When the latest God of War game was announced, fans revealed in the fact that the series
was jumping ships to a different kind of mythology; the Norse mythology.
It turned out to be a wise departure from the Greek mythos that we've been accustomed
to from the franchise.
But this game marks some pretty big changes for Kratos, not only in character, but also
in the game's mechanics, and many found the Norse setting quite refreshing.
Shortly before the game was released, director Cory Barlog brought up some thoughts on later
games in the franchise that got a lot of people excited.
In an interview with Game Informer, Barlog stated, "The Greek games were the greek
era of God of War.
Moving on, the next mythological belief system he interacts with became the Norse era of
God of War.
But we may end up going on to the Egyptian era and the Mayan era and so on and so forth."
Yeah, that's a pretty big deal!
Talk of other mythologies sparked even more so once the game was released, thanks to a
piece of a wall panel found in Tyr's Vault.
On the panel, four symbols are featured, one being the iconic Greek Omega that the series
is known for.
One was the Celtic Triskelion, another the Ja[anise symbol of Hachiman, and the third
the Egyptian Eye of Horus.
When asked about this Barlog said to Kotaku, "I've always looked at this universe like
our world.
The geography separates the cultural mythologies.
The cultural mythologies are stories of the zero-point to present day.
These are the birth and the origin of these cultures."
The panel indicates the Tyr was capable of traveling to these other worlds.
Tyr was a giant.
Kratos clearly traveled from the Greek realm to the Norse one.
So considering those two points, Atreus most definitely would have the capacity to learn
how to do the same.
Back at E3 2016, Barlog had stated that the team was into the idea of doing an Egyptian
setting.
I quote, "Egyptian mythology is about the pharaohs as the embodiment of the gods on
earth and there's a lot more about civilization.
It's less isolated, less barren.
Having too much around distracts from that central theme of a strange in a strange place."
Considering the team's enthusiasm towards Ancient Egypt, if the series were to start
expanding after the Norse Era, it seems likely that the team would choose to go the Egyptian
route.
So, with all of that information, what can we gauge about a hypothetical God of War game
set in Ancient Egypt?
What would it entail?
Well for starters, let's look at the roster of gods from Egyptian mythology.
We have Osiris, Isis, Ra, Horus, Bes, Bast, Set, Nekhbet, Anubis, Shu, Nephthys, Sobek,
Serqet, Khonus, Babi, Tawart, Geb, and Nut.
But there's a few of these that are pretty important players in the mythos.
Ra is the sun god, the first pharaoh of the world, with each day his golden sun ship sailing
across the sky, traveling through the underground world of Duat during the night, fighting off
monsters.
After many centuries, Ra became old and senile, and gave his throne to Osiris, heading up
to the heavens instead.
But more on him in a second.
Next are Geb and Nut, the god of the earth and goddess of the sky.
These two were very much in love, but Ra had a prophecy that their children would overthrow
him one day, so he did everything he could to keep them apart.
That didn't pan out though, and they had five children, the oldest being Osiris.
Osiris replaced Ra, becoming a wise and kind pharaoh.
Osiris was the god that taught the Egyptian people how to become a civilization, teaching
them about agriculture.
This is what Barlog meant about distractions; much of the Egyptian mythology is tied to
the people and the growth of their civilization.
Anywho, his brother Set became jealous of him, tricked him into lying down in a coffin,
which he then cut up into pieces and scattered all over Egypt.
Osiris' wife Isis managed to find them all and put him back together, but Osiris wasn't
the same; instead, he became the god of the underworld, sitting in judgment of souls.
Speaking of, Isis is the goddess of magic.
She's clever, but also ambitious.
She's the one who tricked Ra into retiring his position by poisoning him with a magic
snake, forcing him to reveal his secret name to her so she could have control over him.
She's also the one who convinces her son Horus to take revenge on Set for Osiris'
death.
Set is one of the big baddies in this mythology.
The god of desert, storms and straight up evil, he's considered the strongest among
them and is full of trickery.
But, it was only after Ra's departure that he became evil, having helped the sun god
during his reign to keep back the armies of the chaos serpent Apep.
