The DARK TRUTH About KFC - Duration: 3:05.

We all know that KFC's chicken features a blend of 11 secret herbs and spices.

But the truth is, the truth behind KFC's seasoning is not what you would expect, and

there might be some extra sort of 'ingredients' on the food at KFC that would make you sick

to your stomach if you knew about it.

Well, get your barf bags ready because I'm going to tell you here on IO.

didn't need to or want to know.

The fact that KFC has a secret recipe of 11 herbs and spices makes it, you've gotta

admit, appetizing.

But according to a lab analysis of KFC's chicken conducted by William Poundstone, the

sample of coating mix on the chicken was found to contain 4 ingredients.

Flour, salt, monosodium glutamate AKA MSG, and black pepper.

None of those ingredients are even considered herbs.

Its just regular old fried chicken.

So as if that isn't bad enough.

According to an old viral video that is making its way around the internet again, KFC employees

take old food and repackage it to that it can be served to unsuspecting customers the

next day.

The video shows the employees dumping frankly, disgusting looking green beans, mac and cheese

and fried chicken.

The chicken was let out all day, for almost 24 hours.

Yes, it could be that the employees hated their jobs or they got fired and wanted to

make KFC look bad.

But based on the accounts of the employees, they were told to do this by their management.

I would like to say that obviously what goes on behind the scenes at KFC depends on the

location and the locations manager.

When a representative of KFC came forward to address the horrendous video, they said

that it was an isolated restaurant and it doesn't accurately represent KFC's food

handling procedures.

Its not clear what branch of KFC this video was taken at.

Since 2016, the company has tried to do a major revamping of their products.

They retrained all their employees and added a new satisfaction guarantee.

But the last piece of information I will share about KFC, has to do with the company that

supplies their chickens.

In a video shared by PETA, people for the ethical treatment of animals, a narrator shares

his experiences as an undercover investigator owned by Tyson foods, the true reality of

the slaughterhouses were revealed.

Employees were caught on video doing all manner of disgusting things to live animals.

Chickens are sent to the killing machine hanging from their ankles, fully aware and awake.

See, this is why I have trust issues.

Book Review - I'll Be Gone in the Dark + 3 true crime book recommendations - Duration: 7:13.

Hi, guys. I'm Beth. This is read remark. Today we are going to talk about true

crime books, particularly I'll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara.

I'll Be Gone in the Dark is a book, in my opinion, that is as much about the author as it

is about its subject matter. She follows a man who's been dubbed the east area

rapist, or ear for short. She has called him the golden state killer. Over a

series of many many years throughout the state of California, starting I believe

in the 1960s or 1970s, he has left a long line of rapes and murders. Horrific.

The the detail that she describes here is just so disturbing

that you can't even really make that stuff up for books. If you put it into a

book then critics like me would probably

...not critics but *reviewers* like me...

would probably say that it's a little it's a little bit extra. A little bit too far.

Not quite realistic. But when she describes this stuff actually happening

in real life it makes me so tense, thinking about what these poor

people went through.

So, Michelle McNamara, the author of this book, she is part of a

community of true crime aficionados, and really that's not quite the right

word to describe them. I would say maybe they're just more like true crime

followers. And so wherever the official detectives the police working on these

cases either come up short or hit brick walls that they just can't seem to move

past, this group of true crime followers will just keep at it, keep at

it, keep at it and sometimes they'll find clues or have ideas that really make a

break in the case. She followed this case really to her own peril. She was so

engrossed in it, lost sleep over it, you know really

pouring herself into it. She passed away pretty famously. Her husband was Patton

Oswalt and he had the dedication to see this book through and get it published.

The case was broken, really I would say thanks to her.

Of course, the hard-working detectives and all the people involved in the case

really got it done, but she was the engine that kept driving it, kept pushing it.

Even when a horrific case is solved, it doesn't really undo all the horrors

that came before it, including the author's own death. So, really good

book tinged with sadness throughout, including at the very end. Now I'm gonna

go ahead and recommend three more true crime novels, if you are so inclined, that

you may enjoy. The first one is American Fire by Monica Hesse. This was a really

interesting book, not necessarily because it was bloody. In fact, this was a

crime in which there were no fatalities. It involved a couple who set a series

of dozens and dozens and dozens of fires over a several month span.

It's a kind of fascinating to look at the psychology behind it, to look at what was

going on in their lives to make them want to do that, to look at how many

resources at ate up and how it really kind of made this series of small towns

all up and down the counties feeling really ill at ease because you never

knew what was gonna go up in flames next, including historical buildings. The next

book I'm going to recommend is Missoula by Jon Krakauer. In fact, I would

recommend you read pretty much anything by Jon Krakauer. But Missoula in

particular was pretty eye-opening for me because it looked at the the college

campus in Missoula and the series of rapes that happened there. Now, what was

eye-opening for me was the definition of rape. It's not necessarily about having

to say no. Instead, it's more about not being able to say yes. A lot of these

rapes that happened were to women who were passed out drunk or women who were

asleep or in some other way incapacitated and never had the

opportunity to consent in the first place. So, being able to wrap my head

around defining that as rape was really eye-opening for me. And then it's also

depressingly eye-opening to see the prevalence of rape and just

how much of it there is. And I can tell you that I had some conversations with

my boys afterwards just to make sure they understood exactly what consent was

and, you know, to not rape.

Another book that I'm gonna recommend is Devil

in the White City by Eric Larsen. In fact, I think pretty much everyone recommends

this book because it's just that good. It simultaneously follows the Chicago

World's Fair, the preparations for that, and the serial killer HH Holmes.

H.H. Holmes was another one of those cases that you just can't make this stuff up.

If you tried to, people would accuse you of being a little too extra.

