I need your love

I need your time

When everything's wrong

You make it right

I feel so high

I come alive

I need to be free with you tonight

I need your love

I need your love

I take a deep breath every time I pass your door

I know you're there but I can't see you anymore

And that's the reason you're in the dark

I've been a stranger ever since we fell apart

I feel so out of sea

Watch my eyes are filled with fear

Tell me do you feel the same

Hold me in your arms again

I need your love

I need your time

When everything's wrong

You make it right

I feel so high

I come alive

I need to be free with you tonight

I need your love

I need your love

Now I'm dreaming, will ever find you now?

I walk in circles but I never make it out

What I mean to you, do I belong

I try to fight this but I know I'm not that strong

And I feel so helpless here

Watch my eyes are filled with fear

Tell me do you feel the same

Hold me in your arms again

I need your love

I need your time

When everything's wrong

You make it right

I feel so high

I come alive

I need to be free with you tonight

I need your love

I need your love

All the years

All the times

You were never been to blame

And now my eyes are open

And now my heart is closing

And all the tears

And all the tears

All the waste

I've been trying to make it change

And now my eyes are open

I need your love

I need your time

When everything's wrong

You make it right

I feel so high

I come alive

I need to be free

Day trip to Belem Tower (and what convinced me I need a better tripod) - Duration: 8:47.

Good morning.

Day one, two, whichever day it is.

I'm feeling rather seedy this morning and I got out of bed too late for breakfast.

As chance would have it I found a shop that sells Portugese custard tarts.

Pastel de nata.

I think that is serendipity.

Who would have thought.

So I'm going to grab one.

Thick, sweet, delicious.

I'm heading down these steep, slippery streets to get to the train station.

I'm going to go to see…

Belem Tower.

Yup, this hungover fool forgot where he was going and had to record a voiceover later.

And as an aside, welcome to the Ash Kyd potentially mispronounces foreign place names blog.

It's so great you could join me.

So the rain's holding out for the moment.

It's supposed to get wet again in a couple of hours but in the meantime I've caught a

train out to (okay I think this one's Algés)

Don't actually know how to pronounce it.

I'm going to go see the famous tower, which is actually fairly significant.

It's a world heritage site because… I'm not sure if you remember this, it was a while back

but in 1755 there was an earthquake that pretty much destroyed Lisbon.

But a few things still stand and this is one of them, so this was built in the 1500s as

a defensive thing along the river and it's pretty impressive.

Alright I'm going to try and queue up. You can get to the top.

Looks like the drawbridge mechanism.

Combined with a portcullis (fun word) and several openings on the entrance ceiling through

which projectiles were launched made access by invaders difficult.

Let's head on up.

Warning: narrow spiral staircase with 93 steps.

Mind the light signs over the doors The sound sign means you have to leave the stairway.

Older French tourist: Go! Gogogogo!

That was a climb!

That's enough of that I think.

I'm heading back down.

[alarm beeping]

It's impressive they managed to build the system of beeps in the 1500s.

[ocean sloshing] Eeee!

Alright, I think I'm done.

Well that was really cool.

I was not expecting to be quite so impressed.

I just got a message from my friend Corina to let me know that the Amsterdam Flower Markets

are on this weekend.

I'm super excited to see how the tulips go.

Hello this is not Ash.

Today is International Tulip Day and we're gonna check what's here.

Should be lots of tulips.

200,000.

Corina I am so excited about the flower markets!

How could I have chosen such a poor weekend to leave Amsterdam and come somewhere much

more blustery.

It's really windy.

So I'm gonna walk down to this one more landmark.

This was a fairly recent thing built to commemorate the age of discovery.

Big limestone thing.

That's the other thing, I looked up everything here is limestone.

I'm not sure why but that's what all the paving, all of that construction, everything here

is limestone.

So I'm just gonna pound the limestone and get to the next venue.

You can also see over there, this is inspired by Christ the Redeemer.

Wikipedia says that 80% of people here are Roman Catholics so yeah.

They built a Christ the Redeemer

tribute.

I get too much joy from the thought that someone was rolling along,

hit that grate and had a terrible scooter accident and swore off Limes forever.

It's bad. But. Funny.

Apparently you can go up there and it looks like it'd be an amazing view but I am getting

hungry and need a battery recharge and some caffeine

and I have all of these hierarchy of needs wot need filling.

Not happy!

We'll be fine.

So that's kind of my day trip to Belem.

I would probably say if you're going to do it maybe check out the town itself

because the walk between the monuments, there's really not much there

and the Monument to Discoveries might be your thing if you want to climb to the top of it

but otherwise it's not a must see in my book So while the Lisbon wet season got the best

of me today, stay tuned because tomorrow I am going to the mountains of Sintra

in search of an ancient Moorish castle.

It's going to be exciting.

I Need to Talk Day 4 - Duration: 1:55.

- So someone came to you and said, I need to talk.

And at this phase in the conversation,

that person has identified whether they need support

or whether they need guidance.

Now, if they just needed support, then you honor that,

and you let them know,

thank you for coming to share with me,

and I'm here if you need to share further.

But if they need guidance,

I'm sure, in your mind, you've already worked out

exactly what this person needs to do,

or what your suggestions are.

But here's the key, don't tell them,

let them figure it out for themselves.

Ask them leading questions.

What is the goal?

How can we make this better?

Because what you're doing there,

is you're building a leader,

someone who can solve problems for themselves,

and at the same time,

you're building that person's trust in you.

Now, on the flip side, when they need guidance,

they could have completely caught you off-guard.

They shared something where you don't even know

how to respond, you don't know where to begin,

and when this happens, the best thing that you can do,

is to buy yourself some time.

Thank them for coming to talk to you,

to share what they shared.

And then let them know,

you know what, I need a little bit of time to think on this,

so let's schedule a time to get back together

and discuss it further.

Go ahead and pull out your calendar,

and put it on the calendar,

so that the two of you can get back together to discuss.

And keep your promise.

Whatever time it is, whatever day it is

that you decide to schedule, make sure you stick to it,

because this conversation, remember,

was important enough for this person to come to you

and discuss face to face.

I Need to Talk Day 3 - Duration: 1:08.

- We're talkin' about what to do

when someone comes to you and says, I need to talk.

At this point, there's a nice, quiet, safe space

for that person to share with you.

You have been actively listening

and they've reached a stopping point

and you have asked them, may I speak?

Now if they're done, of course they'll say yes

and if they're not, then that's great that you asked

because that way they can continue telling their story,

but they said yes, that they're complete.

So here's the two questions that you want to ask.

You want to ask, do you need my support?

Or do you need my guidance?

Because those two things are very different.

If they just need your support,

then what they're saying is,

they just need you to be a sounding board

for what they needed to share.

They just wanted to be heard

and if they say they need your guidance,

then that's when it's time for you to kinda step in

and help them solve the problem,

help them figure out what to do next.

So it's always important to figure out support or guidance.
