U.S. Special Representative for North Korea Stephen Biegun is in Pyeongyang to discuss

the details of the second North Korea-U.S. summit.

He departed from Seoul on Wednesday for working-level negotiations with his North Korean counterpart.

We have our Park Hee-jun on the line for us at the foreign ministry.....

Hee-jun...what's the latest?

Ji-yoon, it's now day two of Biegun's visit to Pyeongyang.

He's believed to be continuing preparations for the upcoming summit with his new North

Korean counterpart Kim Hyok-chol, who is the former ambassador to Spain.

The two sides are aiming to find some common ground between North Korea's demands and the

United States' demands.

The North has offered to dismantle its plutonium and uranium enrichment facilities that provide

materials for nuclear weapons.

That includes the permanent shutdown of its Yeongbyeon Nuclear Complex.

And it could also offer to destruct its ICBMs.

But that's only if the U.S. takes corresponding measures.

There's the possibility of setting up a joint liaison office in Pyeongyang, declaring an

end to the Korean War and providing humanitarian assistance.

But Pyeongyang has been mostly requiring the removal of economic sanctions.

It would be difficult for Washington to remove them right away,... but Biegun did say at

Stanford University last week, that the U.S. is preparing a special economic package for

Pyeongyang.

And seeing how the North Korean leader highlighted the resumption of the Gaeseong Industrial

Complex and Geumgangsan Mountain tours in his New Year's address,... these could also

be the possible corresponding measures.

And with less than three weeks remaining until the Vietnam summit,...

the negotiators in Pyeongyang will also have to finalize the exact venue for the talks.

President Trump has only announced that the second summit will be held in Vietnam from

February 27th to 28th.

It's seems they have yet to decide whether it will be held in the city of Hanoi or Da

Nang.

Now, it's unclear whether the negotiations will be wrapped up today,... or whether they'll

continue into the third day.

Because there are a substantial number of issues to discuss.

And without a clear set of agreements,... it would be difficult to ensure the success

of the second Kim-Trump summit.

And there is speculation that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un may meet Biegun before

he departs.

I'll get you up to speed with that,... when we hear more.

Ji-yoon.

Trump says 2nd N. Korea-U.S. summit to be held Feb. 27-28 in Vietnam - Duration: 2:40.

well we start with US president Donald Trump's highly anticipated State of the

Union address in which he laid out the details of his second meeting with North

Korean leader Kim jong-un and to start us off eun-jung bin reports in his State

of Union address Tuesday night local time President Trump said the second

North Korea US summit will be held as widely expected in Vietnam at the end of

this month much work remains to be done but my relationship with Kim jong-un is

a good one chairman Kim and I will meet again on

February 27th and 28th in Vietnam Trumble the meeting chairman Kim for the

second time their first summit was lost June in Singapore but for several months

now progress on denuclearization seems to have salt in his speech Trump said he

would continue working for peace on the Korean Peninsula and touted his

accomplishments in America's relationship with the north as part of a

bold new diplomacy we continue our historic push for peace on the Korean

Peninsula our hostages have come home nuclear testing has stopped and there

has not been a missile launch in more than 15 months if I had not been elected

president of the United States we would right now in my opinion be in a major

war with North Korea though he didn't name a specific city or venue for the

next summit many observers think it'll be either Hanoi or the Ming the

announcement came as talks were underway in conn-young

on Wednesday Korea time between high-level officials from the US and

North Korea to fine-tune the summit agenda after Trump's speech South

Korea's presidential office of Cheong Wa Dae welcomed the announcement of the

dates and said it hopes an improving u.s. relationship with Vietnam will help

create a new path for the u.s. and North Korea as well Trump said he will also

meet Chinese President Xi Jinping the end of February to discuss broader

issues including denuclearization and peace on the Korean Peninsula and

us-china trade as for America domestically in his speech Trump praised

his administration's stewardship of the economy

he called for stronger border security including a wall to stop drugs and

illegal immigration and he appealed for unity in a divided Congress in German

second summit between their leaders Wang he has more the US Special

Representative for North Korea Stephen began arrived in North Korea on

Wednesday to iron out the details ahead of the upcoming second summit between

Kim jong-un and president Trump according to the US State Department

vegan will be meeting with his new North Korean counterpart Kim dr. the Knorr

former ambassador to Spain and a South Korean official says there's a high

chance that vegan will spend the night in North Korea

these working-level talks are to prepare for a second Kim Trump summit the two

sides will be discussing what North Korea should do next and what the US can

give him the turn last week speaking at Stanford University vegan said when

secretary Pompeo visited Pyongyang in October last year Kim jong-un promised

sanctions relief The Washington Post has previously reported that the u.s. is

Venezuela blocks US aid transports | DW News - Duration: 5:48.

a standoff over humanitarian aid deepens as Venezuela's political crisis plays

out on the country's border a convoy with desperately needed aid remains

stuck at the Colombian border city of kakuta now Venezuela's government's led

by Nicolas Maduro has ordered the army not to allow this aid in the aid has

been organized by the United States and Venezuela's opposition who want to see

Maduro removed from power now Venezuela's military has to choose

whether to obey government orders or let the aid pass we have this report

Venezuelan soldiers keep watch at the barricades on the 10 Dita's bridge

border crossing president Nicolas Maduro has called aid supplies offered by the

United States a form of foreign intervention he's ordered the soldiers

to turn the assistance away but the soldiers have also been given another

order by Juan Guido the opposition leader who last month declared himself

that as well as interim president I give a direct order to the armed forces

necessary humanitarian aid to enter to take care of your family that has put

the focus on the military personnel at the border and their commanders which

president will they obey pedestrian bridges of the border remain open

Venezuelans can still cross to buy goods they can't get at home but many who have

no money to go shopping in neighboring Colombia don't understand why the aid

shipments are being stopped I am asking you to please open the border let the

food pass

if like you say you really love Venezuela if you really feel something

inside of you if you love your family your children

and you sure do love them then you need to love us Venezuelans as well I'm

asking you please open the border mr. Maduro Maduro has dismissed the US aid

offer as a political show in the capital Caracas supporters signed a petition

that's to be sent to Washington telling Donald Trump to keep his hands off of

Venezuela we want to safeguard our rights and interests because external

forces are attempting to seize our national wealth at a military rally on

Wednesday Maduro called on troops to show patriotism and unite against the US

by the US Empire by the President of the United States of America mr. Donald

Trump there is a fear this aid standoff could escalate but for now along the

border the troops still appear to be following the orders of Nicolas Maduro

let's cross over to the Venezuelan capital Caracas from where dwu

correspondent Oscar Schlenker joins us on the line so Oscar what is the

situation on the bridge right now well the situation at the border bridge

remains blocked from the Venezuelan side this is a bridge that was just

constructed at the border in an area that has not much transit so it came

into focus when most of the humanitarian aid went to Colombia was being gathered

near this passing however rushed blocked this bridge and prevent the aid from

entering Venezuela Puerto Rico's Secretary of State Primera marine

announced the shipment arrived evening a passenger plane on what he said was the

secret flight so while all the attention of the venez one public and the media

was focused on the Colombian border what the Ricoh has

he's going a flying filled with a ton of humanitarian aid into Venezuela in what

the Secretary of State a foot of reckless calling a secret mission okay

so some aid indeed is getting through but I just want to quickly return to you

know the aid that is supposed to arrive by land because we know that the

opposition leader Guido has spoken about that and I'd like to you to take us

through a couple scenarios here I mean if it does end up getting through over

this bridge what happens then and does grideau have a plan yes has indicated

there are between 250 and 300 thousand people who need urgent medical help and

are at risk of dying people who need medicine and an urgent care she says the

first cargo of aid sent to Colombia and the Caribbean is enough to keep for

hospitals running for one month the food that is being delivered it's mostly

nutritional supplements for children which has been the most vulnerable to

malnutrition and sickness these last few years

I mean difference we land up 12 children who died in today from a bacterial

outbreak in the hospital in Onslow Peggy for example so this hate is very much

needed and could help a lot of people okay and again confirming that for us

that Puerto Rico has been able to get aid in to the country by air as many

were waiting for that shipment by land which is currently blocked Oscar

Schlenker with the very latest on the situation from Caracas the Venezuelan

capital thank you

you

U.S Customs and Border Protection Provides Support for Super Bowl LIII - Duration: 3:26.

>> So here at Super Bowl LIII, CBP

is really bringing to bear the unique capabilities

that we have with respect to our resourcing and our mission set.

So from enforcing the temporary flight restrictions

and providing air support for the entirety of the state

and local law enforcement here and the NFL during the event,

to also screening all the trucks and deliveries and merchandise

that's coming into the venues,

as well as manning the operation command centers,

working alongside our HSI partners to enforce the trade laws

and the intellectual property right enforcement work

that we're doing with them.

It is a wide variety of the diverse and unique mission

set that we have that we're bringing to bear here at Super Bowl LIII.

>> We're here in Atlanta, Georgia, to support Super Bowl LIII.

Our primary objective is to serve as the quick-reaction force

at some of the events throughout the city.

Tonight, the concert that we're working at,

it's headlining the Foo Fighters.

Ourselves, along with Fulton County SWAT

and FBI PMOs, are going to be serving as the quick-reaction force.

This venue holds around 8,000 people, and there's roughly 3,000 VIPs

that are going to be at the event today.

>> Hi, I'm Joe Cardona,

long snapper for the New England Patriots.

I just want to give a shout out to the men and women

of the, of Customs and Border Protection.

All you guys do to help keep our country safe,

can't appreciate it enough and make these,

make this opportunity for us to play

in the Super Bowl really happen and really special.

>> Air and Marine partners every year with DOD

to enforce the no-fly zone. The no-fly zone is officially known

as the temporary flight-restricted zone.

It's a 30-mile ring around the center of the stadium in two increments,

a 10-mile inner ring and a 30-mile outer ring.

So our mission is the "low and slow" mission,

where we try to deter people from flying in the 30-mile ring

and definitely keep them out of the 10-mile ring.

The 10-mile ring is absolutely a no-fly zone.

>> So the main challenge has been manpower.

We're manning command centers all over Atlanta.

We're working with other parts of CBP, notably Air and Marine,

as well as the FBI,

the Atlanta police department, ICE, Secret Service,

and we're having to get our manpower out

while still maintaining the regular security

and processing that we do here at the airport every day.

And we're doing that frankly by just working long and hard hours

and getting dedication from the troops

and to make the job happen and get it done.

