California continues to make headlines.

For good reason.

Its toxic, liberal government just keeps baffling us.

As real Americans struggle to survive, California Democrats waste billions on worthless programs.

The sanctuary state puts illegals and dangerous criminals ahead of citizens.

Their leaders' shocking lack of insight leads to yearly droughts, mudslides, and wildfires.

Because of epic failures, the state now claims 25% of the nation's homeless.

And it just keeps getting worse.

But things might change big time.

A proposal to alter the state, once and for all, has made it through another hurdle.

It's in the people's hands now.

From The LA Times:

California's 168-year run as a single entity, hugging the continent's edge for hundreds

of miles and sprawling east across mountains and desert, could come to an end next year

— as a controversial plan to split the Golden State into three new jurisdictions qualified

Tuesday for the Nov. 6 ballot.

"Three states will get us better infrastructure, better education and lower taxes," Tim Draper,

the Silicon Valley venture capitalist who sponsored the ballot measure, said in an email

to The Times last summer when he formally submitted the proposal.

"States will be more accountable to us and can cooperate and compete for citizens."

The proposal aims to invoke Article IV, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution, the provision

guiding how an existing state can be divided into new states.

Draper's plan calls for three new entities — Northern California, California and Southern

California — which would roughly divide the population of the existing state into

thirds.

If voters agree to split up the state, a long process would begin.

It could culminate in the Golden State being chopped up into three major regions.

This isn't unprecedented.

West Virginia broke free from Virginia in 1863, on the eve of the Civil War.

It's clear the values and traditions of Northern California are very different from

those in the South and Bay Area.

Breaking up the state could give freedom back to many, who right now feel ignored and abused.

What could the fallout be—nationwide?

The dynamic of our federal government would change in many ways.

California would lose considerable impact in Congress.

But more senators would be added.

There's also the Electoral College to think about.

Right now, California carries tremendous weight during presidential elections, thanks to its

large population.

If broken up, all that goes away.

Splitting California into three states could strike a blow into the Democrats' plans

for decades to come.

But can it happen?

Polling suggests that most Californians aren't interested in breaking up the state.

But we know how flawed polling can be.

If Draper can mount a successful campaign, perhaps he can win over enough residents.

If so, the West Coast will soon look a lot different.

California's Mistake | NO on Question 3 - Duration: 0:31.

What's wrong with Question 3's proposal to deregulate electricity in Nevada?

California tried electricity deregulation and found out it's a costly mistake.

It led to higher rates, rolling blackouts, consumer fraud, and the Enron energy resale

scandal costing Californian's billions.

And today, California's average electric rates are nearly double our rates in Nevada.

To keep Nevada from making California's costly mistake, vote NO on Question 3.

UU.

California Sounds: Chicano Batman teams up with Miguel, Chromatics tease 'Dear Tommy' and Pioneer 11 - Duration: 5:57.

Miguel and Chicano Batman, "Sky Walker" and "Black Lipstick" video (Tuguther/Mitú)

For a new video series by the online channel Mitú, the two L.A.-area acts have converged to swap songs and talk music

The resulting 10-minute clip captures artists in the midst of the collaborative process, and in doing so magnifies the mix-and-match nature of Southern California music

"People need to understand that culture is a lot more complex than they think," Chicano Batman's Bardo Martinez says at one point

"Things are definitely not just black and white. There's brown." Advertisement  "There's a lot of brown," Miguel adds, smiling

San Pedro-raised Miguel's genre-blurring sounds mix contemporary R&B, pop and hip-hop with magnificently imagined rock and soul; East Los Angeles-born Chicano Batman draws on Southern California's deep history of Latin rock, fueling garage rock, surf and soul with the energy of modern Los Angeles

"You can sense energy in music," Miguel says in the opening moments as he describes the uncertainty of meeting new collaborators

"You don't know what you're going to walk into. And as soon as we got in, man, it was even more of a breeze than I could have imagined

"  Miguel tackles "Black Lipstick," a Batman track originally sung by Martinez. He looks on in awe as Miguel jumps into falsetto during rehearsals

The song has bilingual lyrics, and we watch as the two harmonize through one take

