It was a solemn occasion, but the Duchess of Sussex looked like she was ready for a turn on the red carpet as she joined the Royal Family for the Armistice Day service at the Cenotaph yesterday

Former actress Meghan, 37, returned to her showbiz roots with a Hollywood-inspired palette as she observed the moving centenary service from a balcony overlooking the war memorial in London

The mother-to-be, who is expecting her first child with Prince Harry, 34, next spring, opted for a sultry smokey eye in soft shades of lilac and brown - and added highlighter on her cheekbones to ensure she looked great from 'every camera angle', according to a professional make-up artist

It stood in contrast to her sister-in-law the Duchess of Cambridge, 36, who chose a more 'classic' and 'grown-up' look for the appearance

Speaking to FEMAIL, Laura Kay, Professional Makeup Artist of Laura Kay London, explained Kate had opted for a 'serious' look while Meghan's was 'youthful and fresh'

'The Duchess of Cambridge tends to play it safer and her look here is very elegant and classic,' London-based Laura said

'Perhaps Meghan is more used to her Hollywood style and prefers her makeup look to reflect that

' Award-winning makeup artist Stacey Whittaker noted Meghan's look was more 'sultry' than her sister-in-law

'The main difference between to two looks in my opinion are the finish on the skin as Kate has opted for a more matte look and Meghan's looks more dewy and fresh,' she said

'Despite the differences, both royals opted for looks that were 'appropriate' for the occasion, she noted

Meanwhile Jade Elliott, founder of make-up brand ICONIC London, added Kate opted for something 'understated' and 'traditional', while Meghan was 'luminous' and 'pretty'

Delving into the details of Kate's make-up, Laura said: ' Her strong brow was probably defined with a dark brown brow powder

Natural looking false lashes were used to open up the eyes and were lined with black eyeliner with a small cat-eye flick

'There's a hint of pink blush strobbed across her cheekbones with a barely there nude lipstick or gloss

' Laura added that Kate might benefit from being more 'experimental' with her make-up on occasion

Turning to Meghan, who is expecting her first child with Prince Harry, 34, next spring, Laura reasoned: 'Meghan's makeup was also subtle but was fresh

Instead of using heavy tones like Catherine did, Meghan used soft browns and lilacs inside the sockets of the eyes with a hint of highlighter on the brow bone

'A creamy dusty pink blusher is blended into the apples of her cheeks and there appears to be highlighter swept down the bridge of her nose and across her cheekbones to define the contours of her face - and to look great in every camera angle

Marist Steel Plant: New Fashion and Art & Digital Media Building - Duration: 3:35.

It's been a really good evolution of the program academically.

In terms of expanding the curriculum over the years.

Building very strong majors in design and merchandising.

The team has been growing in terms of the educators.

The student body has been growing tremendously.

We're up to nearly 500 majors at this point.

And the Steel Plant is sort of the perfect missing piece.

Now the facilities will match the best in the world, in terms of other institutions.

Stem to stern, the building is everything we could ask for and everything that any fashion

or art student could ask for.

A critical element of the Marist education is what I call the practical application of theory.

Our students across every discipline don't just do book learning, you know learn the

concepts and the theories behind things, but they have a charge to practically apply that

in capping classes and internships and collaboration and research with faculty.

So when you think about a space like this and you think about the combination of these disciplines,

it's natural that you want to create a space that is more than just a classroom space

where you learn theory, but it's a practical space.

It's an application of theory space.

It's a place for innovation, experimentation, creation.

So we worked very hard.

Working with faculty, students, staff,

our architectural firm, to ensure that we had a space that reflected that, but also

tied itself to the history of the Hudson Valley which is what this building does.

The fashion program has reached these great heights without having the facilities that

really are equal to the work that they've done.

Now with this building, they do have a facility that equals the work that they do.

And our art students have done also remarkable work and now they have a space to inspire

them and to showcase what they do.

So it's just one of the great moments in our college's recent history.

It'll be really nice to have a place to call home.

And for students coming in to see such a great space and like such a way to communicate their ideas

properly, you really need a clean bright space just to think.

