What is sewage sludge? What does sewage sludge mean? Sewage sludge is the

remaining semi-solid material that is left over after the cleaned up water is

discharged from a sewage treatment works. It is the solid material which settles

out from municipal or industrial wastewater when the foul sewage is de-gritted

and held in large tanks, for between half an hour to, one and a half

hours, on arrival at a sewage works. These are called wastewater treatment works by

utility companies. Fresh sewage waste-water flows first, into a grit chamber

this is a long narrow tank that is designed to slow down the flow, so that

solids such as sand and grit, plus things like coffee-grounds and eggshells will

settle out of the water. It then flows into a primary settlement tank. In the

primary settlement tank, approximately 50% of the suspended solid matter will

settle out, in an hour and a half, in which time, on average, the sewage stays

in the tank. The water overflows through weir's on the surface, and goes on for

further cleaning (treatment). What remains in the primary settlement tank is a

collection of solids known as raw sewage sludge (or primary solids), it is said to

be fresh at the start, but soon the dissolved air is used up. In anaerobic

processes decomposition (or rotting) without air oxygen, becomes active. This

sludge would start to rot, and become putrescent in a short time, once

anaerobic bacteria take over and produce an unpleasant odor. So, it is removed from

the primary settlement tank (also called a sedimentation tank), before this happens.

Usually the fresh sewage sludge is continuously extracted from the tank.

Using mechanical scrapers, it is passed on in a number of ways for further

treatment and disposal. Examples of the ways further treatment is achieved are;

activated sludge aeration (extended aeration), Imhoff tanks, and Up-flow

Anaerobic Sludge Blanket UASB reactors. Imhoff tanks work in the absence of

air (oxygen), and provide a form of anaerobic digestion treatment. Imhoff

tanks are used infrequently now, as the digestion process (at the low

temperatures of unheated sewage) is slow. This means very large and costly to

build tanks. UASBs are another method which uses a combination of aerobic and

anaerobic treatment zones. Aeration (extended aeration) is what takes place in

most sewage works. And, aeration itself results in yet more sewage sludge return

activated sludge mass being produced. Now we will conclude by summarizing this

video. You asked what is sewage sludge? - and we answered by saying: "sewage sludge"

is the general term for all the sludge produced at a sewage works by all the

above processes. Click the link below to find out more.

What if Deadpool Was Real? - Duration: 6:47.

Hello Internet - and welcome back to the most inquisitive channel on YouTube - Life's

Biggest Questions - the only place on the world wide web where you can slide open the

fourth wall - question your own sanity before tragically realising that, no, nope - no one's

listening.

What's going on Questioneers - as always I'll be your disembodied floating voice

Jack Finch - as we existentially prod a self-aware 2D immortal superhero - and comically ask

the marvellous question - What If Deadpool Was Real?

Roll the clip.

Now before we tackle this behemoth of a reality bending question, I've got a question for

you - oo, spooky - double-questioning bonanza - it's simple, really though.

Over here at Life's Biggest Questions - we'd like to find out what makes you guys tick,

and what topics and themes you'd like to see covered in our next series of videos.

Why don't you slap down a monkey's paw in the comment section below - be careful

what you wish for - and maybe we'll just read out your best suggestions or witty remarks

in our next video.

Also - we've got to do the old bamboo once again, and you know how it is by now - if

you're a fan of this video, Deadpool, the Marvel Universe - or just Life's Biggest

Questions in general - please, be a dear and hit that thumbs up button - as well as that

subscribe bell so you can stay up to date with our latest and greatest questioning uploads.

Deadpool is a great superhero.

Fact.

Now I'm not in the business for bashing on any comic book hero - because they're

a great bunch for the most part - but Deadpool stands apart on an island of individuality

- a fundamentally original and unique incarnation of Stan Lee's Marvel Universe.

Wade Wilson AKA The Merc with a Mouth - had a pretty grim inception, and his origin story

is mired with painful scars, both physically and mentally.

One of those scars is the burden of self awareness - and before we ask What if Deadpool Was Real

- we have to acknowledge the fact that he'd more than likely be aware of us asking this

question.

Which is - woah.

Wade, can you hear me?

Erm - alright buddy, let's keep that to a minimum shall we?

The proto Deadpool - as we know him, and, well - as he knows himself - was birthed in

Canada in the form of Department K - a special weapons development branch of the Canadian

government - and part of the joint U.S Canadian superhuman enhancement project - Weapon X.