Large Migrant Caravan Reaches US Border, ICE Arrest 21 Savage (Full Compilation) - Duration: 52:35.

around 1700 migrants have arrived at the Mexican border city of pedras Negri's

across from Texas hoping for passage to the United States through the Eagle Pass

border crossing buses helped transport the group of migrants to temporary

shelter in the city where medics are on site doing checkups and tents are set up

for food previous Caravan stopped at the border city of Tijuana seeking to cross

into California this is the first time a large group of migrants from a caravan

now hopes to cross into Texas Border Patrol agents set up tonight along the

border as a caravan of roughly 2,000 people will attempt to seek asylum an

Eagle Pass right now they're just a few yards away and that's where we find

Eyewitness News reporter jaleesa irizarry live from Eagle Pass with the

very latest jaleesa yeah that's right we're actually at Shelby Park right now

and this park is actually closed to the general public for safety reasons it's

actually just a few yards away from the Mexican border this is the Rio Grande

right here Mexico just a few yards away the bridge behind me that's the bridge

that connects Mexico to the US border and as you can see behind me there are

also patrol officers the border patrol officers all along this Parkway and

because of this caravan there has been an increase in law enforcement in this

area we've seen a large presence of customs Border Patrol and a number of

DPS state troopers the mayor of Eagle Pass tells us they will likely have up

to a hundred more state troopers in the area than they usually have as this

situation plays out this caravan is of mostly Central American migrants looking

to t seek political asylum as the mayor of Eagle Pass says he wouldn't be

surprised if this situation is brought up at the State of the Union tonight the

mayor says Eagle Pass does not need a wall what it needs is more funding to

better the technology used at the port of entries there has been you know drugs

or illegals that have crossed through the ports of entry this is not a

situation where we're seeing a majority mass invasion of daily people that are

crossing on the on the riverbanks on into on into US soil

now we did ask the mayor if you were able to speak to the President of the

United States what he would say he would invite him out here he said come on down

to Eagle Pass and see what we're dealing with for yourself

we're alive in Eagle Pass jaleesa irizarry Ken's 5 Eyewitness News today's

big story federal agents flooding Eagle passes nearly 2,000 migrants arrived to

the border town of Piedras Negras right next door it comes on the same day as

president Trump's second State of the Union address tiffany Huertas has been

in Eagle Pass all day long she joins us now live from more with more Tiffany

Ursula tonight law enforcement is all over Eagle Pass just take a look behind

me this is right next to the port of entry you can see Border Patrol DPS and

local law enforcement no clear answer tonight what will happen to the migrant

Caravan waiting next door there is petroleum going on at all times through

through the area so it's just a little heavier today then

the mayor of Eagle Pass Ramsey canto took us around this golf course along

the Rio Grande where law enforcement has taken over the city of Piedras Negras is

just a few feet away but in order to enter the country legally you must pass

through one of the ports of entry which is tightly secured with CBP officers the

port of entry can process anywhere between 12 to 15 cases per day can do

says there is no telling how long it will be until those 18 hundred people

who are seeking asylum are processed you know what has been assured to us by

our federal agencies is if the individuals are granted asylum they of

course are transported out of Eagle Pass they are not so they do not stay here in

this community so there is a process for them to be transported to a detention

center do you know I mean as you you can see it's not something that ultimately

is going to make a difference he wants a comprehensive immigration reform and a

more comprehensive way of assuring that our ports of entries which is where the

largest percentage of you know whether it be drugs whether it be situations of

illegals that are crossing day to day on on a daily basis through our to our

ports Eagle Pass resident Charles Akbar says a wall is not the answer either our

board of law is not gonna help is this is something that they've been

fighting with for decades now and it's not going to change this because you

could have a wall this is the common scene exercises like this are being

conducted at the port of entries here along the border tonight we spoke with

the Guatemalan consul in Del Rio who tells us in that migrant caravan about

200 people are from Guatemala and they're staying tonight in pia designate

us reporting from Eagle Pass Tiffany what fest case that 12 News just a quick

set up this is the shelter beyond this fence where the two thousand plus

migrants that began a trek from Honduras on January 15th have ended up we are on

the border with Texas just a couple of miles up to the Rio Grande River across

from that Eagle Pass Texas but this police force the show of force that

you're seeing behind me is a bit of a containment law enforcement selling us

trying to keep the migrants who may realize now that they've gotten to their

final destination and they're being kept inside for security purposes law

enforcement says their own along with the communities and the lawyer the the

mayor here says it's to also keep them from going freely across the Rio Grande

because it is a very porous River without a lot of wall or fencing along

that area and they're concerned about that another factor bill that plays into

what we're seeing in terms of security is that the governor of this Mexican

state while we love his name is Miguel Riquelme he told me in an interview last

night in Spanish that his intention is to go through the 2000 migrants that you

see inside this fence on the other side here is to see those that did not

register for the year-long temporary asylum but have come here illegally into

Mexico will be taken into custody and deported

possibly as soon as today he said immediately listen to this sound by

please government we are seen if tomorrow the immigration Institute can

come and work through all the papers and those done that don't have the right to

be here to return immediately them to their place of

so the folks you're seeing here really just waking up in the last hour getting

fed because the community giving them shelter food and necessities like health

care but many of them learning that they could be possibly on the short list for

deportation the police force out here keeping security kitchens are rising a

little bit here bill Grif watch it for us thanks Mexican side of the border

gripped Jenkins in the border battle tonight a caravan of 1600 Central

American migrants just arriving at a Mexican border city ran outside of Texas

the group described as asylum seekers homeland security saying tonight this

lawless caravan as they put it would not be allowed in

president Trump often calming the situation at the border a crisis and

immigration becoming a big talking point at tonight's State of the Union so what

are the numbers really show who's really crossing illegally into Arizona ABC 15

investigators so did wasps who went to Yuma to find out Border Patrol agents we

spoke to say they've caught just over 78,000 people who've crossed into

Arizona illegally since January 2018 these illegal immigrants have been

climbing and jumping off the border wall they've been digging holes under the

fence and crawling into the United States agents tell me the vast majority

of those people are families and recently there has been a 20 percent

spike in unaccompanied minors but agents say sometimes they do catch convicted

criminals among the crowds that individual could be a sex offender could

be a murderer that includes 64 sex offenders mostly convicted child

molesters and some rapists caught in 2018 all these sex offenders were

previously removed from the u.s. after their convictions agents say they're

trying to sneak back in illegally that's not someone we want in our country no

ma'am those aren't the only criminals agents

here in Arizona are catching the numbers include 14 people accused of murder

attempted murder and manslaughter then there's the gang members we counted

at least 29 crossing into Arizona since the beginning of 2018 majority of them

claiming to be or having tattoos linked to ms-13 ms-13 is one of the most

heinous gangs that is in America right now

drugs are by far the biggest problem at the border 450

drug smugglers arrested by agents in Arizona in the last 13 months from a

child as young as 12 with meth strapped onto her body to an elderly man who was

79 but in a twist you might not expect we noted that most of the drug dealers

Border Patrol agents are stopping are actually US citizens not illegal

immigrants I don't think that they understand how well and how trained our

agents are Border Patrol agents charged with the job of making these arrests say

while the numbers are just a fraction of the people seeking a better life every

one of these arrests is significant what I tell people is it only takes one it

only takes one for us to lose our lives it only takes one to have a family

member to lose one of their most wanted people ages tell me the actual number of

criminals they're catching could be higher than what we've reported there

about a month behind on their count because of the government shutdown so

Numazu ABC 15 Arizona 1700 Central American migrants arrived at the Mexican

border city of Piedras Negras on its way to the US the governor of Mexico's

Quayle estate says the migrants arrived on 49 buses late Sunday and are still

waiting to enter through Eagle Pass but the US Department of Homeland Security

says those with a caravan will not be allowed in Border Patrol agents are on

the bridge connecting Mexico and the u.s. they have riot gear and shields in

case they're needed a shelter has been set up for the migrants at an onions

factory on the Mexican side Mexican officials say the group includes 46

unaccompanied minors between the ages of 15 and 17 right now nearly 1700 Central

American migrants are in the Mexican border city of PMS Negros across from

Eagle Pass an improvised shelter is set up for the migrants at an unused Mackay

Nevada factory the co real estate governor says they arrive Sunday on 49

buses Channel Five's kristen bond pricing and

angela vargas are on their way to Eagle Pass they join us from the road Angela

where you all at right now

well as you know Oscar we are 5 the valley is 5 hours away from Eagle Pass

right now we are in freer Texas which is just the halfway point we're about two

and a half hours away as you can see Christian is driving right now and we

are away right now but the road is pretty clear is not much taking place

I'm gonna actually show you what the road looks like right here right now if

you guys can see that if it doesn't shake here a little bit this is all hand

held right now but we're on our way to Eagle Pass right now and what we do

see out here what we have been doing on our way there is calling different

agencies Customs and Border Protection the city of Eagle Pass as well as the

Maverick County Sheriff's Office now we did speak with the Maverick County

Sheriff Tom server about what has taken place there he says that his deputies

are on standby as well as other counties around standby to help them out in case

of this caravan I'm coming up right now good he told us he actually visited the

people that are staying at that shelter and Piedras Negras dress across from the

border that he says there's about 100 108 1800 people that are there mostly

from Honduras they said they have other destinations

that are planned out like they want to go to Minnesota and to Arizona that's

one of the destinations they want to go to but right now we are still on our way

over there we did call some other people we know other people are on their way to

Eagle Pass as well some people that are focusing on humanitarian efforts and

we're gonna get more information as it becomes available to you on our journey

here and more information as we get there show

you the atmosphere what it's like there and what agencies are doing as far as

the caravan coming through so reporting on our way to Eagle Pass Christian bomb

pricing is right here in the driver's seat and we'll be taking turns on our

way there Angela Vargas Channel five News at six Channel five News reached

out to DPS lieutenant Johnny Adnan this he tells us Border Patrol will be taking

the lead in Eagle Pass the Pentagon is sending more than 3,000 additional

active duty US soldiers to the southern border they will be installing wire

between ports of entry and providing support to Customs and Border Protection

the move comes as the president continues to threaten a national

emergency to get his border wall President Trump says he'll make a

decision soon on whether to declare an emergency

having dangerous criminals off the streets the Border Patrol agents in Casa

Grande busting a convicted sex offender and an ms-13 gang member the agency

posting this tweet announcing the arrests and separate incidents near that

Pinal County City both men have been on the radar of authorities before and

neither of them call the u.s. home listen to this an ms-13 gang member is

under arrest this morning accused of murdering a man on a New York City

subway platform cut him right in the face another times all caught on camera

in broad daylight police say it started as a fight between rival gang members

kyla Mameluke from our affiliate new york is live outside the subway station

in Queens with more Kaylin

right Steven Ainsley good morning yeah the NYPD believe

this morning and all outside for those two other suspects they believe were

also involved in this violent attack all three of these men police believe are

ms-13 gang members now a gang brawl like you mentioned is what police believe

sparked this violent attack on the seven train it spilled out onto the platform

right here in Jackson Heights Queens there was a struggle for a gun

eventually police say five to six shots rang out killing 20 year olds Abel mo so

Abel mo so is a known member of the 18th Street gang which is a rival gang of

ms-13 of the man in custody this morning Ramiro Gutierrez is a known member of

ms-13 he was actually out on bail at the time of this attack he was being accused