It's kind of like having a blank canvas if you think about it, and you can just put on

your creative ideas there.

That's when the ideas from your mind start being translated into a physical space.

I think one of the most important features of the building is that it's such a collaborative space.

The Winter Garden presents a beautiful inspiring area.

Wonderful cafe, easy access to all the technology labs that are downstairs, and the galleries

will be downstairs.

MPorium, which is the fashion program retail laboratory which makes great use of entrepreneurial

skills from the students, which has gone from a little kiosk type of business in our previous

location to a full on luxurious 5th Avenue ready sort of retail space.

I think there's a lot of opportunity within the building.

But I think it's also on the student to take advantage of that opportunity.

I like this program a lot because it's all what you make of it.

The more opportunity that you want to take on and the more opportunity that you see for yourself,

it's available now and more than ever before.

Meghan Fashion - How Meghan NOT cradling her baby bump in royal visit shows she is 'resilient' REVE - Duration: 2:54.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended a screening of the Wider Earth at the Natural History Museum last night, which is a production supporting the royals' work on behalf of protecting forests across the world

The 37-year-old has been photographed cradling her growing baby bump in recent months, but appeared to hold back on the cradling

Body language expert Judi James told The Daily Mail: "This was the first public appearance since her pregnancy was announced where Meghan didn't cup, stroke and cradle her bump

"This has previously been used as a social announcement gesture, pinning her pregnancy right up there on the top of the list of topics to be aware of and to talk to her about, as well as being useful to keep a running dialogue with the baby itself via some loving fingertip touches

Ms James said she believes the Duchess' lack of cradling is a deliberate act and could show a renewed confidence

She said: "Her decision to drop these rituals looks deliberate. There are a couple of times when we can see her perform a truncated gesture, when her left hand rises towards her bump in a bid to cradle it, but she appears to self-correct and drop her hand down to her side instead

"This could, sadly, suggest she's reacting to criticism on social media. If this is happening and she's beginning to lose some of her spontaneously tactile traits to become overly self-aware and sensitive to irrelevant feedback the worry is that she could be privately struggling with the problems with her father too

"However, as a conscious intentional gesture it could also suggest a desire to drop her arms in more of a "marching" style to signal renewed confidence

"When she did touch her bump it was to place her hand on the top of it, which is a commonly-used protective gesture, rather than the display gestures she has been using so far

" The leaked letters from Thomas Markle comes at the same time as Hollywood actor George Clooney has claimed that Meghan is being "vilified" by the media, even comparing her struggles to those of Princess Diana

Body language experts have previously said that it is completely natural and therapeutic for mothers to cradle their baby bumps

Meghan Fashion - Meghan Markle should emulate ONE Royal to win over the public - and it's NOT who y - Duration: 3:22.

Sheela Mackintosh-Stewart, a matrimonial consultant and relationship guru, said the Duchess of Sussex should try to emulate Princess Anne

She said the public value humility, which is "not Meghan's strongest suit". Princess Anne however, has been praised for her charitable modesty

Ms Mackintosh-Stewart told Express.co.uk: "Princess Anne works with many good causes, but does not seek fanfare

"One in full motherhood stride, Meghan would do well to replicate this by making a quiet long-term commitment to at least one good charitable cause

"In a time of great change and uncertainty in British politics, the lives of British inhabitants would no doubt be enriched by a charitable, hard-working princess

" She added that if Meghan were to play this right she would be able to quickly become the public's "queen of hearts" again

READ MORE: Is Meghan Markle's accent changing to be more BRITISH? Ms Mackintosh-Stewart explained that another way to show humility would be to follow Royal traditions, instead of breaking Royal protocol

For example, Meghan has consistently shown more public displays of affection with her husband Prince Harry than other Royals

The relationship guru insisted: "Senior Royals never hold their spouses' hands whilst on public royal duties, a tradition that Meghan and Harry rejected to the irritation of many

"It is unwise to pander to naysayers, but given the strength of the backlash, it would be wise to take heed and keep hand holding to a minimum

" She said that currently the Duchess' image is overshadowing her extensive charity work and patronage of the Grenfell Tower cookery book in September

She said: "Modesty can translate to quiet authority and this is a powerful tool for winning over the public

" Other strategies she suggested include reaching out to heal her relationship with the Duchess of Cambridge and making their friendship visible by, for example, accompanying her on a school run

Equally, she should try to heal the divisions within her own family, as her popularity sunk in the aftermath of the Markle family drama, according to the Ms Mackintosh-Stewart

The expert added that Meghan might want to watch how she speaks to the palace staff, as there have been rumours that she is an "unreasonable task manager"

Meghan Fashion - Meghan Markle's brother launches astonishing attack saying family rift is 'ALL HER - Duration: 3:15.

