Auto news on Youtube Oct 30 2017

Hey everyone, Johnny here from Tabletop Troubadour, so the announcements out for

the Dark Crystal board game which of course is to follow up to the Labyrinth

board game. I've been brought on again by River Horse and the Jim Henson Company

to create the sculptural assets and the illustration assets for this game again

and we thought it was a great time to show you some of the things that have

been going on to bring their game to life.

So the first thing I had to figure out with the three-ups was scale. As much as

the Dark Crystal is the only single perfect film that's ever had no humans

in it and is all creating a completely different world, so scale is subjective

in the sense that who's to say how big a skekis is or how big Gelfling is

I also wanted to incorporate the fact that there is a human inside

the suit and there's also a Jim Henson sized human who has a Kermit the Frog

sized hand puppet doing a Jen and then you've got Karen Prell doing Kira. It's also

a nice scale for me to push the plasticine round and sculpt in, so the

Gelflings seem a little small because a lot of the time you've got these... they are in

the foreground they've got this these close-ups a lot of the time they're

actually sized up for suit performers so I wanted to find a middle ground there.

Of course that's completely irrelevant to what you're gonna give him the board

game as you can see here these are some 3d print outs that I did just for me

because I personally couldn't wait for the board game to come out so I

printed these so I could paint them and get an idea of scale and you can see

River Horse have decided to make the Gelflings a lot bigger than they

would have been in the film which is understandable considering it's a four

player game, everybody chooses their own character. All of this information has

come from scans of these sculptures here and as I said you know so like Jen is

around the same size as Hoggle so in a lot of ways these Gelflings you should

should actually be smaller the skeskis is here but they were already

feeling a little too small so you can see the reasoning behind making them

bigger by the time they get this big. They are sculpted it in a way that once shrunk

down you're going to be able to get already great looking miniature and to

do that, all of these... a lot of the details on is already wonderfully

detailed characters have been heightened and you know the wrinkles are deeper the

proportions are played with a little bit. Brian Froud and the team that created

the skeksis and the Gelflings, everything in that movie,

everything is just covered and saturated and drenched with these amazing details

especially in the skeksis carapises, carapie, carapises... I don't

know if that's a word but however that said, the ornate coverings that these

guys wear are so detailed and so covered a little objects and pieces that I've

had to simplify a lot of that because again I'm sculpting these basically

for mold-ability, for scan-ability and also ultimately for your paintbrush.

So I started with this guy who is the Chamberlain who after Hoggle is my

second favorite creature and cinema history. All of the shapes and designs

the performance, the voice, the sculpture of the face, everything about this guy

Frank Oz originally performed this in the movie and you watch him to this day

he's not a puppet he is a character. Sadly the actor that voiced has just

passed away about a week ago but everything, every shape, every silhouette,

everything about this pompous buildup of costume that is hiding this really sad

pathetic creature underneath which is like the powdered wigs of times not so

long ago. Every skeksis us is like their own crooked politician and there's

so much character and I've always loved them. I've also been fortunate enough to

have seen this sculpture and this costume straight from the film

physically in person when Peter Brook took me around the LA Jim Henson

creature shop. You can see how big this is going to be in person you know... I don't have

very big hands either if you want to measure that into your equations.

They're already so detailed and so elaborate I'm often having to

simplify a lot of shapes because I know that they're not going to read when

they're this small but I'm also trying to sculpt something that is going to be

a treat for you to paint and this is going to work with washes and dry

brushes so even people that aren't crazy about miniatures like I am and have a

lot of painting will be able to paint these for their board game and they're

going to come out fine. This is Jen obviously the hero of the films the

challenge I set myself with on this sculpture was to do something that all

of the previous toy companies and collectibles of Jen have avoided for

good reason which is all of the the loose strings and drapery that come off

his wrist that primarily were part of the costume to hide the rods of the

rod puppet operating Jen which was Jim Henson himself.

