[♪INTRO]

We've spent a lot of time talking about what the courts are and how they work, and

maybe you're starting to think the court system is as fascinating and important as

we think it is.

But if it feels like all of this stuff happens in some big marble building somewhere far

away, that you have about as much power to affect as how fast your fingernails grow,

well, good news: you have more power in the court system than you think.

We're gonna talk about a few different ways you can make change in the courts, going in

order from easiest to hardest.

The first thing you can do is vote.

Right, I know you can't vote for federal judges.

But you can definitely vote for the President who nominates them and the senators that confirm them.

And, in most states you can also vote for the judges in your state court system.

Remember, when a seat in the federal courts needs to be filled, senators usually look

to the judges on the state courts to decide who to nominate.

So that person whose name you maybe don't remember because you skipped that part on

your ballot, or because you didn't even know that judges were gonna be on there?

That person could be a federal judge of tomorrow.

If you're watching this video, you're probably going to vote anyway, is my guess.

At least I hope you are.

And whether it's directly or indirectly, the people who represent us get their jobs

because we put them there.

So I encourage you to take a little bit of time to look up your sample ballot, figure

out who is running for judge seats in your district, maybe check out their websites and

get to know what they're about, and then head to the polls prepared.

Also, if you aren't voting already, and you're going to be 18 or older by the next

election, now's a great time to start.

So if you want to make a difference in the courts, register to vote, and vote in every election.

The next thing you can do is keep an eye on what's going on with nominations to the court.

I'm gonna link a resource in the description—it's called judicial nominations.org, and it's

a website where you can look up which seats are vacant in your district and who is being

nominated for them.

You can even read the questionnaire that the nominee gives the Senate and the President

that lists all their experience, their speeches and writings, and summaries of the cases they've decided.

Learning who these nominees are is a great first step to getting involved in the judicial

nomination process.

The second step, of course, is talking about it.

If you look up a nominee from your state and think, "this person doesn't seem like

someone I want making decisions that affect me for a whole lifetime appointment," tell

your Senators.

Remember, the Senate has to consent to the President's nominations.

And if they, or the people they represent, think the nominee isn't qualified, they

can vote no.

If you're not totally sure what you think of the nominee, you're also allowed to ask

questions.

You can ask how your senator plans to vote, why they think the nominee is or isn't qualified.

You can ask about the nominee's ABA rating, or their judicial philosophy.

You could even ask about the nominee's Hogwarts house if you wanted to.

Not saying you're gonna get an answer for that, but questions and conversation are part

of a healthy democracy.

You might be surprised to find out just how much your Senators want to hear from you.

Just, y'know, maybe leave out your sorting hat fan theories.

There are a bunch of different ways you can contact your Senators, and there's some

links in the description to help you do it, but you can call them, email, write a letter,

show up at a town hall, or even call their office and ask to set up a meeting, face-to-face.

Another thing you can try if you want to make a difference, is talk about the courts to

your family and friends.

It can be as simple as telling them what you've learned from these videos, or following cases

in the courts and asking your family what they think about them.

The more people we have paying attention to the courts, the better.

So, if your group chat is talking about student protests, for example, let them know that

it was the Supreme Court that made sure schools couldn't punish students for speaking out,

in a 1969 case called Tinker v. Des Moines.

Make sure they know that the courts have the power to interpret laws in ways that help

people, and that you want them to be a part of shaping how the law works in real life,

with you.

It's a project you can work on together.

Okay, last thing here, and this is a big one, so take a second to picture some bald eagles,

or whatever makes you feel most invested in your civic duty.

If you're a US citizen, and you're old enough, You can run for office.

We talk in lots of metaphors about making your voice heard, and how your voice matters.

But what if it was actually your voice?

Like your actual, physical talky bits?

You're probably not going to run for a state judicial seat, or for US Senate right away,

but you could make a lot of impact on the way there by running for local office.

The people who are going to be Senators in 10 or 20 years, advising on and consenting

to federal judge nominations—they're probably running for offices like city council, or

state representative right now.

So if you've ever thought about running, maybe it's time go for it.

No matter where you're at in learning about our federal court system, I hope you understand

by now that even if you ignore the courts, they don't ignore you.

The federal court system matters to me, to you, and to everyone around us, and you have

the power to do something about it.

And that's a really cool thing.

When you pay attention, when you speak up, you're helping make sure our laws reflect

our values, and you're helping make our communities and our country a better, fairer

place.