He was offered hope after developing 34 inoperable cancerous tumors - and his cancer was arrested

after being implemented with a certain well known mutants healing powers.

I'll give you a guess.

Hold up - Wade, I'm narrating this buddy.

After a disastrous mutant led mission - Wade's healing factor began to destabilize - bringing

his cancer back from remission and causing his trademark fleshy deformities.

Yeah - sorry about that one.

As a result he was rejected from the Weapon X program and sent to the suspiciously named

Hospice - allegedly a government facility for failed superhuman operatives to live out

the remainder of their short lives.

Unbeknownst to the Canadian government though, the Hospice was under the influence of Doctor

Killebrew - yeah, obvious surname is obvious - and his sadistic assistant Ajax.

Long story short, Wade Wilson didn't have the greatest time while under the care of

Doctor Killebrew and Ajax - as you can imagine - and to cut a longer story shorter, while

there Wade and his fellow patients placed bets in a dead - pool - wagering against how

long the each of them would live.

Hence the name - Deadpool.

Yeah, it's funny how those things work out, eh?

This is where our question splits into two distinct sections.

Firstly, Deadpool as a real life figure, and how his self awareness would affect his reality

- and secondly, how our civilization would harness the power of an immortal, self-regenerating

Big Dee Pee - because let's not beat around the bush, if Deadpool was real - he'd be

locked up in a science lab being farmed for organic tissue like a beautiful bald, hairless

- fleshy turkey.

As Rene Descartes once beautifully said - Cogito, ergo sum - I think, therefore I am.

On the basis of that philosophical proposition, this isn't a hypothetical Life's Biggest

Question at all - and as far as Deadpool goes, this is his own reality.

It also gets crazier because, to steal a Shower Thought from reddit user bubonis - If a toy

Deadpool appeared in a Toy Story movie - then he'd be aware that he's a toy in a Toy

Story movie - plus, he would know that his Toy self is a character from another movie

- that's also aware that he's in a movie from a comic book - PLUS - he'd know that

his existence is entirely owned by Disney.

That's like 24 broken walls and holy moly my head hurts.

Also, he'd also be aware that he's the subject of a YouTube video that's referencing

his own reference to those 24 broken walls of reality, so that's like 32 walls - and,

man, my head hurts.

It's in our second section - where Deadpool would truly be a superhero - and lead the

way to a new era of genetic medical breakthroughs.

Well, that's if we could get him to be complicit of course - although I'm sure he'd be

down for lending a helping hand, considering that throughout Deadpool Vol. 3 he's more

than willing to give out blood and tissue samples - even if it does take a few kidnappings.

Sorry, Wade - you're pretty much back to square one.

If Deadpool began his story by being forcefully kept in an experimental scientific facility

- painstakingly being tested on and constantly poked and prodded - then that's ultimately

how he'd end, too.

The power of a regenerative healing factor is just far too - well, powerful - paving

the way to a world where constant organ production is a real possibility.

Need a new heart?

Thanks Mr. Deadpool.

Lost your arm in an amateur chainsaw juggling contest?

Thanks Mr. Deadpool.

It'd be great - really.

What do you think, Wade?

Wait - Wade, where are you going?

I'll take that as a maybe then.

Well, unfortunately folks - you heard the man, that's all we've got time for in

today's video - but before we depart, let's read out some of the funniest stuff you guys

have had to say.

Duy Lai says - Hey LBQ can you answer my question - Who was our first ancestor?

Well Duy Lai, that's a broad question with many different answers, but science's best

bet at the moment is Ardi - a female hominid that lived over 4.4 million years ago - which

is pretty damn old.

Israel Savellano asks - What if everyone farted at the same time?

Well, buddy - let's hope we never find out - but huge props for such an insightful question,

it's that kind of thinking that got us to the Moon.

Cheers for sticking around all the way to the end guys - as always, I've been your

host Jack Finch - you've been watching Life's Biggest Questions - and until next time, you

take it easy.

What Is "Man School"? - Duration: 10:05.

Also something to keep in mind. Pretty basic, but: L.O.U.I.S.C.K.

Listen, only under intimate situations, caress knob.

[laughter]

Great.

It's been a year since the #MeToo movement made headlines,

and since then, we've realized there are creeps everywhere.

In Hollywood, on the news, in orange crocs...which we could've seen coming...

and now on the Supreme Court – for a second time!