For me overall his character is "I'm not really for this quest but I'm gonna take it on" and I

wanted to capture that in a sculpture while positioning his arms in a pose

where I could push and play around with negative space for all of these loose

strings and capture exactly what's in the film while still being able to pull

this guy out of a mold considering that he's gonna be this big in the end.

As you can see also I've heightened a lot of the design patterns on his

tunic so when thats scanned and when that's shrunk down to this level a bit of dry

brushing and a wash are going to completely sort out your painting job so

anybody can paint that and everything registers and you don't have to go on

and after the fact and highlight some of these details. Kira and Fizzgig, once

again River horse and the Jim Henson Company were really great by letting

me come up with the poses and how I wanted to express these characters

physically. The thing with Kira is she's an amazing

character she's beautiful, she's such a huge part of the film and she's a

fan favorite but from the back if she's wearing a hood, which I chose to

sculpt her in because I wanted another layer of darker color and drapery what I

wanted to do since a lot of people playing the game are going to see here

from the back just depending on me she's on the board I decided to put her wings

sticking out a little bit because there's the scene where she finally

jumped off the cliff and a winged spring up which means there's got to be some

kind of slit in her cloak anyway for them to be able to be active so they hinted at

there at the back and I love the same way with Jen meets her and she

walks in and she pulls down her hood so I wanted to capture that a film moment

and we also had to include Fizzgig, so rather than having Fizzgig as a

little fluffy tumbleweed lump at her feet I thought she could be carrying him

as she does often in the film and that also helped me take care of a lot of

negative spaces that were created in the drapery of her long cloak and more

importantly I had to come come up with a pose where I could include the long

tassels of her cuffs then again like Jen were there to hide the rod puppets

movements when Karen Prell was operating here and so both sides of how she's

using your arms we're thought about in advance of how I could keep everything

that's happening in the costume and how you could get that out of one mold.

That's it from us at Tabletop Troubadour. We hope you've enjoyed the video the

game itself is up for pre-order currently on the River Horse website so

get on that. For me personally it's been a real

thrill working on what I consider the second greatest fantasy film of all time

it's been a lot of fun. it's been very rewarding. Any questions or comments,

we love hearing from you on the Tabletop Troubadour Facebook page or under these

videos so let us know and until then we'll catch you at the great conjunction.

Why Are We Afraid of the Dark? - Duration: 5:12.

[♩ INTRO]

Were you scared of the dark growing up?

Or maybe you still are!

It's not too uncommon for adults either.

When you're young, being afraid of the dark

goes hand in hand with some other fears, like of ghosts, monsters, or other spooky things.

And as you get older, you might not use that sort of explanation anymore.

But these irrational fears still stick around, because there are a lot of ways we learn to

be afraid.

The good news is: research has found out that there are ways to fight those fears, too.

The way we usually develop fears is a well-understood part of psychology.

Most of the time, it's through classical conditioning.

This is when you pair a neutral stimulus — something that doesn't make you feel anything — with

something that you have an automatic reaction to.

Like, imagine a person who's generally cool with dogs.

But then, a dog bites her and she has to go to the hospital.

That'd make anybody freak out a bit.

Then, the neutral stimulus can become a conditioned stimulus, which gives you the same automatic

reaction.

In other words, after that experience, this person is more likely to be afraid when she

sees a dog.

Some phobias, which are extreme or irrational fears, can be caused by classical conditioning,

including a fear of the dark.

Research in animals and humans has found that conditioned responses are probably linked

with the amygdala.

That's a brain region that becomes active when people are afraid, or have a lot of high-arousal

emotions, like excitement and anger.

So conditioned fears kind of make sense: they're based on something that happened to you.

And some surveys have found that most children have had a bad experience with the thing they're

scared of, like spiders or the dark.

But other phobias are of things that you've never actually experienced.

Like, arachnophobia is one of the top fears in the world, but most people haven't actually

been attacked by spiders.

Some survey results, including one sample of over 1,000 children and teenagers, suggest

that we might learn these fears because of modeling.

Like, when your older brother sees a spider and freaks out, so you do too.

Or, where shark attacks are a huge threat, or a horror movie where the killer lurks in

the darkness.

