Welcome to the California School Dashboard.

Let the conversations begin.

How many students graduated on time at my son's high school?

Are students learning what they need to in English and math?

What's our district doing to get more parents and families engaged in real ways?

The California School Dashboard is the place you can get more information about each of

these questions -- and more.

The Dashboard helps us all – parents, families, students, teachers – see how well our schools

and students are doing and where improvement is needed.

I heard fewer students got suspended last year – is that true?

What's my district doing to make sure students and teachers feel safe?

Think of the Dashboard as the ultimate conversation starter.

The information helps us talk to each other and with teachers and school leaders about

what's actually going on in our schools.

It helps us think about what additional questions we want to ask and where to find those answers.

Like what programs are working well in our district?

Or what's being done to help students who are falling behind?

Or which schools need more attention?

Right.

The Dashboard provides information that helps us have more informed conversations that lead

to better planning and better results for kids.

Plus, it's an important way to hold our schools accountable, to see if they're making

progress over time.

That seems like a lot to ask.

It is.

But the future success of all of our kids – and our state – depends on how well

our schools are doing.

It all starts with looking up your schools and learning more.

So start looking…And let the conversations begin.

#1 Travelday! We're Going Back To California & Disneyland! - Duration: 14:24.

Ice Tea Green on the early morning. Always a good idea. Right, Jordy?

It's even better when you'll be on a plane.

Well, here we are again. - Yes.

This time, I got some Ice Tea Green instead of coffee. Everything goes wrong. - Everything goes wrong dude. Everything.

Do you know what's also is different this time? - No? - We're not alone. - No, we're not alone.

We got some extras this time. (I'll not join the vlog...)

What did you say?

Introduce yourself. Who are you? - No.

You won't say it? - I'm Maurice.

Maurice who? - Maurice Odekerken. The father of the boys.

It's you first time in the vlog. Wave to the Camera. - Hi.

And ofcourse, Our mother. You may know her from some vlogs of Disneyland Paris. Hi.

Hi. - Where are you off to?

America. - How long will you be on the flight? - Oh, please stop.

Watch out, hope you won't miss your flight.(Mist = Fog in Dutch.)

Yes, Jordy is being a real Goofball this morning. - Always.

Snap your fingers.

This was Jordy at 07:20 AM at Hotel Van Der Valk Schiphol.

I've always been a morning person. - "Morning person".

So, it's November again. Last year we went to Los Angeles around this time. And now we're going again. It's a new Holiday Tradition.

Christmas in Anaheim, Los Angeles.

i always say Anaheim, because there's Disney. But we're going to see much more this time.

But still... We're going to Disney for six days.

So, today it's November 16 and we're leaving today.

Tonight we're going to Downtown Disney. That's something we have to do on our travel day. - Yes indeed.

What are we going to do on sunday? - We're going to Disney.

And what's happening on that day? - Then it's Mickey's birthday.

Mickey Mouse will turning 90 on sunday. - 90 years. Unbelievable. Time flies.

Yes indeed,. It's 08:05 AM and we have to wait till 09:30 AM till we can start with boarding.

08:05 AM indeed. Good time.

We'll see each other. - Yes, I'm sure about that.

My food is gone. - Heeeyy.

"Because you care". - Give me.

We're at the gate.

We have delay for 10 minutes. But we're used to get a delay. We always have a delay. - Yes, always.

So, we're going to Switzerland. Our first stop. Let's go.

Look, there is our mother. Hello Mother.

Wave.

Our father. Hello.

Our first flight will be about 1 hour to Zürich.

I am ready. It's cold and I need some heat.

Yes? Are you ready for it? - Yes, I want to go to Switzerland. I was there last year for one hour and I really wanna go back.

Yes it was good. - Quick visit to search for our flight.

As you may notice, I'm wearing my glasses. Jordy lost his glasses. And he was a little bit too lazy to get a new one.

Where did you lose your glasses? - He is in Florida.