Horus would challenge him when the young god grew to manhood, making him known as the Avenger,
becoming Pharaoh himself since his father Osiris no longer could.
The mortal pharaohs of Egypt would go on to be considered descendants of Horus.
So all in all, there's some solid family trouble and toil going on between the Egyptian
gods.
And we all know how familial ties tend to play out when it comes to the God of War franchise.
That being said, there are plenty of 'friendly gods' in the mythos so we may see some more
friends rather than just an onslaught of foes.
So how would Kratos and Atreus play into this?
Well, if some of the speculations are correct, Atreus will eventually take over for his father
in the series, which would open up the possibilities in terms of his interactions with the Egyptian
gods.
Well, for starters, even though we've been promised by the God of War team that this
game won't be the last we see of Kratos, there is a very strong possibility that the
Norse Era will be his last; he'll be totaling around 10 games by that point.
Considering that the series has shown with its latest installment that it's not afraid
of change, boldly switching up the approach for God of War is not the only story but also
in mechanics, having another drastic change occur down the road isn't something that's
unimaginable.
Atreus could very well become our new protagonist in the Egyptian Era.
If that were the case, what would his mission be?
Well, let's look at the themes that the games have juggled in the past; revenge, controlling
one's rage, and, of course, family dynamics.
Atreus (or Kratos, for that matter) will likely be thrust into some sort of immortal conflict.
Perhaps Atreus finds himself romantically involved with one of the gods?
Or, like his father, the gods may intervene in his life and harm someone he's close
to?
Perhaps that's how Atreus becomes our protagonist; Kratos is killed off by the likes of Set.
The timeline for this potential series of games is also up for debate; it seems likely
that all of this godly family drama would have already passed when Kratos and Atreus'
story begins in their realm.
This is because the time period that the God of War team seemed interested in was one in
which the Egyptian civilization was prominent; that distraction Barlog spoke of when deciding
to go with Norse mythology instead.
Enough of when it would take place; how about where?
There's no doubt that we'd see Memphis as one of the game's settings.
Thebes and Abydos are other likely candidates.
Surely some of the action would take place along the Nile, and if Osiris is involved,
we'd definitely see the underworld come to life.
Weapons are also a big part of the God of War franchise.
The Blades of Chaos and the leviathan ax are very much integral to the cultures of their
eras in the series.
So it's safe to assume that if a God of War game were to take place in Ancient Egypt,
that Kratos or Atreus would wield something distinct of that time period.
We're talking the likes of a Khopesh sword, reed arrows, or a fan ax, which appeared in
Egyptian hieroglyphics although archaeologists never actually found one in the flesh.
Maybe even the Hyksos war chariot would make an appearance.
And what kinds of enemies would you be fighting with these weapons?
Mummies may be the main enemy type that you'd have to plow through and seem like the most
obvious choice.
Grave robbers, depending on the time period, may also be present, and in terms of mythological
beasts, there would no doubt be a giant serpent or two eager to ingest you whole.
So, with all that in mind, if there were to be a God of War game set in Ancient Egypt,
how much of this do you think would likely play into the game's narrative and the world?
Do you think the Norse Era will be the end of Kratos, or is he just too important for
Santa Monica to want to replace him with his son?

What is the Best CINEMATIC Shutter Speed for Video – How Film Shutter Angles Affect the Film Look - Duration: 7:42.
That's your shutter, and be forewarned there's gonna be a lot of numbers, a lot of fractions.
So get your thinking hat on, let's do this.
Hey everyone, Camber here, welcome back.
Today we are talking about shutter speed and how it affects your video.
And if you're new here, this channel is all about teaching you how to use your camera
to make good videos, so if that's you, consider subscribing.
Before we get started, know that frame rate and shutter speed are NOT the same thing.
Your frame rate is the amount of individual frames recorded per second, whereas your shutter
speed is the length of time that each of those frames is exposed to light.
The shutter is a physical mechanism in front of your camera sensor that moves out of the
way to expose your sensor to light for a certain period of time and then moves back in front
of your sensor to stop the exposure of that frame.
And this controls how long the light hits your camera sensor.