Meghan's half-brother has pleaded with Meghan to reunite the family while also laying the family problems at her feet

The Duchess of Sussex has been at odds with her estranged family for a considerable period of time and has recently asked her father to stop the media battle between the pair

Aside from her mother, Doria Ragland, Meghan has had problems with most of her family and in an interview with OK! magazine, her half-brother spoke of her strained relationship with her father

He said: "He's hurt and very confused about what happened to his relationship with his daughter and I think he's a little more frustrated now because he's got a grandchild coming up with his favourite person that he worshipped

"They had such a tight bond together and now he's worried about if he's ever going to get to see his grandchild

"It's a new addition to the family and now would be a perfect opportunity for the family to get back together

"A lot of the distance happened between Meghan when she went to Toronto and her first big break in TV which was Suits and it turned out to be a big hit in the USA

" READ MORE: Meghan Markle baby name predicted to be this Meghan's recent relationship with her father has become incredibly fractious since her marriage

Her father had been invited to the wedding last May but following his health problems and the reports that he had been paid by the paparazzi to stage photos, he was unable to attend

As a result of his absence, it was left to Prince Charles to walk Meghan part of the way down the aisle

Since then, her father has been incredibly outspoken in the media which forced Meghan to send him a letter asking him to stop his media barrage

READ MORE: How Prince William and Harry have DITCHED Queen's formal dress code Despite that request, her father released the private correspondents although he stated he had hoped that he wouldn't have to

Thomas Markle Jnr added: "I think she turned into a little Hollywood starlet and she was focused on her career so much, I get it

"I get being in that world because once you're down that path you'll do anything it takes to be successful so that had a lot to do with being distant from her whole family

"The way I look at it if Meg wants to talk to me I'm sure she can get a hold of me

Meghan Fashion - How Harry and Meghan's PDAs have inspired William and Kate - Duration: 3:37.

When the Duke of Cambridge wrapped a protective arm around his wife during this weekend's Armistice commemorations, it marked a dramatic departure for the couple

Once known for his reserved approach to marital life, it seems William has been taking cues from his little brother by indulging in increasingly frequent public displays of affection

In the months since Harry and Meghan's nuptials, the newlyweds have raised eyebrows by holding hands, cuddling and gazing longingly into each other's eyes during public engagements

And it seems their relaxed approach to displaying their feelings has rubbed off on Kate and William too

Just a few days before the Westminster Abbey service Kate, who welcomed her third child in April, was pictured placing an affectionate hand on her husband's knee during a visit to Coach Core in Essex

And last month, in a major break from tradition, the couple were seen holding hands at the wedding of Princess Eugenie inside St

Georges's Chapel, Windsor. The Cambridges normally reserve such intimate gestures for major family photo calls, such as their engagement or welcoming to their children to the world on the steps of the Lindo Wing

Onlookers noted that William had also placed a hand on the small of Kate's back as they entered the chapel together on October 12

Yet this time last year, the couple's body language could not have been more different; whether at a charity gala, a graduation ceremony or a meet-and-greet, they have consistently opted to keep a respectable distance in public

Speaking to MailOnline FEMAIL, body language expert Judi James said: 'Now that Meghan has joined The Firm, her own determinedly tactile behaviour with Harry does seem to have had a profound "echo" effect on William and Kate's rituals

'Normally its a younger sibling that will mimic or mirror the older, but in Harry and William's case it seems to be William taking his lead from his younger brother and his wife