Even more common in that survey was learning through instructional fear acquisition — when

someone tells you to be afraid of something.

This can happen if your mom warns you to watch out for snakes, or when news broadcasters

talk about terrorist attacks, even though the actual statistics say you're much more

likely to die of something like a heart attack.

This is because people tend to use an availability heuristic in their reasoning, meaning they

use what's readily available to their mind.

It's hard to remember the exact statistics about terrorism and heart disease, but boy,

that last story you saw on the news sticks with you.

And it probably wasn't about a heart attack.

In fact, when researchers run studies and try to condition people to fear something

neutral — like associating a certain tone with a mild shock — they're more successful

if they tell people what to be afraid of beforehand.

Now, across all these studies, some psychologists noticed a weird pattern: some phobias are

easier to create than others in certain species.

For example, scientists have observed that it's easier for primates to develop a fear

of snakes or spiders — but not of something like rabbits.

They call this phenomenon biological preparedness.

We can't say for sure why it happens, but one idea is that these fears are somehow ingrained

from our ancestors' behaviors.

Like, all mammals might be more wary around snakes and lizards, because the first mammals

could've been eaten by ancient reptiles.

Some ecologists looked into an evolutionary reason for fearing the dark, based on a risk

from predators, by studying some regions of Tanzania where lion attacks are a threat to

humans.

Using data from over two decades and over a thousand lion attacks, they found that most

attacks occurred right after sunset, when it's dark but people are still wandering

around.

But they also found that attacks were up to four times more common in the ten days after

a full moon than the period before, which is when the darkest part of the night is also

right after sunset.

So if that pattern of lions attacking humans in the dark was also true millennia ago, it's

possible that some early humans became conditioned to fear the dark or the full moon.

Scientists have guessed that people might be predisposed to be afraid of the dark because

we adapted to a risk of predator attacks.

But this is one of the first studies suggesting that darkness actually increased that risk.

But it's worth taking these evolutionary hypotheses with a grain of salt.

It's not like anyone's run a study where they assigned some people to a lion-risk condition

and others to a no-lion condition, and then waited for generations to see what fears develop.

So we've got a couple good ideas about where phobias come from.

And if you have a phobia, psychologists have found ways to treat them.

Many randomized trials show that one of the most effective treatments is called exposure

therapy, which is essentially just conditioning in reverse.

You slowly expose yourself to what you're afraid in small doses — like turning off

the light for five seconds, being in the same room as a spider, or meeting groups of strangers

— until you don't have a bad reaction anymore.

Then you move the spider a little closer, leave the lights out longer, or meet more

people — until the phobia has less power over you.

Now, fear is a really complicated thing.

So if you love being scared by things like horror movies, check out our video about why

psychologists think that happens.

Megatron's Plan - Sentinel's Betrayal | Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011) CLIP - Duration: 7:01.

My master! Such a brilliant scheme!

So when Sentinel left Cybertron, it was to defect?

He was meant to rendezvous with me here on Earth

before fate waylaid us both.

The only way to revive him,

we needed Prime and his Matrix.

Excellent strategy.

Mine, mine!

So he is now your partner, master?

He is my greatest triumph.

So impressive.

Commencing transport.

Stop! No! No, Sentinel!

Forgive me.

Here we are.

Fight us now.

Contact!

Watch out! Move it! Move it!

Autobots, retreat!

Why, Sentinel, why?

For Cybertron! For our home!

What war destroyed, we can rebuild! But only if we join with the Decepticons.

No, it's not the only way. This is our home! We must defend the humans!

So lost you are, Optimus.

On Cybertron, we were gods.

And here, they call us machines.

Let the humans serve us, or perish.

You're lucky I didn't kill you. In time you'll see.

It's not over.

Now, if I were him, I wouldn't let you out of my sight for one second.

It's funny. I was just thinking on the way over here,

I could really use some advice from Dylan, and there he is.

- Can I speak to you, Carly? - Welcome. Please, sit down.

Have a drink.

