what's up everyone its astronaut and I'm here I'm live I've actually started to

do my online streams a little more consistent lately cuz I've had more time

I know that's jazz but as the topic as the topic I just repeated myself twice

um as the title suggests this livestream is all about who needs to come back who

needs return in Mortal Kombat 11 and I want to talk about this because I think

I think nether room really needs to listen to the fans George welcome to the

stream new yes noob is like one of the number one returning I mean demanded

characters noob and Fujin are like I'm like almost atop the top in like the top

five what's up in Zillah are you changing my name to Archer oh what's up

chocolate welcome to the stream guys so the reason I'm doing the stream is

because I think if new the room pays attention what's the blood scarlet if

NetherRealm pays attention to the fans on this one which I think they really

should then we're gonna see a return of a lot of favorites in Mortal Kombat 11 a

lot of people have been wondering what has happened to some of their favorite

characters from the 2000 series the 3d era as you all know when they rebooted

the game in 2011 they pretty much started all over with basically all the

characters from Mortal Kombat 1 through Mortal Kombat 3 basically I hope all the

revenants come back to normal I hope so too chocolate they still need to resolve

that but anyway so when they rebooted the

game they pretty much gave the boots of all the to the 3d era characters what's

up Rendon right welcome to the stream and so they gave a boot to all of the 3d

era characters mostly and then in Mortal Kombat 10 they selectively kind of

brought back a few favorites but still they pretty much made more room for new

characters in Mortal Kombat 10 than they did for old favorites so we had like

eight brand new characters that came that showed up in Mortal Kombat 10 and

and then of course a lot of fan favorites got kicked out like um you

know everyone you know Fujin got kicked out noob saibot got

kicked out smoke got kicked out rain wasn't a playable character

let's see they almost kicked out the Android I mean the cyborgs but you know

at the last minute they offered the tribe or as a DLC so that was cool our

my shirt return okay what's up Diggins welcome to the stream Nightwolf - yeah

that's right a night wolf got kicked out he got left out of Mortal Kombat X of

course cabal got left striker got left out but I'm not complaining about that

um you know a lot of the revenant characters they got turned into revenue

characters and Mortal Kombat 9 got left out so I think if if Mortal Kombat 11

the if nether room decides to make Mortal Kombat 11 about what the fans

want then I think we're gonna see a return of a lot of the 3d era some of

the 3d era characters to come back like a lot of people want to see

LeMay come back a lot of people want to see Jarrett come back Kai a lot of

people want to see Kai come back a lot of people want to see Haven and Dagon

come back I wonder what happened to not look brother story Neverland go well

chocolate you know he got turned into a revenant in Mortal Kombat 9 and then and

then he didn't come back from Mortal Kombat 10 so he's still a Trevin it

somewhere so so yeah so if if another room does pay attention to the fans then

they're just they're definitely going to be bringing back a lot of classics for

Mortal Kombat 11 and I kind of agree with that I think we're definitely going

to see the Degas Jarek hahahahaha heck no thanks Jarek I mean thanks Degas for

your two cents on that um unless he doing something for the nether room

chocolate I just told you he's a he's a he's a revenant he is a revenant he's

still a revenant him sindell cabal Nightwolf

all of them are still revenant a smoke they're all revenants Gus you know Jade

she's a revenant anyway so yeah yeah lol

anyways so but yeah so Mortal Kombat 11 will be about a return of people's

favorites that's what people really want to see oh yes

the point that I was gonna make a second ago is that I know nether room is really