So I hope you've found at least one way that you want to get involved.

Thanks for watching.

Trump says N. Korea has returned remains of 200 U.S. soldiers - Duration: 2:09.

North Korea has reportedly returned the remains of scores of American soldiers who died during

the Korean War.

U.S. President Donald Trump said as much during a campaign rally on Wednesday.

That said,... despite Trump's comments and a Wall Street Journal report,... there's been

no confirmation yet from military authorities.

Ko Roon-hee reports.

Speaking at a rally in Minnesota on Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump said North Korea

has returned the remains of 200 U.S. troops missing from the Korean War.

"We got back our great fallen heroes, the remains, in fact today, already 200 have been

sent back."

Multiple news outlets had been saying the transfer was going to happen soon,... citing

U.S. officials.

The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday that they would be handed over in the next

day or two.

A U.S. official told the Journal that the remains would likely be brought to Osan Air

Base, located some 60 kilometers south of Seoul.

After a ceremony, the official said, they would be sent to Hickam Air Force Base in

Hawaii for scientific testing and identification.

However, the official pointed out that the remains are "co-mingled."

This means that there might be individuals of other nationalities, not just Americans.

After the identification process, non-U.S. remains will be sent back to their home countries.

This comes after President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un signed a joint statement

at their summit in Singapore on June 12th... in which they committed to recovering the

remains of prisoners of war and those missing in action from the Korean War,… including

the immediate repatriation of those already identified.

According to the U.S. Department of Defense, about 77-hundred U.S. military personnel remain

unaccounted from the Korean War… of whom about 53-hundred are estimated to be in North

Korea.

Meanwhile, South Korea's defense ministry said it can't confirm anything yet... including

where the transfer was to take place.

U.S. needs to create painful environment in trade': Ross - Duration: 0:57.

U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross says Washington needs to create a painful environment for

trading partners with high trade barriers.

He made the comments during a CNBC interview on Thursday, adding such measure were required

to achieve President Trump's ultimate goal of lower barriers and a level playing field.

He also singled out China, saying it's "compounded by their disrespect of intellectual property,

the forced technology transfers, the cybersecurity breaches."

China's commerce ministry hit back, accusing the U.S. of being "protectionist" and "blackmailing"

by threatening to impose further tariffs on Chinese goods.

It also said trade talks between both countries were being put at risk due to Washington's

unpredictable and hostile manner.

The ministry was responding to Trump's threat earlier this week to impose 200 billion dollars

of Chinese imports with ten percent tariffs if Beijing retaliates to his previous duties

announcement.

Devin Nunes Uttered The Nine Words That Ended Obama's Deep State - Duration: 11:42.

Devin Nunes Uttered The Nine Words That Ended Obama's Deep State

Devin Nunes has been locked in combat with Barack Obama's Deep State.

But that fight is heading toward the end game.

That's because Nunes appeared on Fox News and uttered the nine words that destroyed

Obama's Deep State.

Nunes was being interviewed on Fox and Friends about the latest developments in the Russia

investigation.

The House Intelligence Committee Chairman discussed the latest bombshell about the FBI

having planted a spy in the Trump campaign.

But that wasn't all.

Nunes unleashed a political earthquake when he tied it together with how the Russia investigation

began.

During the interview, Nunes stunned viewers when he discussed the intelligence he reviewed

and declared that "…because we have yet to see any credible evidence," it should

have caused the FBI to open a counterintelligence investigation.

The Daily Caller reports:

"LET'S TALK ABOUT HOW DID THIS GET STARTED?

YOU HAD FUSION GPS THAT WAS HIRED BY THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY AND THE CLINTON CAMPAIGN TO DRAW UP

A DOSSIER ON THE PRESIDENT — OR AS THE PRESIDENT WAS RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT," NUNES SAID TUESDAY

ON "FOX & FRIENDS."

"WHAT HAPPENED WITH THAT IS THAT IN [GLEN SIMPSON'S] TESTIMONY HE MENTIONED THAT THERE

WAS A SOURCE WITHIN THE CAMPAIGN.

NUNES SAID GLENN SIMPSON, THE HEAD OF FUSION GPS, TOLD CONGRESS HE WAS BEING TRUTHFUL ABOUT

A MOLE WITHIN THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN AND PREDICTED THE FALLOUT WOULD TARNISH THE FBI AND DOJ.