You know what, I don't need a drink. Or a car, or a job.

I just need to speak to my girlfriend alone.

Is that okay with you, Mr. Inappropriate?

Excuse me.

- What's going on? - I'll tell you outside.

I really think I can help you, Sam.

I remember a talk I had with my dad once about tough choices.

Yeah, now's not the time. We'll set something up, though.

Of course, it was way back, when my dad's firm was in charge

of budget review and accounting for NASA.

You see, the thing that he taught me was,

when it's not your war, you join the side that's going to win.

Move.

Too direct? Or is it just me?

Certainly not you, sir.

You're mine!

No!

- Get help! - Sam, I can't get out!

- Someone get help! - Good night!

Good night, Mr. Dylan.

Get me out of here!

Help! Get help!

- He's young. He will learn. Good night. - Get me out!

It was a fun night.

You really think you're the first man ever asked to join the noble alien cause?

Who are you?

Do you know why we've not been back to the moon since 1972?

Because these two,

they came to my dad and they told him to do some creative accounting.

Make it way too expensive to ever go back. So, he and the others

shut down the American and Russian space programs.

And they've been our clients ever since.

- You helped them kill people? - You think they'd give you a choice?

Besides, it's not like I personally participated.

I am a liaison. I liaise.

It's hostile takeover time, Sam.

Sam!

- Sam! - Let her go!

Sam!

I've had my eye on you for years, Sam.

You're the one spy I've never been able to provide

as someone close to the Autobots.

Sam! Don't do what he wants!

Yes, he will.

They all do.

They will slaughter her, you understand me?

In the time it takes you to blink, they'll do it to her and they'll do it to me.

So you show a little respect

when someone offers you a job!

Wrist.

You are to track down Optimus Prime,

because you're the one human he trusts,

and you will ask one question.

How does he intend to fight back? Strategies, tactics, everything!

Has a nasty little bite, doesn't it? It's very high-tech.

It lets us see what you see, hear what you hear

and it taps your nervous system.

So, if you so much as try and signal...

I don't know what to tell you, Sam.

Relationships have consequences. I am here because of my father.

She is here because of you.

Stop, stop! Stop! Stop!

Soundwave, would you please?

Sam, do your job.

She'll be safe. I give you my word.

I'll kill you. You have my word.

Autobots Exiled 'There is No Plan' Scene | Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011) CLIP - Duration: 9:46.

Combatant Commands are now at DEFCON 1.

Approximately 200 Decepticons are now in hiding.

Energon detectors have been triggered

as far away as South America and China.

The U.N. just received an encrypted audio file.

They say it's from the leader of the Autobots.

Defenders of Earth.

We have come for your natural resources

to rebuild our damaged planet.

When we have transported all we need,

we will leave your world in peace.

For such peace to exist,

you must immediately exile the Autobot rebels you have harbored.

Nonnegotiable.

Renounce the rebels.

We await your reply.

We'll debrief you in transit.

Yeah, I really don't see how I can be of any help.

I mean, you guys seem pretty busy.

We could just do this another time, I think.

I have underestimated you at every turn.

What?

You warned us that they were using humans.

And you knew that Sentinel was the key.

Director!

Who am I? Hey, you're the expert. I'm just a walking security risk.

Are you all right?

Yes.

- No, you're not. You're sweating. - I'm fine. I'm fine.

I'm sweating because I'm nervous.

I'm nervous because you got me in here with this information.

Okay, I'm a Twitter junkie. I blog everything.

- I can't keep a secret to save my life. - You wouldn't dare.

- That's the truth. I'm telling you. - Director, the Pentagon's calling in 15.

- What are you doing? - Nothing. What are you doing?

Get away from me.

It's been a remarkable series of events today at the Capitol.

Just moments ago, legislation was passed

to exile the Autobots from American shores.

The U-S. Military alliance with them is officially overt.

In the words of the House Majority Leader;

The sponsor of today's resolution,

- ""We cannot in good conscience..." - Okay.

What? They can't do this.

- You gotta tell them. They can't do that. - Okay. It's official. It's a go, people.