of plotting a burglary in Kew Gardens which isn't too far from here he was

also accused of plotting to beat two men with metal pipes that speaks to a much

bigger issue here in Queens late as of late in the recent months

we've been seeing more and more ms-13 and a lot of gang activity here in

Queens the Chief of Detectives Dermot che telling us they've been seeing a big

rise in ms-13 here they say that specifically here in

Jackson Heights and Queens where this attack this wouldn't have happened in

just in a few months ago as of recently we saw ms-13 in Suffolk County on Long

Island which is about 60 miles east of where we are right now so that's

certainly been coming in to the community that is the very latest here

in Jackson Heights Queens I'll send it back over to you guys

fatal something shooting in Queens a suspect is in custody this morning a

fight leading to Sunday's shooting in Jackson Heights was caught on video

police say they've arrested the accused gunman Ramiro Gutierrez and allege ms-13

gang member the victim Abel Musa was pronounced dead at the scene now police

are searching for two men wanted for questioning in the attack at the 90th

Street Elmhurst Avenue Station

the last of three gang members from ms-13 put guilty Friday to using

Facebook to lure victim to Maryland where he was drowned and then stabbed

repeatedly with a machete court papers show that back in October when Arnold

granados Vasquez Narus Moreno Martinez and Jose Melendez

Riviera kidnapped and murdered hortie Mejia whom they believed to be a member

of a rival gang Melendez Rivera faces up to life in prison the other two

defendants are also facing prison time

3,700 more US troops are heading to the border the Pentagon announced today

those troops will help put up 150 miles of concertina wire meantime materials to

build a levee border wall will ship south as soon as Monday our border

reporter Oscar Morgan explains the wall project coming to the Rio Grande Valley

in this border brief border wall construction

heavy materials for a border wall will soon be arriving to the texas-mexico

border according to a recent announcement by Customs and Border

Protection CBP awarded two contracts with Galveston based company SLS in late

2018 for a combined 312 million dollars to build a total of 14 miles of levee

wall in Otago County the money for this project was appropriated by Congress

last fiscal year the levee wall is expected to resemble the existing wall

in the area which is topped with 18 feet tall steel bollard

in a news release CBP said the equipment will be utilized for construction on

federally owned land they added that the project is on schedule to begin

construction this month that's your mor debrief I'm Oscar Morgan

reporting well Border Patrol agents rescued two men who were trying to enter

the US illegally from Guatemala it happened on Saturday in hebbronville

just after midnight one of the two men called 9-1-1 after getting lost in the

brush agents took both men to a Laredo hospital to be treated for dehydration

before taking them in for processing

jo21 savage whose real name is sha Yu bin Abraham Joseph was arrested in

Atlanta hours before the Superbowl Sunday

according to the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency the rapper

was actually born in Britain and has been living in the US without

documentation since his visa expired more than a decade ago I called it a

targeted operation and says the 26 year old is also a convicted felon he is now

facing deportation the agency says 21 Savage is known as a hometown hero in

Atlanta performing around the city and donating school supplies and uniforms to

local kids he's teamed up with post Malone and cardi B and earned two Grammy

nominations

his lawyer says he is a role model to young people in Atlanta and across the

country and they are working to get him out of detention as soon as possible

yes immigration officials arrested rapper 21 Savage in Atlanta this morning

his real name is Shea abhiyan Abraham Joseph

officials say the British citizen entered the US illegally in 2005 but did

not leave the US when his visa expired in 2006 he was convicted on felony drug

charges in 2014 deportation proceedings are underway

Abraham Joseph has nominated for two awards at next week's Grammy Awards he

is up for two Grammy Awards but instead of preparing for his moment in the

spotlight rapper 21 savage is in custody after he was detained by ice the arrests

coming s is surprised to many since the rapper has long claimed Atlanta as his

home but ice claims he is a UK national with an expired visa

and in 2014 was arrested on drug charges Alvin Lopez walks us through how this

all that up to his arrest over the weekend

yeah Jeff that 2014 arrest stemming from a traffic stop in Old Fourth Ward in

front seat of that car now people on our Facebook page are wondering if his visa

had already expired at that point why wasn't he detained by ice right then and

there and here's what caught my attention now take a look at the

incident report it shows when one of the officers asked the rapper for his ID

he said he quote did not have it according to the report instead he just

gave the officer his name and date of birth the report indicates officers

asked both him and the driver to step out of the car searched it and found a

mason jar with 22.6 grams of marijuana two loaded guns and a bottle with 89

pills of hydrocodone 21 Savage was then taken to jail on criminal charges

you know I says the rapper was convicted in that case and we asked for a copy of

those court records but the Fulton County District Attorney's Office says

the case is now sealed so we can't independently confirm whether there was

a conviction or not now we also asked why the drug arrest

wasn't on Isis radar until now officials say they didn't realize his immigration

status and so after his but coming up at six we'll tell you why

the rapper's attorney says that's not the case all right Elwin a lot of people

following this one really closely thank you

Atlanta B grammy-nominated rapper twenty one savage was arrested in Atlanta early

Sunday by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement aka ice I was not expecting

that apparently Savage is a citizen of the

United Kingdom not the ATL as he had us all believed now the agency alleges that

he entered the US legally in July 2005 but his visa expired in July 2006 so I

guess he had one two three four five six seven eight pounds in his bank account

his shoot is in redhead Muscat rapper 21 Savage has had yet another run-in with

the law ice agents took the atlanta-based rapper

into custody yesterday and now he faces potential deportation from the United

States customs agents say 21 savage was born in the UK and was brought to

America as a teenager but overstayed his visa the rapper previously claims he was

born in Atlanta for British media outlets say his birth certificate says

he was born in a borough of London rapper 21 Savage was supposed to perform

in Gainesville at the end of the month but an arrest by ice may be putting the

ice on those plants w UF T's Cristina Schuler joins us now after speaking with

those who bought tickets and one of the organizations behind the concert those

who bought tickets tell me they were stunned and confused when they saw the

headlines the issue now at hand is that no one is that no one C no one seems

what comes next organizations were unable to give me

clear answers but one thing is for clear those who bought tickets want answers

they don't just detain people who did sane people grammy-nominated rapper 21

savage is in custody over claims of being in the u.s. without a valid visa

the rapper whose birth name is Shia bin Abraham Joseph was scheduled to perform

at the University of Florida on February 27th but now the question remains will

those who bought tickets get to see him at all yes I'll be disappointed I would

be definitely disappointed UF's Black Student Union and student government

worked together to make this concert possible

now BSU's assistant secretary says they're working together to address the

situation being a part of this decision can feel like a lot but we are

well-equipped so you know handle these situations and come out with the best

decision the performer was set to highlight Black History Month but now

possibly faces deportation originally it was believed he was from Atlanta though

new reports say otherwise disappointing fans and those from Georgia I was

thinking like I did reach out to UF student government as well

representatives for the rap artist so far no one has returned my calls it's

unclear if refunds will be issued or if 21 Savage will still come to Gainesville

at all I think you can ask any Border Patrol agent here that has been around

from one year to 30 years as myself and they'll tell you that this is a crisis

this is part of the ongoing border security and humanitarian crisis that we

have currently along our southern border it's an ongoing crisis we've been

dealing with it for decades it's an unstable situation that impacts Public

Safety and this is the worst crisis that I've seen you actually will use that

word crisis yes the asinine idea that these politicians spout out that our

borders here there's not a crisis here it's absolutely insulting to the people

to actually live down here we have to get the word out that we have a crisis

down here

now this Fox News Alert on a big announcement the Pentagon sending nearly

four thousand more US troops to the southern border to try to ramp up

security as thousands of Central American migrants are less than 300

miles from the Texas border Grif Jenkins is traveling with that group he joins us

live from Saltillo Mexico so Grif what are you seeing on the ground who is

helping these migrants get to the border you know John it's the Mexican state

governments in this case while wila is helping them behind me is literally the

gate where the nearly 2,000 maybe more than 2,000 migrants that began their

journey on January 15th in San Pedro Sula Honduras are making the final last

leg these officials these police officers and community workers putting

them on dozens of buses we were told there were 50 buses driving them that

final 300 miles to Piedras Negras which is the city immediately across the US

border from Eagle Pass Texas Border Patrol obviously is aware of it they say

they're making preparations but many of these migrants have told us their

intention is to cross illegally one of them that told us about his flight was

Antonio here's what he had to say Wednesday getting in the States

my idea is well my place were hired for five years in there and make my family

feel better actually looking for better things for my family

now when they get to Piedras Negras it's anybody's guess what will happen but

they're on their way they should be there by the end of today John so what

happens next what happens when they get to the border well in Piedras Negras

they've got facilities set up and they will get federal government support you

know this new Mexican President Lopez Obrador has been very Pro emigrant he

had the fast-track work visa they capped it it became too full at 12,600 but

these migrants will get federal resources on the border town of Peterson

ingress the Mexican officials here the Secretary to the state of whoa Allah

says his hope is that the u.s. will process asylum claims much faster John

roof Jenkins traveling with that migrant caravan in Mexico Thank You the Pentagon

sending more than 3700 troops to the border they're tasked with addressing

another 150 miles of concertina wire their troops will also provide other

support for a Customs and Border Protection including mobile surveillance

according to the military times this brings the total number of active duty

troops on the border to 4350 welcome back the Pentagon is deploying an

additional 3700 troops to the us-mexico border this comes on the heels of

another possible government shutdown stemming from the president Trump's

demand for 5.7 billion dollars for a border wall this mission will support

border patrol with mobile surveillance news for two sons Janelle Kahn Fair is

live from Nogales and has the latest update Danelle while priscilla troops

will install about a hundred and fifty miles of barbed wire throughout the

fencing between each port of entry now the Defense Department says the

additions will bring the total number of active duty forces on the border to

about 4400 troops the additional personnel will be deployed for 90 days

there's no word yet on how many of them will be in Arizona we talked with the

Nogales mayor and got his reaction on increased barbed wire and more troops

the troops I don't have any concern the wires make us feel okay because we have

a wall right and I don't care how much money they

invest in the the Congress and the president and and both houses in

Washington know Gauss is not going to get any of that money because we have a

long we've had it for 20 30 years my concern now is that concertina wire

we're trying to build a business for any community the mayor went on to say that

he will draft a letter hoping to change government's mind in the Trump

administration also coming up at 4:00 we talked with someone who's Pro wall and

get their opinion on the barbed wire reporting live from Nogales City Hall's

uno con fair news for Tucson president Trump's comments on immigrations comes

as a large number of federal state and local law enforcement officers patrol

the border of Eagle Pass that's because a caravan of caravan of Central

Americans currently in the Mexican border city of Piedras Negras the nine

teams tiffany Huertas joins us live with the reaction from president Trump's push

for that wall Tiffany Steve EC's tonight residents here in Eagle Pass have strong