big on trying to return to establish the new characters wreden wants you

characters okay Rendon you know what Rendon every single every single game of

MORTAL KOMBAT we always get new characters so we always so we know we're

gonna see new characters bottom line so but from Mortal Kombat 10 I'm pretty

certain they're gonna bring back the new the next generation characters like

Cassie Jackie Takeda and um and kun Jen I want chrome as an actual

character I would like to see Chrome as an actual character too honestly so I

know they're gonna keep in the next generation characters because I think

the other room right now is all about trying to make characters that this

current generation of players can identify with and of course the

old-school Mortal Kombat characters can identify

with all of the traditional characters like katana and Liu Kang and all of them

but now we have a whole generation of players of video game players who have

not who weren't even born when the first few Mortal Kombat titles were released

alone I mean Degas I don't think it's weird that he became a rubbing it

because you know it was part of the storyline from Mortal Kombat 9 I mean

Sindel lost her mind and sorry killing everybody anyway sorry um so so yeah so

now we're dealing with the whole generation of game players who weren't

even born when Mortal Kombat 1 2 or 3 came out or trilogy and maybe barely

even Mortal Kombat 4 so I think it's safe to say that nether room is

definitely going to bring back that next generation of the next generation of

fighters with Cassie cage and all of them because people can identify this

next generation can identify with them because they're young they're cool they

use all the current slang oops and design looks similar to her deception

attire yeah she did look cool in deception they kind of made her look a

bit more regal like more like a queen a deception they even gave her like a like

a tiara tying one of her skins I remember that anyway so but his older

shouldn't enter the nether no because he is pure hearted well maybe well I don't

you know youth you know sometimes nether room doesn't always follow their rules

when they do things in the story mode some things are canon some things aren't

canons they kind of selectively choose to pick and choose what they want to do

when they release a game so another room doesn't always follow the rules that

set for certain characters when they do certain things they kind of just go with

the flow yeah I have all the MK games oh you know

I've played them all I don't have them all though but I played them all anyway

so so that being said we have a whole generation of gamers that are now

identifying with Cassie cage and Jackie Briggs and all that whole new crew and I

think we're definitely gonna see the next generation characters and they

might also create some other characters that might also be along the same lines

of the next generation because I think Vega is exposing in are I think right

now neither room is trying to stay relevant and so in order for them to

stay relevant they're gonna have to keep creating characters that can connect

with the current gamers but at the same time they can't alienate their fan base

and their fan base definitely wants to see the 2,000 characters come back they

definitely want to see you know their favorites come back and I think everyone

wants to see what happened to the revenant some of them who got left out

from Mortal Kombat 10 they still need to explain what happened to that and I

think since Mortal Kombat 11 is gonna be a sequel to Mortal Kombat 10 and 9 I

think we are gonna see all the revenues come back I think they are going to

resolve that because they're continuing the storyline and um so yeah so I think

Mortal Kombat 11 will probably I think if nether room is listening to the fans

it is going to be a good mix of a lot of old classic favorites coming back as

well as some new next-generation characters like Cassie Cassie cage and

all that stuff even though I personally don't like Cassie cage I don't care for

her Paulette I haven't seen you in a while Paulette how are you doing um and

also one thing I would like to say is you know I can't you know I think if you

notice I'm noticing a trend with another Rome Studios is that sometimes

NetherRealm Studios will do one thing to substitute for another thing so I've

noticed that in Mortal Kombat 10 the other room didn't want to bring Jai back

so instead of bringing Jade back they just gave katana her weapons also they

didn't want to bring Baraka back so what they did is they gave they gave Baracus

fighting style to alien what's up Garrett welcome to the stream mr. Lara

anyways so and so anyways so if you notice a J didn't come back they gave

katana Jade's weapons Baraka didn't come back they gave alien maracas fighting

variation and so I honestly think that by Cassie cage by having both her mother

and her father fighting ability I think they're going to use Cassie cage of

Mortal Kombat 11 as a way to actually leave out Sonya Blade and Johnny Cage

honestly I honestly do not think Sonya Blade and Johnny Cage are going to be

back at Mortal Kombat 11 because you can just choose Cassie and play us both with

both of them so I think I think the other room studios is going to use

Cassie cage as a way to make room for other characters and leave Sonya Blade

and Johnny Cage out because you can be it you can use both of their fighting

styles with Cassie cage that's my theory and that will also give another room

studios two extra slots to either bring back two other characters or to create

two new characters so that's my theory with Cassie cage and I've noticed that

with Mortal Kombat X typically when nether room wants to leave out a

character they will take their moves and give it to another character so that the

fans will still be happy so I think Cassie cage is gonna be the replacement

for Sonya Blade and Johnny Cage anyways let's see let's see what some people

have been saying Jarek was cool at MKA because he actually had his own mu set

and not a copy of Kano like he was in MK 4 ah welcome to love scarlet good to see

