A North Carolina woman is warning people of the dangers of pedicures after she developed a gruesome leg injury from a nail salon

Tracy Lynn Martinez got a pedicure at a salon in Winston-Salem that she believed to be clean on June 22

The pedicurist used a callus scraper, and left Martinez with two scraps on her ankle, but she thought nothing of them

The next day, her health took a turn.  "I had the pedicure, and then Saturday morning I went to go drop off my daughter at a test, and I went over to a local store and I was just sitting in the parking lot on my phone, and all of a sudden I had this crazy chill; I was so cold," she tells WFMY

Along with the chills, Martinez was vomiting, but she thought she could sleep it off

The next day the pain became unbearable, and she went to urgent care where they diagnosed her with cellulitis

Cellulitis, also known as a staph infection, is a potentially deadly skin infection caused when bacteria enters a wound and goes deeply into the skin, according to the American Academy of Dermatology

They recommend immediately seeking medical care.  Martinez spent two weeks in the hospital recovering, and will now be on medication for the rest of her life, she said

"Every day was a new chapter of what was going to happen to my leg. Was I going to lose my leg? Was I going to lose my life?" Martinez said

She shared her story — and photos of the infection — on Facebook to spread awareness in a now-deleted post

Martinez also later learned that salons in North Carolina are banned from using callus scrapers

She has filed a complaint with the North Carolina Board of Cosmetics.  "Going into a salon, you trust that person and you trust that they know their profession, you trust that they know what tools they're using, what tools they're allowed to use and what not to use," she said

What If Ythogtha Was Real? - Duration: 5:16.

Hello and welcome back to Life's Biggest Questions, I'm Ron McKenzie-Lefurgey.

Today it's time for the next stop on our seemingly endless journey into the disturbing

mythos of Lovecraft.

We've talked about Nyogtha, we've talked about Yog-Sothoth, and now it's time to

talk about the creature whose name seems to be a combination of the two: Ythogtha.

Yeah, these videos give my tongue a workout.

Ythogtha is the second son of Cthulhu, who was imprisoned in the Abyss of Yhe by the

Elder Gods.

But what if he didn't exist in stories, but actually was out and about in real life?

Let's explore.

If you want more What If videos, check out our "Biggest What Ifs" playlist on the

channel.

Now get ready, it's time to ask the question: What if Ythogtha was Real?

Now, as with our other Cthulhu videos, this video will assume that Ythogtha is the only

Elder God or Great Old One around.

So he won't have any competition on that front.

However, since he is rather dependent on his servants, we'll assume that his servants

are also real.

This means that the yuggs as well as their lord, Ubb, The Father of Worms, would also

exist.

Yes, the names sound disgusting.

And yes, they live up to their names.

More on them in a moment, but for now, let's talk about Ythogtha himself.

Ythogtha first appeared in The Xothic Legend Cycle series, written by Lin Carter.

He looks something like a giant humanoid frog, with a single eye in the middle of his forehead,

but he is much more disgusting, and far, far larger.

How large?

Well, when a sorcerer-priest tried to free him, he mistook his fingertips for mountainous

heads.

So he's pretty darn big.

As with other beasts from the mythos, he has a number of tentacles on him, forming a sort

of mane around his head.

In terms of abilities, there's little we can know from the literature.

Since he was imprisoned in the Abyss of Yhe, he didn't really get a chance to strut his

stuff.

However, we know a bit more about the abilities of his minions.

These minions were the Yuggs, large, flatworm-like creatures found underground, also known as

The Worms of the Earth.

They are able to interact with humans, and even transmit genetic information to them

through organic darts.

Although frankly, I'm not entirely sure what that means.

They're known to communicate with humans, offering them great wealth, in exchange for

cooperation, as well as sacrifices.

They're led by the large, slug-like creature known as Ubb, The Father of Worms, from whom

the Yuggs are spawned.

In the mythos, they worked to free their masters from their prison.

So, what might happen if Ythogtha was real?

Well, that would depend on whether or not he was imprisoned.

If he was free, things would look rather like they did with Cthulhu; he would be incredibly

dangerous, and would likely take over the Earth.