feelings about President Donald Trump's a vision and border approach but first I

want to show you what the scene looks like here on the border tonight you can

see those lights that's law enforcement different agencies are here along the

border in Eagle Pass now during his speech President Trump mentioned the

arrival of migrants to border cities Piedras Negras the area of the border

opposite to Eagle Pass is one of those many of the migrants traveled on bus

provided by Mexico people who live in Eagle Pass had strong thoughts about

border security and the current situation Mexico right now it's kind of

tough they've had their problems the wall we needed I believe in Trump and

whatever he said we need have I'm behind him yes you don't like to to be honest

II know there's other people so people see it it is a solution I

don't really see it but because you know there's always ways around it I'm there

over it or just goats in their case as we've purported many Central Americans

are leaving their country because of the violence and poverty and seeking asylum

now the ports of entry remain open tonight and from our contacts in Piedras

Negras the migrant caravan remains at the temporary shelter over there Steve

ECEs back to you a tragedy on the water now nearly 30 Haitians are killed when

their boat sank in the Caribbean the US Embassy in Haiti says this was a human

trafficking operation local 10 News reported well Corneille is live in

little haiti with the latest Drought and people here in Miami's Little Haiti

neighborhood have been on the phone some of them at least trying to figure out

the identities of the people involved meanwhile also here a Catholic Church

holding a special service in honor of those victims a special prayer tonight

in the heart of Little Haiti for the 28 lives lost at sea life in Haiti is not

easy father Yuri Jules and leading the Sunday night

service at notre-dame de Haiti Catholic Church where parishioners here have a

growing worry over the yet to be revealed names of those found in the

water my family which part of Haiti that ill-fated boat departed from is crucial

we know on Saturday the vessel filled with Haitians sinks several miles off

the coast of the Bahamas more than a dozen survivors were plucked from the

water by rescuers and taken back to dry land but then more bodies started to

wash ashore and by late today 28 people were found dead presumably after

drowning at sea we used to say looking for life lose life they were looking for

life in bed Ella pastor Jewell says life in Haiti has gone from bad to worse

recently because the value of the country's currency has dropped sharply

putting essential staples like rice out of reach for many Haitians

unfortunately for Haiti for my Asian brothers and sisters we pray that in the

future the situation of Haitian may be change the reality of the 17 survivors

of that fil journey means they'll likely be sent back to Haiti each now being

detained by the Bahamian government and today the US Embassy in Haiti tweeting

out a message saying that no journey is worth risking lives over urging people

to not complete these dangerous missions that often end in tragedy we also know

tonight that the search and rescue mission is continuing off the coast of

the Bahamas just in case that there are more victims out there reporting live

from Miami's Little Haiti neighborhood I'm to Rockland a local 10 News tragedy

at sea a boat carrying dozens of Haitian migrants sinking near the Bahamas a

prayer service held tonight in Miami's Little Haiti neighborhood and CBS 4s

amber Diaz is there live amber good evening to you both yes in church

members tell me one of their biggest fears that they have tonight is that

some of their relatives may have been on that boat that sunk on coastal waters

just before dawn on Saturday many of them wanting to come to the United

States for a better life these men were rescued Saturday from the waters off the

coast of the Bahamas and taken into police custody

a total of 17 survived while 28 others died authorities say they were traveling

in a boat from Haiti when it began to sink people who live on Abaco island

called authorities after finding some of them floating in the ocean they were

looking for life a better life the devastating event brought over a

hundred people through the doors of the notre-dame de Haiti Catholic Church for

an evening ceremony

many broken-down but lifted up in prayer we pray that individual distribution

operation may be chance and so far this year the Royal Bahamas Defense Force has

arrested at least 300 people for trying to get here into the United States in

Little Haiti amber di cbs4 news tonight heavy

machinery including a hydraulic excavator and workers arriving at Benson

State Park this is video we captured this morning showing a bulldozer atop

the levee where the proposed border wall is expected to be built on Friday CBP

sent out a press release announcing the arrival of the heavy machinery as early

as today the release also states the equipment will be used on the

construction for the wall on federally owned land together we can break decades

of political stalemate the president offering unity in his State of the Union

speech but he drew a hard line on border security tonight our tennis reporter

Anthony Perez here and Anthony the president arguably faced a very tough

national crowd tonight that's right the speech delivered after the longest

government shutdown in history so the expert I spoke with says the president

took a more conciliatory tone but still stayed on message President Trump spoke

not only to a divided chamber but a divided country really America is

divided in a lot of different ways we watched the State of the Union

address with 10 News political analyst Wendy Patrick this is an opportunity for

him to talk about a lot of issues that unite us victory is not winning for our

party victory is winning for our country the president started off the night with

that tone of unity but eventually focused on one of the most polarizing

issues of his presidency now is the time for Congress to show the world that

America is committed to ending illegal immigration and doubled down on his

promise to build a wall San Diego used to have the most illegal border

crossings in our country in response a strong

security wall was put in place this powerful barrier almost completely ended

illegal crossings simply put walls work and walls save lives the president

cannot deliver a State of the Union speech that does not at least in some

significant portion play to his face he has to hit the tough issues that got him

elected in the first place trying to fund the wall was what led to a 35 days

shutdown stalemate with Congress Stacey Abrams gave the formal response to the

president's address she made sure to remind the country of the possibility of

another shutdown making livelihoods of our federal

workers upon for political games is a disgrace the shutdown was a stunt

engineered by the President of the United States if you're living in San

Diego and you're recently coming off the government shutdown having been a

furloughed employee you are looking for some encouragement that he will not ever

do that again they didn't get that from the president tonight but Patrick thinks

that has more to do with the president never wanting to show his cards and

February 15th is the day we're all watching now Congress needs to reach a

deal by then or we could be dealing with another shutdown guys well as president

Trump pushed for a border wall tonight Border Patrol agents are on high alert a

new migrant caravan has just arrived at the Texas border about two thousand

migrants have reached Piedras Negras just across from Eagle Pass

that's where Eyewitness News reporter jaleesa irizarry joins us tonight

the Sun is setting on day one of the Border Patrol's response to the caravan

and what we've seen is an increase in law enforcement we're actually just a

few feet away from the Mexican border this is the real Grande right here

Border Patrol officers were out here all day today

on boat patrolling the area and the bridge right behind me that connects

Mexico to the US border officers were out there as well preparing for anything

officers in riot gear spent the afternoon on the bridge that connects

Mexico in the u.s. performing drills a caravan of 2,000 migrants arrived in the

bordering Mexican town of via thousand dead gas on Monday the migrants are

expected to seek political asylum in the United States through Eagle Pass a

border town that often only sees about a couple dozen asylum seekers a day so if

we're looking at 1800 people that are seeking political asylum we're talking

about six months of work a lot of time and technology that mayor Ramsey English

gone through says they don't have con to says it's not a wall that they need here

in Eagle Pass its funding to get better technology for their port of entries

there has been you know drugs or illegals that have crossed through the

ports of entry this is not a situation where we're seeing mass invasion of

daily people that are crossing on the riverbanks on into US soil we don't know

if when or how the caravan will attempt to make its way to the US border but

customs Border Patrol and DPS state troopers are preparing for anything

reporting in Eagle Pass I'm jaleesa irizarry well we were here just a few

months ago when troops were installing those first coils of concertina wire

right on top of portions of the border wall but take a look now it looks a

whole lot different than it did just a few months ago you can see those coils

of wire from top to bottom really on this section of the one person

perspective we're not too far from the deccan simi port of entry now this

change it's something that no Valles mayor Arturo Garino says that he is

completely against now just yesterday he told us that he met with some of his

staff he said that they talked about sending drafted letters to different US

congressmen and Congresswomen as well as the state governor and really anybody

who they can get in contact with about how big their

CERN is over this added wire concertina wire is not as safe it's a lethal wire

it's not barbed wire and but it was on top of the fence and you probably live

with it now the mayor also added that this wire is impacting the people who

live here in Nogales as well he says that they're afraid of the perception

that other people will have of their city they're also afraid of the impact

it could have on businesses here now we also did reach out to US Customs and

Border Protection we did get a statement from a spokesperson with them that said

in part quote CBP continues to monitor the situation regarding several caravans

migrating from Central America toward the US border we continually assess the

capabilities of our facilities throughout the southwest border and have

been making and will continue to make necessary preparations these do include

participating in operational readiness exercises as well as the mobilization of

resources as needed to ensure the facilitation of lawful trade and travel

now that same CBP spokesperson that we talked to you said that when troops

first got here just a few months ago and started putting up some of that wire it

was always in their plan to add more it just so happened that it took them a

little bit longer for now reporting live in Nogales Veronica Costa Hagan 9 on

your side police say he promised to help people become US citizens turned out he

was a fraud a man arrested accused of operating without a license while taking

thousands from Central Florida immigrants new 6 reporter James barbero

joins us with details from Brevard County police the FDLE and homeland

security alleging 36 year old John Eustace is a fake immigration attorney

preying on migrants he told he could help become US citizens for somebody to

take advantage of them that's very disheartening police say a Rockledge

client came forward in August concern Eustace might not be operating

legitimately at this office on cogswell Street a neighboring business says the

service is advertised here have changed multiple times from immigration help to

a learning driving school just a couple of weeks ago came up tax preparation

police say Eustace also at office in Orlando and here on Lipscomb Street

in Palm Bay where he was arrested at this location a woman who says she's

another of Eustis victims claims he took $4,000 from her and never provided

service the song really saw Calvin Mack on the other hand says he went to use

this to do his taxes and he did get what he paid for he's disappointed to learn

how police say Eustace was conducting business with other clients people for

helping that do you like that take advantage of you investigators with a

warning for anyone hiring an immigration attorney definitely do the research and

their homework to try to figure out who they're working with

yeah be we're saying people did everywhere that's a fact in Brevard

County I'm James spar Varo getting results new six well the federal

government is also taking the lead with a wall in the Rio Grande Valley if

you're at home a grand henna woman says she doesn't worry too much about

migrants or caravans who cross into the u.s.

she says living near the border fence hasn't changed much in her life Channel

Five's Frank McCaffrey reached out to Customs and Border Protection to see one

defense behind her home is going to be expanded the 76 year old was born and

raised in granja now she tells us she's watched people crossed the border her

whole life she's never felt she was in danger Aurora Garcia tells us ten years

ago crews installed a fence right in her backyard it's property her father owned

and handed down to her I live about 80 feet from the border fence I've measured

it she says she's noticed that this border fence has been a slight deterrent

for immigrants crossing into the u.s. however she's also noticed that they

find there's always ways around it I imagine it deters some but it ends half

a mile from here so all you have to do is go around it if you want to

we've seen ladders in the proximity she still sees illegal immigrants on a

regular basis she does not know what expansion plans are for the wall and

ground hey no nor does she care much she doesn't worry about the people who cross

it's my aging-in-place home if you will so no if I felt in any way in danger I

would not be living here we reached out to customs and border protection

headquarters in Washington DC a spokesperson for the group Carlos Diaz

says he cannot comment on the expansion project for the wall in grande know at

this time Garcia says her only concern is that the wall expansion does not harm

the environment at her aging-in-place home in the Channel five News studio

Frank McCaffrey Channel five News at six

the trial against a pilot accused of smuggling people into the country is

expected to get underway today jury selection in the case against Louis

Luton was supposed to start last month that's now expected to happen today

homeland security investigators say they caught Luton with four Central Americans

