Ivanka Trump Forced To Close Fashion Brand 18 Months After Her Father Took Office - Breaking News 24 - Duration: 3:09.

Ivanka Trump is shutting down her namesake fashion brand, it was announced on July 24, after potential conflicts of interest became too complicated for the White House Advisor

Ivanka Trump, 36, daughter of President Donald Trump, 72, launched her fashion brand in 2011, but since her dad became the commander in chief, things started getting a bit hairy

She announced she would be shutting down the company on July 24. "After 17 months in Washington, I do not know when or if I will ever return to the business, but I do know that my focus for the foreseeable future will be the work I am doing here in Washington

So making this decision now is the only fair outcome for my team and partners," Ivanka said, according to the The Wall Street Journal

Ivanka separated herself from being the head of the company in the spring of 2017, but was still an owner through a trust

Ivanka wore her own brand during her father's presidential campaign and once she was in the White House as an advisor, theoretically making money with each Instagram post she shared

Sales did rise in 2016, but after her father assumed office, some brands like Nordstrom stopped selling her line, while Neiman Marcus Group and T

J. Maxx "scaled back," reported the WSJ. In fact, just last week, on July 13, Hudson's Bay Company pulled the line from its websites

The group owns stores like Lord & Taylor and Saks Fifth Avenue and cited declining sales

Perhaps that was the final straw? Ivanka Trump's store within Trump Tower in NYC  Of course, with manufacturing and oversees trading, you can assume how this might not work for a government employee

Abigail Klem, who took over as president when Ivanka stepped aside in 2017, told WSJ that she was "incredibly proud" of the brand they had built

"I know that this was a very difficult decision for Ivanka and I am very grateful for the opportunity to have led such a talented and committed team

6 Tips for Getting Out the Door Fast | Fashion for Women Over 40 - Duration: 3:59.

Hi, we're back with some more helpful tips for you busy ladies out there. But

before we get started please give this video a thumbs up and don't forget to

subscribe and please leave us a comment down below. It really helps youtube to

understand that women over 40 really do have a demand for seeing more fashion on

youtube. Today we've got six helpful tips for you all related to getting ready and

fashion. You know our channel is all about women over 40 and great ideas and

tips for casual everyday looks but we also know that you don't have a lot of time to

put into fashion somedays. So we're going to show you how to do it quickly and

fashionably. Tip number one start with your closet. In order to put together

great stylish outfits quickly you need to have an organized closet that makes

sense from a stylist perspective. In other words forget what you've heard

about organizing by color instead organize by style. For example all

camisole is grouped together then t-shirts, short-sleeved blouses,

long-sleeve button-down, shorts grouped together,

jeans. The same thing goes for shoes. Organize by style such as flats, sandals,

heels. Jewelry can be organized by metals such as all silver items together, all

gold items together. This system makes it very easy to grab the pieces that you

need quickly and easily to create a look. Tip number two, pick out your outfit

the night before including shoes and accessories. This may sound a bit silly

but let's be honest who's motivated to style a fashionable look at 6 a.m. If

you take the time to put together a look in the evening before going to bed,

you'll have more time to think about your look and put a little effort into

creating something stylish. You can also ensure that the pieces you need are

clean. So that you aren't rummaging through the laundry basket looking for

what you need while you're trying to get out the door. Tip number three, steam or

iron what you plan to wear the night before. Or

give them a light mist of water and pop them in the dryer for a few minutes

while you jump in the shower. Tip number four blow-dry your hair the night before

and just freshen up the pieces surrounding your face in the morning.

Styling your hair the night before will save you lots of time on your morning

routine. Pop on a shower cap to protect your freshly styled do before hopping

in for your morning shower. Then when you get out, simply refresh the pieces of

hair surrounding your face by blowing them out with a large round brush and

misting them with some hairspray. Tip number five, use makeup products that

combine steps. For example a BB or CC cream that contains sunscreen saves you

one step in your getting ready beauty routine. A powder foundation is a very

quick way to cover any skin imperfections and it's very easy to

apply quickly. Have a go to simple makeup routine for those mornings when you need

to be out the door fast so that you aren't spending extra time thinking

about which eyeshadow to choose. Number six, this last tip is for those of you

who would love to use different purses to match different looks but feel like

it just takes too much time and effort to switch out all of your belongings.