So, for the purposes of this video, we'll assume that Ythogtha is still trapped under

the Earth, and must depend on the Yuggs to spread his influence on Earth.

How might this affect us?

Well first of all, it might take some time to convince the general population of the

existence of the Yuggs.

The idea sounds pretty farfetched, and most would shrug it off as just another silly conspiracy

theory.

This would make it quite a bit easier for the Yuggs to infiltrate society, and influence

powerful people by helping them to achieve their goals.

Eventually, however, there's a good chance that one would slip up, and be captured, which

would allow even the most skeptical to come to terms with this strange new creature.

If we learned that there were giant worms that were bribing people with money in order

to gain their service, people would become even more suspicious of the rich than they

are now.

And that's saying something.

Currently, people on all sides of the political spectrum are engaging in numerous conspiracy

theories about the rich and powerful, with many believing them to be a part of some greater,

harmful agenda.

If we knew that some rich people got that way thanks to some freaky worms that were

serving a giant tentacle monster, it would change the way we looked at rich folks.

But even if we did learn about them, and we knew that they intended to harm humanity,

there are some who would still take advantage of their supposed generosity.

As we've seen throughout history, some people are more than happy to sell out their fellow

humans in exchange for personal wealth and power.

There's a good chance that the Yuggs would prioritize powerful leaders, with cult followings,

in order to influence as many people as possible.

If they were around nowadays, they would almost certainly try to tempt Donald Trump or Vladimir

Putin, or even the British Royal Family, in hopes of using their following to gain influence,

and perhaps release Ythogtha from his prison.

And, whether out of narcissism or greed, there is a chance that they would accept.

In order to limit the actions of the Yuggs, and to stop people from being potentially

corrupted, we might attempt to build devices that could locate and exterminate them.

Since they tend to be found underground, these would likely be small drilling devices with

that could sense the movement or digging of the Yuggs, find them, and kill them.

We might also find ways to detect them when they're about in the world, looking for

people to influence.

This could be either with technology, or simply training dogs to sniff them out.

However, it might be best to try to cut off the head of the snake.

If possible, there's a good chance we'd try to hunt down Ubb, to stop more Yuggs from

being created, and perhaps disrupt their structure.

Without Ubb, it's possible that the Yuggs would become disorganized, and might be easier

to deal with, allowing us to exterminate them and move on with our lives.

Otherwise, there's a chance that they would succeed, Ythogtha would rise, and humanity

would be in for a bad time.

And now we return to our question: What if Ythogtha was Real?

Well, his Yuggs would cause quite the problem.

Under the leadership of Ubb, the Yuggs would infiltrate world governments, by promising

money and power in return for allegiance.

If they succeeded, and Ythogtha returned, the world would probably be more or less doomed.

If, however, we managed to stop them, either by hunting the Yuggs down, or killing their

leader, then the world could begin to return to normal.

Or at least, as normal as it can be, with the thought of giant, conniving flatworms

floating around in our minds.

What If Ligma Was Real? - Duration: 3:37.

Ligma is a fictional disease made popular through a death hoax of one of the biggest

Fortnite Streamer, Ninja, the same ninja that went viral for playing fortnite with drake.

So After ninja hadn't been streaming for several days, fans were concerned about his

whereabouts, concerned enough that some of them believed he might have passed away.

On July 17th 2018, it was reported by an instagram account called NinjaHater that Ninja had been

battling a disease known as Ligma for several months.

According to urbandictionary, Ligma is said to be a disease that fortnite streamers carry.

Symptoms of ligma include blue hair, an inability to curse, an appearance attributed to those

who smoke crack cocaine, hypocrisy and an uncontrollable urge to dance.

Ligma started as a simple joke, a play on words for 'lick my', where when someone

asks, what is ligma, the appropriate response is, ligma balls.

Yep, ligma is nothing but a dick joke.

And so, a viral internet meme was born.

But what if ligma wasn't just an internet meme, what if ligma was a real disease?

Hello and welcome back to life's biggest questions, I'm charlotte dobre.

This is where I ask you to hit the thumbs up, subscribe and let us know in the comments

below a question you have always wanted to know the answer to.

A deadly disease born through the internet is spreading across the world.

It is called ligma and it seems to be targeting viral internet personalities.