at the Mid Valley Airport in November authorities say he was on his way to

Houston this spring is the first time all daca students are paying higher

college tuition here in Arizona 9 on your side's ivan Rodriguez examines the

impact on the students and pima community college 16 states offer

in-state tuition to emigrants protected by the deferred action for childhood

arrivals program or daca by state legislative action Arizona on the other

hand is one of six states that does not give dock of students in-state tuition

so one of the things that made the situation uncertain is there was no

clear rule across the US right different states and different colleges and

universities made their own decisions based upon federal law and their own

states law jeff Silva and his general counsel - pima Community College he says

this spring is the first semester all daca students are paying out-of-state

tuition since the college began offering in-state tuition in 2013 believe it was

the summer of 2013 the state attorney general's office filed suit against

Maricopa Community College seeking a determination

from the court what is the correct interpretation of the law in 2014 at the

trial court level in Maricopa that Judge sides with Maricopa Community College

Sylvan says Pima and Maricopa continued offering in-state tuition after that

ruling until it was reversed by the Court of Appeals and set in stone by the

Arizona Supreme Court PCC says this decision is the reason last daca

students are enrolling in their college they say two years ago there were 170

students this spring 88 and the difference in tuition rates so at Pima

College right now it's 82 dollars and 50 cents per credit hour that's the

resident tuition rate but the non-resident tuition rate is three

hundred and three dollars per credit hour starts more than three times the

cost if you're not a resident Sylvan says the state Supreme Court left open

the possibility of the state legislature amending the law the only other option

for change in Arizona would be through Congress or a federal court decision

ivan Rodriguez Kagan 9 on your side was struck by a vehicle while assisting DPS

during a traffic stop and tonight special report Ariana Guzman shows us

how u.s. Border Patrol chaplains help agents cope with trauma after witnessing

devastating events like this one was a 16 year u.s. Border Patrol veteran on

Saturday her life was taken away by a driver who failed to obey the Texas move

over or slow down law this is only one of many things

agents witnessed every day while on duty

he took a fall and ended up separating his shoulder so that agent has been sent

to the hospital to get medical medically evaluated and treated so agents have

been punched kicked you know sometimes a struggle actually ensues during the

attempted apprehension so it can become a very dangerous situation because the

majority of the time unfortunately the agents are outnumbered Danny Martinez is

a u.s. Border Patrol agent and chaplain his job is to secure the border while

helping other agents spiritually we're always seeing people are stressing out

especially with this past furlough there's a lot of anxiety stress out

financially so we're there to provide that support not only to the agents but

to their family members as well or agents trying to work we do a lot of

shift work and chef works affects each and every one of us differently

according to the International Association of Chief of Police there are

more suicide cases from law enforcement agents including Border Patrol than

debts on duty experts say depression and

post-traumatic stress disorders are leading factors to suicide from family

death to relationship problems Martinez says he's here to assist agents

struggling with mental health we're back up for our coworkers are Border Patrol

agents or they're in case something happens to them

we don't solicit they reach out to us and we could help them out spiritually

where we're the ones who point or were the ones who direct them to where they

they need to go they need assistance a clinician we refer them to EAP and EAP

can set him up for the psychologists precondition Martinez adds agents are

still fully capable of doing their job while seeking emotional support unless

otherwise stated by a psychologist but we're notified to go and reach out to

such agent he could be in the hospital we go and we offer our support spiritual

if they want prayer prayer or just simply the Ministry of presence just

being there for the brother makes a major difference and we also reach out

to the wives family members who ever need assistance where the

for chaplains seeing their team back on their feet is top priority the most

rewarding part of our job is seeing that agent being able to function back to

normal levels the way he was before he went through something traumatic the

hardest part is when you see them struggling knowing that you're there for

them but it's just gonna take time for them to you in Edinburgh I'm Jonah

Guzman local 23 News chaplains must be ordained ministers or get certified

training every year with quarterly training on stress anxiety and trauma

Canada Gets 2019 Mercedes A-Class Hatch, The U.S. Does Not - Duration: 2:46.

Fans of premium compact hatchbacks aren't exactly spoiled for choice in the United States, their only options being the Audi A3 Sportback e-tron, Mini Clubman, and Infiniti QX30

In this context, it can be frustrating to see that Canada is getting the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class hatchback while the United States is not

So yes, Canadian buyers have been able to order themselves a brand new 2019 A-Class hatchback since November 2018

Now, MBPassionBlog reports the model has arrived at Mercedes' Canadian dealers in two configurations — the A250 and A250 4Matic

Trump uses State of the Union to call for bipartisan unity - Duration: 53:20.

Madam Speaker, Mr.Vice President, Members of Congress, the First Lady of the United States, and my fellow Americans: We meet tonight at a moment of unlimited potential

As we begin a new Congress, I stand here ready to work with you to achieve historic breakthroughs for all Americans

Millions of our fellow citizens are watching us now, gathered in this great chamber, hoping that we will govern not as two parties but as one Nation

The agenda I will lay out this evening is not a Republican agenda or a Democrat agenda

It is the agenda of the American people. Many of us campaigned on the same core promises: to defend American jobs and demand fair trade for American workers; to rebuild and revitalize our Nation's infrastructure; to reduce the price of healthcare and prescription drugs; to create an immigration system that is safe, lawful, modern and secure; and to pursue a foreign policy that puts America's interests first

There is a new opportunity in American politics, if only we have the courage to seize it

Victory is not winning for our party.Victory is winning for our country. This year, America will recognize two important anniversaries that show us the majesty of America's mission, and the power of American pride

In June, we mark 75 years since the start of what General Dwight D.Eisenhower called the Great Crusade - the Allied liberation of Europe in World War II

On D-Day, June 6, 1944, 15,000 young American men jumped from the sky, and 60,000 more stormed in from the sea, to save our civilization from tyranny

Here with us tonight are three of those heroes: Private First Class Joseph Reilly, Staff Sergeant Irving Locker, and Sergeant Herman Zeitchik

Gentlemen, we salute you.In 2019, we also celebrate 50 years since brave young pilots flew a quarter of a million miles through space to plant the American flag on the face of the moon

Half a century later, we are joined by one of the Apollo 11 astronauts who planted that flag: Buzz Aldrin

This year, American astronauts will go back to space on American rockets. In the 20th century, America saved freedom, transformed science, and redefined the middle class standard of living for the entire world to see

Now, we must step boldly and bravely into the next chapter of this great American adventure, and we must create a new standard of living for the 21st century

An amazing quality of life for all of our citizens is within our reach. We can make our communities safer, our families stronger, our culture richer, our faith deeper, and our middle class bigger and more prosperous than ever before

But we must reject the politics of revenge, resistance, and retribution - and embrace the boundless potential of cooperation, compromise, and the common good

Together, we can break decades of political stalemate. We can bridge old divisions, heal old wounds, build new coalitions, forge new solutions, and unlock the extraordinary promise of America's future

The decision is ours to make.We must choose between greatness or gridlock, results or resistance, vision or vengeance, incredible progress or pointless destruction

Tonight, I ask you to choose greatness.Over the last 2 years, my Administration has moved with urgency and historic speed to confront problems neglected by leaders of both parties over many decades

In just over 2 years since the election, we have launched an unprecedented economic boom - a boom that has rarely been seen before

We have created 5.3million new jobs and importantly added 600,000 new manufacturing jobs - something which almost everyone said was impossible to do, but the fact is, we are just getting started

Wages are rising at the fastest pace in decades, and growing for blue collar workers, who I promised to fight for, faster than anyone else

Nearly 5 million Americans have been lifted off food stamps. The United States economy is growing almost twice as fast today as when I took office, and we are considered far and away the hottest economy anywhere in the world

Unemployment has reached the lowest rate in half a century.African-American, Hispanic-American and Asian-American unemployment have all reached their lowest levels ever recorded

Unemployment for Americans with disabilities has also reached an all-time low.More people are working now than at any time in our history - 157 million

We passed a massive tax cut for working families and doubled the child tax credit

We virtually ended the estate, or death, tax on small businesses, ranches, and family farms

We eliminated the very unpopular Obamacare individual mandate penalty - and to give critically ill patients access to life-saving cures, we passed right to try

My Administration has cut more regulations in a short time than any other administration during its entire tenure

Companies are coming back to our country in large numbers thanks to historic reductions in taxes and regulations

We have unleashed a revolution in American energy - the United States is now the number one producer of oil and natural gas in the world

And now, for the first time in 65 years, we are a net exporter of energy. After 24 months of rapid progress, our economy is the envy of the world, our military is the most powerful on earth, and America is winning each and every day

Members of Congress: the State of our Union is strong. Our country is vibrant and our economy is thriving like never before

On Friday, it was announced that we added another 304,000 jobs last month alone - almost double what was expected

An economic miracle is taking place in the United States - and the only thing that can stop it are foolish wars, politics, or ridiculous partisan investigations

If there is going to be peace and legislation, there cannot be war and investigation

It just doesn't work that way! We must be united at home to defeat our adversaries abroad

This new era of cooperation can start with finally confirming the more than 300 highly qualified nominees who are still stuck in the Senate – some after years of waiting

The Senate has failed to act on these nominations, which is unfair to the nominees and to our country

Now is the time for bipartisan action.Believe it or not, we have already proven that it is possible

In the last Congress, both parties came together to pass unprecedented legislation to confront the opioid crisis, a sweeping new Farm Bill, historic VA reforms, and after four decades of rejection, we passed VA Accountability so we can finally terminate those who mistreat our wonderful veterans

And just weeks ago, both parties united for groundbreaking criminal justice reform

Last year, I heard through friends the story of Alice Johnson.I was deeply moved. In 1997, Alice was sentenced to life in prison as a first-time non-violent drug offender

Over the next two decades, she became a prison minister, inspiring others to choose a better path

She had a big impact on that prison population - and far beyond.Alice's story underscores the disparities and unfairness that can exist in criminal sentencing  and the need to remedy this injustice

She served almost 22 years and had expected to be in prison for the rest of her life

In June, I commuted Alice's sentence - and she is here with us tonight.Alice, thank you for reminding us that we always have the power to shape our own destiny

When I saw Alice's beautiful family greet her at the prison gates, hugging and kissing and crying and laughing, I knew I did the right thing

Inspired by stories like Alice's, my Administration worked closely with members of both parties to sign the First Step Act into law

This legislation reformed sentencing laws that have wrongly and disproportionately harmed the African-American community

The First Step Act gives non-violent offenders the chance to re-enter society as productive, law-abiding citizens

Now, States across the country are following our lead.America is a Nation that believes in redemption

We are also joined tonight by Matthew Charles from Tennessee. In 1996, at age 30, Matthew was sentenced to 35 years for selling drugs and related offenses

Over the next two decades, he completed more than 30 Bible studies, became a law clerk, and mentored fellow inmates

Now, Matthew is the very first person to be released from prison under the First Step Act

Matthew, on behalf of all Americans: welcome home.As we have seen, when we are united, we can make astonishing strides for our country

Now, Republicans and Democrats must join forces again to confront an urgent national crisis

The Congress has 10 days left to pass a bill that will fund our Government, protect our homeland, and secure our southern border

Now is the time for the Congress to show the world that America is committed to ending illegal immigration and putting the ruthless coyotes, cartels, drug dealers, and human traffickers out of business

As we speak, large, organized caravans are on the march to the United States. We have just heard that Mexican cities, in order to remove the illegal immigrants from their communities, are getting trucks and buses to bring them up to our country in areas where there is little border protection

I have ordered another 3,750 troops to our southern border to prepare for the tremendous onslaught

This is a moral issue. The lawless state of our southern border is a threat to the safety, security, and financial well‑being of all Americans

We have a moral duty to create an immigration system that protects the lives and jobs of our citizens

This includes our obligation to the millions of immigrants living here today, who followed the rules and respected our laws