you anyway so um yeah guys so alright so that's my theory for um for Cassie cage

Kai can be to the next Liu Kang since Liu Kang is a revenant

yes we know and also last night guys I don't know who was in the stream i hopes

on your journey have gone it's pointless now cassie when you have a bull of them

exactly shy town I mean that's exactly why I'm thinking they're gonna get rid

of Sonya Blade and Cassie kami and Johnny Cage I want penny wise we riot

for no but I want penny was because he can shape-shift

if variations come back he can over there Louis initiations other good that

would be really cool Paula that would be cool I wonder if no the room has that

much creativity to think like that Cassie will be somewhat like tribe or

she can have a variation of Sonya and Joni and a very

that's true blood scarlet they could take Cassie cage and give her different

variations for our parents so true Cana can't be with the Knights Liu Kang and

guys if y'all were paying if y'all were here from my stream last night I said

that the the the preorder the character I want for the bonus pre-order character

for Mortal Kombat 11 I want to see omens illa wants heart carries to return the

Mortal Kombat 11 I don't care for hierarchies yeah I can um I want to see

a chocolate I know you were in the stream last night um Sonya no Johnny

yells Johnny is very popular also Johnny is hilarious but to be honest I'm not I

wouldn't be too heartbroken if he doesn't come back but I don't want to

see Hornbuckle I want to see Hornbuckle as the bonus pre-order character we have

seen him as a hidden character for like three decades he has been in the

background of the pit stage for three decades fighting blaze and now I think

they really need to bring him to the forefront and offer him as a bonus

character no he can't if Lou is the king of the nether

Oh char towns about to get crunk you guys we don't want to get shot on Chrome

because when Shia town gets crunk he could he loses his mind and goes crazy

okay so you know everyone especially if he has beer so guys I'm just warning you

guys shy town does get a little excited when he's had a few sips I'm so anyways

so I think Hornbuckle would be a great bonus character to offer and plus I got

on Google and I googled a lot of images for for Hornbuckle and some people have

really poor guys stop fighting a boring ball yeah to see the slim razor for the

movie house tube anyway so um I got on Google and I Google some images for

Hornbuckle and Hornbuckle has some really there's some really great

concepts out there floating around for Hornbuckle because of course we all know

that he started off being the green version of Liu Kang and you know and

that's the same for a lot of the ninjas and for the Warriors like katana only

you know Jade was a green variation of katana you know

you know all the all the ninjas were palette swaps of sort of sub-zero and

scorpion so you know we all know that's how they all got started so anyway so

Hornbuckle got started as like a palace weapon of Liu Kang the green version so

I think we need to have them as a playable character horrible yes

Hornbuckle for 2019 Mortal Kombat 11 I prefer noob as a pre-order but see

noob is probably going to be on the kid he can be a regular character named

cloud and have power to control cloud chocolate that would probably still be

too similar to smoke because smoke smoke has smoke coming off of him which is

like clouds so I see where you're going with that though I think they pretty

much run through all the possibilities with all the different color code ninjas

I can't think of another one unless they do like a brown ninja but see like to me

I kind of feel like the brown ninja was kind of tremor tremor was kinda like the

brown ninja if you notice even though he didn't have the traditional ninja outfit

on he had the you know he still had like the ninja style and he was brown like

tremor was kind of like the brown ninja I just wish new dog emerge from blaze

dyeing course that would make me care public okay so I tell you drunk

George lol so yeah so I want Hornbuckle bottom line anyways moving on so some

other characters that I think we're definitely gonna see like guys if y'all

have already seen my astronauts guide to Mortal Kombat 11 I've already gone

through who I honestly believe will definitely return we already know that

the the poster characters for the series people the characters who have always

been representatives for Mortal Kombat franchise are gonna return we know

ratings going to be there we know sub 0 we know scorpion we know we know Luke

king and katana aren't gonna be in the mix we know that Cassie cage I can

definitely assure you guys the cage is gonna be in there

I want spawn I you know I would like to see spawn as one - I want Fujin as a

playable character a lot of people want Fujin and you know I think that a lot of

I think they really should in if a character was a non playable character

in Mortal Kombat 10 I think they should make them playable in Mortal Kombat 11

and LeMay was a non playable character Fujin was a non-playable

character rain was a non-playable character Baraka was a non-playable

character Slenderman DLC oh that would be interesting yes Linderman would be

cool we were robbed of Fujian yeah you know Fujian uh yeah I feel I still think

the Fujian there's a good chance we'll see him a lot of people who want food

came back I want I would like to see Jake come back to chocolate I'm not

excited for more clever reveal cos scorpion will win again I know I know

yeah plus linear ain't getting his own moving yeah Paulette I mean we'll think

about it so I mean scorpion is that he is like

he's like he's like the mascot he is the he's the image of nother room studio so

how can how can suck a scorpion ever not win against anybody or sub-zero whoever

but um you know but one thing I was thinking ty I have a cache for LeMay

Fujian and I room returns playable okay that's a pretty interesting lineup

yeah those are definitely the 3d era probably the more popular 3d air

character sub-zero a scorpion are the poster boys exactly exactly they are and

you know what I think is interesting that scorpion is so popular but I mean

he's like the number one he's like the number one character Oh hands down he's

just the note you know yeah you know he's the face of nether room studios

everything but I would have thought you know for some reason they always have

scorpion running around doing the bidding like he was doing the bidding of

Quan Chi for a while you know you know it's I would think that they would give

scorpion or more in a more interesting storyline instead of just having him you

know just you know hooked up with Quan Chi you know always you know you know

serving someone else kind of it kind of seems like you know scorpion some you

know he was serving Quan Chi for a while and then you know he was he did have a

really good intro story when the when the series started with trying to kill

Sub Zero because sub-zero killed his family and all that

stuff but now in the reboot I would have honestly thought they would have given

us core scorpion a bigger role since he is the face of the new rom studios

because he he's so easy to use working the cheat code character Paula you're

you're you're absolutely right um you know is to the point when I play when I

play online if anybody plays use scorpion it's just

a joke it's just a joke because you already know what combo they're gonna

use they're gonna use the you know the teleport the teleport spear back and

forth back and forth back and forth back and forth over and over which takes no

skill whatsoever but you know I think neither room set it up like that they

want they they wanted certain characters to be easy to play so that anyone who

was new to the game could easily get into the game so I'd like to see Raiden

kill Johnny Sonya and Jackson the e3 trailer just to set the tone you know

what if he did that I think everybody would just be in shock you know that

kind of reminds me of when Lou Kane got killed in Deadly Alliance like I was

shocked I was shocked I mean like when Shang Tsung and and Quan Chi literally

like killed Liu Kang and Liu Kang went down I was like shocked because up until

that point Liu Kang was pretty much he was like the face of the game in a lot

of ways I was that was really shocking so I mean if they did a trailer where

rating just started killing some of the fan favorite characters that would that

would kick things off like I mean I think something will be mad some people

would be happy that would be really interesting

as long as ki KI returns up I could because they will die

it way yeah so yeah so anyway three with that I think if they did a really cool

trailer well where people some favors were getting killed

Paulette kiki is katana that's rose wait that's that's rose a fiction at nickname