Somewhere in Florida. - I know exactly where.

Yes. First Hotel in Florida last year.

But I got mine.

Let's fly. Let's go fly a plane.

Well, we're in Zürich. Automatic Pasport Control seems to be a struggle for our parents.

Now we're going into a funny metro. We didn't show you that last year but it's a metro with projections

And this Metro will bring you to the gate. We have to go to gate E.

Yep, and now we're in Switzerland.

And now we're, almost, finally going back to Los Angeles. I've missed it so much.

This is just amazing. Because we had little delay we can now just walk to our gate and almost can start with boarding for our flight to Los Angeles.

Very nice. - A quick visit to toilet. And then starting with boarding.

Ideal. No luggage control anymore. Because we already had a control at Schiphol. Very nice. No double check.

Check, check, double check. - I want to go to Los Angeles. - I want to go to the toilet.

I also need to go to the toilet.

Here we go.

Jordy? I just awaked after a nap. I thought I slept for a long time. But I looked to the screen how long we have to flight and thought...

Jakutsk ( Yeah fuck ).

Take me ( "Pak me dan" in Dutch)

This flight is so long. But it's a good thing that they're having some good movies over here.

But I don't take the time to see a movie in plane.

I just want to see everything on this little screen. Where we are etc.

Where we are at this moment... Let's see. Well, we can almost see Los Angeles.

We're flying here above For McMurray.

Not sure if that is in the US of Canada.

But we wanna go over here.

Over here.

And I really wanna go over here.

We still have to fly 4 hours and 9 minutes. It should be around 15:50 PM when we'll arrive. So, we can have a lovely evening in Los Angeles, Anaheim.

And now, I'm going to sleep.

Jor, we're back at Disneyland. - Well, Downtown Disney.

Downtown Disney. Guys, what a day.

We had a terrible Uber ride. - It was so bad.

That man was smelling like shit and he drove really bad.

He wasn't good in anticipating. The car was really small. But we're here.

He was talking about Youtube. So, maybe he's watching right now.

Maybe he knew who we were.

But we're back in Downtown Disney, we walked around, first time for our parents.

We had a drink at... Something I don't know. - Hey, where are those two

Where are they?

They're still at the restaurant.

No, we just took a look over here. They put our beloved RainForest away from here.

And also the AMC Theatre. Where we watched some really good movies. LaLa Land and Coco.

That's not possible this trip. But the atmosphere is so good over here.

We have to keep an eye on the time. We're walking to the esplanade. Where you can see Disneyland & DCA.

And if we're there on time we can see some firwork. Can't wait.

Seeing some firework.

I have to say. We had a drink in the middle of Downtown Disney.

Our parents wanted to pay but I think they've got no idea how expensive it should be.

I think it will be very expensive. So, I'm curious.

But we're back. I'm excited. Disney Balloons.

We already went to the new World of Disney store. We will show that later. But it's really nice. All new stuff. - Nice.

Yes. You can see Tinkerbell flying around.

I'm so happy to be back. And it's Christmas!

Christmas trees. Jordy's.

Yes. - More trees.

I love it here.

Look, there they are! - 23 Dollars.

Wave.

23 Dollars...!

I told you.

Look, they also got a home store over here.

That's also new. All new stuff. Everything that you can use at home.

Let's take a look.

Everything is Christmas themed right now. This isn't really something you really need at home but look how amazing!

OMG. Can you even imagine. Senna in this suit.

I don't.

She will going to be crazy. - Or a ghost host.

But this is fun. These trays.

This thing for Senna.

This little fur thing.

She can play with this like...

This is also fun for the dog.

This is genius. You have a dog as Ghost Host. Senna as Ghost Host.

Amazing stuff over here for you dog.

R2D2. Dart Vader. A Stormtrooper.

This is just amazing. - Senna as a Stormtrooper.

I want everything from the Haunted Mansion.

Omg, This Christmas Ornament.