He literally built a murder hotel where people would check in but they would

never check out because he would murder them. I mean, the contraptions he thought

of included a chute that he could dump bodies down, an incinerator

where he could burn them. He would have airtight rooms that he would then fill

with poison. I mean, it's just insane the amount of stuff that he did and got away

with for so long. He would murder entire families. It's so hard to wrap

my head around that it's something that actually happened, but it did. And then, oh

yeah, it looks that the world's fair also as they were building that, which is

interesting, but the whole time I was like, "Get back to HH Holmes! What is

happening now?!" So really great book. If you can only read one true crime book,

I would definitely say read that one... Well now I'm doing a disservice to the

other books. You know what, read them all. You've got the time...Maybe you don't, but

do it anyway. A book on my to be read list is The Good Nurse. I haven't um

heard much about it. I don't like going into these books knowing too much

because I don't want to set any sort of expectation ahead of time, but I think

it's about a nurse who kills her patients. So, should be interesting. Hmmmmm.

So, four true-crime recommendations for those of you like me who have a dark

soul and enjoy reading such things for some godforsaken reason. All right, thank

Eucalyptus has shown prominent results in killing head lice as it contains antiseptic properties

Rosemary contains insecticidal and antiseptic properties which help to deal with head lice

Combined one teaspoon of tea tree oil and 1 teaspoon of either rosemary or eucalyptus oil

pour this solution into your shampoo and conditioner and mix well now

You can use them regularly to wash your hair

repeat the process three times in a week

6 tea tree oil with coconut oil and shampoo the viscosity of this combination

Suffocates the head lice to breathe feed and reproduce

This makes them impossible to live and eventually die as per a clinical study

Coconut oil has shown effective results over the commercial treatments containing permethrin

5 combined one teaspoon of tea tree oil one ounce of natural shampoo and three tablespoons of coconut oil

Apply the solution to the scalp and hair cover your hair with either a towel or a shower cap

Leave it on for 30 minutes comb your hair thoroughly to remove the dead lice

Wash your hair normally with shampoo and conditioner repeat 2 to 3 times in a week

7 tea tree oil and lavender oil

Lavender oil has natural and E insect repellent properties

The combination of lavender oil and tea tree oil act as suffocation agent, which makes it hard for head lice to breathe

Combine 1 TSP of tea tree oil and 1/2 TSP of lavender oil

Apply the solution on to the scalp and hair leave the application for an hour or overnight

Comb your hair thoroughly to remove head lice and wash your hair normally

repeat the process two to three times in a week 8

Tea tree oil and olive oil the insecticidal properties of olive oil killed the head lice

The combination of tea tree oil and olive oil makes it hard for head lice to crawl on the scalp

A dark hole planet? Astronomers find a "Hot Jupiter" that absorbs almost all light that hits it - Duration: 7:49.

 One of the more recently discovered exoplanets is a rather special one. A U.K. study reported that WASP-104b gobbles up almost all the light that strikes its haze-covered surface

This dark hole of a planet is called a "hot Jupiter," a Science Alert article states

 Hot Jupiters are a type of gas giant that have around the same mass as their namesake

Unlike Jupiter, these planets are often found orbiting much closer to their parent stars

And just like Venus, they are blisteringly hot.  These exoplanets are common enough, but they possess certain traits that lend them an air of mystery

The most notable characteristic is that they are darker than most planets.  The typical hot Jupiter absorbs 60 percent of the light sent its way by the parent star

Every now and then, planet hunters come across individuals that are much dimmer than the standard

(Related: Scientists discover 15 new planets, including one “super-Earth†that could harbor liquid water

)  One example is WASP-12b. First spotted in 2008, it was recently found to swallow up at least 94 percent of the light from its parent star

One of the darkest planets in the galaxy is too hot for clouds or ice  Now it has a challenger

A Keele University (Keele) research team announced that WASP-104b absorbs anywhere from 97 to 99 percent of the light that reaches it

 In an interview, Keele researcher Teo Mocnik believes Wasp-104b is one of the darkest hot Jupiters

The current champ is TrES-2b, which only reflects 0.1 percent. The exoplanet orbits a yellow dwarf called WASP-104

This star is part of the constellation Leo and situated 466 light years from the Sun

 WASP-104b always presents the same side to its parent star. That sunny side will never know darkness, just as the opposite side of the planet will never see the light of day

Furthermore, the planet is located a mere 2.6 million miles (4.3 million km) from its home star

In contrast, Mercury orbits our Sun at a respectful distance of 35.98 million miles

 It takes WASP-104b less than two days to finish its small orbit. The day side is too hot for clouds or ice, which are two of the things that make a planet or moon shine like a star in the night sky

 Researchers also theorize its thick, hazy atmosphere contains large amounts of potassium and sodium

These elements absorb visible light, which means the day side is very dark despite always facing its star

 The night side might be cool enough to allow clouds. But since WASP-104b is tidally-locked, that cool side will never get any daylight that it can reflect

Hot Jupiters do not reflect light, but they are not invisible  Hot Jupiters might be dimmer than the usual gas giant, but their lack of reflective light doesn't make them any harder to spot

Planet hunters don't look for the light reflected by exoplanets, anyway.  Astronomers use the transit method, where they look for regular periods when a star goes dim because its orbiting planet is blocking the light sent their way

NASA's soon-to-be-retired Kepler space telescope found thousands of exoplanets this way

 Another way to find hot Jupiters is to use the radial velocity method. Researchers look for instances of stars that are moving in small circles

 A hot Jupiter is big enough and close enough to its parent star that its gravitational pull can cause the star to visibly "wobble

"  Hot Jupiters are also not black in color. They don't reflect light from their home star, but they do give off light because they're so hot