for katana yes so yeah but yeah so I think a really good trailer would

definitely like I mean and I think you know nether room was gonna have to come

up with something to get people's attention because now I think the

expectation is really high they've already like gone through Mortal

Kombat X which was the best I honestly in my opinion I think Mortal

Kombat X was the best game the met the best Mortal Kombat game in the entire

series so far and so I think if the fans are used to Mortal Kombat X and then

they came out with injustice to with the gear customization and all that and so

now the fan is buchen are you trying to get on my bad side

Buchan this is not the way to kick off the strain be again so now fans are used

to Mortal Kombat X they're used to they're used to injustice to with the

gear customization so now with Mortal Kombat 11 another room is going to have

to come up with something really really different something that's going to take

everybody the fans everyone to the whole nother level because the bar is just way

too high at this point the fans have already seen so much with the past two

nether room games it's been crazy so Mortal Kombat 11 just has to i'm the

trailer has got to be something that is unexpected unpredicted unpredictable

there's gonna have to be something that's gonna just you know really you

know take the whole fighting genre category to a whole other level when the

trailer comes out we will see what we have to accept now of course there's

always there's always a possibility that you know yeah Mortal Kombat 11 may not

necessarily be a Molina clone war would be crazy interesting there's always a

possibility of more combat 11 may not live up to the hype it is very possible

that another room might lose there and come up with a storyline that is

completely wack I felt in K 11 will be the best pilot I think so too but I

guess there's always any news on when there's a trailer no chill will what's

up no chill well there has been no information as of yet but everyone is

pretty much expecting probably a trailer if they're gonna release a trailer it

will probably be on e3 at e3 on June 12 so no chill definitely keep your eye on

a three because that's gonna be especially now another room has already

released a legendary edition of moto of injustice too so they've ended the whole

injustice to era all that's done with so they've already released a legendary

edition with all of the added DLC characters that's completely done so III

would be a great opportunity to show a trailer after the flawless justice since

I have very high hope for more time eleven damn car honking oh so you could

hear the copy here the car honking thanks man appreciate that oh no problem

no chill will yes III so guys if you're looking for a trailer if anybody's

wondering about when the trailer might drop keep your eye out for e3 keep your

eyes on ed booms Twitter page and those are the best those are the best

opportunities to catch the trailer or to catch news for the trailer so and we

still have and we still actually have like a month and a half until III so you

know Ed Boon might just make people wait up until the very last minute before he

announces anything you know so I mean it's just like him to basically just

keep people waiting so we met we might not hear anything and so and we haven't

really had any really good leaks I mean you know I don't know if you I don't

know if you guys have been looking for the leaks but the leaks that have

happened have not been the best leagues in the world you know and none of them

have been accurate I don't think so you know it's been really tough this has

been a really dry spell where's my chocolate chocolate oh no oh oh

paul was looking for her chocolate chocolate blaze Hornbuckle pre-order on

consoles respectively chocolate will probably see blaze in emkin 11 well you

know what I was talking about yesterday I think blaze would be a very good

a pre-order bonus character sorry anyways um I think blaze would be a very

good pre-order character um especially to see blaze um outside of being a final

boss it would be cool if they bring it back to the old school and now Shane be

the final boss again uh oh yeah oh that's right Shane son was the final

boss for Mortal Kombat 1 oh god that would be really interesting um but I

think it would be really cool to see blaze as a pre-order character and not

as a boss character but see him as a playable character with three variations

that would be really cool cuz blaze with all the fire on him and stuff I think

that would be really cool Shao Kahn will be the pre-order DLC Garret how do you

know that do you are you friends with Ed Boon you know something we don't

anyways so but yeah so I think blaze would be a very good pre-order bonus

character um but uh honestly I still want Hornbuckle I know Ed Boon is not

gonna do it but that's okay that's alright um but yes so but yeah like I

was saying a second ago is very possible um you know and plus you know plus a

shell con I don't think Shao Kahn would be a pre-order bonus character because

Shao Kahn is Shao Kahn has always been like a final boss character he's always

been like a final boss character um I you know I don't ever I mean like

Shahrukh Khan is on the level of like corrupted shinnok you know he's one of

those characters that you know you just don't ever see that much flexibility

with Shao Kahn because Shao Kahn was set up from the beginning to be a final boss

