California's Latest Gun Ban Leaves Many Dumbfounded As They Tackle Suicide In WORST
Way We know that the state of California is run
by idiots, but we didn't know just how stupid they were.
Now, we know after one of their assemblymen has put forward a new gun control bill aimed
at addressing suicides in perhaps the very worst way.Supporters of the Second Amendment
have to wrestle with gun control advocates on an almost daily basis.
Liberal lawmakers want to take guns away from law-abiding citizens, even though it's been
proven that only leads to more gun violence by criminals.
Because, here's an inside secret: Criminals don't obey gun laws!
Yet, liberals still push for greater gun control.
For a group that demands the empowerment of women and minorities, they seem to do everything
to strip them of power.
However, this latest attempt from the state of California will really have you scratching
your head.
Democrat Assemblyman Rob Bonta has put forward new legislation that will allow residents
to bar the purchase of firearms — from themselves.
Uh, what?
Yep.
You can't even make this stuff up.
Assemblyman Rob Bonta (D-Oakland) is pushing a new gun control bill designed to enable
Californians to bar themselves from purchasing firearms.
The bill, AB1927, is presented as a way that people with suicidal thoughts can take away
the option of acquiring a firearm with which to carry out their intentions.

potential law.
Much like "gun free" zones, it will only work if the perpetrators agree to obey the
rules.
Why would someone who is suicidal agree to ban themselves from buying a gun?
If they are intent on ending their life, they wouldn't take the added step to file government
paperwork to prevent their future selves from getting a firearm.
Geez, just writing that made my head hurt!
This obnoxious and ridiculous bill ignores the realities of suicide.
Newsflash, Bonta, you don't need a gun to end your life.
Sadly, a person who is suicidal can take their own life in any number of ways.
You might as well create a ban on cars, pills, and bridges while you're at it.
A person who is feeling suicidal needs serious help, not another bureaucratic hoop to jump
through.
It also ignores the fact that California has a 10-day waiting period, just for this sort
of reason.
The state has a mandatory 10-day waiting period for purchasing firearms, but Bonta said a
study showed Californians who took their own lives usually did so in the first week after
a gun purchase, 57 times as often as in other weeks.

made up to commit suicide is going to do it, whether there's a ten-day waiting period
or not.
So, perhaps instead of focusing on the means that they use to kill themselves, we should
instead figure out the root cause of their desire to do it.
But, that would waste a good opportunity for the left to attack gun rights.
Of course, the usual Second Amendment haters chimed in to applaud this waste of legislation.
Gabby Giffords' gun control group cheered Bonta's bill, saying, "We support legislation
that would empower people struggling with suicidal urges to promote their own health
and safety in moments of calm and clarity by voluntarily adding their names to confidential
gun background-check databases for a temporary period."

can prove they are no longer a threat and thus get their rights back.
Only by proving "they were no longer a danger to themselves or others" can they exercise
their Second Amendment rights again.
So, how are they going to do that?
Under this law, anyone who feels depressed can voluntarily deprive themselves of gun
ownership.
Then, they will have to prove they are no longer a threat to some government flunky.
That might not be possible, depending on the standards California sets.
They will effectively be giving up their rights, unable to ever get them back.
Meanwhile, people who are actually suicidal won't bother with these stupid regulations
and will just kill themselves.
You see the danger?
Much like the rest of gun control, it will only deprive law-abiding citizens of owning
a gun.
The people who pose a real threat will not bother to follow it.
Congratulations, Democrats, you did it again!
You created a worthless law that will only put more lives in danger.