It's caused many to redouble their efforts against sexual assault,

and others to miss the point completely.

It's a very scary time for young men in America.

REPORTER: Who are you scared most for, your sons or your daughters?

Right now, I'd say my sons.

Beyond the trolls though, some men are taking it upon themselves

to right the wrongs exposed by the #MeToo movement.

Meet Matthew Solomon.

I am an empowerment coach, I specialize in relationships and communication.

And I wrote the book "Man School: Relating With Women In The MeToo Era."

Do men need a class on not sending an unsolicited dick pic?

A whole class on that, maybe not, but as part of a class, evidently, because it happens all the time.

"Man School" covers topics like rape culture in movies, toxic masculinity,

and issues that have stumped dudes for millennia such as "Women are not men."

What compelled to write "Man School"?

Women started posting their stories with the hashtag MeToo.

And even knowing the magnitude of it, seeing it there was so humbling and it was so overwhelming.

But there were all these men who had no idea.

And they didn't know how to react and how to respond,

because they would speak up and do the stuff that people do.

Things like harassment, gaslighting, whataboutism, and telling women their experiences don't matter.

Yeah, we've been on the internet.

Do you find it ironic that you're a guy that has to explain all these things

that women have been saying for years?

No.

Why not?

Because I know that men haven't generally been listening to women for years.

So you're like mansplaining sexism which is...

To men.

It's like good mansplaining.

If you're mansplaining to men, maybe it's good.

If a man's mansplaining ... I don't know, I got lost in the space continuum of sexism.

Everything you're saying sounds great, but, like,

how do I know you're not like that guy who wears a feminist t-shirt

but then is secretly kind of a creep.

Yeah. I'm not.

You sure?

Yeah, I'm sure.

Ok Matthew. Let's put your methods to the test with a real Man School.

We gathered seven dudes in a room on a Friday to give them a lesson

in how to be one of the good guys in the MeToo era and also to hear from them.

Welcome to Man School: Unlearning 2000 Years of Patriarchy. Thank you for being here.

I would love to know from each of you what you hope to get out of today.

I realized how sexist I've been, and even not realizing that was a problem.

You know, it's been a continual process for me to learn

how to interact with women especially compared to, I don't know,

my freshman year of college where you get tons of bad advice.

I've been getting close in relationships but once I hit a certain point, I kinda screw it up.

I want to know from you guys, what are your fears?

Men are becoming uncomfortable in their own skin because of what we're seeing.

Is there a concern about where the line is?

What you can or can't do?

You know, there are people who legitimately...

when they interact sexually, like play violence or something like that.

I think that's maybe one thing that some guys are worried about.

There is that fear that, you know, hey

so you get with someone in Palm Springs during a film festival

and you have mad rocking sex because you drank a bunch of Tito's and soda...

Why does this example feel not hypothetical.

That's ok, they're sharing.

Why isn't there like a consent app?

People can sign in and you say yes or no. I think that would be -

I bet there is a consent app. I bet that exists.

But my understanding is that consent has to be a continual thing.

So even if you hit "Yes, I'm down right now,"

you have the right to change your mind,

unless the app is constantly sending you notifications to re-up the consent.

Oh my god. They are pitching an app.

Triggered.

So let me ask you this. What are some of things that you as men do to ensure your safety on a daily basis?

I try to have different passwords for all my different websites.

[laughter]

So in regards to personal safety, women have shared 34 things that they do on a daily basis.

Want me to read these?

Yeah.

34 things...

For their personal safety.

"Walk with our keys grasped between our fingers in case we need to use them as a weapon.

Never leave a drink unattended at a party.

Cross the street when we see men who look like they might be drunk." Definitely do that.

"Make sure we're not the only woman on the subway or bus.

Parking next to a lightpost when it's dark outside.

Decide not to open Facebook messages from unknown men

who could see the messages have been read and become hostile and harassing."

Yes you do become hostile.

It would never occur to me to do 90% of the stuff on that list,

but it's shocking to see you go "yup, yup yup" to everyone you recognized.

There's one I kind of have questions about details on, for example,

if you do happen to be walking behind a woman at night,

is it better to speed up and pass her, slow down, build distance?

I mean, what about bells?

[laughter]

Could also work. We have whistles, you have bells.

It's just a very merry sidewalk. What else can we do to make women feel safe?