Legal immigrants enrich our Nation and strengthen our society in countless ways.I want people to come into our country, but they have to come in legally

Tonight, I am asking you to defend our very dangerous southern border out of love and devotion to our fellow citizens and to our country

No issue better illustrates the divide between America's working class and America's political class than illegal immigration

Wealthy politicians and donors push for open borders while living their lives behind walls and gates and guards

Meanwhile, working class Americans are left to pay the price for mass illegal migration - reduced jobs, lower wages, overburdened schools and hospitals, increased crime, and a depleted social safety net

Tolerance for illegal immigration is not compassionate - it is cruel. One in three women is sexually assaulted on the long journey north

Smugglers use migrant children as human pawns to exploit our laws and gain access to our country

Human traffickers and sex traffickers take advantage of the wide open areas between our ports of entry to smuggle thousands of young girls and women into the United States and to sell them into prostitution and modern-day slavery

Tens of thousands of innocent Americans are killed by lethal drugs that cross our border and flood into our cities - including meth, heroin, cocaine, and fentanyl

The savage gang, MS-13, now operates in 20 different American states, and they almost all come through our southern border

Just yesterday, an MS-13 gang member was taken into custody for a fatal shooting on a subway platform in New York City

We are removing these gang members by the thousands, but until we secure our border they're going to keep streaming back in

Year after year, countless Americans are murdered by criminal illegal aliens.I've gotten to know many wonderful Angel Moms, Dads, and families – no one should ever have to suffer the horrible heartache they have endured

Here tonight is Debra Bissell.Just three weeks ago, Debra's parents, Gerald and Sharon, were burglarized and shot to death in their Reno, Nevada, home by an illegal alien

They were in their eighties and are survived by four children, 11 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren

Also here tonight are Gerald and Sharon's granddaughter, Heather, and great‑granddaughter, Madison

To Debra, Heather, Madison, please stand: few can understand your pain. But I will never forget, and I will fight for the memory of Gerald and Sharon, that it should never happen again

Not one more American life should be lost because our Nation failed to control its very dangerous border

In the last 2 years, our brave ICE officers made 266,000 arrests of criminal aliens, including those charged or convicted of nearly 100,000 assaults, 30,000 sex crimes, and 4,000 killings

We are joined tonight by one of those law enforcement heroes: ICE Special Agent Elvin Hernandez

When Elvin was a boy, he and his family legally immigrated to the United States from the Dominican Republic

At the age of eight, Elvin told his dad he wanted to become a Special Agent.Today, he leads investigations into the scourge of international sex trafficking

Elvin says: 'If I can make sure these young girls get their justice, I've done my job

' Thanks to his work and that of his colleagues, more than 300 women and girls have been rescued from horror and more than 1,500 sadistic traffickers have been put behind bars in the last year

Special Agent Hernandez, please stand: We will always support the brave men and women of Law Enforcement - and I pledge to you tonight that we will never abolish our heroes from ICE

My Administration has sent to the Congress a commonsense proposal to end the crisis on our southern border

It includes humanitarian assistance, more law enforcement, drug detection at our ports, closing loopholes that enable child smuggling, and plans for a new physical barrier, or wall, to secure the vast areas between our ports of entry

In the past, most of the people in this room voted for a wall - but the proper wall never got built

I'll get it built. This is a smart, strategic, see-through steel barrier - not just a simple concrete wall

It will be deployed in the areas identified by border agents as having the greatest need, and as these agents will tell you, where walls go up, illegal crossings go way down

San Diego used to have the most illegal border crossings in the country. In response, and at the request of San Diego residents and political leaders, a strong security wall was put in place

This powerful barrier almost completely ended illegal crossings. The border city of El Paso, Texas, used to have extremely high rates of violent crime - one of the highest in the country, and considered one of our Nation's most dangerous cities

Now, with a powerful barrier in place, El Paso is one of our safest cities.Simply put, walls work and walls save lives

So let's work together, compromise, and reach a deal that will truly make America safe

As we work to defend our people's safety, we must also ensure our economic resurgence continues at a rapid pace

No one has benefited more from our thriving economy than women, who have filled 58 percent of the new jobs created in the last year

All Americans can be proud that we have more women in the workforce than ever before - and exactly one century after the Congress passed the Constitutional amendment giving women the right to vote, we also have more women serving in the Congress than ever before

As part of our commitment to improving opportunity for women everywhere, this Thursday we are launching the first ever Government-wide initiative focused on economic empowerment for women in developing countries

To build on our incredible economic success, one priority is paramount - reversing decades of calamitous trade policies

We are now making it clear to China that after years of targeting our industries, and stealing our intellectual property, the theft of American jobs and wealth has come to an end

Therefore, we recently imposed tariffs on $250 billion of Chinese goods - and now our Treasury is receiving billions of dollars a month from a country that never gave us a dime

But I don't blame China for taking advantage of us - I blame our leaders and representatives for allowing this travesty to happen

I have great respect for President Xi, and we are now working on a new trade deal with China

But it must include real, structural change to end unfair trade practices, reduce our chronic trade deficit, and protect American jobs

Another historic trade blunder was the catastrophe known as NAFTA.I have met the men and women of Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, New Hampshire, and many other States whose dreams were shattered by NAFTA

For years, politicians promised them they would negotiate for a better deal. But no one ever tried - until now

Our new U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement - or USMCA - will replace NAFTA and deliver for American workers: bringing back our manufacturing jobs, expanding American agriculture, protecting intellectual property, and ensuring that more cars are proudly stamped with four beautiful words: made in the USA

Tonight, I am also asking you to pass the United States Reciprocal Trade Act, so that if another country places an unfair tariff on an American product, we can charge them the exact same tariff on the same product that they sell to us

Both parties should be able to unite for a great rebuilding of America's crumbling infrastructure

I know that the Congress is eager to pass an infrastructure bill - and I am eager to work with you on legislation to deliver new and important infrastructure investment, including investments in the cutting edge industries of the future

This is not an option. This is a necessity. The next major priority for me, and for all of us, should be to lower the cost of healthcare and prescription drugs - and to protect patients with pre-existing conditions

Already, as a result of my Administration's efforts, in 2018 drug prices experienced their single largest decline in 46 years

But we must do more.It is unacceptable that Americans pay vastly more than people in other countries for the exact same drugs, often made in the exact same place

This is wrong, unfair, and together we can stop it.I am asking the Congress to pass legislation that finally takes on the problem of global freeloading and delivers fairness and price transparency for American patients

We should also require drug companies, insurance companies, and hospitals to disclose real prices to foster competition and bring costs down

No force in history has done more to advance the human condition than American freedom

In recent years we have made remarkable progress in the fight against HIV and AIDS

Scientific breakthroughs have brought a once-distant dream within reach. My budget will ask Democrats and Republicans to make the needed commitment to eliminate the HIV epidemic in the United States within 10 years

Together, we will defeat AIDS in America.Tonight, I am also asking you to join me in another fight that all Americans can get behind: the fight against childhood cancer

Joining Melania in the gallery this evening is a very brave 10-year-old girl, Grace Eline

Every birthday since she was 4, Grace asked her friends to donate to St.Jude Children's Research Hospital

She did not know that one day she might be a patient herself.Last year, Grace was diagnosed with brain cancer

Immediately, she began radiation treatment. At the same time, she rallied her community and raised more than $40,000 for the fight against cancer

When Grace completed treatment last fall, her doctors and nurses cheered with tears in their eyes as she hung up a poster that read: 'Last Day of Chemo

' Grace - you are an inspiration to us all. Many childhood cancers have not seen new therapies in decades

My budget will ask the Congress for $500 million over the next 10 years to fund this critical life-saving research

To help support working parents, the time has come to pass school choice for America's children

I am also proud to be the first President to include in my budget a plan for nationwide paid family leave - so that every new parent has the chance to bond with their newborn child

There could be no greater contrast to the beautiful image of a mother holding her infant child than the chilling displays our Nation saw in recent days

Lawmakers in New York cheered with delight upon the passage of legislation that would allow a baby to be ripped from the mother's womb moments before birth

These are living, feeling, beautiful babies who will never get the chance to share their love and dreams with the world

And then, we had the case of the Governor of Virginia where he basically stated he would execute a baby after birth

To defend the dignity of every person, I am asking the Congress to pass legislation to prohibit the late-term abortion of children who can feel pain in the mother's womb

Let us work together to build a culture that cherishes innocent life. And let us reaffirm a fundamental truth: all children - born and unborn - are made in the holy image of God

The final part of my agenda is to protect America's National Security.Over the last 2 years, we have begun to fully rebuild the United States Military - with $700 billion last year and $716 billion this year

We are also getting other nations to pay their fair share. For years, the United States was being treated very unfairly by NATO - but now we have secured a $100 billion increase in defense spending from NATO allies

As part of our military build-up, the United States is developing a state-of-the-art Missile Defense System

Under my Administration, we will never apologize for advancing America's interests

For example, decades ago the United States entered into a treaty with Russia in which we agreed to limit and reduce our missile capabilities

While we followed the agreement to the letter, Russia repeatedly violated its terms

That is why I announced that the United States is officially withdrawing from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, or INF Treaty

Perhaps we can negotiate a different agreement, adding China and others, or perhaps we can't - in which case, we will outspend and out-innovate all others by far

As part of a bold new diplomacy, we continue our historic push for peace on the Korean Peninsula

Our hostages have come home, nuclear testing has stopped, and there has not been a missile launch in 15 months

If I had not been elected President of the United States, we would right now, in my opinion, be in a major war with North Korea with potentially millions of people killed

Much work remains to be done, but my relationship with Kim Jong Un is a good one.And Chairman Kim and I will meet again on February 27 and 28 in Vietnam

Two weeks ago, the United States officially recognized the legitimate government of Venezuela, and its new interim President, Juan Guaido

We stand with the Venezuelan people in their noble quest for freedom - and we condemn the brutality of the Maduro regime, whose socialist policies have turned that nation from being the wealthiest in South America into a state of abject poverty and despair

Here, in the United States, we are alarmed by new calls to adopt socialism in our country

America was founded on liberty and independence - not government coercion, domination, and control

We are born free, and we will stay free.Tonight, we renew our resolve that America will never be a socialist country

One of the most complex set of challenges we face is in the Middle East. Our approach is based on principled realism - not discredited theories that have failed for decades to yield progress

For this reason, my Administration recognized the true capital of Israel - and proudly opened the American Embassy in Jerusalem

Our brave troops have now been fighting in the Middle East for almost 19 years. In Afghanistan and Iraq, nearly 7,000 American heroes have given their lives

More than 52,000 Americans have been badly wounded. We have spent more than $7 trillion in the Middle East

As a candidate for President, I pledged a new approach.Great nations do not fight endless wars

When I took office, ISIS controlled more than 20,000 square miles in Iraq and Syria

Today, we have liberated virtually all of that territory from the grip of these bloodthirsty killers

Now, as we work with our allies to destroy the remnants of ISIS, it is time to give our brave warriors in Syria a warm welcome home

I have also accelerated our negotiations to reach a political settlement in Afghanistan

Our troops have fought with unmatched valor - and thanks to their bravery, we are now able to pursue a political solution to this long and bloody conflict