80 percent of the people diagnosed with ligma are fortnite streamers.

It is also extremely contagious.

So far, it has claimed the lives of both fortnite streamer Ninja as well as instagram prankster

Supreme Patty.

First things first, if ligma was real, the world health organization as well as the united

states centers for disease control and prevention would quickly respond, as they normally do

whenever theres a contagious disease outbreak.

They would arrange a press conference to announce the outbreak to the media, as well as what

they believe may have caused it.

Flights would be cancelled.

As with the case the sars and ebola outbreaks, flights would be cancelled and airports shut

down.

Travel would be prohibited.

Once everyone knew that ligma targets fortnite streamers, there would be a complete ban on

playing fortnite.

Twitch would shut down, and all popular streamers would be quarantined.

Biohazard teams would show up at the most popular fortnite streamers houses.

Tfue, TSM myth, dakotaz, timthetatman, nickmercs, and dr disrespect would be taken against their

will to a secret government facility and tested on until the exact cause of ligma was identified,

as well as a possible cure.

The media would have a field day.

They would create fear and unrest with terrifying news stories about ligma.

Every day a new diagnosis, every day another death in the news.

Sooner or later, the disease would begin to People would be afraid to leave their homes,

afraid to go out in public.

As blue hair is a symptom of ligma, those who have blue hair would be shunned.

Stores would put up signs that say "blue hair-keep out".

At the same time, anyone who has played fortnite before would become a societal outcast.

In the month of February, 3.4 million people were playing fortnite.

People would mark the homes of known fortnite players with blue spray-paint and the word

LIGMA.

After the epidemic becomes too difficult to control, The public's concern would have

to be addressed by the US government.

Donald Trump would announce that he would be placing all fortnite players and people

suffering from ligma in quarantine camps.

Eventually the ligma situation would become contained after a medical cure was found,

and the civil unrest would subside.

From the ashes, the survivors of ligma would rise by writing books and making documentaries

about their hardship and unfair treatment.

But truthfully, ligma would be forgotten as quickly as it spread.

Well, i guess it's a good thing ligma is just a meme, right guys?

For now, I'm charlotte dobre, and you've been watching life's biggest questions.

Analysis | A British man gave his girlfriend what he thought was perfume. It was a Russian nerve age - Duration: 3:43.

by Ruby Mellen July 25 at 11:29 AM Email the author When Charlie Rowley found a sealed box containing a bottle of perfume on the ground in the southern English town of Amesbury, he figured it would make a great gift for his girlfriend of two years, Dawn Sturgess

He gave it to her on June 30, never imagining the bottle was filled with a poisonous nerve agent called Novichok, a Russian-made chemical weapon the country reserves for some of its deadliest attacks

Rowley, one of only four people in the world known to have survived Novichok poisoning, spoke in an exclusive interview with Britain's ITV television channel on Tuesday and described the ordeal

According to Rowley, he found the small box still sealed and later removed the bottle from a cellophane wrapper to put a pump dispenser on it

In doing so, he got some liquid on his hands. "I washed it off, and I didn't think anything of it," he said

"It all happened so quick." Sturgess, his girlfriend, was not so lucky. Rowley said she sprayed some of the liquid on her wrists and rubbed them together

Within 15 minutes she told Rowley she had a headache, and then went to draw a bath

Rowley said he found her clothed in the bath in a "very ill state." Sturgess died just over a week later, on July 8

The incident came roughly four months after former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter, Yulia, were hospitalized due to Novichok exposure in Salisbury, a city eight miles away from Amesbury

Skripal and his daughter were found slumped and unresponsive on a park bench; investigators said they believe Novichok had been smeared on the doorknob of their house

The British government has said Russia is responsible for the attack. Both Yulia and her father have since been released from the hospital

British police have said there is no reason to believe Rowley and Sturgess were directly targeted

But, according to the Guardian, British intelligence officials are operating under the assumption the Skripal poisoning is still directly linked to the poisonings of Rowley and Sturgess

"Experts from the top secret research facility at Porton Down in Wiltshire are trying to establish if the novichok was from the same batch," the Guardian wrote

Meanwhile, while Rowley is out of the hospital and on the mend, he says he doesn't feel lucky to be alive

"They say I'm lucky but I don't feel lucky," he said. "I've lost my partner."   Hugging is PM Modi's trademark, what Rahul Gandhi did was splendid: Shatrughan Sinha Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shatrughan Sinha has now come out in support of Congress president Rahul Gandhi over the latter hugging Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Lok Sabha during the no-confidence motion debate on Friday.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shatrughan Sinha has now come out in support of Congress president Rahul Gandhi over the latter hugging Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Lok Sabha during the no-confidence motion debate on Friday.