So a longer exposure will result in more light hitting your camera sensor and a brighter
image, and a shorter exposure time will result in less light hitting the sensor and a darker image
The shutter speed is displayed on your camera as fractions of a second.
And since stops of light are based on a doubling or halving of the amount of light let in when
taking a photo or video, you can know exactly how any change in shutter speed will affect
your exposure because any doubling or halving of your shutter speed will result in a one-stop
change of light.
So if your current shutter speed is set to 1/400 of a second and you're on the "-1" on
your exposure meter, then changing your shutter speed to 1/200 of a second will result in
your exposure meter going to "0" because you divided your previous shutter by 2, which
would keep the shutter open twice as long and double the amount of light let in.
Conversely, if your shutter speed was set to 1/400 of a second and you were on the "+2"
on your exposure meter, then changing the shutter speed to 1/800 of a second would result
in the meter going to "+1" because you doubled the speed letting in half as much light.
You would then need to double the shutter speed again to 1/1600 of a second in order
to decrease by one more stop of light and bring your exposure meter to "0."
And aside from changing the length of time that light hits your sensor, the shutter speed
also has a stylistic effect in changing the motion blur of your images.
So with a very fast shutter speed, any motion in your shot gets frozen and looks very crisp;
but with a very slow shutter speed, any motion that's in your shot begins to get blurred.
And with photography you can choose any shutter speed you want depending on the style
you're going for, however with video you are much more limited.
The most common shutter speeds used in video are based on the 180 degree rule, which is
choosing a shutter speed that is doubled your frame rate meaning that you would use a shutter
speed of 1/60 of a second if you were shooting at 30 frames per second.
And as you'll find in many areas of video, many common practices come from the days of using film.
Film motion cameras used a physical rotary shutter where part of the shutter was a hollow
semicircle, and that's where the degrees came from.
During the first 180 degrees of rotation, the film was exposed, and during the second
180 degrees of rotation, the film was covered with no exposure to the film.
At this time the film was advanced to the next frame because film cameras need time
to physically move the film down for the next exposure, and because of this there couldn't
be shutter angles higher than 180 degrees for film.
The shutter then was limited to allowing an exposure time that was half that of the frame rate.
So if you could shoot at one frame per second, the shutter could only allow for half a second
of light with the shutter being at an angle of 180 degrees.
You could have shutter angles less than 180 degrees letting in less light, but this would
also change the look of your video.
And although current camera no longer control shutter speed using a rotary shutter anymore,
the shutter angle terminology has continued as a simple standard way of describing the
appearance of motion blur in video.
So let's take another look at the rotary shutter so we can look at some of the basic shutter
angles and determine how to calculate your shutter speed.
So we'll use 24 frames per second as our frame rate in these examples.
Since 360 degrees is the maximum exposure you can get, 360 will be your base number
and you'll divide any of the lower shutter angles into 360 and then multiply the result
of that by your frame rate to arrive at the shutter speed you'll need for that shutter angle.
So for a 360 shutter angle, 360 divided by itself would be 1.
So at 24 frames per second, you would get 1/24 of a second for your shutter speed.
Then at 180 degrees, that goes into 360 twice.
So then you would multiply your frame rate by 2 giving you 1/48 of a second for your shutter speed.
Going further for a 90 degree shutter angle, that goes into 360 four times.
So then you multiply your frame rate by 4 giving us 1/96 of a second.
Continuing on to 45 degree shutter angle, that goes into 360 eight times.
So we'll multiply 24 frames per second by 8, and that gives us our shutter speed for
a 45 degree angle at 24 frames per second.
Now, you're not gonna find these precise shutter speeds on DSLRs, so you'll just have to round
up to the closest one you can find.
But you get the idea on how to calculate your shutter speed for these various shutter angles.
But using a 360 degree shutter angle results in a slower shutter speed that gives a lot
more motion blur than you're used to seeing.
And using a 90 degree or 45 degree shutter angle results in a fast shutter speed giving
a series of crisp, choppy looking frames when played back that's usually referred to as
the cheap, video-y look.
Now, having crisp frames sounds like a good thing from a photography standpoint because
blurry frames typically look bad in a photo.