In Afghanistan, my administration is holding constructive talks with a number of Afghan groups, including the Taliban

As we make progress in these negotiations, we will be able to reduce our troop presence and focus on counter-terrorism

We do not know whether we will achieve an agreement - but we do know that after two decades of war, the hour has come to at least try for peace

Above all, friend and foe alike must never doubt this Nation's power and will to defend our people

Eighteen years ago, terrorists attacked the USS Cole - and last month American forces killed one of the leaders of the attack

We are honored to be joined tonight by Tom Wibberley, whose son, Navy Seaman Craig Wibberley, was one of the 17 sailors we tragically lost

Tom: we vow to always remember the heroes of the USS Cole.My Administration has acted decisively to confront the world's leading state sponsor of terror: the radical regime in Iran

To ensure this corrupt dictatorship never acquires nuclear weapons, I withdrew the United States from the disastrous Iran nuclear deal

And last fall, we put in place the toughest sanctions ever imposed on a country. We will not avert our eyes from a regime that chants death to America and threatens genocide against the Jewish people

We must never ignore the vile poison of anti-Semitism, or those who spread its venomous creed

With one voice, we must confront this hatred anywhere and everywhere it occurs.Just months ago, 11 Jewish-Americans were viciously murdered in an anti-semitic attack on the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh

SWAT Officer Timothy Matson raced into the gunfire and was shot seven times chasing down the killer

Timothy has just had his 12th surgery - but he made the trip to be here with us tonight

Officer Matson: we are forever grateful for your courage in the face of evil.Tonight, we are also joined by Pittsburgh survivor Judah Samet

He arrived at the synagogue as the massacre began. But not only did Judah narrowly escape death last fall - more than seven decades ago, he narrowly survived the Nazi concentration camps

Today is Judah's 81st birthday.Judah says he can still remember the exact moment, nearly 75 years ago, after 10 months in a concentration camp, when he and his family were put on a train, and told they were going to another camp

Suddenly the train screeched to a halt.A soldier appeared.Judah's family braced for the worst

Then, his father cried out with joy: 'It's the Americans.' A second Holocaust survivor who is here tonight, Joshua Kaufman, was a prisoner at Dachau Concentration Camp

He remembers watching through a hole in the wall of a cattle car as American soldiers rolled in with tanks

'To me,' Joshua recalls, 'the American soldiers were proof that God exists, and they came down from the sky

' I began this evening by honoring three soldiers who fought on D-Day in the Second World War

One of them was Herman Zeitchik. But there is more to Herman's story.A year after he stormed the beaches of Normandy, Herman was one of those American soldiers who helped liberate Dachau

He was one of the Americans who helped rescue Joshua from that hell on earth.Almost 75 years later, Herman and Joshua are both together in the gallery tonight - seated side-by-side, here in the home of American freedom

Herman and Joshua: your presence this evening honors and uplifts our entire Nation

When American soldiers set out beneath the dark skies over the English Channel in the early hours of D-Day, 1944, they were just young men of 18 and 19, hurtling on fragile landing craft toward the most momentous battle in the history of war

They did not know if they would survive the hour. They did not know if they would grow old

But they knew that America had to prevail.Their cause was this Nation, and generations yet unborn

Why did they do it? They did it for America - they did it for us.Everything that has come since - our triumph over communism, our giant leaps of science and discovery, our unrivaled progress toward equality and justice - all of it is possible thanks to the blood and tears and courage and vision of the Americans who came before

Think of this Capitol - think of this very chamber, where lawmakers before you voted to end slavery, to build the railroads and the highways, to defeat fascism, to secure civil rights, to face down an evil empire

Here tonight, we have legislators from across this magnificent republic. You have come from the rocky shores of Maine and the volcanic peaks of Hawaii; from the snowy woods of Wisconsin and the red deserts of Arizona; from the green farms of Kentucky and the golden beaches of California

Together, we represent the most extraordinary Nation in all of history. What will we do with this moment? How will we be remembered? I ask the men and women of this Congress: Look at the opportunities before us! Our most thrilling achievements are still ahead

Our most exciting journeys still await. Our biggest victories are still to come.We have not yet begun to dream

We must choose whether we are defined by our differences - or whether we dare to transcend them

We must choose whether we will squander our inheritance - or whether we will proudly declare that we are Americans

We do the incredible. We defy the impossible. We conquer the unknown. This is the time to re-ignite the American imagination

This is the time to search for the tallest summit, and set our sights on the brightest star

This is the time to rekindle the bonds of love and loyalty and memory that link us together as citizens, as neighbors, as patriots

This is our future - our fate - and our choice to make.I am asking you to choose greatness

No matter the trials we face, no matter the challenges to come, we must go forward together

We must keep America first in our hearts. We must keep freedom alive in our souls. And we must always keep faith in America's destiny - that one Nation, under God, must be the hope and the promise and the light and the glory among all the nations of the world! Thank you

God Bless You, God Bless America, and good night!

21 Savage says he is a 'Dreamer with three US children' as he fights to avoid deportation to the UK - Duration: 6:23.

Rapper 21 Savage called himself a 'Dreamer' before describing how he had 'three US Citizen children' and had been working on a U Visa before he was detained by ICE, in a statement released by his team on Tuesday

Savage, whose legal name is She'yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, asserted that there had been a 'great deal of misreporting' that was only leading to 'false conclusions'

The rapper's team admitted to him being born in the United Kingdom, adding that he had moved to the United States under the H-4 when he was seven

The statement details that as a child, Savage only returned back to the U.K.for a month in 2005

He returned to the States in July, once again under a H-4 visa for minors.'Mr Abraham-Joseph has been continuously physically present in the United States for almost 20 years, except for a brief visit abroad,' the statement read

'Unfortunately, in 2006 Mr.Abraham-Joseph lost his legal status through no fault of his own

'Mr.Abraham-Joseph, like almost two million of his immigrant child peers, was left without immigration status as a young child with no way to fix his immigration status

These "Dreamers" come from all walks of life and every ethnicity.' Savage's team said that he plans 'seek relief from removal in immigration court' through the Cancellation of Removal from an Immigration Judge, stating that he has very permanent ties to the country

'Mr.Abraham-Joseph has three US Citizen children, a lawful permanent resident mother and four siblings that are either US Citizens or lawful permanent residents,' the announcement said

'He has exceptionally strong ties in the United States, having lived here since he was in the first grade

Savage's team stated that the rapper was placed in deportation proceedings 'AFTER' his arrest, and that he wasn't on the run from DHS as he had been working towards obtaining a U Visa since 2017

'This U visa was filed as a result of being the victim of a deadly shooting in 2013

That visa was filed in 2017 and remains pending,' the statement added.'When granted, the U visa will afford him lawful status in the United States

Generally, ICE has recognized a pending facially valid U visa as a basis to delay removal proceedings and release individuals from custody

' They asserted that Savage wasn't a flight risk and should be eligible for bond, stating that he wasn't a 'danger' because of his 'acts of philanthropy and good will

' The statement included a communal speculation that ICE had 'ulterior motives' for the rapper's arrest

Savage had recently appeared on Jimmy Fallon, where he performed his song 'A Lot.' In the song, he changed some of the lyrics appearing to condemn 'the behavior of immigration officials for their detention of children at the border

' It is unclear what facility the musician is being held in, and a search of the ICE detainee database under several variations of his name did not yield a result

ICE has said that Savage is a British citizen who came to the United States from the United Kingdom in 2005, when he was 12, and is 'unlawfully present' in the U

S.after illegally overstaying his visa.Abraham-Joseph is being held in federal custody pending removal proceedings

His manager, who goes by the name Stone Mound Meezy, said in a tweet on Tuesday that he had spoken with Abraham-Joseph in a phone call

'He is in lockdown for 23hrs of the day no tv or any communication besides our 10 min phone calls,' Meezy wrote in the tweet, which has since been deleted

'Everything I've told him that has been happening made him happy and makes this time fly by thank y'all for the support,' the manager added, alluding to high-profile efforts and petitions to secure Abraham-Joseph's release

Trump calls for end to House investigations at State of the Union - Duration: 2:32.

Trump calls for end to House investigations at State of the Union

President Donald Trump fired a warning shot to congressional Democrats on Tuesday night.

As the president faces a slew of investigations from the new House Democratic majority, he warned the party against coming probes into his policies and personal finances. In his State of the Union address, he claimed the only things that can stop a strong U.S. economy "are foolish wars, politics or ridiculous partisan investigations."

"If there is going to peace and legislation, there cannot be war and investigation. It just doesnt work that way!" Trump said as Democrats such as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Adam Schiff, D Calif., looked on stone faced.

The remarks come as Trump continues to rage about special counsel Robert Muellers investigation into Russian efforts to interfere in the 2016 election, which the president has repeatedly called a "witch hunt." The investigation has increasingly closed in around the president, pulling in his ex lawyer, former campaign chairman and longtime political confidant.

Democrats have also promised to conduct oversight of policies from his travel ban to separation of migrant children from parents at the southern U.S. border. They have also , which he has refused to release, breaking with presidential precedent.

Both the House Democratic and Mueller probes threaten a president already weighed down by poor approval ratings ahead of his re election bid next year. He has tried to cast Democrats as radicals who want to use their oversight power for partisan probes.

Trumps warning to Democrats came during a speech in which he urged members of Congress to "govern not as two parties, but one nation." Trump, who reportedly called Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer a "nasty son of a bitch" during a private lunch earlier Tuesday, asked Congress to "reject the politics of revenge, resistance and retribution — and embrace the boundless potential of cooperation, compromise and the common good."

He pushed Republicans and Democrats to cooperate on issues such as immigration and trade. But at least on immigration, a bipartisan solution appears unlikely: Trump has demanded money to build his proposed border wall, which Democrats have repeatedly refused to provide.

President Trumps State of the Union guests highlight themes of his speech Politics - Duration: 4:04.

President Trumps State of the Union guests highlight themes of his speech Politics

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trumps State of the Union guests will complement the themes of his Tuesday night speech, which is expected to cast a unifying tone but also could inflame rhetoric on issues such as immigration.

The group of 13, per the White House, represents "the very best of America."

Here are the guests:

Alice Marie Johnson

President Trump , a first time nonviolent drug offender, last June following his Oval Office meeting about Johnson with Kim Kardashian West. Johnson had served 21 years of a life sentence after she was convicted on charges of conspiracy to possess cocaine and attempted possession of cocaine, according to the nonprofit organization Can Do, which advocates for clemency for nonviolent drug offenders. Johnsons presence is expected to highlight the administrations work on criminal justice.

Timothy Matson and Judah Samet

Timothy Matson and Judah Samet are survivors of the horrific anti Semitic Tree of Life Synagogue massacre in Pittsburgh that left 11 worshippers dead last October. Samet, a Holocaust survivor, served as a paratrooper in the Israel Defense Forces before moving to the United States in the 1960s.

"It just never ends. Its never completely safe for Jews. Its in the DNA. Not just Americas DNA but the worlds," .

Matson, a member of the Pittsburgh police departments SWAT team, was a first responder at the attack. "He suffered multiple gunshot wounds and saved countless lives in that heinous, anti Semitic attack," said the White House.