These are our allies. The Autobots fought for us. They fought with us.

And where are we now?

Facing an enemy invasion

with an enemy that has the means to deploy countless more.

If there is any more you know,

anything at all about the enemy's intentions,

now is the time to tell.

Autobots have no way of leaving this planet.

And that is where you're wrong.

Its name is the Xanthium.

It brought the second wave of Autobots

and it's been under NASA's care and study ever since.

We linked it with a decommissioned shuttle

to maintain military control until they're gone.

Gonna be 10,000 pounds of torque on that itsy-bitsy bolt, not 19!

You're gonna risk the lives of all me mates! I'll ball you!

These guys are the Wreckers. They take care of the Xanthium.

We don't let them off the base much, 'cause they're assholes.

You gotta pull that, ya nancy wanker!

It's time to kill him!

I'm just trying to help, you know. Just doing my job.

Just calm down. Leave him alone. This is a human being.

- Epps! - You are ridiculous!

- Is that you? - What up, man?

What are you doing here?

I retired from the Air Force.

Can you let my hand go?

What the hell was that?

Now I just consult to run interference for them.

Well, you're not helping!

No more combat and aliens shooting at my ass. I got a dream job.

Time to get off this planet.

Kicking the Autobots out. Can you believe this is happening?

- Where do you think it's taking them? - Any planet but here.

I wanna talk to whoever's in charge here!

Well, well, well. Charlotte Mearing.

Agent Simmons. Former Agent Simmons.

So I see you survived Washington.

Washington, Egypt, heartbreak. I survive. I will survive.

They're bringing everybody in, kid. Putting all the intel on the table.

And if you think deporting nine Autobots is gonna solve a damn thing...

It's out of my hands.

Moving up in the world?

Your booty looks excellent.

If you ever say a word to anyone

about what happened that night in Quantico,

I'll cut your heart out.

You already did.

Sammy, listen to me. Don't let them exile us.

- Don't let them take us, Sam. - It's a Decepticon trap.

Check the nitrogen levels. We're booking out of here.

Optimus?

What your leaders say is true. This was all my fault.

I told them whom to trust. I was so wrong.

That doesn't make it your fault. It just makes you human for a change.

Remember this.

You may lose your faith in us,

but never in yourselves.

I need to know how you're gonna fight back.

I know this is strategy, I know you're coming back

with reinforcements, something. I know there's a plan.

You can tell me. No other human will ever know.

There is no plan.

If we just do what they want, how are we gonna live with ourselves?

You are my friend, Sam.

You always will be.

But your leaders have spoken.

From here,

the fight will be your own.

Make it short.

We're loading up.

All right, hustle up! We're launching at dawn.

We're gonna do whatever we can. Make it like it was.

You will always be my friend, Sam.

I gotta be going on.

Years from now, they're gonna ask us,

"Where were you when they took over the planet?"

We're gonna say,

"We just stood by and watched."

You should really look at this as a partnership.

You have to stand on the side of progress

if you wanna be a part of history.

Seven, six, five, four; Three, two,

One, zero.

Go ahead and throttle up.

You wanted an answer. You got one.

I always get what I want, Sam. We just needed to be sure.

Sure of what?

That they would go without a fight.

- Say again. - Tracking an incoming object.

We all work for the Decepticons now.

THE DARK SIDE - Episode 066 - Duration: 15:34.

This is Millionaire Case Study Episode 66

Yo what's up guys! Today is July 12th 2017 and this is actually a rare take 2

for this episode episode 66. So I started shooting this episode actually super

super early this morning, I stayed up late overnight cleaning up

my office and just kind of resetting everything going through papers and

stuff like that and I was like well at the end I'm gonna shoot my entire case

study but then as I started doing it I was so tired I didn't know what to say.