Keep your essentials in a small zippered pouch that can be easily transferred

from one bag to another. I keep things like a pressed powder or lipgloss hand

sanitizer gum and any other daily essentials in a

zipper pouch and place it on my dresser beside my wallet at the end of the day.

Then I can just grab the purse I want to match the days outfit off the shelf,

throw the wallet and pouch inside, and I know I have everything I need. It allows

me to enjoy all of my handbags with very little effort.

So we hope you enjoyed our

6 tips for getting out the door fast and fashionable.

Don't forget to check out our other fashion tips, tricks, and lookbooks and

we'll see you next week. Bye guys. Have a great week

Is Accessible Fashion the Real Future of Fashion? Podcast Fashion Technology - Duration: 9:06.

Hi I'm Collette Costello for www.fashiontechnology.co.uk. Quite often the

world of fashion is quite ruthless very money orientated and not very inclusive,

if you don't fit into their stereotype of the average consumer you can find it

to be very inaccessible. There is a lot of thought that the future of fashion

and what fashion technology, wearable technology can bring is more

personalized products and a more personalized service. Fashion does

make attempts to try and be more inclusive, more accessible, by doing

things such as, Asos recently designed a jumper which will fit people

in a wheelchair and is wather proof that we can wear to festivals, the other

thing that they might do is to make shops more accessible so again usually

people with a wheelchair can get round to shop with wide aisles and ramps at

the doors, this seems to be about as far as their thinking goes and as much

effort as the fashion world seems to make, to make things accessible, they

don't really seem to be thinking beyond this. The reason is the moment they

design a product that is personalized, tailor-made to a user's needs, costs

go up dramatically and their customer base is reduced, in fashion it's all

about mass production which keeps costs low,

stack them high and sell them cheap.

Traditionally fashion has always worked on the idea of creating these

aspirational lifestyles and these aspirational looks that the models in

their advertising campaigns have often which are completely unachievable

and I think the fear is that if they feature anybody in a campaign that maybe

has a slight impairment, they have this massive fear that maybe they'll lose

customers, so when in fashion people with impairments are seen it's may be on the

catwalk or in an advertising campaign to make quite a big statement and it's also

usually quite gimmicky. So can the world of fashion become more accessible does

it have the potential to, well as I said before fashion is all about making money

so if the companies think they can make money they will make changes, I think

the first changes will come about online first of all the online shopping

experience will become more accessible, it'll be kick-started by one of their

competitors say having a more accessible website so therefore getting

more customers and more sales. When this starts I think it willl start the ball

rolling, that people with visual, hearing, cognitive and motor impairments will

have their needs meet so they can comfortably shop on line, so for the

first time fashion will maybe have to recognize that not all their customers

are average. Offering a more personalized shopping experience online could

potentially open up other opportunities such as a customer when logged in could

view models that actually represent them, that actually represent their impairment.

One idea for the future is that we'll be able to scan our own bodies and a 3d

digital model of our body should be able to appear on a screen, in fashion clothing

can be applied, so rather than the fashion companies going to the expense

of employing many different models with different impairments to personalized

the shopping experience, instead you could be able to see yourself and the

clothes could just be digitally placed on your body and you could take part in

catwalk shows to show off how the clothes will look before you buy them.

Other ideas are that with technologies such as artificial intelligence, that

shopping for clothes may not even be a visual thing that you may not even need

to see how clothes look before you buy them, so the idea would be that you have

a virtual stylist who hand picks a wardrobe for you based on things like

your complexion, your hair, eye color, clothes that you usually wear,

activities that you take part in and comes up with a style look for you based

upon this, however what this does take out of it is the fun that people do

simply enjoy shopping and some people do just love scouring through hordes of

clothes to pick out what they want to wear for a Friday night. So the

technology is there to make the shopping experience more accessible now and in

the future, fashion websites could easily become

more accessible, using technology that's out now and ensuring that they can be

read by screen readers and are designed to be usable easy for everybody to use,

with big buttons, east ways to checkout without complicated forms and without

complicated payment methods. I've given examples about how in the future

argumented reality, artificial intelligence will make it

possible to have a more personalized shopping experience, the biggest problem

that is going to face fashion becoming more accessible is the manufacturing process,

the making of the actual clothes that are on sale, with very often clothes

being made in developing countries in quite archaic dangerous conditions for

their workers and very often the workers are still exploited to keep costs down.