Ashley Evans

Ashley Evans has "struggled with opioid and substance abuse for much of her life," according to the White House.

"In 2017, she was pregnant and suffered a relapse. Her recovery began with the birth of her daughter along with the help of Brigids Path, a medical care facility in Kettering, Ohio," the White House said.

"I hid my addiction for six years by isolating myself and being alone. And for the first time in my life Im not alone," , praising Brigids Path for advocating on behalf of her daughter and her.

Evans has been sober for more than a year and later this month she will be reunited with her daughter full time. The administration has been working to find solutions and support for the opioid epidemic, which is also part of the first ladys platform.

Matthew Charles

After spending 21 years in prison for drug related offenses, Matthew Charles was released and began to get back on his feet. Then he was sent back.

"Turns out my release ordered by a federal judge who thought a new drug sentencing law applied to my case was a mistake," .

But in January, Charles became the first prisoner released as a result of the bipartisan First Step Act, according to the White House.

Trump warns of socialism in State of the Union as 2020 election starts

President Donald Trump wants to make a familiar political bogeyman part of his 2020 re election bid.

The presidents State of the Union address Tuesday night sounded a lot like a stump speech. He listed what he considers his accomplishments and repeated his campaign promise to build a border wall. Trump also derided what he cast as a drift toward "socialism" in the Democratic Party.

"Here, in the United States, we are alarmed by new calls to adopt socialism in our country. ... Tonight, we renew our resolve that America will never be a socialist country," the president said, prompting applause from congressional Republicans who stared toward the Democratic side of the House chamber. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, sitting behind Trump, also applauded.

In the Democratic held House, more members have embraced largely popular policies such as , and . Trump and the GOP have tied the party to an economically ravaged Venezuela, despite the fact that lawmakers have not called for majority or full state ownership of companies like in the South American country.

Facing low approval ratings, and a failure to accomplish some of his key campaign goals ahead of his November 2020 re election bid, the president appears intent on stirring fears about the political ideology. A Trump campaign spokesman said the rhetoric about socialism "resonates with the vast majority of hard working Americans who recognize that Trumps patriotic capitalism is benefiting all Americans nationwide."

Still, it is unclear whether Trumps attacks will work. Plus, the Democratic Partys left wing may have the public on its side on at least a few economic issues.

A few lawmakers such as freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, D N.Y., and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I Vt., identify as Democratic socialists. They have become favorite targets for Republicans as the GOP tries to cast all Democrats as too radical for mainstream America. In Ocasio Cortezs mind, Trumps criticism shows concern about the popularity of policies embraced by the left.

"I think hes scared," the representative told reporters Tuesday night, . "He sees that everything is closing in on him and he knows that hes losing the battle on public opinion."

Indeed, found 53 percent of registered voters would be more likely to back a presidential candidate who supports Medicare for all. Even Trump has called for universal health care in the past.

Since taking the majority and speakers gavel back last month, Pelosi has had to manage an ideologically diverse caucus. Her applause after Trumps socialism line reflects a push to portray a Democratic Party that has not drifted too far left, despite . Democrats represent — and aim to keep — dozens of House seats either split ideologically or leaning Republican.

For instance, Pelosi and other party leaders have tread lightly around Medicare for all. They have pushed to improve Obamacare and strengthen its popular provisions instead of calling for a more dramatic overhaul of the health care system.

Still, Trumps complaints about government power will not disappear as many of his potential 2020 opponents call to expand public health care. Just how effective the rhetoric is remains to be seen.

Republicans have tied Democratic lawmakers to socialism for decades. Critics have cast expansions of state power, from the New Deal to the Affordable Care Act, as moves toward government control of just about everything.

For decades, Russia was the socialist bogeyman. Now, its Venezuela.

Before the 2018 midterms, the White House warning that policies such as Medicare for all would turn the U.S. into "the next Venezuela." The House Republican campaign arm also rejected its foes as too radical for the U.S. public.

Democrats went on to gain a net 40 House seats, largely focusing on protecting health care coverage in an election marked largely by Trumps poor approval rating.

Strong dislike of the president threatens to sink him personally this time. He has only about a 41 percent approval rating, versus 55 percent disapproval, .

On Tuesday night, Trump touted his main electoral selling point to the American public: a strong U.S. economy. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin .

"The U.S. economy is doing terrific," the Treasury secretary said. "And as the president talked about last night, his economic plan is working. Were not going back to socialism."

Mnuchin said that "we dont believe in a centralized planning economy where the government puts restraints on it." However, Trump has .

Democrat Stacey Abrams' response to Trump's State of the Union: TRANSCRIPT - Duration: 16:30.

Democrat Stacey Abrams made history as the first African-American woman to deliver a response to a president's State of the Union speech on Feb

5. Here is her full speech: Good evening, my fellow Americans. I'm Stacey Abrams, and I am honored to join the conversation about the state of our union

Growing up, my family went back and forth between lower middle class and working poor

Yet, even when they came home weary and bone-tired, my parents found a way to show us all who we could be

My librarian mother taught us to love learning. My father, a shipyard worker, put in overtime and extra shifts; and they made sure we volunteered to help others

Later, they both became United Methodist ministers, an expression of the faith that guides us

These were our family values -– faith, service, education and responsibility. Now, we only had one car, so sometimes my dad had to hitchhike and walk long stretches during the 30 mile trip home from the shipyards

One rainy night, Mom got worried. We piled in the car and went out looking for him -- and eventually found Dad making his way along the road, soaked and shivering in his shirtsleeves

When he got in the car, Mom asked if he'd left his coat at work. He explained he'd given it to a homeless man he'd met on the highway

When we asked why he'd given away his only jacket, Dad turned to us and said, "I knew when I left that man, he'd still be alone

But I could give him my coat, because I knew you were coming for me." Our power and strength as Americans lives in our hard work and our belief in more

My family understood firsthand that while success is not guaranteed, we live in a nation where opportunity is possible

But we do not succeed alone –- in these United States, when times are tough, we can persevere because our friends and neighbors will come for us

Our first responders will come for us. It is this mantra -- this uncommon grace of community -- that has driven me to become an attorney, a small business owner, a writer, and most recently, the Democratic nominee for governor of Georgia

My reason for running for governor was simple: I love our country and its promise of opportunity for all, and I stand here tonight because I hold fast to my father's credo –- together, we are coming for America, for a better America

Just a few weeks ago, I joined volunteers to distribute meals to furloughed federal workers

They waited in line for a box of food and a sliver of hope since they hadn't received a paycheck in weeks

Making their livelihoods a pawn for political games is a disgrace. The shutdown was a stunt engineered by the president of the United States, one that defied every tenet of fairness and abandoned not just our people -- but our values

For seven years, I led the Democratic Party in the Georgia House of Representatives

I didn't always agree with the Republican speaker or governor, but I understood that our constituents didn't care about our political parties -– they cared about their lives

So, when we had to negotiate criminal justice reform or transportation or foster care improvements, the leaders of our state didn't shut down -– we came together

And we kept our word. It should be no different in our nation's capital. We may come from different sides of the political aisle; but, our joint commitment to the ideals of this nation cannot be negotiable

Our most urgent work is to realize Americans' dreams of today and tomorrow. To carve a path to independence and prosperity that can last a lifetime

Children deserve an excellent education from cradle to career. We owe them safe schools and the highest standards, regardless of zip code

Yet this White House responds timidly while first graders practice active shooter drills and the price of higher education grows ever steeper

From now on, our leaders must be willing to tackle gun safety measures and the crippling effect of educational loans; to support educators and invest what is necessary to unleash the power of America's greatest minds

In Georgia and around the country, people are striving for a middle class where a salary truly equals economic security

But instead, families' hopes are being crushed by Republican leadership that ignores real life or just doesn't understand it

Under the current administration, far too many hard-working Americans are falling behind, living paycheck to paycheck, most without labor unions to protect them from even worse harm

The Republican tax bill rigged the system against working people. Rather than bringing back jobs, plants are closing, layoffs are looming and wages struggle to keep pace with the actual cost of living

We owe more to the millions of everyday folks who keep our economy running: like truck drivers forced to buy their own rigs, farmers caught in a trade war, small business owners in search of capital and domestic workers serving without labor protections

Women and men who could thrive if only they had the support and freedom to do so

We know bipartisanship could craft a 21st century immigration plan, but this administration chooses to cage children and tear families apart

Compassionate treatment at the border is not the same as open borders. President Reagan understood this

President Obama understood this. Americans understand this. And Democrats stand ready to effectively secure our ports and borders

But we must all embrace that from agriculture to healthcare to entrepreneurship, America is made stronger by the presence of immigrants -- not walls

Rather than suing to dismantle the Affordable Care Act, as Republican attorneys general have, our leaders must protect the progress we've made and commit to expanding health care and lowering costs for everyone

My father has battled prostate cancer for years. To help cover the costs, I found myself sinking deeper into debt -- because while you can defer some payments, you can't defer cancer treatment

In this great nation, Americans are skipping blood pressure pills, forced to choose between buying medicine or paying rent

Maternal mortality rates show that mothers, especially black mothers, risk death to give birth

And in 14 states, including my home state where a majority want it, our leaders refuse to expand Medicaid, which could save rural hospitals, economies, and lives

We can do so much more: Take action on climate change. Defend individual liberties with fair-minded judges

But none of these ambitions are possible without the bedrock guarantee of our right to vote

Let's be clear: voter suppression is real. From making it harder to register and stay on the rolls to moving and closing polling places to rejecting lawful ballots, we can no longer ignore these threats to democracy

While I acknowledged the results of the 2018 election here in Georgia, I did not and we cannot accept efforts to undermine our right to vote

That's why I started a nonpartisan organization called Fair Fight to advocate for voting rights

This is the next battle for our democracy, one where all eligible citizens can have their say about the vision we want for our country

We must reject the cynicism that says allowing every eligible vote to be cast and counted is a "power grab

" Americans understand that these are the values our brave men and women in uniform and our veterans risk their lives to defend

The foundation of our moral leadership around the globe is free and fair elections, where voters pick their leaders –- not where politicians pick their voters

In this time of division and crisis, we must come together and stand for, and with, one another

America has stumbled time and again on its quest towards justice and equality; but with each generation, we have revisited our fundamental truths, and where we falter, we make amends

We fought Jim Crow with the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act, yet we continue to confront racism from our past and in our present –- which is why we must hold everyone from the very highest offices to our own families accountable for racist words and deeds –- and call racism what it is: wrong

America achieved a measure of reproductive justice in Roe v. Wade, but we must never forget it is immoral to allow politicians to harm women and families to advance a political agenda

We affirmed marriage equality, and yet, the LGBTQ community remains under attack

So even as I am very disappointed by the president's approach to our problems -– I still don't want him to fail

But we need him to tell the truth, and to respect his duties and the extraordinary diversity that defines America

Our progress has always found refuge in the basic instinct of the American experiment –- to do right by our people

And with a renewed commitment to social and economic justice, we will create a stronger America, together

Because America wins by fighting for our shared values against all enemies, foreign and domestic

That is who we are -– and when we do so, never wavering -- the state of our union will always be strong

Thank you, and may God bless the United States of America.