They then work out Miguel's song "Sky Walker," with Batman providing instrumentation via fuzzy tremolo guitar, organ clusters and bassist Eduardo Arenas' deep lines

The mini-doc climaxes at the 7-minute mark with full performances of the two songs, and by the time they're finished, it's hard not to hope for a "Miguel Batman" album

Chromatics, "Blue Girl" (Italians Do It Better). The Los Angeles-based producer, musician and artist Johnny Jewel and his band Chromatics have been threatening to release "Dear Tommy," its forthcoming album, for a few years now

Jewel, however, has been busy composing for the screen, including work on David Lynch's "Twin Peaks" continuation

"Blue Girl," as well as the recently issued video for "Black Walls," suggests that the delay might be over — though nothing's ever certain with Chromatics except the dry drum tones, evocative '80s synth melodies and singer Ruth Radelet's detached demeanor

Directed by the group with director of photography Rene Hallen, the video glistens as though the camera lens were coated with Vaseline

It features drummer Nat Walker tapping his snare with long-stemmed roses and offers loving images of a glowing-eyed Jewel gazing at some faraway place

Pioneer 11, "RF Daze: A Compilation" (POW Recordings). The Los Angeles cosmic explorers Alex Hastings and Bryan Gomez are teasing their forthcoming album as Pioneer 11 with a collection that gathers in one place what release notes describe as "acid trip jam sessions in abandoned ghost towns, collaborations with [producer] Paul White (Danny Brown, Open Mike Eagle) and miscellaneous astral odysseys

" The band is drawing attention to the roll-out with a video for one of the highlights of the release, "Mango Storm," which The Times is premiering below

A delicate guitar-and-synth work that somehow manages to touch on downtempo beat music, Radiohead-inspired majesty and Grateful Dead-suggestive expansiveness, "Mango Storm" seems to drift through its 4½ minutes as un-tethered as the space probe from which the band draws its name

Later in the year, POW Recordings will issue Pioneer 11's studio debut album, "Gravitorium

"

✅ California U-Haul Truck Chase: Everything We Know About 90-Minute Pursuit Tracked on Live TV - Duration: 3:18.

A driver who took California police on a 90-minute freeway chase has taken their own life, bringing an end to a pursuit that took officers across three counties

The man was suspected of stealing guns from a family member, and tried to make his escape from police while driving a U-Haul truck, the Associated Press reported

The 42-year-old man, who has not yet been identified, had reportedly stolen several handguns from a relative in a 2017 burglary, a crime for which he was already a police suspect

He reportedly phoned the relative and said he would be returning the weapons to his business on Wednesday. The victim contacted police to notify them what was going to happen as he was afraid of how the encounter might go

When police arrived at the location in Orange County, they found the suspect knocking on the back door of the business, calling for his relative to come outside

When the suspect spotted the officers, he jumped back in his U-Haul truck and set off, beginning the 90-minute pursuit. His attempted escape was captured live by local news stations, the driver smoking cigarettes as he weaved through freeway traffic at speeds above 90 miles per hour

At the very beginning of the chase the driver pulled over to the side of the road. But as soon as police began giving him commands, he drove off, ABC 7 reported

He led local and state police on a journey through the Inland Empire, Riverside and into San Bernardino County. The truck's front tires eventually blew out when the man drove over police spike strips

Though he continued driving on the wheel rims for some time, the driver eventually pulled over to the side of the road in the Cajon Pass northeast of Los Angeles

There was another car pulled up there, and police rushed to get the bystander to safety. Almost immediately, the driver could be seen holding a gun to his neck, KTLA 5 reported

The man then shot himself. Police approached the vehicle cautiously along with K-9 dogs, but the driver was not moving and could be seen slumped over the steering wheel

Authorities confirmed he died at the scene. Police recovered a gun safe and a semiautomatic firearm from the pickup truck, but could not confirm if the items were stolen

Officers were also unable to say whether the U-Haul truck used was stolen. The investigation into the details of the case are ongoing

Fiancee Visa in Sacramento California - Duration: 2:57.

