So after being a stay-at-home mom for three years,

I venture back into academia.

I wasn't aware that I was already pregnant again.

My son's due date was during winter break.

It got closer and closer.

And then I said to myself,

"Najmah, all you have to do is have this baby

before the semester starts again."

I delivered on New Year's Eve of 2000.

Six days later, yes,

I was nursing a newborn,

and I was also back to fashion design class.

When I graduated, I thought,

"Whew, the hardest part of this is now behind me.

Now, I can now start my fashion career."

But time passed, and the job offer just was not coming.

Even a student with a D-average got hired.

So this is now how it went.

Interview after interview,

me waiting in fancy offices and showrooms,

and not seeing one black face,

except maybe the secretaries.

I already expected not to see any Muslim faces.

I'll never forget one interviewer,

who asked me, "So,

would you like to take off your jacket and scarf?"

And I had to mumble back,

"They don't come off."

That was a very awkward

15 minutes for both of us.

After a few months,

the 27th creative director who interviewed me said,

"Why have you not been hired?

I'm going to scoop you up."

So, what was different?

She was Mexican.

She wasn't the only woman of color

in my career in fashion who said,

"We see your talent,

and we're going to take a chance."

Maybe you think that's the happy ending.

Nope! Only two years later,

I was hired for a graphic design job.

My first day there,

I met the owner.

He took one look,

and believe it or not,

he decided to re-interview me.

I had already filled out the employee paperwork.

It's been over 15 years of being

able to make money from being creative,

which is a blessing.

But even in today's world

of modest fashion bloggers,

and a hijabi model on the cover of Vogue,

I still wear all my scarves

better than any designer bag.

Yes it's my job since seven or eight years

In fact I show people how I dress, my looks, in nice places

through social networks, in my blog and on YouTube

I'm also a lot on instagram because everybody is there today.

And so you work together as a couple? You're doing her pictures? Yes we are together

I do her photos, videos ... and she yell at me sometimes too!

A good team! Yes.

Basically it's a nice way to share different experiences.

And I see that you love this job because you are always talking about it

So after I will take you at the beach

I will prepare a kite

for you so you'll be able to try it on the beach. Yes I would love to do it!

I didn't take the board because there is not so much wind

So in kite the first thing to understand is the wind. Where it comes from, how it feels

then use it as an energy and feel the kite.

I've taken a small kite for you. A 6 meters. I will inflate it

and I'll show you how to use it. And then you'll to put a harness too. Here it is.

You put it like that. You use it to

connect to the bar. Ok, Ok

When you make a Vlog with a blogger, the first thing she does is pictures !

You just destroyed my arm, but that's okay, I've seen worse.

Royal family latest: What fashion item will Meghan and Kate never wear? - Duration: 3:15.

 Apparently Her Majesty the Queen is not a fan of wedge shoes, which is why Kate and Meghan are not seen in them in public

 A source told Vanity Fair: "The Queen isn't a fan of wedged shoes. She really doesn't like them it's well known among the women in the family

 The Duchess of Sussex nor the Duchess of will wear wedges in front of the Queen but Kate has been known to wear them on official engagements without her present

 According to Vanity Fair, she has never worn them in front of her husband's grandmother, as she recognises Her Majesty's preference towards them

 The Queen does not like the comfy, what could be described as clumsy. Meghan has not been photographed in wedges since joining the Royal Family in May 2018

 She is unlikely to break this royal fashion protocol and never steps out in the platform shoe when the Queen is around

 Another fashion rule the duchesses have to abide by as a royal is wearing nude tights to Buckingham Palace garden parties

 Which explains why on her first public appearance, Meghan opted for pair of tights

 However for her engagement announcement she opted to ditch the tights and go bare-legged in front of the cameras

 The Duchess of Sussex has reportedly broken other royal protocol by appearing to reach for Prince Harry's hand at the Young Leaders Reception

 Which is a precedent set by the Queen as she rarely holds hands with her husband in public, which has set an unwritten precedent for the other Royals

 Myka Meier, a royal etiquette expert who was trained by a former member of the Queen's household royal life, the actress will have gone through hours of learning about British etiquette

 Ms Meier exclusively told Express.co.uk: "At this stage Meghan has been taught a wide spectrum of British etiquette and protocol - everything from dining and afternoon tea to social etiquette (from how to hold a handbag and sit correctly to how to meet and greet properly in the UK) will have been covered

 The British-American etiquette expert coined the terms the Duchess slant and the Cambridge cross which are used to describe the way royals often sit in a formal manner

 The Duchess slant is when the knees and ankles touch and legs are slanted to the side

 "This is the best way to protect modesty, especially if you're wearing a dress or skirt, as when the legs slant, cameras are unable to catch any revealing angles," Ms Meier said

In Berlin hat die Fashion Week begonnen. Bei zahlreichen Laufstegschauen zeigen renommierte Designer und aufstrebende Newcomer ihre Entwürfe für die nächste Sommersaison

Den Startschuss gab das Label Botter mit ausgefallenen Kreationen.Berlin (dpa) - Karibische Lebensfreude trifft klassische Eleganz - das Avantgarde-Label Botter hat die Berliner Modewoche mit einem politischen Statement eröffnet

Das niederländische Designerduo Rushemy Botter und Lisi Herrebrugh zeigte am Dienstag mit farbigen Models eine Show, die sich mit Fragen von Identität und Herkunft auseinandersetzt.Strenges Glencheck-Karo und bunte florale Motive, überdimensionale Oberteile und schmale Hosen, jugendlicher Gang-Look und bunte Fischernetze - die Entwürfe sind immer mit von Botters karibischer Heimat inspiriert

Dazu gibt es klobige Arbeiterstiefel und auch mal einen großen aufgeblasenen Delfin als Hut - alles geht. Insgesamt zeigen bei der Fashion Week bis Freitag rund 3500 Aussteller ihre Kollektionen für die kommende Sommersaison.Neben den Laufstegschauen im angesagten Ewerk in Berlin-Mitte und der Nachwuchsplattform Berliner Salon gibt es acht Einzelmessen.Rund 100.000 Fachbesucher werden erwartet
