how to style and dress well fashion mistakes and style tips do you have

trouble figuring out how to style yourself or how to dress well fashion

trends come and go and let's face it everyone has made fashion mistakes

before we all have wondered how to style ourselves from wondering how to stop a

sweater from shredding or how to properly tuck in our non skinny jeans

into our boots we've all probably wondered what to wear at one point or

another and mistakenly made a fashion faux pas without even knowing it and at

the very least we have wondered why some clothes and fashion trends accentuate

other certain people's bodies while leaving ours looking like a box it's not

hard to figure out how to style yourself all you just need to know is a few basic

fashion tips and tricks keep watching for some of the most common fashion

mistakes people make and how to look stylish by avoiding these mistakes

before we begin this video make sure you subscribe to our channel so that you

don't miss out on all of the awesome life hacks fashion tips and outfit ideas

from your number one bestie number sixteen accessorizing appropriately

here's a tip on how to look stylish always pick the accessory after you've

picked out your outfit if you are wearing understated clothes than a bold

accessory choice suits well it's important to remember not to make

fashion faux pas and overdo it with accessories if you have rings bracelets

earrings and a necklace on it may become too much try for two of these options

then match them so they appear the same one common fashion mistake to avoid when

it comes to necklaces is that not all of them go with every neckline number 15

tuck properly wondering what to wear but don't have

any shirts that you can tuck in well there are actually many different

tucking rules that apply to different outfit ideas when wearing a fitted shirt

matched with a pair of jeans or dress pants it's good to tuck in the entire

shirt yet when wearing an a-line skirt and a baggy shirt a knot tied at the

center of the stomach works better it's important to remember that not all

shirts need to be tightly tucked sometimes loose is more if you like

tucked in fashion trends remember this fashion tip did you know

that there is one common fashion mistake that most people wear but if they wear

it right it's actually not a fashion mistake at all well stick around until

the very end to find out what it is number 14 know which undershirt to wear

wondering how to style yourself with a simple sweater well a fashion trend

that's been happening for a long time that should really be stopped is wearing

a collared shirt underneath a sweater while this look is super fashionable it

causes the sweater to crease due to the undershirt next time you wear these type

of fashion trends try putting a tight and smooth tank top between the two

shirts this is sure to take out any wrinkles that will form number thirteen

cuff jeans always cuff your jeans when wearing ankle boots uncuffed jeans take

away from the design of the boots and shorten your legs so put this on your

list of fashion mistakes to avoid some people cuff their jeans just enough so

that there's no legs showing between the boot and the cuff to properly cuff roll

the jeans a few times tightly so that there is an inch or two of leg showing

number 12 roll sleeves in the fall long-sleeve shirts are everyone's go-to

especially button-down ones on cooler days you can leave the sleeves down but

on warmer days you can roll them up yet many people roll their sleeves the wrong

way causing wrinkles an unflattering shape

this is one of the worst fashion mistakes you can make if you're

wondering what to wear in the colder months make sure you roll your sleeves

up correctly number eleven prevent pillage everyone's sweaters are subject

to pillage the problem comes when no one does anything to help prevent the

pillage from happening some preventive fashion tips are to use a lint roller

before going out this will take the majority of pillage away to continue

keeping the pillage away and it take better care of your sweater turn the

sweater inside out when washing number 10

hairspray tights when wearing a skirt shorts or a dress it's popular to wear

tights underneath it's a great way of keeping your legs slightly warmer on a

colder day and adds a layer which gives an outfit a fashionable look the problem

is that many nylons and tights rip or run one way to prevent these runs is to

spray hairspray onto your tights make sure to do this before putting on your

tights and not while you're wearing them number 9

cinch cinch cinch there are certain dresses that many women love to wear

they are the ones that are looser and appear like they accentuate your hips

yet when we put them on they make us look like we're wearing a bag talk about

a fashion faux pas instead of settling for this bag look you can cinch the

dress in the back to do so make a knot in the front of the dress so that it

appears like a built-in belt or like the dress was already made that way which is

even better this will make the dress hug your figure and give you that look

you've envisioned when you dress number eight don't be afraid of using a belt do

you know how to look stylish when you're wearing a belt a lot of people think

that wearing belts over your shirt or dress is something we did in the early

2000s while that is true using a belt is able to save a lot of fashion looks when