But if you take 24 of those, put them back-to-back and play them in one second, it starts to look pretty natural.
And the reason for that is because our eyes naturally see motion blur, which you can see
just from waving your hand around in front of your face.
Your hand doesn't look crisp throughout the movement; there's motion blur there.
And so the 180 degree shutter angle most closely resembles what we see naturally.
And of course to every rule there is an exception, and this is no different.
Other shutter angles can be used for effect.
If done carefully and well, they can enhance your story, and we'll talk about reasons to
use other shutter angles in a different video.
But for now to get your videos looking most like what you're used to seeing in movies,
using 24 frames per second as your base frame rate, just double that to 48; so round that
up to 1/50 and that'll be your shutter speed at 24 frames per second.
And if you're shooting at a higher frame rate, simply double that frame rate and then round
to the next closest number in order to get your shutter speed for that frame rate.
And that's all for shutter speed so if you made it this far, hit that like button and
let me know down below if you have any more questions about shutter speed.
It was a lot of numbers and angles and calculations, so if you are confused, let me know and
I'll help try to clear it up more down below.
Go ahead and subscribe if you haven't, and remember that the only way to get better at
something is to practice.
So get out there and film something.
See ya soon!

why you should read it or here's why you should not read it or I'm just finding
an idea finding us a little thing in that book that works in my mind that
helps me helps me think and gets me going with an idea. Maybe I've heard it

CNN Showed Up To Trump's Rally And Had No Idea What Was Waiting For Them Inside - Duration: 4:46.
CNN Showed Up To Trump's Rally And Had No Idea What Was Waiting For Them Inside
This just goes to show you, don't mess with us "Deplorables."
Breitbart reported that supporters of President Trump angrily heckled CNN White House correspondent
Jim Acosta in South Carolina Monday night by shouting at him to "go home Jim" and
crowning him "fake news Jim."
Chants of "Go home, Jim!" broke out among attendees at Trump's rally at Airport High
School in West Columbia, where the president stumped for Gov. Henry McMaster in the state's
gubernatorial primary.
One rallygoer who was identified as Maria Rojas even went as far as to personally confronted
Acosta, rightfully telling him he doesn't respect the country.
Acosta replied "I do respect the United States, yes I do," as seen in videos posted
by an Associated Press reporter.
Rojas is seen pointing at Acosta and swatting her arms in his direction, as she shouts "take
him out" of the building.
In the video, Acosta can be heard saying, "I have every right to be here ma'am."
Later on CNN the reporter said, "while we have had some people come up to us and be
very nice this evening, "I did have an elderly woman come up to me and say that we at CNN
should get the 'f' out of this auditorium."
Rojas then can be seen turning to the crowd and whipping them into a frenzy to which Acosta
then said: "We are here to do our jobs and report the news and report on this rally and
we're not going anywhere."
Here is another exchange between President Trump and Jim Acosta:
Your job?
Really?
Is it your job to be a propaganda machine for the Democrat Party?
If that's the case you do your job very well, but if your job is to report the truthful
news you haven't been doing your job for decades, and it's nice to see people are
done staying quiet while you lie another Democrat into office.
Here is more on Jim Acosta's legacy via Fox News:
"President Trump kicked CNN star Jim Acosta out of the Oval Office Tuesday after the network's
senior White House correspondent badgered him with racially charged questions.
Acosta has made a habit of grandstanding and interrupting when Trump and his surrogates
are available to the media.
Tuesday was no exception, as Acosta yelled, "Mr. President," three times before finally
getting Trump's attention.
"Did you say that you want more people to come in from Norway?
Did you say that you wanted more people from Norway?
Is that true Mr. President?"
Acosta frantically shouted.
"I want them to come in from everywhere… everywhere.
Thank you very much everybody," Trump responded as Acosta continued to bark questions.
"Just Caucasian or white countries, sir?
Or do you want people to come in from other parts of the world… people of color,"
Acosta shouted.
Trump then pointed directly at Acosta and simply said, "Out!"
A Trump staffer in the background can be heard saying, "Jim, thank you," before the CNN
star presumably exited the room.