So the minute you start talking about personalization it takes away that

ability to mass-produce clothes in such conditions by people that are maybe not

skilled in these areas, the minute you have skilled workers you have to start

paying people a livable wage and very often it's still the consumer spending

power which makes the difference. People just want cheap clothes, people want to

be able to easily buy a new outfit for a night out without having to spend a lot

of money, if there was that need and want for personalized clothing maybe if

people were willing to pay more, maybe it would already be out there and available.

thats they way it doesn't seem to be, the only hope for the future really is with technology

such as 3d print that make it easier to print personalized garments, however to

do this is still slow and it's still costly so it's not a technology which

has been adapted in the mass production high street fashion market. I think we

still have a long ways to go before a truly accessible fashion world, fashion

culture is created. To learn more about accessibility and fashion technology see

✅ Ivanka Trump is closing her controversial namesake fashion brand - Duration: 4:00.

First daughter Ivanka Trump has shuttered her namesake clothing brand "ASAP" and layoffs have begun more than one year after she distanced herself from the brand

"When we first started this brand no one could have predicted the success that we would achieve" Trump said in a statement according to The Hollywood Reporter

"After 17 months in Washington I do not know when or if I will ever return to the business but I do know that my focus for the foreseeable future will be the work I am doing here in Washington so making this decision now is the only fair outcome for my team and partners

"Company president Abigail Klem added "We are incredibly proud of the brand we have built and the content and product we've developed for our customers

Our platform has become an indispensable resource for our loyal community of women. We've seen strong sales since the brand's inception which continued through this year with the successful launch of our rapidly growing e-commerce business

""It's just never recovered since she stepped away from the company" a source told Page Six of the company Trump launched in 2007

Market Watch also reported that Klem broke the news to her 18 employees Tuesday while Trump herself is expected to speak to the staff

Since Trump accepted her role as assistant to the president her fashion brand has been under attack. Per theWall Street Journal she often showcases her own designs (for example between March and October 2017 she wore her brand in 46 of 68 photos posted to social media) and was often accused of being a "walking billboard

"As Guian McKee Ph.D. a professor of presidential studies at the University of Virginiatold theJournal"Ivanka Trump is testing the boundaries on federal rules that bar government employees from using their position to promote brands that personally enrich them

"The clothing brand wascategorized as unpatriotic for not making the majority of its clothes in Americaand for using a Chinese factory that severely underpaid its workers only offering them about $60 a week

As NBC News reports the unnamed factory produces multiple fashion brands not limited to that of Trump.Social media was also upset that the brand did not offer maternity leave to its employees as alleged by former worker Marissa Velex Kraxberger in a 2016 Facebook post

Klem has since clarified that the brand has offered maternity leave since 2017 saying the "business was new" duringVelex Kraxberger's tenure

In 2017 counselor to the president Kellyanne Conway was admonished for promoting Trump's brand on television — and possibly violating rules set by the— telling Fox & Friends "It's a wonderful line

I own some of it. I fully — I'm going to give a free commercial here. Go buy it today everybody. You can find it online." According to Politico Conway had "been counseled on that subject and that's it

"Trump's brand also landed on the #GrabYourWallet list a movement aimed at discouraging business for companies affiliated with the first family

Due in part to the list Trump's clothing has been pulled from various department stores such asNeiman Marcus Jet.comNordstromDSW and most recently Canadian storeHudson's Bay

Fashion up in flames: why Burberry burned unsold stock worth R506m - Duration: 6:37.

Fashion up in flames: why Burberry burned unsold stock worth R506m

Fashion up in flames: why Burberry burned unsold stock worth R506m.

Luxury British fashion house Burberry destroyed hundreds of millions of rands worth of its fashion and cosmetic products over the past year to protect its brand.

The company burned unsold clothes, accessories and perfume worth around R506-million (£28.6 million), according to its annual report, in a practice now common across the industry to guard against counterfeiting.

Retailers describe it as a measure to protect intellectual property and prevent products being stolen or sold at discounted prices.

"Burberry has careful processes in place to minimise the amount of excess stock we produce," the company said in a statement.

"On the occasions when disposal of products is necessary, we do so in a responsible manner and we continue to seek ways to reduce and revalue our waste."   Among the products destroyed were around R184-million (£10.4-million) worth of beauty items, which Burberry said was a one-off related to a licence it agreed with beauty company Coty last year.