"GLENN SIMPSON SAID THAT IN WHAT WAS CLOSED TESTIMONY.

THEN IT BECAME PUBLIC.

NOW HE'S CONFIRMED THAT HE WAS TELLING CONGRESS THE TRUTH, WHICH IS PROBABLY A GOOD IDEA,"

NUNES CONTINUED.

"WE BELIEVE HE WAS TELLING THE TRUTH.

AND WHAT WE'RE TRYING TO DO IS GET THE DOCUMENTS TO FIGURE OUT — DID THEY ACTUALLY HAVE,

WHAT METHODS WERE USED TO OPEN THIS COUNTER INTELLIGENCE INVESTIGATION?"

"I THINK WHAT IT REALLY MEANS, I THINK IT WILL LOOK BADLY ON THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE

AND THE FBI ON HOW THEY CONDUCTED THIS INVESTIGATION," NUNES SAID.

HE ALSO SAID THE ENTIRE INVESTIGATION INTO PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP LACKED CREDIBILITY

FROM THE START.

"I THINK IF THE CAMPAIGN WAS SOMEHOW SET UP, I THINK THAT WOULD BE A PROBLEM.

RIGHT?

IF THEY WERE SOMEHOW MEETINGS THAT OCCURRED AND ALL OF THIS WAS A SETUP," NUNES SAID.

"BECAUSE WE HAVE YET TO SEE ANY CREDIBLE EVIDENCE OR INTELLIGENCE THAT LED TO THE OPENING

OF THIS INVESTIGATION."

As this investigation drags on towards its conclusion, Americans are wondering why it's

not the FBI and Mueller under investigation.

This whole Russia probe was a pretense to frame Trump for collusion in order to destroy

him politically and legally.

We will keep you up to date on any new

developments

in

this story.

How The US Made China Great Again - Duration: 6:19.

"Made in China" are the three words you can find on almost any product you can buy

today.

In the span of only twenty years, the Chinese share of global manufacturing has increased

by a factor of ten and a big part of what made that possible is e-commerce.

Sites like Amazon and eBay made billions of dollars by connecting Chinese factories with

American customers and this connection is part of the reason why the US had a record-breaking

trade deficit with China last year, a statistic that Donald Trump is aggressively trying to

change.

But one of the key players behind the rise of Chinese manufacturing is an all-too-familiar

face.

In today's episode, we'll see how the USPS helped make China great again.

By the way, when you're done watching this video head on over to Cheddar's channel

to learn why the USPS is the delivery service of choice for online drug dealers.

At the heart of the Chinese e-commerce boom is a very simple calculation.

It is going to cost you less money to send a small package from China to an American

city than it's going to cost you to send the very same package within the continental

US.

Here's how that happens: let's say a Chinese merchant sends a one-pound package from China

to the US.

China Post handles moving that package across the Pacific, and because of their low labor

cost, government subsidies and exceptional aggregate capacity the Chinese merchant pays

almost nothing to cover this huge distance in less than two weeks.

The international part of the journey costs so little, that the Chinese merchant can include

the shipping cost in his price and say his product has "free shipping", which of

course it doesn't because there's no such thing as a free lunch, but the final price

is still so cheap in the eyes of Americans that it does look like free shipping.

But the magic part is what happens to the Chinese package once it reaches the US.

The USPS handles the final leg of the journey, delivering the Chinese package from the US

port-of-entry to its final destination, and for this service it charges China Post a fee

known as a "terminal due".

The fee that China Post pays to the USPS is almost always less than what it would cost

an American citizen to send the same package internally.

In fact, the USPS charges so little that it actually loses money by doing the delivery.

On average the USPS loses about a dollar and ten cents on every Chinese package, but the

worst part is the USPS can't really do anything about it.

You see, almost all national carriers in the world, including the USPS, are part of the

Universal Postal Union, which basically determines the terminal dues between countries.

The UPU is part of the United Nations, but it's actually one of the oldest international

organizations in existence and was only later absorbed into the UN.

As befitting of any bureaucratic institution, the UPU reacts very slowly to changes in how

the world works, and they totally failed to react to the rise of e-commerce.

Officially, the UPU considers China as a developing country, granting it the same low terminal

dues it gives to countries like Jamaica or Serbia.

The result is a staggering series of losses that make the USPS the worst-performing national

carrier in the entire world.