So got some sleep it's now in the afternoon late afternoon or in the

evening here on Wednesday. So what did I want to talk about in this episode I

think where I want to start with this episode is is going into like the

emotional state that I'm in because that's what I want to be able to

document on this journey for other people to be able to see for me to be

able to go back and watch but so if you've watched all the episodes up to

now a lot has actually been going on with getting new clients and stuff like

that a lot of traveling and there's a lot of highs and lows in life in

business and entrepreneurship in general and certainly on this journey not just

highs and lows of what's happening in terms of sales coming to you or

opportunities or circumstances but also highs and lows in your emotional state.

And the last few days honestly if had I've been in kind of a low I'm pulling

on the other side of it right now the last time I did a Millionaire Case Study

episode was July 1st I think and so that shows I try to do one every week and

I've been trying to do this episode over and over it seems like not many takes

but just like oh I'm going to do that today and just didn't get to it didn't

feel like it and I'm finally shooting it. And it's I don't know why we go through

these lows but I just want to document that they happen and maybe give a little

sense of what I've done to pull through it. So it's what the low felt has

felt like is a lot of overwhelm and I don't know if it's overwhelmed because

I'm stepping into something they'll with like getting all these clients so

there's all these clients that I on on social media that I wanted that I had to

on board and so there's a little bit of stress there but then what it started to

make me do was is not fully doing much in fact it kicked me into this mode of

nostalgia in a really big way and I almost feel like that helped me process

a lot of this like a few days ago on Sunday I spent almost the entire day

looking through my journal and seeing where my life was like 10 years ago

and before like when I was 17 18 because I have a journal I've been journaling

ever since I was 17. I spent most of the day doing that and I don't know it's I

that seemed to feel good again I don't know what's cooking me into that another

thing that could be kicking me into it is Becca and I my wife are expecting

our new baby girl any day now and for some reason I think

that experiencing this like to the end of a pregnancy again is kind of

triggering to what it felt like three and a half four years ago when Archie

was coming so I put me in some weird funk but I'm still I'm still not where I

need to be like I need to make some shift because throughout all of this

there's thoughts of like what if I don't get enough business, like I said I want

to get in my last episode what if some people cancel and it's actually less

like there's those thoughts that are like repeating and I'm trying to combat

it. So what have I done to combat at it I think that's something worth talking

about so besides just being nostalgic and kind of processing it that way I've

done quite a bit of meditation that's something that I try to incorporate into

my life ever and so that's helped a bit and also

writing and this has been interesting because I know that writing helps and

writing and just putting out exactly what I'm feeling is a way of like

processing it but even that for whatever reason in

this stage that I've been in it's been so hard to get myself to actually sit

down and write and that's actually why I created a day like today. Today I have

turned off my cell phone so I don't have any distraction from either social media

or people calling me I'm not checking email to kind of give myself this this

space to get clear on what the frick I want to do and to go do it because it

this doesn't feel good being in this space. I want to be in the mode of like

yes I can do it like feel like I can do it and just take action on it and while

I've been in the funk I do feel like I'm on the other side of it. I'm turning the

corner I don't know exactly what put me there or exactly how I'm getting out but

I do feel that it is happening and these other things like meditation and writing

I think are a big part of that and after this episode is done after I'm done

shooting it something I'm gonna do is just sit down do something that I've

done before that I know helps do a brain dump where I just list out every single

thing that's on my mind get it out there pick the ones that are most important

that I need to be doing this week or this month and focus on that. Another

thing that helped too, I don't know if you can see but I used to have a big pile of

papers it's gonna be here to see I just have a big pile of papers in that thing

it's kind of my inbox up here in my office

and I just went through and cleared them all out and you might even notice that

my whatever that board is called that anyway that was covered with papers and

stuff some of there was even inspirational but I was like you know

what it's been there long enough I'm gonna put it away

so I stored most of it in there and I also went through my filing cabinet

and just got rid of a bunch of files that I just don't need and fill up like

a trash bag so trying to just reset myself and reset myself and give myself

space to do I need to do. So the rest of today that's my game that's my game plan

it's to get total clear total clarity on what it is that I need to do between now

the this week that I said this week and this month.