The firm - which announced a slight rise in annual profits in May to about R5.2-billion (£294-million) - has said it takes its environmental obligations seriously and harnesses the energy from burning the items.

It also pointed to partnerships with organisations such as the Ellen MacArthur Foundation that work to reduce waste in the industry.

But news of its destruction policy drew flak in Britain.

Lawmaker Tim Farron, environment spokesman for the opposition Liberal Democrat party, said: "It is outrageous that Burberry think setting fire to their unsold stock is an acceptable solution." Noting recycling was "far better for the environment", he added: "As a leading British fashion brand they should be leading the way in sustainable fashion." BURBERRY NOT ALONE Since last week, when that piece of information buried in Burberry's 200-page report came to light, the brand has come under scrutiny on social and news media for the practice.

But industry experts say Burberry is far from alone.

"It is a widespread practice in the fashion industry, it's commonplace," said Arnaud Cadart, a portfolio manager at Flornoy and Associates who has previously followed the luxury industry as an analyst.

He said very few luxury brands hold sales to get rid of stock and instead destroy unsold products.

Fashion items with short lifecycles increases the amount of leftover stock and items destroyed.

"Once you do some private sales to employees and journalists, it's dumping," he said.

French luxury giant LVMH said in its latest annual report that "provisions for impairment of inventories are.

generally required because of product obsolescence (end of season or collection, expiration date approaching, etc.) or lack of sales prospects."   Hermes' annual report also spoke of product "obsolescence (notably finished seasons or collections)".

Clear indications of the amount of products destroyed were not provided.

'NOT SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE' "It's clear this isn't going well" in terms of public opinion "because this isn't a 'green' practice and perhaps not socially responsible as there are people who don't have clothes to put on their backs," said Cadart.

"Yes, there is a moral, ethical question as well as protecting the environment," said Boriana Guimberteau, a specialist on intellectual property law at the FTPA law firm.

"But from a legal point of view, the brands are destroying genuine products which they own, products that are at the end of their life or the season, and they can do what what they want" with them, she said.

A tenet of maintaining brand image is that exclusive products should be sold in exclusive distribution networks and that markets shouldn't be flooded with end of season products Guimberteau said a tenet of maintaining brand image is that exclusive products should be sold in exclusive distribution networks and that markets shouldn't be flooded with end of season products.

The manufacturers association Unifab, which defends intellectual property rights and combats counterfeiting, said there are different reasons firms destroy their unsold goods.

These can include a desire to ensure they don't enter other sales channels, while products such as perfumes and cosmetics have sell-by dates after which firms destroy them to ensure consumer safety.

Firms also destroy unsold goods "to protect its intellectual property, which is an asset," said Delphine Sarfati-Sobreira, Unifab's general director.

She deplored the witch hunt against Burberry, saying that a "firm which destroys its products will certainly produce others, thus giving work to some of its staff".

✅ Ivanka Trump is folding her fashion line, 'ASAP' - Duration: 1:43.

Joe Simonson, DCNF  Ivanka Trump will shutter her clothing and shoes company, according to a report by Page Six Tuesday afternoon

The company will be folded "ASAP," with all staff members losing their jobs.  "It's just never recovered since she stepped away from the company," an insider told Page Six

Shortly after her father President Donald Trump assumed office in January 2017, Trump stepped down from leading the company in an effort to eliminate any potential conflicts of interest as she took on a role in the White House

Since her exit from the company, the line has struggled with sales. A number of stores like Nordstrom, Burlington Coat Factory and TJ Maxx stopped selling the line due to a lack of demand from the public

After Nordstrom decided to drop the line from its inventory in February 2017, Trump tweeted out support for her daughter

Ivanka Trump closes her fashion company - Duration: 5:09.