wearing a dress shirt and a skirt try adding a belt around your waist or even

better when wearing a dress use a belt hug your waist using the belt will make

your outfit stand out as well as accentuate your figure number 7 pair

colors that work together this is where a lot of people make fashion mistakes

it's hard to know what colors go well together and it's easy to make a

disastrous mix-and-match mistake to play it safe try the monochromatic look mix

and match different shades of the same color with everything you wear this is

the way to make sure that everything you're wearing will match

just remember to pair the outfit with a different colored accessory number 6

think about shoes last once you have your outfit picked out that is when you

should start looking for shoes to wear a major fashion mistake is picking out

shoes you are going to wear before you've picked out your outfit many shoes

don't go with many outfit ideas leading to major fashion flaws open toe heels

tend to work better with skinny jeans shirts and dresses while boot heels go

better with jeans number 5 flatiron any and all callers for many women that wear

dress blouses it's hard to keep their callers from creasing during the day it

seems that no matter what effort you put into keeping them straight they wrinkle

anyways one surefire way to stop these creases from happening is to flatiron

your callers the night or the morning before you wear them the temperature and

steam will force the callers to stay straight all day number four all jeans

tuck into tall boots everyone faces the challenge of fitting their non skinny

jeans into tall boots the common fashion fail is that the jeans end up being

baggy near the calf area and won't fit inside the boot at all one way to stop

this from happening is by vertically folding your jeans and wearing high

socks to trap the Jean tightly in place this is sure to fix the stubborn fashion

mistake number three double-sided tape for buttoned outs no matter how

expensive or inexpensive a button-down shirt is there's always the chance of

those sneaky gaps have you know which sneaky gaps I'm talking

about the ones that act as a peephole for your upper region the best way to

stop this from happening is to buy double-sided tape and place a small

strip in between the buttons that will certainly stop the gaps from forming

number two knot it another way of ramping up an

outfit is by knotting a shirt rather than tucking it if you're wearing tight

jeans leggings or skirts then knot the top you have on you can either knot it

in the back or in the front if you want to take it to another level

try knotting it on the side of your hip this will bring dimension to your outfit

and make it more eye-catching this technique works best when you're wearing

a line skirts now that you've made it to the end here is the one questionable

fashion trend that may be fashionable if you do it right

number one sweatpants wondering how to style yourself with sweatpants well it's

not easy but it is possible people will always say that sweatpants are

unfashionable but the truth is they are the problem comes when people don't

dress them up but wear them like they just came from the gym the next time you

wear sweatpants for fashion pair them with a nice pair of kicks and a

figure-hugging t-shirt and why not throw on a classy jacket this will surely make

the sweatpants look like a must-have so there you have it

common fashion mistakes to avoid do you have any outfit ideas or tips on how to

dress well let us know in the comments section below

How A Fashion Influencer Packs 29 Looks For Holiday Travel | Hauliday VR | Refinery29 - Duration: 5:20.

Hey guys, it's Alyssa here and I'm really excited to show you

how I pack to go home for the holidays.

But get this.

We actually shot this in virtual reality.

So if you really want to feel like you're here just hit the icon in the play bar,

pop this headset on and boom it's like you're in my room.

3D realness.

I love to travel and I'm down to check out a new place just about every weekend.

But it's not all the time I get to go home and see my family and hang with my parents,

so I have a few essentials I like to bring to make sure I'm warm and cozy on the plane.

First and foremost, this is an essential.

It's a giant blanket scarf.

Bundle up, like this, and you're good to go.

I even top it off with a cute little sleep mask.

To just go full nap mode.

Good night everyone.

I'll catch you in Florida.

There are those days when you just wake up and you don't even know what you want to wear.

I like to start packing with a few basic essentials.

These are my personal favorites right now.

They're just a nice, classic, dark wash jeans and then you just pair those with the classic white t-shirt.

The final basic item that I like to bring is a classic black leather jacket.

I tend to be really vintage inspired but it also feels really modern at the same time.

It's just like a classic outfit, no matter the decade.

So even though I'm from Florida where it's literally warm all year round, I still like

to bring some cozy essentials home to lounge around in and that usually starts with the

comfiest pants that I own which are these cashmere sweatpants.

This is a life of luxury, people.

Honestly I don't even know why I'm back in the rest of this.

I'm probably gonna wear these the entire time.

And some comfy sweaters, some comfy knits.

It's like, it's pumpkin spice season.

Just get cuddly, get cozy.

You'll probably find me in one of these cozy festive sweaters just baking cookies, sitting by

the Christmas tree, taking selfies and you know if there happens to be an impromptu family

photo shoot they'll still look cute and festive.

You also have to bring some pajamas home for the holidays.

Step it up a notch with some silky PJ's.

We got this little lip print.

And you're probably going to stay in these literally all day long until someone forces

you to change for dinner.

I am notoriously an over packer, but I try to avoid that by packing some really versatile

fashion pieces.

This outfit does itself.

This one actually has a matching skirt or you can mix it up wear the shirt open over

the T-shirt.

