Jose Mourinho to discover on Monday how long Phil Jones is out for and how many games Victor Lindelof might have to start
JOSE MOURINHO will discover on Monday how long star defender Phil Jones will be out for and – most importantly – how many games Victor Lindelof might have to start.
The England centre-back had been in fine form in the heart of the OId Trafford defence this season until injury struck on Saturday against Huddersfield in a shock loss.
Jones' £31million replacement, Lindelof, had a nightmare against the minnows, with some slapstick defending gifting the Terriers their crucial second goal.
Just 23 minutes into the game, Jones fell awkwardly and damaged a quadriceps muscle but left the ground without any assistance.
Mourinho does not fancy Daley Blind in central defence and Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo missed the Huddersfield defeat through injury.
Rojo could be back in time for the Premier League clash with Chelsea on November 5 and Bailly could be back in time for Swansea on Tuesday.
Former Manchester United and England midfielder Owen Hargreaves hammered Lindelof after his poor showing.
The BT pundit said: "Hes really struggled.
Obviously at Benfica he played incredibly well in the Champions League, some great performances.
But we saw him struggle against Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup and today he was involved in both goals.
He was thrust into action when Phil Jones went off injured and hes come on and really, really struggled.
For Mourinho you have to earn his trust and I think today hes lost some of that with his performance.