Ivanka Trump is shutting down her fashion business, which has struggled after she moved to Washington to work full time for her father

Abigail Klem, who took over as president of the brand last spring, informed its 18 employees on Tuesday that the company would be shutting down

Ms Trump is set to address the staff later in the day, according to The Wall Street Journal

She told the paper that she was uncertain whether she would return to the retail industry once she leaves Washington

"After 17 months in Washington, I do not know when or if I will ever return to the business, but I do know that my focus for the foreseeable future will be the work I am doing here in Washington," she said

"So making this decision now is the only fair outcome for my team and partners."  Ms Trump founded the brand in 2014, and saw a surge in sales during the 2016 election campaign

In the year ended January 31, 2017, net sales of Ivanka Trump-licensed apparel rose 61 per cent, to $47

3 million, from the prior year.  When her father won the presidential election, and she decided to work with him in the White House, she had to step aside from operational duties at the company, and sales reportedly began to fall

In February 2017 e-commerce site Lyst reported that transactions for the brand were up more than 700 per cent compared to February 2016

But the volume of sales has steadily declined since then, with order growth dropping to 288 per cent in March, then to 114 per cent in May, and then to 6 per cent in July

By August 2017, order volume was down negative one per cent compared to August of the previous year

American retailer Nordstrom dropped Ms Trump's line last year - leading Donald Trump to lash out at the company for treating his daughter "so unfairly

"  Kellyanne Conway, a senior adviser to Mr Trump, then told shoppers to "go buy Ivanka's stuff" in a televised interview from the White House briefing room - comments which were widely criticised

Nordstrom denied ending its sale of the brand due to Mr Trump's policies, and insisted instead that sales had deteriorated to the point where "it didn't make good business sense for us to continue with the line

"  Neiman Marcus Group and T.J. Maxx have also, in the last 18 months, scaled back or changed the way they display Ivanka Trump products

It is still sold at Lord & Taylor,  Saks Off 5th, and at Bloomingdales, as well as online through Zappos and Amazon

In recent months Ms Trump, growing frustrated at the restrictions placed on the company, had mulled over shutting the firm

Ms Klem said she was "incredibly proud" of the brand.  "I know that this was a very difficult decision for Ivanka and I am very grateful for the opportunity to have led such a talented and committed team," she said

Ivanka Trump Is Shutting Down Her Namesake Fashion Brand: 'I Do Not Know When I Will Ever Return to - Duration: 4:50.

Ivanka Trump's namesake clothing, shoes and accessories brand is closing its doors

After 15 years in the fashion business, the First Daughter's company, which she re-launched in 2014, will soon close down its operations, according to a statement obtained by PEOPLE

"When we first started this brand, no one could have predicted the success that we would achieve

After 17 months in Washington, I do not know when or if I will ever return to the business, but I do know that my focus for the foreseeable future will be the work I am doing here in Washington, so making this decision now is the only fair outcome for my team and partners," Trump said in the statement

"I am beyond grateful for the work of our incredible team who has inspired so many women; each other and myself included

While we will not continue our mission together, I know that each of them will thrive in their next chapter," she added

The move comes after Trump discontinued her fine jewelry line back in March 2017, a decision that was due to "commitment to offering solution-oriented products at accessible price points," the New York Times reported

The jewelry line, with prices in the thousands of dollars, had already been dropped by Neiman Marcus before it was officially discontinued

Just last week, it was also announced that one of Canada's largest department stores, Hudson's Bay, had pulled all merchandise from the brand off its 90 stores' shelves across Canada, along with its website

The company also owns U.S. department stores Lord and Taylor and Saks Fifth Avenue

"As part of our regular course of business, we review our merchandise offerings and make appropriate changes," the company said in a statement, obtained by the Washington Post

But controversy over the brand began around the time of President Trump's inauguration in early 2017

The line became the target of the grassroots "Grab Your Wallet" campaign, in which shoppers boycotted the line — and retailers that sold it

The campaign led to calls urging Nordstrom to drop the line, a move the department store chain eventually made last February, sparking an angry response from Ivanka's father, President Trump, who tweeted about the brand's decision

"We've said all along we make buying decisions based on performance," a Nordstrom spokeswoman told Fortune in an emailed statement

"In this case, based on the brand's performance, we've decided not to buy it for this season

"  The company also responded at the time to the criticism on Twitter, saying: "We hope that offering a vendor's products isn't misunderstood as us taking a political position; we're not

"  As of recently, it was difficult to find Trump's pieces in full-price retail stores

Many items were sold in discount stores such as TJ Maxx, and were even re-labeled by the licensing company as a different brand before being sold to Stein Mart, another chain

Trump's clothes were reportedly being rebranded as Adrienne Vittadini before hitting shelves, a move Stein Mart CEO Hunt Hawkins immediately said was "not political

"  "The Ivanka Trump brand continues to grow and remains very strong," a representative from the licensing company, G-III, said in a statement at the time