Give me.

Can you even have a better start your journey then watching some firework at Disneyland?

It's beautiful. - And we're standing in front of Disneyland again.

And look.

California Adventure. - Yeah.

We're enjoying the firework over here and then our journey will begin. I'm excited.

Oh jor, so amazing that we could the fireworks already. Love it.

It's still going on. But we're going to Disney's Grand Californian Hotel.

To tease ourself. Our trip has been started. We'll be here for 2,5 weeks.

And the last five days of our trip we will stay at the Grand Californian.

So we wanna show our parents what we booked.

How beautiful it is over there. - And also how beautiful it will be over there.

And over there! There is another park.

Look there they are. Hi!!

They're speechless.

Omg. What a Hotel.

So amazing over here.

I can't wait.

Oh Jor, something with traditions.

First evening in America we're always going to have a diner at Denny's.

Enjoy!

I'm always a fan of traditions.

A lovely chicken burger with seasoned fries.

And Jordy isn't really hungry today. He got a caesar salad. Looks amazing.

You can say that. - Enjoy.

That chicken! - Smell the chicken.

They can't smell it... - I'm sure they can.

They can't.

Anyway...

I'm going to enjoy these seasoned fries.

We're die hard jetlag survivors. At the moment it's 23:40 PM. And it's dark.

So, we're die hard jetlag survivors. It's 23:45 PM and we're going to our Hotel right now.

A little bit tired. - Yes, it was a long day.

Where are we? 116?

We got this hotel for a week.

And we have to knock on the door. Our parents are already on the room.

Open the room!

Till the next one. Bye bye.

They're idiots.

California becomes the first state. to require ALL new homes to be powered by solar energy - Duration: 4:32.

California officially becomes the first state in the U.S. to require ALL new homes to be powered by solar energy

California has become the first state in the U.S. to mandate that all new homes built in the Golden State must be solar powered, after law makers passed a historic vote on Wednesday.

The initiative, which will come into action in 2020, has been passed unanimously by the California Building Standards Commission and will see all homes in the area equipped with more sustainable energy sources.

Members of the board declared the move as a 'historical undertaking' that should act as 'a beacon of light' for the rest of the country to follow.

Coming as a fulfillment of a 10-year initiative to make the state more reliant on clean renewable energy, the move will bring solar power into mainstream use in a way it has never been before.

Upholding a May 9 vote by the California Energy Commission, the Building Standards Commission's seal of approval made the motion official on December 5.

However, despite the rapturous applause the bill's passing was met with, there are some opposed to the new provisions because of the additional costs homeowners will now incur.

The solar furnishings add an estimated $10,000 to the cost of building a single-family home – including more than $8,400 for installing panels and roughly $1,500 for energy efficiency.

The added expenses come at a time when affordable housing in California is already scarce - the state's house prices are already double the national average.

Additional worries were also raised on behalf of the victims of last month's devastating California wildfires, which destroyed more than 10,000 structures and left thousands of families homeless.

The concern was that those seeking to rebuild in the wake of the disaster may not be able to afford the additional up-front charges. The committee however stated this wouldn't be an issue.

California homeowners will have the option to either pay the costs up front or sign a 'power purchase agreement,' which pays for the electricity without buying the panels, according to an official with the California Energy Commission.

'The homeowners will be able to save money from the day they walk in the door,' said Kelly Knutsen, technology advancement director for the California Solar & Storage Association, to The Orange County Register.

Knutsen added: 'This is a historical policy. California is leading the country in clean energy, clean air and fighting climate change, all while saving consumers money.'.

Officials also say the 30-year lifespan of the solar panels will offset the utility bills, helping families save up to $500 a year.

Kent Sasaki, a structural engineer and one of six commissioners voting for the new energy code, added: 'These provisions really are historic and will be a beacon of light for the rest of the country.

'(It's) the beginning of substantial improvement in how we produce energy and reduce the consumption of fossil fuels.