So speaking of this month I want to update on some things the first one is

my hair it's getting too freaking long so to document the ups and downs one of

my major goals for 2017 is to get down to 140 pounds well a month ago I got

down to a month ago I got down to 149 then through the month of June I ate

like shit did not stay true to what I committed to do and I end up gaining it

all the way back up to like 161 162 which pisses me off.

Oh cuz man it just doesn't feel good to to set that golf knowing I could have

been a lot farther and it didn't work so the last few weeks I've really gotten

more serious with this. What I'm doing right now is staying really dang

consistent with a few things first of all staying close to a program that I

know I can do and stick to something I like to stick to is something called

whole 30 just eating real food because that allows me to not have to overthink

it and off to measure and it's usually pretty good food so I'm sticking the

whole 30 pretty well that's the first thing I'm doing. The second thing is

intermittent fasting where I go at least 14 to 16 hours without eating so that I

eat my food within that window and then the third thing is I'm being consistent

with yoga and exercising but something I've barely incorporated this week that

I'm going to be doing more especially starting next week to

end the month is cardio. Insanity Max 30 with Beachbody workout program and then

the final thing that I don't know where I got this it's just an idea I had and

I'm gonna see if it works and that is every week until I hit my goal I'm gonna

do a 2-day fast where I don't eat any food just coffee tea or broth. And over

the past week I just stepped on the scale this morning I'm now down to like

155.8 or something like that I still have like 15 16 pounds to go to my goal

and I just want a freaky and hit it. Because another thing that happened

something that I've been documenting and really looking forward to over this

these last several episodes is getting more paid speaking gigs and a few

episodes back I talked about how some came in to me well I've been going

through the pipeline I got one agreed to I thought I lost it I got it back and I

have a paid speaking gig at the end of this month where I'll be

speaking on social media and I think what's important to know on this one is

besides almost losing it is is it's almost three grand which is awesome

because it's actually paid so that's the big thing is that it's actually paid so

it's happening and they're also gonna pay for my hotel room and stuff like

that but how this is gonna be this is something that's new for me in the sense

that I think I'm speaking longer than I've ever spoken I think it's gonna be

an hour and a half ish so that's a big deal. But two things that I negotiated

with this deal first one I'm gonna have a booth for the whole three-day event I

have not done that before to potentially sell my services.

The third thing or the other thing is I get to make an offer from stage all

right this will be the first time I've ever given an offer at a pitch from

stage. So I'm pretty excited to see how that goes and then I have another

speaking gig that's pretty much looks like it's gonna happen.

We're just finalizing some words on the agreement then it'll be signed and I'll

update you and that happens and then speaking of speaking the other thing

that happened just to update you is I've been wanting to get closer to doing a

TED talk. I submitted myself to a bunch of places and two nights ago I got an

email that says I'm being considered, it's not official or anything but I'm

being considered for a TED talk, a TEDx talk in Las Vegas and part of that

consideration is I can choose to go give a TEDx pitch August 4th and what that's

gonna be is it's basically if I'm selected even do that I replied that

email and said yes I'm interested and if I'm selected for that then I'll go give

a five minute pitch or a five minute talk around the idea that I want to talk

about and so I think if I get that which I'm hopeful for and they like that

five minutes then I'm more likely to get the bigger stage because I'm not

officially getting I'm not if I don't do this Ted X pitch then they're not going

to discount me for the regular TEDx stage but I want to take an advantage of

the opportunity to just give it a shot and then see if it increases my chances

of it happening on the main stage. So that's really what's happening in my

world right now again baby B as we call her actually when you see this we'll

probably already have her named so I'll just say little baby Bell is likely

gonna be born when I release this episode and so she's word aiming to have

her come any day now so that's kind of a big focus of mine

that's one of the reasons I'm staying here not traveling as much and I have a

few clients I'm launching still got one launch that took way too long like a

month to launch which is kind of a bummer because now we don't get paid for

the a second payment to like 30 days after

launch so we like wasted a month on that. But I guess just giving you details on

what's going on so that's my world looking on the other side of this funk.