I love this little T-shirt pillow dress because it's casual but I could wear this to like

the grocery store with my mom and then you can never have too many layer-able items like a

fun turtleneck that can be thrown on.

You don't really get to wear corduroy any other time of year.

So I love to pack a classic pair of corduroys.

I really love these elastic-waist pants because there is gonna be a lot of eating happening

and you know who needs restrictive clothing over the holidays.

I happen to love these white combat boots because they're super comfy.

I also love a more festive heel.

I'm going to bring them home where I can wear them on the couch when I count down to New Years.

I have two more trusty pairs, a classic white sneaker,

also I've got some sparkly booties and these are good for going out with friends, maybe

a little nightlife.

There's no nightlife in Florida, I don't know what I'm saying.

I want to see some people, do some things and these will be good for that.

I'm clearly a bit of a shoe over packer.

What do you guys over pack the most?

Let me know in the comments below.

Let's not forget accessories.

And lucky me I get to hit the beach.

So I'm gonna bring one bathing suit.

There could be a hot tub.

There could be like a slip inside.

I love fanny packs.

Ultimate Florida outfit, right here.

New Year's.

I think I'm going to go more of the metallic route this New Year's.

This dress is amazing.

I've been waiting for an occasion to wear this.

So it's definitely gonna come home with me for that big New Year's Eve night.

In case I don't want to do the dress, I have this little metallic mini or a classic little

slip skirt.

These are really easy pieces to kind of just throw on and feel dressed up because they're

shiny and fun.

I can't thank you guys enough for helping me through this whole packing situation.

But before we go I want to leave you with three solid tips for packing your suitcase

Tip number one:

Definitely keep it cozy.

Tip number two:

Don't forget those festive pieces.

Tip number three:

For everything else just make sure you keep it versatile and just a hot tip since now

I have to figure out how to get all of this into a suitcase.

I tend to roll things in my suitcase, instead of just piling them in.

I gotta go figure the situation out but I'll see you next time.

And happy holidays.

Thank you guys so much for helping me pack.

Fashion Expert Clinton Kelly Tells You How To Save Vs. Splurge With Your Wardrobe - Daily News - Duration: 3:09.

With the weather changing, and tons of holiday sales happening(!), you may have the itch to buy a whole new wardrobe! An expert fashion consultant is offering his EXCLUSIVE tips on what to buy this winter!    We were able to chat with fashion expert Clinton Kelly, who told HollywoodLife

com EXCLUSIVELY what we need to wear this fall and winter! "A trending color we're seeing for fall is burgundy," Clinton tells us

"You can try this classic autumn hue in a sweater or jacket, or try it as a seasonal pop of color in a scarf or leather handbag

Violet is another fun trending color we're seeing trickle in from summer to fall

You can try it in an accessory or go bold with a violet peacoat." Winter doesn't officially start until Dec 21, so wear those jewel-tones all month with pride!    We spoke to Clinton at a Marshalls event, where it's easy to find designer pieces for less

We asked about his top deal tips. "I love splurging on exciting and special pieces that I'll wear season after season

A great piece to splurge on this fall is a moto jacket. While I love a classic brown or black jacket, I also really like the statement colors I'm seeing this season like red and metallic

Marshalls is my go-to for updating my wardrobe each season because I can always find a fresh mix of high-quality brands and styles — I'm able to get the quality 'splurge-worthy' pieces I'm searching for at amazing prices

When it comes to basics like long sleeved shirts for layering or oversized sweaters, I like to search for great prices so I can save for special pieces

" We love wearing bright colors, but do too many bold shades clash? Clinton says, be fearless! "The 80s and 90s are back! I'm loving the neon sweaters and jackets I'm currently seeing

I love that you can pair an orange neon sweater with black and white plaid pants for a fun retro-inspired look – it reminds me of my high school days! Marshalls has a great assortment of the latest trends and with such incredible prices, it's fun to experiment with the latest looks of the season

"    Another great money and time-saving tip is to pick pieces that will really last

"The trick to making clothes last for more than one season is to ensure you're properly caring for the garment

When I'm buying knits or cashmere especially, I make sure that I'm checking the tags carefully before I potentially throw them in my washer

I also recommend folding your sweaters (versus hanging them) to help maintain their shape

And if you're tight on space, try folding the sweater over a hanger to make sure they aren't stretched and look their best next season

"

FASHION BOOK REVIEW 5: The Devil Wears Prada Compared To A Real Fashion Magazine - Duration: 5:03.