Acosta then took to Twitter, accusing White House aides of obstructing him from asking
questions.
Acosta has been among the most outspoken critics of President Trump and is a significant part
of CNN Worldwide President Jeff Zucker's apparent anti-Trump programming strategy.
Trump has famously dubbed CNN "fake news" and pointed directly at Acosta and called
him by the disparaging moniker in the past.
Last December, Acosta was shut down by White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders when the
liberal reporter tried to hijack a press briefing.
Acosta told Sanders that journalists make "honest mistakes" but that doesn't make
them "fake news" before attempting a question.
Sanders quickly cut him off.
"When journalists make honest mistakes, they should own up to them.
Sometimes, and a lot of times, you don't," Sanders said as Acosta tried to interrupt.
"I'm sorry, I'm not finished," she said.
"There is a very big difference between making honest mistakes and purposefully misleading
the American people… you cannot say it's an honest mistake when you're purposely
putting out information you know is false."
Acosta has also gotten into combative arguments with other members of the administration including
Senior Policy Adviser Stephen Miller.
Meanwhile, CNN has been mocked for a variety of anti-Trump segments, such as focusing on
the president's soda intake amid unfolding breaking news related to a terror attack in
New York City.
Acosta's colleague, fellow CNN star Chris Cuomo, apologized on Tuesday after he referred
to Principal Deputy White House Press Secretary Raj Shah as "Raj whatever-his-name-is."
CNN has also aired the uncensored version of the word "s—hole" on a regular basis
since Trump reportedly used the term to describe certain African countries.
CNN anchors and guests said the profanity 195 times in one day last week, according
to the Media Research Center."

What Should I Look for in Stock Trading Software? - Duration: 4:36.
- What should you look for in stock trading software?
Quite a bit.
This is the make or break kind of piece to your trading puzzle.
There's a lot of bad software out there.
There's a lot of bad platforms, and frankly, I got fed up with it.
That's why we created StocksToTrade, because this is the one platform that is made for
low price stock trading.
Obviously most platforms have all the same stuff, like news, charts, level two, all integrated.
The difference that you have to think about with penny stock trading, if you're gonna
become a penny stock trader, is that most platforms don't give a shit about penny stocks.
So, many of the biggest movers literally just will not show up on the platform.
If you're looking for big percent gainers, if you compare stocks to trade, big percent
gainers versus other platforms, other platforms will miss some OTC stocks, some pink sheet
stocks, stocks that are traded very low price, versus this platform is specifically designed
for us.
That's why we created it.
I tried working with other platforms.
I didn't say, "Hey I want to create a platform.
"I want to spend millions of dollars and years "of fucking hassle."
I came to this conclusion only because we tried working with other platforms, and no
one wanted to focus on penny stocks.
The whole world, in case you don't realize this by now, hates on penny stocks.
Therein lies the opportunity, because all the richest, all the most knowledgeable, all
the best traders that I know, ignore this niche.
So your competition are fucking idiots.
Picture the hyenas in The Lion King.
Like Ed, that's the typical penny stock trader.
Ed.
If you go to my conference, the most popular thing at my conference very year is when we
give out free pens.
If I hold up a pen, all the little hyenas are loving it, for a stupid little thing that's
made in China for three cents, and they're just dumb hyenas.
It's not their fault, they're trying to scrape by, like they're living off scraps.
That's what most penny stock traders are.
So, thinking about all this, if you have a platform that has tools and news and social
media scanning, where you can actually search through Twitter, you can search through all
of social media, using filters.
There's also 40 plus filters built in, scanning stocks, the biggest percent gainers, intraday,
over three days, over five days, these are my 40 plus scans that I use everyday to find
the hottest stocks.
That is what is most needed in a platform.
You need to use this to find the best trades.
If you use a platform that is sub-par, if you use something that is not specifically
designed for this, you might miss a really good trade, and I hate seeing that, I hate
underappreciated opportunities, underutilized strategies.
I hate missed opportunities, so use StocksToTrade.
There's so many videos on it, there's tutorials, my student Tim Bowen who's a part time trader,
is the lead trainer on StocksToTrade.