so we didn't you know so I don't think we'll ever see like Shao Kahn in a

position where he's just a playable character with regular variations like

any other character he even when he was a playable character back in um you know

the 3d era with like deception and Armageddon he still was pretty boring he

just had his hammer and he did pretty much the same moves that he's done all

you know that shoulder move the spear move and the hammer move I mean he was

he's just set up to be like a boss character so I mean I just I don't

really get all that excited to think to place Shao Kahn as a playable character

you know but I do think it would be a very good idea if they

were to introduce somebody who might be the like the lost son of Shao Kahn or

the lost brother of Shao Kahn just so that that character would have more

freedom and more you know more creative freedom to do different things with that

you can't do with Shao Kahn let's say let's say I just need Liu Kang with a

nunchuck variation sort of like Michelangelo well you know um shot down

you remember he had that he had the nunchucks back in deception he had that

nunchuck if it's not Shao Kahn and I want motaro Katara bolo just keeping

them out it'll be cool we gotta indicate with all bosses well you know since uh

since another since another room is doing this reboot it's really hard to

kind of predict exactly what they're doing because the rebooted storyline is

you know is is going in a completely different direction from the original

storyline so it's very hard to predict what what we're gonna get what we're not

gonna get I doubt rating will be the main villain it's too easy to guess Kiki

and Luke a well not well not in are not honest they're they were simply put into

a new position that officially has them as a couple uh well ro I don't know

about that I don't know you know Raiden actually turned dark in the old

storyline right and did go dark and the old storyline so since we're eight knows

evil can't even make revenues like punchy buchen passenger twelve you can

you know you should ask ed boon that since you worked so closely with Ed Boon

you should ask him that and then come back and tell us Buchan you've been

slacking lately you haven't been updating any of us on any leaked

information what's up hunter good to see you I want

more nimble characters plus um chameleon it's two or four storylines

I'll ask bossman tomorrow please do that you can do that but he wasn't a main

villain role Oh more women who are we talking about again bro no more ravenous

after Mortal Kombat living well to be honest I think um Mortal Kombat 11

should probably be the end of this storyline

come back as a revenant since he died well he Baraka died kind of after the

whole revenant thing happened in Mortal Kombat 9 so what if they aged I don't

but anyways oh no no they already did the time trial

thing back in Mortal Kombat 9 so they shouldn't do that then but um to be

honest with you guys I really think they should probably end this new rebooted

storyline it with mortal kombat 11 Mortal Kombat 11 should be the end of

the revenant it should be the end of what was going on with shinnok and the

evil rating and all that stuff they really should bring it into it and

Mortal Kombat 12 should probably be like a whole different spin off but Mortal

Kombat 11 should probably be the end of this cuz I mean I just don't I don't

know I mean I don't know what else they I mean they could definitely keep coming

up with new storylines for to continue with after Mortal Kombat 11 but how

would they make it really really unique and not a copycat um that's a good

question Paula I don't know but you know with the graphics and 4k graphics and

chameleon having the color changing he would probably be the most impressive

looking character if they did chameleon because he wouldn't with his with his

you know color-changing and you know all that stuff that would be really cool to

see him how he would look design and the different variations he might have let's

say should be the end of the 2d of 2d no written didn't know you know they went

back to 2d because they you know the market the fighting the fighting genre

market was not going in the direction of 3d fighters if you notice all the

hard-hitting fighting games now are 2d they're not 3d anymore so like we have

Mortal Kombat we have injustice we have you know Street Fighter

we had Marvel vs. Capcom we had you know what was it

Dragon Ball Fighter Z all of those games have all been in at a 2d format yeah

second is 3d but if you think about it like the character the games are in 3d

at this point they're limited they're very limited and and Plus Edie Boone has

even said in his interviews that Mortal Kombat 9 and 10 have been the best

Mortal Kombat games ever they have performed the best so I think that

they're definitely not going to go back to the 3d era games because they're

doing even better back in the 2d era we already have aaron black origin um you

know an after mortal kombat 11 honestly i think it would be cool if nether room

were to focus on excuse me sorry if neither one were to focus on like

Shaolin monks to Charlotte monks to or

or maybe like a Mortal Kombat prequel honestly I would like to see a Mortal

Kombat prequel like after after Mortal Kombat 11 I think I would I think it

would be great if nether room focus on a prequel and I think with the prequel

they could come up with whole new storylines that could be really great

for the prequel what if they made a Mortal Kombat versus tree part that

would never happen because Street Fighter characters cannot be killed

chocolate in the comics explains his origin so I think you know I think what

they should do is focus on a prequel and you know and with the prequel they could

introduce brand new characters in the prequel and you know that could you know

that would be a really great way to kick things off after Mortal Kombat 11 new

character another Devorah figure oh gosh yeah I agree with that I definitely

don't want to see another Devore and ferret or honestly I think fair tour was

the worst character lat in the last game terrible terrible ferret or terrible it

was a cool idea having like a two characters with a symbiote relationship

but yes you can I think a prequel Mortal Kombat 12 would be great it would be

great I need them to explain why the other characters hated eating so much of

Mortal Kombat X well in Mortal Kombat X they kind of

introduced a lot of politics they showed more of the politics of Outworld a

little more than the other games you know they went into a little more detail

and for some reason it seems like a Kotal Kahn was all about trying to

establish Outworld as like the the top realm which is why I think Tonya

released Melina because Melina claim to want to help the Athenians which I don't

think she'll do that but that's what they did anyway so yeah so yeah so I

think Mortal Kombat 12 should be a prequel that would be great what if

singsong is the big bad guy well you know chocolate if shank soon was the big

bad guy I honestly say I could honestly that would be a very good move because

ever since the reboot in 28 2011 nether room has been trying to rebuild the

The weavile, devious evil mastermind or adorable sidekick to children everywhere.