Use our male privilege to call out problematic males.

Go out and affirmatively express your support

when there's an issue that's being discussed that's of importance to women.

Some orange-haired knucklehead a couple weeks ago said

it's a rough time for young men in this country.

We need to be held accountable, we need to educate ourselves, we need to educate our young sons.

Her experience is her experience, the thing that she's telling you, that's what happened.

So in other words, a helpful acronym -

B.R.A.H. Believe rape accounts, homie.

[laughter]

H.O.M.I.E: we believe those rape accounts with heart, open-mindedness, intelligence and empathy.

So we're gonna put that into practice.

Yeah let's put that into practice.

We need a volunteer.

Francesca is confiding in you something that happened,

possibly a MeToo moment or a story with someone who's been misbehaving so you get as a man,

get her experience and support her in that moment.

I know this is hard to hear, but your brother just grabbed my butt completely,

like two hands. Full palms.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I mean, I'm surprised to hear that but I'm really, really sorry to hear that.

Because that's not ok, that's not cool. Is there anything I can do?

Just tell him not to touch your friends. Or tell him not to touch anyone.

Obviously. Yeah.

Awesome, how was that?

I'm thinking about my own brothers. I can't imagine that happening with my own brothers

so it was hard for me to put myself in a place where I would relate to that,

but I suppose in life you have to get over that because there are people in your life that are gonna surprise you.

For this next scenario,

Francesca's gonna be playing the man who's saying inappropriate things about women,

so Juan here gets to speak up and be an ally.

Brett is a really good guy like I don't know what all these women are talking about.

I never saw Brett act that way. I've known him for years.

But you're a dude, you're not gonna see it with him.

But I was with him through all of high school, prep school, college.

Obviously she's doing it for the money and for the fame.

Name one of Cosby's accusers. One that got famous.

Um, there's a tennis player.

Time out. Awesome.

So in this scenario we're getting into the debate. Right?

What if instead of arguing the facts, you came from, "what do you suppose it was like for her?"

Interesting, so I'm supposed to get him to empathize with the victim.

Try that.

OK, Cool.

How about you have evidence of the rape before you go around accusing a bunch of men...

Am I really friends with this dude?

[laughter]

Dude what are you talking about? You've known me forever! It's Chad.

Three hours later and these males are finally ready to be released back into the wild.

You guys made it, you've done Man School! Give yourselves a round of applause.

And while there are no cookies for doing the right thing in real life,

there are in Man School. And prizes.

I learned about B.R.A.H. Believe rape accounts, homie ...

I need to be more sympathetic in conversation and ask more questions,

I think are the big two things to take away.

You don't really get too many opportunities to see people open up

and actually express what their innermost thoughts and feelings are.

Especially men. So that was really refreshing for me.

What should women understand about men in the Metoo era?

That men are extremely sensitive.

You know we have feelings and emotions that we're not really taught that we're allowed to have those,

and then we sure as heck can't express those.

Do you think there should be a Man School?

Absolutely. I think there should be a Man School, a teen school.

Relationships and communication should be taught as part of curriculum.

So will men ever be able to unlearn patriarchy?

Maybe not after one class, but hey, the first step is showing up.

Raheem Sterling tells police he WAS racially abused by Chelsea fan - Duration: 9:38.

Raheem Sterling has told police he was aware of being racially abused at Stamford Bridge

Sterling was interviewed by members of the Metropolitan Police on Sunday, who travelled north as part of their investigation into an incident during Manchester City's match with Chelsea

And the England star confirmed he had heard racist insults and other foul language as he went to collect a ball for a corner near the Matthew Harding Stand

RAHEEM STERLING STATEMENT  Raheem Sterling posted a statement on Instagram on Sunday morning addressing the incident at Stamford Bridge

It read: 'Good morning. I just want to say I am not normally the person to talk a lot but when I think I need my point to (be) heard I will speak up

'Regarding what was said at the Chelsea game as you can see by my reaction I just had to laugh because I don't expect no better

'Sterling also said that he believed black players and white players were not treated equally by the media, including the Daily Mail and Mail Online, and that he believes this helps 'fuel racism and aggressive behaviour'

Sterling, who suffered the abuse on his 24th birthday before celebrating with his family on Sunday, appeared to confirm this in an Instagram post earlier in the day

'Good morning. I just want to say I am not normally the person to talk a lot but when I think I need my point to (be) heard I will speak up,' he said