' Judi says this could also be down to the couple not wanting to offer any hints as to the state of their marriage in the manner of William's parents, adding: 'Diana and Charles created a body language soap opera with some expressive displays of non-verbal behaviour

'William seems to have cautiously erred on the side of bland, with their total lack of PDAs meaning there have also never been signs of rifts, fallings-out or disagreements either

' Judi adds: When a couple have been married several years it can often take family newlyweds like Harry and Meghan to rekindle some more public displays of romance like this

'It worked at an even higher level, too. The recent photo-shoot for Charles's 70th birthday showed Camilla placing one hand on her husband's thigh as they sat together too'

Meghan Fashion - Royal BOMBSHELL: How monarchy was 'DONE' during upheaval of 1980s Britain - Duration: 2:16.

Speaking in Amazon Prime's 'The Story of Diana', various commentators outlined the chaos that permeated a wild decade in British history

Fashion journalist Meredith Etherington-Smith said: "People throwing cabbages at each other at bus stops

" Biographer Amanda Foreman also claimed strikes were "so bad" and remembered "rubbish wasn't taken off of the streets, there was electricity blackouts all the time"

And fashion designer Vivienne Westwood's controversial Sex Pistols shirt was the ultimate in protest fashion

The artist Jamie Reid created the wildly subversive images of Queen Elizabeth for the Sex Pistols's "God Save the Queen" record sleeve, gleefully deconstructing Cecil Beaton's portrait of Her Majesty with a safety pin through her nose

ABC's Chris Connolly said, against such a background, the Royal Family "were done"

Jess Cagle, editor of PEOPLE magazine, said: "There was a huge disdain for the Royal Family

" Mr Cagle said: "A growing part of the population felt 'Why are we supporting these spoiled aristocrats when we can't put food on our table?'" ABC's Mr Connolly claimed: "'No future', the punk band Sex Pistols would sing

" He adds: "And now, all of a sudden, here comes the future." The documentary suggested, at that time, it seemed Princess Diana was the future

Vivienne Parry, Diana's former charity partner said: "Diana was a disrupter. "She came at a time when the Royal Family was seen as being stuffy and old-fashioned

"She was new. She was the right way to start a fairy tale". While England was plagued by anti-conservative social unrest, the Queen saw the crucial distraction in a royal wedding

Watched by 750 million people around the world, the ceremony sparked new public interest in what was perceived as a stale monarchy

Royal-watchers described the lavish wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana in 1981 as the wedding of the century

Recalling the 1981 wedding for Amazon Prime's "Princess Diana: Behind the Headlines", Jess Cagle, said it was a "dark time" for England

He added: "The economy was terrible, the Royal Family was just considered by most people in England as this artefact that really resented having to support

" Kim Hubbard, associate editor at PEOPLE Magazine said: "People were really anti-monarchist at the time

The country was in a really bad state. "There was my mum who always reminds me the bins weren't being collected, there was garbage everywhere, you'd have electricity strikes

"And then you had these people who just inherited well, inherited power and were extremely privileged and there was a lot of resentment

"And people started to question, do we need this monarchy." However, for the British people, the wedding of Charles and Diana was a breath of fresh air from the stream of bad news in England

Meghan Fashion - Meghan's 30 outfits for her and Harry's tour Down Under cost £130,000 - Duration: 1:16.

This has been a whirlwind couple of weeks for the Duchess of Sussex, who has just finished her gruelling 16-day tour Down Under

She undertook 76 engagements with more than 30 outfit changes — adding up to an eye-watering £130,107

50. Nearly all cost four figures, and a few cost five — with the highest a whopping £17,000 (the cheapest was a snip at £380)

All of her pricey favourite designers got a look-in, from Stella McCartney, Givenchy and Burberry to Australians, such as Dion Lee and Martin Grant or Kiwis like Karen Walker and Maggie Marilyn

Where most people, especially Hollywood A-listers, would pull out their most extravagant, eye-catching creations, Meghan stayed classy with a subtle, often monochrome palette

Her wardrobe reflected causes close to her heart. Her black jeans were by Australian brand Outland Denim which employs women who have survived human trafficking

Her environmentally friendly pointed-toe pumps were from Rothy's — made from recycled bottles

The first splash of colour came for the state dinner in Fiji, with a bold 'Fijian blue' dress from British luxury label Safiyaa

The elegant, unfussy design was a wonderfully modern take on formalwear. But all of this comes at a price

Here, we tot up the cost of Meghan's incredibly lavish wardrobe . . .