This is the evolution of sneasel, an already onry trickster known for using complex plans

to steal eggs.

Sneasels are already wicked smart, and upon evolving they get even smarter! and one bit

of information seems to allude to their terrifying intelligence.

The ability to write.

That's "Right" you heard it right here! they are able to carve symbols or other indicators

as a way of communication, like that of early humans.

So whats going on here?

And what does this all mean?

Lets find out today on Gnoggin.

We may be seeing a new evolution of intelligent pokemon.

There are many pokemon that are able to speak and talk to humans Its not all that special

of a trait.

From telepathy to just plain speaking, it isn't all that rare to find a pokemon able

to communicate with humans.

Especially in the anime there are ton of odd pokemon that are able to talk.

Even a snover is able to talk at once point.

But Pokemon that can write and not only mimic human characters but have their own entire

written language?

That's a whole new level of depth.

We can see in a short amount of time: this pokemon has been evolving at an alarming rate.

Where once it would fight over food, they now no longer quarrel amongst themselves.

The most interesting thing would be its ability to scratch markings into ice, tree, boulders,

to communicate with other weevils.

No other animal in our world can communicate with a set of written symbols.

Now i know a few of your are immediately scrolling down to the comments sections to state that

ACHUTALLY Bears mark trees and many other animals communicate by leaving pheromones

and other marks.

Well ha those things aren't really written language!

See how i worded that.

Its true many animals communicate as you've so dutifully pointed out.

But that communication is not a known thing its innate, they aren't individual symbols

or characters.

Bears dont go to trees and read the marks, they know from the scent in on the tree that

another bear is in the area and this is their turf.

They are not reading internet posts or the weekly news on the tree.

Weavile though, are able to use written symbols as a way of communicating hunting plans, or

as warnings for the other weavile, perhaps that this is a beartic cave, dont bother the

beartic.

And this language is unique to them, Other pokemon are unable to infer the meaning.

So in order to know how to read and write, they must be VERY intelligent, which isnt

uncommon for Pokemon.

There are other pokemon that have immense intelligence but non that have their own written

communication system.

Though im sure alakazam with its 900!!!! IQ could be taught how to read and write.

Also, apparently all pokemon may have the same or similar spoken languages as meowth

is able to translate every type of pokemon and many just talk to each other.

Just a fun fact

But Is it even possible for an animal to have language?, do any animals have a language?

It's quite a difficult question, so we should first define a difference between communication

and language.

Communication, by definition, is the transmission of a signal between the sender and receiver.

This signal could be language, but it could also be smells, movements, or postures.

Defining language now... is much harder, in fact it's still in debate to this day.

The general consensus is: That language is "a structured form of communication",

that means its contains grammer and can be combined in an infinite ways to form different

meanings.

An example would be a weavile having a symbol for predator or safe, but unless they are

able to put them in a way that says "No predator, It is safe here."

It's not a written language.

Now, animals do have some level of language, in fact some believe that animals may have

a more developed and more complex language system than humans.

Take a gander at prairie dogs, who can convey sentences in single chirps that range all

across the audible range.

It's been observed that quite a few animals have their own vocal languages.

Chimps, grey parrots, mustached bats and sea lions all seem to have some form of basic

language.

Though it is still somewhat debated as to weather or not these actually count as language.

Even when it comes to say, the dance of the honey bee, as compared to our own sign language,

many debate weather the bees dance counts as a language.

It's a very interesting debate for sure.

But one thing's for sure: None of these animals have been observed writing down their words

into some sort of text.

Unfortunately mustached bats don't seem to keep diaries.

But back to weaviles, The scary thing is that they can use these communication symbols for

hunting.

Something that changes as time goes on as their hunting missions are underway.

so their "symbols" would need to be easy and quick to write and to understand.

Which means that meanings of simple scratches would need to be altered based on the other

scratches and things around them, and how they are placed.

Meaning at least some simple level of grammar and syntax is within their language…

Which means these weaviles have a language that is possibly more advanced that that of

early humans.

Let's take a look at human history for a second to see where they may be on the long road

of evolution and advancement.

Wayyyyy back im talking before your parents… like… woah.

Thats forever ago.

Back in the day, humans used to use rocks and other tokens as a form of communication.

This is the predecessor of language.

These tokens would be used in a system to record information.

Such as how much grain or meat someone has purchased.

Geez, think about marketing and accounting before numbers were invented….

The next big stepping stone would be markings or pictrography as a writing.

This is where most people believe writing really started.

As its the act of recording something by creating an image, be it a drawing or a system of symbols.