'Regarding what was said at the Chelsea game, as you can see by my reaction I just had to laugh because I expect no better

'Sterling also said that he believed black players and white players were not treated equally by the media, including the Daily Mail and Mail Online, and that he believes this helps 'fuel racism and aggressive behaviour

'Whether Sterling saw the perpetrator, however, could be crucial to any criminal prosecution

As he was bending down to pick up the ball, he may not have got a clear view of the fan responsible

Footage began circulating on social media soon after the game that appeared to show a man in a blue top – who is believed to be known to Chelsea and the police – calling Sterling a 'f****** black c***'

Chelsea have told Manchester City the fan will be permanently banned from Stamford Bridge if firm evidence of racist abuse is provided

There has been speculation the word used may have been 'Manc' and not 'black'.On Sunday Chelsea were conducting their own investigation and are believed to have asked BT Sport, who were covering the game, for all camera angles of the incident

The broadcaster will also check pitch side microphones in case an audio record of the abuse exists

Sterling was spoken to by Manchester City's security personnel before the team departed Stamford Bridge, and his version of events was passed on to Chelsea and the police

It is believed this information sparked the visit to Manchester. The incident has provoked considerable debate with former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand calling for a protest, similar to Colin Kaepernick's decision to take the knee during the national anthem at NFL matches

Ferdinand posted: 'Are we going to continue to allow this type of racist behaviour go on? All for kicking a ball

In the NFL the players took to the knee.' He was referencing a movement spearheaded by former quarterback Kaepernick, who began a trend of kneeling in protest against racism in America

Kaepernick famously explained his position: 'I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of colour

'Ferdinand's younger brother Anton was racially abused in a match against Chelsea in 2011

Blues captain John Terry was banned for four matches and fined £220,000 after admitting using the word 'black' and swearing at Anton, although he claimed he had only been repeating words he thought the then-QPR defender had accused him of saying

Ferdinand's Instagram post attracted a comment from Wycombe striker Adebayo Akinfenwa, who wrote: 'We have to put a stop to this someway'

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright admitted he feared a return to the days when black players were targeted by racists in the crowd

Wright said: 'The bad old days are back. Chelsea you have been shamed by this disgusting racist fan

Absolutely no doubt about what he says.' Match of the Day host Gary Lineker branded the incident 'despicable' while BT Sport presenter Jake Humphrey said: 'If indeed it is proved to be racist abuse then I hope it's a lifetime ban

No place for it in this world.'A Chelsea spokesman said: 'We're aware of reports and video footage

We will investigate the matter and take the strongest possible action where necessary

'A Football Association statement read: 'We take all allegations of discrimination extremely seriously and will work with the clubs and the relevant authorities to ensure this matter is dealt with appropriately

'We strongly condemn all forms of discrimination and encourage all fans and participants who believe that they have been the subject of, or witness to, discriminatory abuse to report it through the appropriate channels: The FA, our County FAs or our partners Kick It Out

'The Met Police said: 'We are aware of a video circulating online in which it is claimed racial abuse was allegedly directed at a player at a Chelsea v Manchester City game at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, December 8

'We will review the footage to determine whether any offences have been committed

'No arrests have been made, the Met added.Should any offence have been committed, a life ban could be handed to the supporter responsible

Anti-discrimination charity Kick It Out later issued a statement, which read: 'We've received reports from a variety of sources about an incident of alleged racist abuse at the Chelsea-Manchester City game

'We will forward those to Chelsea and offer our support in their investigation.'Yet another great day of football damaged by prejudice

'Lord Ouseley, founder of Kick it Out, added: 'What happened at Chelsea shows what is still going on in football

'Where is Richard Scudamore? Where is Greg Clarke? Where is Chelsea's chairman [Bruce Buck]? They should have been talking about [the Sterling incident] last night and it has to be dealt with at the top

'We do not have any leadership at the top of the game to speak out, they rely on Kick It Out

We have already made comments about the way Raheem Sterling has been treated differently by the media

The print media often targets, not just black players, but all footballers.'Raheem Sterling has received bad press over the last few years because of his lifestyle, and clearly, there are issues from potential stories adding to prejudice and I have every sympathy for him

'Players know if they are abused in any way they have to tell the referee. It was awful

All players know the referee is in charge and has a duty of care, and the referee can remove those people

It didn't appear to me he told the referee in the first place.'