Meghan Fashion - Royal wedding 2019: Engagement rings of royals - Meghan Markle, Princess Eugenie a - Duration: 5:53.

Lady Gabriella Windsor, the daughter of the Prince and Princess Michael of Kent will soon tie the knot with Thomas Kingston at St Georges' Chapel, Windsor Castle

Like Meghan Markle and Princess Eugenie, who were both married at the regal venue last year, the 51st in line to the throne has a gleaming engagement ring

While many engaged women often boast spectacular stones on their fingers, members of the Royal Family have huge heritage attached to their rings

Many of the exquisite designs worn by monarchs of the past have been passed down the family line meaning they are steeped in sentimental value

Here are some of some of the engagement rings worn by engaged royals over the years

Meghan Markle The Duchess of Sussex's ring, designed by Prince Harry, is a stunning trilogy ring set with three diamonds

Harry chose the traditional stone as it is Meghan's favourite. The central and largest diamond comes from Botswana where the couple have holidayed together in the past

Flanking the largest stone are two smaller diamonds belonging to the private jewellery collection of Princess Diana

The oval, pink design is surrounded by diamonds and set on a ring made of Welsh gold, said to be a gift from the Queen

The ring bears a striking resemblance to that of Eugenie's mother Sarah Ferguson's when she became engaged to Prince Andrew in 1986

READ MORE: PRINCESS EUGENIE LATEST: COULD EUGENIE BE PREGNANT WITH FIRST CHILD? BOOKIES IN FRENZYSarah Ferguson The Duchess of York's engagement ring had a similar flower-esque quality with a Burmese ruby surrounded by diamonds, designed by Prince Andrew

In a televised interview following their engagement, Prince Andrew was asked how he came about the ring

The Duke of York replied: "Ah, well very fortunately I didn't have to go out and buy it

" Andrew said he was visited by "some very nice engineers" before admitting he did not know the proper name for "jewellery engineers" to which Sarah laughs "jewellers"

The blue oval Ceylon 12-carat sapphire is encrusted with 14 solitaire diamonds. The Duke of Cambridge later said in an engagement interview: "It was my way of making sure mother didn't miss out on today and the excitement and the fact that we're going to spend the rest of our lives together

" William famously carried the jewel around in his pocket for three weeks while on holiday with Kate in Kenya before proposing

Queen Elizabeth The Queen's square-cut diamond engagement ring was made for her more than 70 years ago by Prince Philip

The three-carat diamonds were relatively understated for the time with the Queen said to be opting for a modern design

Philip chose the stone from a tiara belonging to his mother but choose not to go for the largest design

Jewellery expert Charlie revealed on ITV programme A Very Royal Wedding the reason why

He said: "Bearing in mind the time just after the war there was a necessity and propriety in what should be an everyday ring and I'm sure that had an effect on the decisions

"Princess Diana When the then newly-engaged Lady Diana Spencer was seen with her engagement ring in 1981, it became known she had broken royal protocol by choosing her design from a Garrad catalogue

This was unusual because it meant her style choice could essentially be bought an worn by other members of the public

Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall Camilla got engaged to Prince Charles in February 2005

Her five-carat diamond 1920s ring once belonged to the Queen Mother and Prince Charles' grandmother

The central square-cut diamond is ringed by six diamond baguettes.Zara Phillips Mike Tindall gave Princess Anne's daughter Zara a single solitaire diamond ring set on a platinum band encrusted with small set diamonds

The Duke and Duchess, who married in May 2018, have been barely able to contain their joy since announcing their baby news

What might the couple name their new arrival. Bookies have Victoria as the favourite for the royal child

It has been the most popular selection with the firm since the couple announced they were expecting a child

"Victoria has been the most popular name in our Royal baby betting by some distance therefore it is the clear favourite ahead of Albert, Diana and Philip," said Coral's John Hill
