24 hours remain for us to catch as many species as possible.
We have to catch a pike - we are starving.
Specie number 7!
Niclas, we've caught seven species today.
Today am I and Niclas Edström going to do a challenge
... we're supposed to catch as many species in different lakes as possible.
In the loop of 24 hours.
We'll start out at a place owned by Eksjö Fiskeklubb.
The lake we'll be fishing is lake Solgen.
Solgen holds a good amount of zander
... and some perch and pike.
We'll start out by trying to catch zander, pike and perch.
After catching these species we'll continue to our next lake.
Let's go!
We've just arrived to out fishing spot.
I'm really excited about this, what about you Niclas? - Me too!
This will be really fun.
The spot is between two islands
... and from my experience this place holds a lot of small zanders, perch and a few pikes.
I'll begin with perch gear.
Our primary goal isn't to catch big fish, just one of each specie is enough for us.
So, downsizing allows me to be able to catch every specie.
I'll rig my perch rod.
I'll start out with the same gear as Tobias - however using a hard bait.
This one has a tungsten weight attached to his head which allows the bait to stand up on the bottom.
I'll start out with a jig - Monkey Shad.
... a new bait for us on Kanalgratis.
This bait has delivered during the test fishing.
This will work out fine for zander.
We're using a leader - 0.45 mm flourocarbon.
And an eight foot gator rod.
The rod has a strong back bone.
Let's go Niclas!
The timer has started - 24 hours to catch as many specie as possible.
Let's go!
First cast! - Catch a fish as well!
A zander would be lovely.
Fish!
I belive it's a perch.
After 5 minutes of fishing I caught the first specie - perch.
Catching a fish this early feels good.
Let's release this and go for zander.
Fish on! I think it's a zander.
It's a nice perch.
A well sized perch.
Beautiful colors.
Since we've already caught this specie (perch) this fish was actually useless.
However, nice perch let's keep fishing.
We've just caught perch this time.
The zander is not here - perhaps we have to photoshop one in.
We just don't catch any zander!
This was harder than expected.
The wind has increased, thus making our plan B worthless.
So we are forced to keep fishing around these small islands and hope for the best.
Soon we just have to swap specie.
We just can't keep fishing for zander the entire time.
I see a boat overthere - let's ask them.
It does not look bright for us at the moment.
Yes!
We've faught so hard.
Finally we caught a zander!
Great Niclas! - feels so good.
Let's release it.
Next specie now!
We've caught two species - zander & perch.
Luckily we caught a zander in the drop.
We'll aim for a lake on the way to my home.
A place that we could easily catch a pike at.
Let's go for that lake!
Hopefully we'll catch one fast
... So we can aim for the next specie.
We've arrived to the pike - lake.
We'll fish around the shallow parts.
Hopefully this does not take too long.
I'll start out with the same gear.
Nice! good Tobias! - Net net!
Just got to unfold this net.
Great Tobias!
We've been fishing for half an hour.
We was like: we just have to catch a pike - we're starving.
And out of nowhere a pike strikes.
The exciting parts about this competition is that you always get excited when you get a bite.
Specie number 3.
Pike - done.
Not the longest, prettiest and biggest pike
... however it's a specie point.
Let's get some pizza now so we can keep on fishing.
Off we go Niclas!
The boat I'm using is a Alumacraft Escape 165 CS.
The thing I enjoy about this boat is that we're ramping
... with only a two-drifted car
... since the boat is very light.
It performs really well in these bigger lakes such as Vättern.
It also allows you to carry all your stuff despite it's size.
We've caught the predator species.
So now we'll start fishing for white fish, at Emån.
Chub, bream, roach, bleak .
We'll start baiting the area we'll fish in.
Using a top knotted 7 meter rod.
Hoping to catch as many species as possible.
Let's make the ground bait that will attract the fish.
When fishing for white fish I usually go for the less streamy parts.
I make the bait in a similar size to an orange.
Like this.
During the time we wait for our bait to do the work
we spotted some bleak.
Niclas will start the fishing aimed for bleak.
Go catch a bleak. - first try.
That looks good.
Fish on
Pull!
What a counter- strike.
Personal best on bleak.
It's a bleak. Specie number four done.
When trying to catch chub, bream or roach I'm only using one piece of corn on my hook.
Corn is a great bait.
What's happening?
It's a chub!
Specie number 5 done.
Lovely Tobbe!
The species left are roach, sarv and bream.
Chubs are actually quite rare.
Took on the corn!
There!
I believe it's a roach.
Specie number 6 - roach.
Six species are quite good.
Let's release it.
There!
It's a chub but I really want a bream.
The remaining species are worth more right now.
Come on bream!
Hold this!
Looks like a bream!
Bream!
Specie number 7 - bream!
It's lovely outside, perhaps we should continue our fishing.
Let's release this bream.
And keep fishing till darkness!
It was a successful fishing session.
So let's head home and sleep.
We arrived pretty late last night so we slept a lot.
It's therefor pretty late in the day - 9 am.
So we have half an hour left of fishing.
I live nearby.
Let's go for sarv.
Using the same rod as yesterday.
Tied to a float with two maggots.
Roach.
Sarv!
Like ten minutes left and I just caught this specie.
9 species!
I certainly don't believe we'll catch another specie in 10 minutes.
Bye bye.
There it was!
The 24 hours are over - we caught 8 species
... perch, zander, pike, chub, roach, bream and sarv.
And bleak too!
That's quite good.
What we'll do now is challenging two other youtube channels
... to repeat what we did, catching as many species as possible within 24 hours.
We challenge: Carl And Alex Fishing from the UK
... and my friends from Sundsvall, Baitbox Blogg.
Tight lines!
Comment and like if you enjoyed this video.
Take care! Bye!