From cave paintings to hieroglyphs.

After the marks and such, humans started to reduce the symbols into what are called logographs,

where humans put phonetix from their vocal language into their written language, imagine

a really rough, million character alphabet where elephat was a letter but it really just

ment big.

After a while, humans then started to create an alphabet, you know, something easier to

teach, they thought: hey why not make big mean big and elephant mean elephant.

And people loved the idea of things making sense.

some time goes on, some things change, some stuff happens, and we get to where we are

today.

And where are animals on this historic list of written language?.

Well they aren't.

They are all still pre writing, they are still just unga bungaing around, Trying to get the

newest rockstation 4 because the X-bone 1 has no rocks.

Weaviles seem to be somewhere around the second level of language evolution.

Its unknown if they even started with just tokens or they just jumped to stage 2.

This could be lost information as the pokemon world seems to be stuck in the 90s and information

seems to be making strides everywhere except the history department.

You know unless its about some stupid god pokemon.

But While weavile may not have a full fledged language its well on its way.

Who knows, if they ever release a pokemon set in the far future we may well see a few

books written in weavilise.

And Who knows! with its egyptian style headdress and eyeliner they may be the egyptians of

the pokemon world.

Making symbols and such with their scratches, drawing everything from a dude with a croc

head to a...whatever the heck this thing is.

Perhaps thats why weaviles have that vague egyptian look to them, as well as being ice

type.

As a means of symbolizing the first two methods of human written language, from cave drawings

common in the ice age, to the symbols and pictograms of the ancient egyptians.

And that's pretty dang awesome.

So let's start with dark matter, OK?

what is this elusive thing and why do you think it exist?

So, we are particle physicist and the basic type of questions that we are asking is what are we made of?

what are the universe comprise of, what are the basic fundamental building blocks

from which everything emerges

And we have a beautiful mathematical theory, that describes almost perfectly, almost everything absorbed in nature

and that called "The Standard Model" of particle physics

but we know that this beautiful theory, which is very elegant and that withstood almost 40 years of experimental scrutiny

can't be the final answer of nature, because it lives certain questions that are unanswered

and maybe one of the biggest of those questions is this issue of dark matter

What is Dark Matter?

Right, so, what is dark matter?

basically what we do is look up at the night sky and we notice that there a lot out there that we can't see

that there is more then we can see

and actually, almost all our entire universe is dark

it's made out of matter that we can't see

about 3/4 is something that we call dark energy, roughly a 1/4 of the total energy of the universe is dark matter

How do we notice? well we look up at the stars at the sky, the dust, and we count

we observe how much dust and stars there is

and from the stars and the dust we calculate the gravitational force is out there or exerted

and we see in some reason there is more gravity acting on the stars and the dust that we count for

So we know that it has to be something out there, exerting gravity that we can't see

and this stuff is called dark matter

and actually there is 5 times more of that dark matter than the stuff that we can see

and this is one of the biggest mysteries of the universe right now, what is this dark matter? what is the stuff that we can't see?

So just to sort of give you a picture of this, what it means is that if the mass of the dark matter is something like the mass of the proton

then there is roughly one dark matter of particle in a cup of coffee

It's here all around us but we can't see it

we know that it's there but it doesn't interact with light, so we can't see it, and we want to know what it is

so we have been trying to find, to detect this dark matter particles

but because they interact very very weakly it's really a tough job

and we've been trying to do this in 3 different ways i'll say

so one way is what we call colliders, we take particles that we know and love such as electrons and protons and we smash them on each other

and we hope to produce dark matter particles

that somehow we will be able to detect them on our detectors

so this is for instance what we do at the large hydron collider

in Cern

We search for them also on targets, seating deep underground in a lab

where we are taking some big pools, some tanks of something, not full of water but heavy nuclei

and we hope that dark matter will come and scatter off of that

and leave some imprints on our detector

and we also search via telescopes where we look up at the sky and we hope to see regular particles like photons or electrons or positrons

that could be the result of dark matter that decade or annihilated

So we've been searching in different ways but it's very tricky and we haven't yet been able to find these particles

So what is your proposal in dark matter research? how do you think we can find and detect this dark matter?

The story is basically the following -

for the last 40 years there is been one dark matter notion, one candidate of dark matter that is really been captivating the attention of theorists and experimentalists alike

and this particle is some dark matter particle that interacts very weakly with ordinary matter

and the mass of this dark matter particle is roughly a 100 times the mass of the proton

and this is a beautiful dark matter candidate, it naturally occurs in many theories of particle physics

and it's been very captivating both theorist and experimentalist

and because it's been the dominant idea for decades, it's so influenced and guided the way that we desgined experimental searches

So I'll say these 3 types of searches for dark matter we designed them specifically to look for the WIMP

So a lot of the type of research that we do, I think in general, the partical physics community is recognizing that thinking on one type of idea for so many years was great

and if you are going to choose one idea to think of for 40 years this was a great one to do

but maybe we needed to broaden the search and think a little bit about the bigger picture

because dark matter could be, there are roughly 80 orders of magnitude in terms of what it's mass could be