Taking to microblogging site Twitter, the BJP leader called Rahul Gandhi "dynamic young leader of the youth & generation next" and questioned the "hue & cry over a Pyar ki Jhappi" by the Congress president to Prime Minister Modi.

What's the big fuss, hue & cry over a "Pyar ki Jhappi", an affectionate hug? Dynamic young leader of the youth & generation next, @RahulGandhi spontaneously gave a warm hug to our Hon'ble PM after his speech in Parliament.

What a splendid gesture?.

"What's the big fuss, hue & cry over a "Pyar ki Jhappi", an affectionate hug? Dynamic young leader of the youth & generation next, @RahulGandhi spontaneously gave a warm hug to our Hon'ble PM after his speech in Parliament.

What a splendid gesture?" tweeted Sinha.

Hasn't it been the trademark of our Hon'ble PM to receive all foreign dignitaries with a HUG.so what was so different now?Let's accept it with love & grace."Zara Si Baat Ka Afsana Bana Dete Hain log, Kaise nadan hai ki sholon ko hawa dete hain log.

The actor-politician further pointed that it has been a "trademark" of Prime Minister Modi to receive all foreign dignitaries with a hug, and hence the hug by the Congress president on the floor of the House should also be accepted with "love & grace".

The BJP MP said, "Hasn't it been the trademark of our Hon'ble PM to receive all foreign dignitaries with a HUG.so what was so different now? Let's accept it with love & grace.

'Zara Si Baat Ka Afsana Bana Dete Hain log, Kaise nadan hai ki sholon ko hawa dete hain log'." This comes a day after Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar attacked the Gandhi scion over his action inside Parliament, saying the move had exposed Congress "theatrics".

"During the no-confidence motion, Congress was exposed completely.

When Rahul Gandhi hugged PM Modi, it meant that they don't have any issue.

Besides 'Dramebazi' Congress doesn't have any issue to talk about," Javadekar had said.

During the no-confidence motion debate in the lower house of Parliament on July 20, Rahul Gandhi had hugged Prime Minister Narendra Modi after ending his speech.

Towards the end of his speech, Rahul Gandhi said that the BJP might consider him a "pappu", but he had no hatred for them.

And then he left his seat to walk to the Treasury benches and hugged the Prime Minister.

Couple who rented home as Airbnb returned home to find it was 'used as brothel' - Duration: 2:23.

</form> A couple who rented out their home as an Airbnb were horrified after returning home to find it covered in mystery stains after it was allegedly used as a brothel

The couple, who do not wish to be named, arrived back at their Amsterdam house to find odd stains on the carpet and furniture

They claimed their entire house was left in a disgusting state, and were only made aware of what happened when police informed them they had visited the property

The couple said: "There were white spots on the couch too and we did not really know what it could be

Unfortunately, the police then informed us about what the stains were."  The couple said police told them they had checked out the house after seeing the address listed in multiple ads on sex and prostitution websites

They said officers found three prostitutes in the house. They ordered them to close the unlicensed brothel, and gave them a few days to vacate the property

Cops say their powers were limited as the prostitutes were not illegal immigrants and were not the victims of human trafficking or forced prostitution

Prostitution is legal in the Netherlands, but sex workers and brothels have to be strictly regulated

The couple had hired a specialist rental agency to hand the house keys to their Airbnb guests

The couple now say their house no longer feels like home knowing that men had sex with prostitutes in almost every room

They have been sleeping on an air bed because they cannot bear the thought of what had happened in their own bed

They said: "The mattress, the carpet, the couch, we don't dare to sit on it."  The couple are demanding compensation from Airbnb

Mirror Online has approached Airbnb for comment.