This is The Devil Wears Prada. The novel before the movie came out. And it's a

really good sort of like quick pleasure read. You can kind of see it's not very

thick. It's a pretty light paperback version anyway. The Devil Wears Prada is

a book written by Lauren Weisberger and published in 2003. Weisberger says

the story was partial fiction and partial first job experiences of her and

her friends. This book was turned into a movie in 2006 starring Meryl Streep,

Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt. Parts of the book remind me of my time interning at

Elle magazine. Andy's tasks as an assistant overlap with some of the

things I did as an intern. There was some hierarchical culture but my experience

wasn't nearly as negative or dramatic as the book's storyline and tone. I had a

great time interning at Elle and learned a lot. It was my one and only experience

in fashion media as I've worked my whole career as a fashion designer which has a

very different culture than fashion media. There were certain unspoken

expectations like you should be dressed in the latest fashions and wear at least

some designer brands if you wanted to fit in. And there was a sense of deep

respect for the creative vision of the higher-ups that ran the magazine. In The

Devil Wears Prada Andy clearly feels out of place in fashion media. The

fashion industry does sometimes have a way of making you feel out of place even

if you've been in the industry for a while and this isn't even just fashion

media. I've felt this way at fashion industry events and on numerous fashion

design interviews. I've been on interviews where they looked

particularly disappointed with what I wore to the interview which I believe

had a big influence in my not getting a job. But that's fashion. The fashion

industry definitely has its own sort of interview outfit culture that's

different from mainstream corporate America. There's a certain ideal

interview style. A balance of quality professionalism and edge which I'm sure

I hadn't mastered in my younger interviewing days. And I'll admit that. It

seems shallow but a big part of the fashion industry is clothes. In the book

Andy gets the job offer on a Friday morning and the HR person wants her to start

on Monday morning three days later. This is typical in the fashion industry. In my

experience when hiring a company usually wants you to start right away. Since I've

only worked in the fashion industry I thought this was typical everywhere.

Apparently it's not. There are other industries like tech, where from getting

the job offer you can start anywhere from one to six months later which gives

you time to quit your current job, end on good terms, and accommodate them if they

need you for longer to train your replacement. Plus you can potentially

take a few months break in between jobs to rest and reset while still

having the security of a job waiting for you. It would

be amazing to have this in fashion but I've never seen it. In the book

Andy hand delivers designer clothes all over the city using a car service. This

is really common at magazines. I went on many car service rides picking up

garments from designers and dropping off other garments. The urgency for which

garments need to be picked up and returned for events and photoshoots

means a shipping service doesn't always work and some garments are too expensive

to leave in the hands of a shipping service so many magazines prefer sending

interns or assistants with a car service. I remember a time when I was interning

for Elle that I was delivering and picking up an assortment of fur coats. By

the time I got back to the office I probably had ten fur coats each weighing

at least 10 pounds. Those things are heavy.

And I couldn't carry them all at the same time. The driver helped me carry

them to the elevator but then had to go. And when the elevator came I started

loading them in by myself and the door closed with three or four fur coats

inside and me on the outside of the elevator on the first floor lobby.

I almost had a heart attack as I furiously press the up-arrow and I watched the

numbers above the elevator door go higher and higher and I pictured the

coats getting further and further away from me and watching slowly as the

numbers came back down hoping and praying that those coats would still be

in the elevator when it arrived back on one. It was probably the longest two

minutes of my life. To my relief they were still on the elevator floor plus

six people that worked in the building coming down for lunch looking confused

as to why fur coats were taking the elevator all by themselves. That was so

stressful. Nina Garcia at the time was the fashion director of Elle magazine.

Once when Nina was about to come into the office we were told by someone not

to look her in the eye and I thought this was kind of silly but I understand

this was probably just one person's idea of showing respect. Joe Zee was Elle's

creative director while I was there and I sometimes got his mail for him. And I

was told to just put his mail on his desk and not to talk to him. But I

remember one time he ended up speaking to me and showing me his most recent

styled photoshoot in the latest edition of Elle. And he was always very friendly

but I was so worried that I was going to get in trouble even though he started a

conversation with me. But it was nice we talked about this Chanel penguin sweater

in a photo shoot and we were talking about how cute and playful it was. I had

a great time at Elle and like anywhere there were tight deadlines and some

stressful situations but people were always nice and very reasonable. At the

end of the day the Devil Wears Prada is a fictional book and in my experience

paints a dramatized picture of the fashion industry. I like this book but

it's definitely not a pleasure read for me. When you work in fashion you don't

want your leisure time to involve fashion. It's similar to watching Project

Runway. It's not enjoyable for me. Not because it's not a good show but because

it's the industry that I work in every day. If you're new to the fashion

industry or you are not involved in the fashion industry I can see this being an

enjoyable read. Did you read The Devil Wears Prada or watch the movie? What did

you think of it? Let me know below :)