Hi this Kaushik Ranchod from

the Ranchod Law Group

today I'm going to answer some of your frequently asked questions. Today I'm going to talk about

the fiancee visa

[music]

The Fiancee Visa

is a process where you are engaged to your fiancee

you're not married yet

and you want to bring your fiancee abroad

from their home country to come and live in the United States

now the question that we get asked a lot is well

can I just get them here into the United States and then get married

I don't recommend that because

that can be considered as visa fraud

because you're not supposed to come in with the intent

to temporarily stay with the visitor visa

you're supposed to return home

and the proper method is the Fiancee Visa

now there's the fiancee visa against the immigrant visa

today we're going to just talk about the fiancee visa because you're not married yet

it's also faster than the immigrant visa where

if you are married you can apply for the immigrant visa

so in the fiancee visa the first step is filing for

the fiancee visa petition

and that's generally taking anywhere from 3 to 6 months

with the government processing times

and then after that fiancee visa petition is approved

it goes to the national visa center

where they do background security checks and it's forwarded down to the US embassy

throughout this whole process it's really important to document that you have a real relationship

and that is going to be evaluated at the Fiancee Visa Petition Stage

they are looking at that

and they're also wanting to see that you have met

you need to have met in the last two years

also at the US embassy they will be evaluating this as well

so they are going to evaluate if you are eligible to enter the United States

and once you have the interview, once you pass the interview

then you will come in and you will need to get married within 90 days

and since we are talking specifically here about Sacramento

once you get married you will need to file for a marriage based adjustment application

and you will go through that whole process

and you'll have another interview that will take place in Sacramento

California if you're living in Sacramento

so that's the fiancee visa process in a nutshell

I invite you to contact us if you have questions

you can reach us at 916-613-3553

or email us at info@ranchodlaw.com thanks and have an awesome day

ICE nets 162 in Southern California deemed a risk to public safety - Duration: 3:50.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested 162 suspected illegal immigrants — nearly 90 percent of whom had past criminal convictions -- in sweeps across Los Angeles and surrounding areas, the agency said Thursday

The arrests targeted those deemed a public safety threat.  Among those arrested were a Mexican national convicted of rape and an El Salvadorian convicted of voluntary manslaughter

The arrests occurred from Sunday through Tuesday and took place in Los Angeles, Orange County, Santa Barbara and Ventura County

David Marin, field director for ICE enforcement in the area, said the arrests were generally the most dangerous kind his agents face

One detainee was a 32-year-old Mexican national and member of the gang "Krazy A—Mexican," the agency said

He was convicted of rape and sentenced to eight years in prison.  Another Mexican national, arrested the same day in Santa Barbara, was convicted of assault with intent to commit rape

The other crimes ranged from grand theft to drug convictions.  The majority of those arrested were Mexicans, but an Iranian and Nigerian were also nabbed

ICE agents arrested 53 individuals after filing detainers with local law enforcement

A detainer is a request by ICE sent to local law enforcement to notify the agency when an illegal immigrant is going to be released from jail

Immigration-rights advocates told the Los Angeles Daily News that some of those arrested had convictions from 20 years ago

Jennaya Dunlap, a deportation defense coordinator, told the paper that ICE agents make arrests daily in San Bernardino and Riverside counties

"ICE doesn't rest out here," she said.  Edmund DeMarche is a news editor for FoxNews

Letter: Ocean's drowning in plastic–California needs polystyrene ban - Duration: 1:29.

Oceans drowning in plastic need state polystyrene ban  Regarding Jessica A. York's article, " beach maintains 'F' grade, shows contamination improvement" (Page Mercurynews

com, June 8):  While it's great that the contamination of our beaches is improving, one thing that is not improving is the plastic pollution in our oceans

Between 4 million and 12 million metric tons of plastic washed offshore in 2010

The plastic problem is only getting worse because Americans are throwing away 70 million foam cups every day

This is a huge issue in terms of ocean contamination.  All this plastic injures and kills marine animals including birds and sea turtles

In order to reduce the amount of plastic that is drowning our oceans, we need to pass a statewide ban on polystyrene

By banning polystyrene, we can eliminate one of the worst kinds of single-use plastics from our state, and consequently prevent it from wreaking havoc in our oceans
