the Amgen Tour of California returns to Long Beach with the first leg of the
men's race kicking off on May 13th the Amgen Tour of California is an annual
Tour de France style professional cycling road race as the country's
largest and most prestigious cycling event the 2018 race will travel a 645
mile route from Long Beach to Sacramento our diverse our vibrant community is
really excited about this and hosting this men's race and so we continue to
strive to be a city that believes in bike ability and livability the 7 mile
circuit is gonna start and finish at shoreline Drive near shoreline village
in the Long Beach Convention Center but my favorite part about this race is that
we're starting right now today kicking it off here by Retro Row the 11 laps of
the circuit will utilize portions of Shoreline Drive, Ocean Boulevard and
Pine Avenue city officials AEG the tour presenters
and local cycling enthusiasts converged on portfolio coffeehouse on 4th Street
for the map reveal following the announcement attendees got a jump start
on the fun with a mock race through the streets of Long Beach it's you know
viewed and streamed worldwide followed significantly on social media and it
brings a big economic impact to the city we're gonna have riders and guests
standard hotels eating in our restaurants and it's an opportunity for
us to showcase Long Beach the Amgen Tour last stopped in Long Beach in 2007 and
event organizers are excited about returning you know Long Beach really set
the bar for a lot of the cities over the ten years and we know that this year
they are going to continue to exceed expectations they're going to raise the
bar once again the 2018 Amgen Tour of California rolls into Long Beach May