If you check out StocksToTrade Pro, he'll help you get all into the platform in ways
that are really beneficial to you.
We're just getting started.
There's gonna be broker integration, there's so much more stuff, paper money where you
can actually practice with fantasy cash.
That's very good for beginners, too.
So, as we build StocksToTrade more, you're gonna love it.
So start using it today.
Start getting used to it, because it does take some time to learn a new platform, and
I don't want you missing out.
I don't want you missing opportunities.
That's the only platform that I would use.
It's in my own best interest to create my most successful students.
It's good for my ego, it's good for my business, it's good for you.
So, please don't fight me on this, use StocksToTrade.
We built it for you to make life easier.
In the past I've had 30 websites that I had to use to research stocks.
You don't have to use any of that anymore.
It's all built into StocksToTrade.
You're welcome.

Queen ill health: What is wrong with the Queen? Why has she cancelled St Pauls today? - Duration: 2:58.
The Queen has pulled out of a service at St Paul's Cathedral because she is feeling "under the weather"
The 92-year-old was due to attend the service to mark the 200th anniversary of the Order of St Michael and St George
She will instead be represented by the Duke of Kent. The shock announcement has left royal fans fearing for the Queen's health
What is wrong with the Queen? A spokeswoman for Buckingham Palace said: "The Queen is feeling under the weather today and has decided not to attend this morning's service at St Paul's Cathedral marking the 200th anniversary of the Order of Michael and St George
"Her Majesty will be represented by the Duke of Kent as the grand master of the order

Every outfit the former US actress wears is now heavily scrutinised following her marriage to Prince Harry on May 19
However, it seems as though she has been sending a powerful message with each of the incredible outfits she has worn for her first public appearances as a royal
On each public outing, the 36-year-old has worn dresses designed by a woman, or made at a fashion house with a female working as head designer – in a nod to her feminist views
Meghan wore an understated wedding dress by Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy couture
While some thought the dress was too minimal, it reflected the bride's personal polished and modern style
For her evening reception, she changed into a halter-neck sleeveless fishtail dress by Stella McCartney
A few days later for Prince Charles' 70th birthday celebrations on May 22, the Duchess of Sussex wore The Flavia silk-crepe pencil dress by Goat
This brand was established by founder and designer Jane Lewis in 2001. For Trooping of the Colour, she wore a blush pink dress by Caroline Herrera, a designer favoured in many royal circles
She chose Givenchy again for her first Royal Ascot, as well as her first appearance without her Royal Prince in Cheshire with the Queen
This week she wore a blush Prada skirt suit for the Queen's Young Leaders Awards at Buckingham Palace
She also enlisted the help of other females to create her perfect wedding. The wedding cake was designed by acclaimed London baker Claire Ptak
Her floral concept was created by royal florist Philippa Craddock. What other things has Meghan done differently to other royals? Meghan declared she was "proud to be a feminist" as she entered the Royal Family
She has defied conventions in a number of ways and done things differently to other royal females
She walked down the aisle solo after her father Thomas Markle was unable to attend the Royal Wedding due to ill health
The Duchess travelled with her mother Doria Ragland to St George's Chapel after she was unable to carry out the traditional father-of-the-bride car ride
She also omitted the word "Obey" from her wedding vows. She even gave her own speech at the wedding reception, despite men usually being the ones to conduct the speeches

Curious Adelaide: What's behind the rivalry between South Australia and Victoria? - Duration: 10:45.