I'm excited to see how to get back in full gear and just start crushing it to

make this journey, make the most of it make the most of this journey this

millionaire journey that I'm on right now. So I'm gonna wrap it up right there

thank you so much for watching I this isn't the most exciting of episodes I

know and it's kind of all over the place but I think that gives a sense of how

this journey has been at times and if you're watching this and I've already

made the million hopefully that can give you some confidence that as here I was

at this stage I have was dealing through the same stuff not knowing exactly I was

gonna do feeling overwhelmed but somehow breaking through a play shows that you

can do it too. So I'm Calvin Wayman documenting the

first story from somebody going from zero to a million as it's happening.

Thank you so much for watching.

Wigdor Cycling Studio "The Dark Room" - Duration: 2:35.

So The Dark Room is what it sounds like.

You walk in, it's dark, we have black lights, the walls and the floors kind of react with

that black light.

It's the trend now that cycle is kind of going into these dark studios where it's you, your

bike and the instructor provides really high-energy, club-type music.

So it's not just being out on the road and riding.

It's really getting into the music, getting into beat of the song and kind of feeling

your way through that ride in the dark.

A few of our seniors from now a couple of years ago, Sara Meinecke and Grant Phillips

worked on concepting some ideas for this space under the direction of a faculty member, Chrissi

Cowhey, who teaches in Communication Design.

And then at the end of the project, the final production work was done by Susan Lee, who

has also now graduated.

Those are important projects for students.

They do, of course, a lot of classroom projects and then they also, most of the students in

Communication Design do a lot of internships and do a lot of things that help them if they

want to work in the industry.

So projects that are on campus are a really nice in-between space where they can test

out some ideas, but still see those ideas realized on campus in a relatively public

way, sort of before they move into a more professional job outside the University.

The Dark Room studio when we first came online in St. Louis, we were the one and only studio

that had and kind of looked like what we did.

Having that dark atmosphere, having the reactive lights, having the technology that we have.

Somebody who's seeking that type of cycle can find it here.

So our students and our faculty and staff have that opportunity now to have what is

the trendiest type of cycle here in their own back yard.

Performance IQ is the technology we use in the studio.

It's a leadership board.

It tracks everything from your heart rate to your RPMs.

It tracks your watts.

We're able to do a lot of really fun activities with that particular board.

The board also allows us to kind of track our members' progressions.

We do use the leadership board for our PE cycle classes so we can see are you resting,

are you working harder than you should be, are you working in the cardio zone in your

endurance zones.

So it gives us all of that information right in a BearFit class or long-term with a PE class.

My Review Monday: The Dark Net by Benjamin Percy - Duration: 1:58.

Hi, I'm Katie from the Seekonk Public Library.

It's almost Halloween, the perfect time to read a scary book.

I just finished this new book called "The Dark Net" by Benjamin Percy.

This story is about four characters; one of them is Hannah, she's 12 years old and her

blindness has recently been cured by wearing a prosthetic.

Unfortunately, she's also seeing things that no one else can see.

Her Aunt Lina, who is a journalist, is investigating the sale of a home that used to belong to

a serial killer.

When she gets there, she sees a group of people who are excavating the basement and they've

uncovered this mass grave, but the skeletons are not completely human-looking, there are some parts that the skeletons look like beasts.

Then there's Mike Juniper; he's the owner of a homeless shelter.

He used to be a evangelical because he had a near death experience where he saw God.

That was until he was visited by a demon that almost killed him.

He has kind of known the demons were coming back and he's been preparing for it by stocking

up with all sorts of weapons. Then there's Derek, who's a hacker, but he's a good hacker.

He goes after the bad guys on the Dark Net.

The Dark Net is a real thing, it's part of the Internet you get to on a tour browser, you

can search anonymously and a lot of criminal activity goes on there.

These characters converge when demons are going to try to use the Dark Net as a gateway

from Hell to enter this world.

It's a real fast-paced read and just the fact that it's written in present tense makes it

feel even more suspenseful and fast-paced.

It's a really good story to read this time of year, very spooky.

I highly recommend it.
