story, staying together in a sport that often is split up, where people

fire coaches and change partners.

And these two have been together since they were little kids, and so a great victory for

Canada.

The U.S., the bronze for the Shibutani, the Shib Sibs, as we know them, Alex and Maia

Shibutani, which was a great result for them and their perseverance.

But the other U.S. ice dancers both fell.

And you really rarely see falling in ice dance.

And just like you almost can't believe this, that this is happening in ice dance, especially

with the country that's the deepest and strongest in ice dance, which is the United States.

WILLIAM BRANGHAM: All right, let's talk about tonight.

It's a big night for women's figure skating.

CHRISTINE BRENNAN: Yes.

Women's figure skating really is the crown jewel of the Olympic Games.

Don't expect a U.S. medal.

The three Americans, potentially Mirai Nagasu with that triple axel, that historic triple

axel in the team conversation, she's in the conversation for the bronze medal.

But this is looking like Russia at the top.

The Russians have not won an individual medal yet at these Games in figure skating, which

they usually own.

They had a team silver medal, but, otherwise, no individual medals in the other three events

so far.

It's going to be, I think, some young names and young faces, especially with the Russians,

15-year-old Zagitova, 18-year-old Medvedeva.

This is -- they're really the class of the field at this point.

So don't expect a U.S. medal.

And I think that's kind of the story of these Games in many ways, not just in figure skating,

about the U.S. performance here.

WILLIAM BRANGHAM: In fact, speaking of that, there have been a number of competitions where

the U.S. has come up short.

What do you think is going on there?

Is this just a function of these other countries just being a lot stronger than we anticipated?

CHRISTINE BRENNAN: I know the U.S. Olympic Committee would love to have the answer to

that question, although there have been Olympics in the past where the U.S. has not done well

at all.

You have to go back in the history books.

It's kind of interesting, because, in 1968, the U.S. won one gold medal at those Games

in Grenoble, France, one the most amazing gold medals the U.S. has ever won, Peggy Fleming,

of course, with her figure skating gold in '68, 50 years ago.

And even going back the Lake Placid, a home Olympics in 1980 for the United States, only

six gold medals, five of them by Eric Heiden and his tremendous speedskating performance.

And then the most famous Olympic gold medal of all for the United States in the Winter

Games.

And, of course, that's the Miracle on Ice in 1980.

So there certainly have been other Olympics where the U.S. has not been -- just had this

incredible medal haul.

But then going back the Vancouver just a few years ago, well over 30 medals.

This one is different.

You're seeing some athletes who are well-known, people like Lindsey Vonn, people like Mikaela

Shiffrin, not having the performances that we expected through the Games, although Shiffrin

does have a gold.

And Lindsey Vonn is going for a big one in the downhill.

But I think that's part of the problem.

I also think it's just the reality of the winter sports scene and the world.

And that is, the United States is good, but often not great.

And that's certainly not satisfying to a lot of Americans, who are used to winning, sports

fans who want to only see victories.

But I also think there is something enticing about seeing it in this platform, seeing the

world come together, the greatest and largest peacetime gathering, regularly scheduled gathering,

of the world.

And I think that that can be something in and of itself, that you don't have to say,

OK, hey, the U.S. is not going to win -- if the U.S. isn't winning gold, silver or bronze,

I don't want to watch.

I don't know that Americans feel that way.

WILLIAM BRANGHAM: And, as we speak, Norway is leading every other country when it comes

to medals.

CHRISTINE BRENNAN: Well, Norway is having the Games of its life.

And I hearken back all the way back to 1994 and the Lillehammer Olympics.

And Norway put on such a push there to have a great Games.

And it's ski jumping and it's, of course, all the cross-country skiing and so many other

things that they are just so good at.

And they were great then.

And they had this incredible push.

And then they had a little bit of a dip.

And I think you can see now how much that they have put the nation's effort back into

winning.

And this is no surprise.

Canada had a great Games in Vancouver.

Russia had a great Games in Sochi just four years ago, although we found out about the

massive state-sponsored doping there that certainly changes our picture and our image

of what those Games were for Russia.

And so Norway, the fact that they -- it kind of ebbs and flow, and now they're back again.

It's terrific to see.

And the exuberance of the Norwegians here, you run into them and they are just so proud

and so happy.

And it makes you just smile.

WILLIAM BRANGHAM: Finally, there have been three different allegations of doping in the

current Olympics, one most notably against a Russian curler who, because of that nation's

prior doping scandal, was having to compete under a neutral flag.

CHRISTINE BRENNAN: Yes, absolutely.

It's almost hard to believe that Russia, known as OAR here, Olympic Athletes from Russia,

that here we are, there's allegations of doping, and, lo and behold, it's an Olympic athlete

from Russia, in curling, no less.

You almost can't make this stuff up.

They're on basically double secret probation here.

They barely got into the Olympic Games.

It's individual athletes.

Of course, as many know, of course, no flag, no Russian flag.

No Russian anthem.

And then the doping allegation we hear about is a Russian athlete?

It's just incredible.

There has been a lot of talk.

And the International Olympic Committee actually did say that they might allow the Russian

flag into the closing ceremony, the idea being Russia behaved, Russia played by the IOC's

rules.

And so now, as a reward, you will get to have your flag come into the closing ceremony.

And I think there's great doubt now about whether Russia will be allowed, OAR will be

allowed to have their flag, because the IOC almost cannot -- frankly, cannot do that after

these allegations.

WILLIAM BRANGHAM: All right, Christine Brennan of USA Today, thank you very much.

CHRISTINE BRENNAN: Thanks very much.