Of course, because the USPS is a federal agency eventually all of these losses are going to

be paid for with taxpayer money.

As of 2017 the USPS is down a collective $60 billion.

Now, it's worth mentioning here that a big chunk of this debt is due to prepaid retirement

benefits, which is a totally separate can of worms that deserves its own video.

But even if we discount the healthcare mess made by Congress, the USPS still has $20 billion

more in liabilities than assets and the Chinese e-commerce boom is increasing that number

every year.

In fact, very recently the US government put another nail in the USPS coffin by raising

what is known as the "de minimis" value on US imports.

This number essentially tells you the maximum shipment value you can send to the US without

being subject to import duties, which are annoying to file and usually very expensive.

Up until recently that number was $200, but then in 2016 president Obama signed the Trade

Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act, which made sweeping changes to a lot of trade regulations,

but also raised the minimum exemption from $200 to $800.

For comparison the minimum values in France and Germany are 150 euro, while in the UK

it's 135 pounds.

The bad news is that the situation isn't likely to improve anytime soon.

The USPS has its hands tied by the UPU, which moves at a glacial pace.

The organization meets once every four years to set future rates and the last time they

met was in 2016, where they decided on the rates to be used from 2018 to 2021.

The actual problem is that national governments don't really pay attention to the UPU and

representation is usually left to loosely supervised political panels that have other

problems to solve.

Even Donald Trump hasn't blamed the UPU itself; instead he's going for the much

more visible questions, like international tariffs or the rates Amazon and private carriers

are getting from the USPS.

And if you're thinking that's the full list of the USPS's problems, well then you'd

probably be surprised to learn that the USPS is in fact the carrier of choice for online

drug dealers.

It turns out some of the biggest sellers out there are based out of China and take advantage

of the UPU's inaction.

But if you want to learn why these sellers are audacious enough to send their illicit

shipments through the USPS, well head on over to Cheddar's channel to watch their awesome

video on exactly this problem.

China Just Did One Thing That Means War With The United States - Duration: 11:48.

China Just Did One Thing That Means War With The United States

One of Donald Trump's campaign promises was to stand up to China.

That is one promise he followed through to a tee.

But now China is sick of it, and just did one thing that means war with the United States.

Since being elected, there is perhaps no promise that he took as seriously as standing up to

China.

For many years he has been sounding the alarm about trade deals with China that have ripped

off the United States.

So in the most "America First" fashion possible, President Trump has stopped talking

and made a major threat to slap a ten percent tariff on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods.

To anyone who supports Donald Trump's economic nationalism, this is a great move that undoubtedly

would lead towards both fairer deals and further U.S. manufacturing.

For China, and the anti-Trump crowd it is disastrous.

For China, it will undoubtedly harm their economy, which is the point.

To the anti-Trumpers, they believe it will create immense harm to the U.S. economy because

of increased costs on Chinese goods.

China is so upset about President Trump's threats that they have threatened to retaliate

against Trump for launching what they believe, probably correctly, is a trade war.

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce said in a statement on their website that "[t]he United

States has initiated a trade war," before threatening to fight back against President

Trump.

Fighting back against President Trump in a trade war would end badly for China.

China benefits much more heavily from trading with the United States than the United States

does trading with China.

In classic "Art of The Deal" fashion President Donald Trump knows this.

After all, he wrote the go-to book on deals.

One of the central tenets of Trump's book is "using your leverage."

And in this case, President Donald Trump has $200 billion of leverage against China.

That leverage will eventually force China to come to the negotiating table.

This is something that no other President was willing to do.

The most sure-fire way to create more jobs in the United States is to encourage more

manufacturing.

In the past, there wasn't much incentive to manufacture U.S. goods, and China had an

unfair advantage in the market.

It is hard to promote free trade with a country that has an unfair advantage.

That's why President Trump is so supportive of "fair trade," which puts American interests

first.

This is a stark contrast to the strategy by former President Barack Obama, who was fine

with foreign countries having freer trade with the United States than domestic manufacturers,

who were tacked with heavy regulations.

During his eight-year reign, China had it made, while Americans were forced to struggle

for work.

But thankfully Donald Trump was elected President, who believes the exact opposite of Obama and

is making that clear with his policies.

And the fact that the unemployment rate is at near-historic lows shows that Trump's

plans are working.

Do you support President Trump's trade policy with China?