Curious Adelaide: Exploring the cross-border rivalry between South Australia and Victoria By Camron Slessor When you think about Australia's biggest cross-border rivalries, the feud between South Australia and Victoria often comes to mind
Which state makes the best beer? Which has the most liveable city? Why did Victoria steal the Grand Prix? Numerous questions were submitted to the ABC's Curious Adelaide team surrounding the rivalry and while there are many opinions around it, we've decided to delve into one contributing factor — Aussie Rules football
Australian Rules a key factor One historian from Adelaide believes the rivalry stemmed from the adoption of the game
"We adopted what was originally called Victorian Rules, before it was known as Australian Rules
"In fact, the New South Wales people had been playing the game early on against the Victorians, but they regarded the Victorians as tyrants, so they basically chucked it and imported rugby
"Here [in South Australia] we adopted the rules and our early competition — it was sort of a situation where we liked to measure our improvement by our performances against the Victorians
"It was a bit like the way we tried to measure our performances in cricket against England
" Victoria dominated early, but SA improved Although South Australia has always had plenty of talent on the football field, results didn't come easy in the early days of the game
"In our early games in the 19th century we were generally thrashed by the Victorians, but if we made odd improvements, that was something," Dr Whimpress said
"The other thing that we did in those times was inter-colonial club games of football
"What this meant that teams like Norwood or Port Adelaide, this would happen every year, all the main sides and some Victorian sides too, would take a week or 10 days off during the season and go and tour interstate
"For example, in 1888, Norwood played an end of season, what they called a Championship of Australia game against South Melbourne at the Kensington Oval and beat them in three successive matches — and they were the Victorian premiers
" More success followed for South Australia into the 1900s.Fos Williams a driver for rivalry Foster Neil 'Fos' Williams was a leading Australian Rules footballer who played for and coached the Port Adelaide and West Adelaide footballs clubs
He also coached South Adelaide in the SANFL, played 34 interstate games for South Australia as well as coached the side in 45 games
Dr Whimpress said Williams "added a lot" to the rivalry with Victoria, simply because of his passion for South Australian success
"The real thing that leads up to this [rivalry] is probably associated with a very famous figure in South Australian football in Fos Williams," he said
"He coached Port for a very long time and had all this success in the [1950s] with a very hard team who won six premierships in a row
"Williams also played an enormous number of state games and was captain and captain-coach
"After he retired in 1958, he was mainly the coach of the state team over the next few years and he was always grilling the side
Absence from the AFL Hall of Fame Dr Whimpress said he also believed there have been some "scandalous" omissions in the AFL Hall of Fame for South Australian players — which is often thought to be heavily biased towards Victorian players
He worked at the SANFL from 1979 to 1983 and was a big influence in naming the South Australian players to be nominated for the awards
"In 1996 I made the selections on behalf of the SANFL, there was a committee but basically I made all the selections and they agreed to them," he said
"There's one fellow who was nominated on the original list and is still not in the AFL Hall of Fame, he's a fellow called Tom Leahy
"He was a ruckman, his playing career was from 1903 to about 1921 — he played a lot of state games
"They used to have a lot of these events called interstate carnivals which would be played every three years
"He was in [the team] in 1908, 1911, 1914 and another one in 1921, so he played in all of those carnivals
Dr Whimpress said while he believed many of those who were already in the AFL Hall of Fame deserved to be there, there were some from South Australia who had been overlooked
"Interestingly, Ken Farmer, the famous goal kicker, he was an original nomination, and a third nomination, Neil Kerley, these were the ones who didn't get up in 1996
"They were scandalous omissions from that first selection that was made in 1996 — for the centenary in 1997
"Farmer has now been added and Kerley has been added, but Leahy has still never been
"Some of the selections that were made were just blokes who happened to be their contemporaries, whereas there were some good ones here [in SA] who missed out
State of Origin games were 'great contests' State of Origin is no longer a part of Aussie Rules football, but it had a lot of success when introduced in 1977
In fact in 1989, a crowd of more than 90,000 people attended a game between South Australia and Victoria at the MCG
Dr Whimpress said the State of Origin era was the pinnacle of the cross-border rivalry and he was still bitter that the games had been wiped out
"When we first had the State of Origin matches, over the next few years, we actually led the Victorians 8-6 or something like that," he said
"These were great contests and then they throw it over when they formed the AFL which is a ridiculous thing because with Rugby League, the highlight of their season is the State of Origin and they were second off the mark with it
" While the rivalry does still remain between South Australia and Victoria these days, Dr Whimpress said he didn't think it was as prominent as it used to be
"I don't think our interstate passions are that great but they do come out and are still expressed through sport," he said
"I think those that were there with the State of Origin, for those who remember it, that made for some big rivalries
"