Dark matter could be many many many.... orders of magnitude higher or many orders of magnitude lower in mass then what is considered for the WIMP

our research has been focused on thinking about these new ideas for dark matter

that is not the WIMP

in particular there is a lot of activity on thinking of dark matter as substantially lighter then the WIMP

So for instance, you already can see why it's important to think about these things

because if dark matter is a thousand times lighter then the WIMP, so instead a 100 times the mass of the proton

if it's 1/10 of the mass of the proton, then these types of targets that we've designed, there are not sensitive to this

so dark matter could be there but we haven't seen it because our experiment that we've designed is not sensitive for this

so one such model that we proposed for dark matter is the SIMP

The particles interact strongly with itself

and if you calculate the mass of this dark matter, you find out that is indeed around 1000 times less then the mass of the WIMP

So this is a dark matter candidate, reasonable as much as the WIMP

that is not been search for, right?

This experiments can show us that the dark matter is something else like the SIMP and we just haven't designed an experiment to look for them

we also been, together with, as a particle physics phenomenologist we are interested... so we are theorist

but we work at close contact with experiment, so on the one hand we, on the context of dark matter we think on new theories for the particle identity

for instance this SIMP idea is one such example

it predicts that you have a dark matter particle the 1000 times lighter then what's been searched for so far

but on the same time we also want to think of new experimental techniques to search for this

and so for instance we also proposed, so if you think of this billiard ball picture

so if I'm looking for a WIMP - dark matter, it make sense that the dark matter would come and scatter this big heavy atom

no problem to give it a kick and we can detect that

but it the dark matter is a 1000 times lighter, such as the case of the SIMP and other new dark matter ideas that have been emerging in recent times

then the kinematics is more like this tiny little pinball is trying to get a kick to this big bowling ball, it's just not going to work

So you are actually in that case, when you have lighter dark matter, you want to scatter of something that is lighter, beacuse you can punch it around much more efficiently

and with this realization that maybe if you want to detect dark matter you should scatter of electrons

there are many new systems that have been proposed by theorists together with experimentalists

so you can think on looking to this things in superconductors, semiconductors, scintillators, electrons that ejects from graphene

these are all types of ideas that we've been working on in the community, new experimental proposals for how you can search for lighter dark matter

and the experimental community also picking up on these, and now it's been brought to research and develop stages

so that this experiments could actually be built to detect light dark matter if it's there

so it is a very exciting time, beacuse for the first time we are looking for a new type of dark matter

in the coming years we will be finally sensitive for looking on other dark type of dark matter, not just the WIMP

and it's very exciting, probably in the next 10 years or so we can make a discovery of dark matter

So we can't avoid the fact that you guys are married. How is it like to work together in the same field or at the same place?

are you working together all the time? Do you have different projects?

Well obviously it's great to work together, since we are doing it

Ammm..

So we work a lot together, also sometimes we don't work together, well we do things together but sometimes work separately

Do you manage your time together?

Well in general, the particle physics phenomenology is extremly collaborative field, so in any given point in time we have multiple projects

with multiple collaborators, all across the world and some of those projects we are collaborators and there are projects that we collaborate with other people

-And so ya.. -We found a good collaborator

And I think it's great because I can ask a silly question without being embarrassed

maybe you can tell us a little bit how you guys met, why did you decide to work here?

We first met, I think, just one building down from here, probably less a 100 meters from where we are sitting

maybe around 8 years ago? something like that

when we were both students

in graduate school

I was here for the school at the institute for advance studies

for a winter school and we met there

I guess we didn't speak for few years, but I came back to Israel to do a post doc

At Tel Aviv University I did a post doc in Israel because physics here is great, High Energy is very strong here.

So we always knew that we want to come back to Israel after we both did post doc in the US

As Eric said, science in Israel is really amazing, phsyics in Israel is amazing, high energy phsyics in Israel is amazing

and we love the University, there are amazing students, we just love everything about it, beautiful campus

So we are very happy to come - we are excited to come here together

We can build a group in high energy phenomenology, we have our philosophy of who should be in our group- he/she have to be fun and active

just fun, that what I mean, good physics and good spirits

In your opinion, how will physics be in 20 years from now?

what is your vision? and how do you fit in this vision?

I'll say I hope it's not something like what I expect. this is really the fun doing fundemental physics

we are asking new questions that we haven't think of, describe thinks that can't be imagan

So hopefully some of the open questions that we have today will be answered, and as Eric said

It's the most exciting if the answer is someway that we haven't even thought of

so nature can be more spectacular

So you hope dark matter exists or not?

Oh , of course, but we have no idea what it is

I think the driving force behind, you know, basic science in general, definitely to fundemental physics is just pure curiosity

and we just want to know what is it? what is out there?

what is everything made of?

what ever the answer is, we certently can't predict

We hope to be around when we find out some answers to some of these questions

and we hope it sparks new questions for the time after that

It will be exciting if it will be one of our theories, but it will be thrilling nonetheless if we know the nature of dark matter
