California Fire Map: Fires Near Me Right Now (July 2) | Heavy.com

Fires are still a major problem in California, with the greatest issue right now being the County Fire (previously called the Guinda Fire) in Yolo County.

But there are also quite a few additional fires that you'll want to keep an eye on today. Here is a list, with maps, of the larger fires around the state, their current containment levels, and where they are located.

Read on for more details.

General Map of California Fires.

This map below is an interactive map of some of the bigger fires in California right now, provided by CAL FIRE and Google.

Fires in red are active and fires in black are contained.

The map above lists numerous active fires, which this article will describe in more detail in the next section.

And here is another detailed map of the fires, courtesy of GMAP4 and MappingSupport.com.

You can zoom in to see the areas of most interest to you or zoom out to see the whole state.

Note that due to new requirements by Google, the map will no longer be active on July 15.

List of Active Fires in California as of July 2.

Here are the active fires and updates about them, per CAL FIRE.

It's unclear what the current status for this fire is.

Petersburg Fire.

This fire is 350 acres and located three miles south of Petersburg station.

It started on July 1.

An evacuation order is in effect for Lakeview Ranch and Glacier View Ranch.

The evacuation order for Big Flat was downgraded to a warning.

The fire is 20 percent contained.

Upper Colony Fire.

This fire is located off Upper Colony Road, Smith Valley, East of Highway 395 in Nevada.

It's not a California fire, but close enough that CAL FIRE is listing it on its map.

However, recent reports indicate the fire is now fully contained.

Waverly Fire.

This fire was 12,000 acres a few days ago but has now been changed to inactive and is 100 percent contained.

Yolo County Fire (Guinda Fire / County Fire).

A new fire broke out in Yolo County on Saturday afternoon, Press Democrat reported.

It is in the rural community of Guinda in Yolo County.

This fire quickly grew to 1,000 acres in just a few hours, burning south of Guinda near County Road 63, about seven miles north of Cache Creek Casino, the Press Democrat has shared.

The fire was originally called the Guinda Fire and was later renamed the County Fire.

As of Monday morning, the fire had quickly grown to 44,500 acres and was 3 percent contained.

Mandatory evacuations were issued in the following areas, according to CAL FIRE:.

North of Highway 128 in Yolo County, not including the City of Winters.

South of County Road 23 East of Berryessa Knoxville Road North of Highway 128 in Yolo County, not including the City of Winters Residences served by Highway 128, between Monticello Dam and Pleasant Valley Road.

Evacuation Advisory:.

North of Quail Canyon Road South of Highway 128 East of the Blue Ridge mountains West of Pleasant Valley Road.

Smoke from this fire was visible in Sonoma County.

This is a developing story.

Guide To Los Angeles 🌴 Venice Beach California - Duration: 9:00.

hello guys welcome back to my channel today's video is going to be a Los

Angeles guide to Venice Beach I love doing content around Los Angeles you

guys have seen my moving to LA video and my living in Los Angeles video in this

video I'm gonna tell you all about the places that I love to go in the city of

Venice Beach tons of people travel to Los Angeles every single year at all

times of the year because it's pretty beautiful here all of the time

especially in the summer sunny California days are the absolute

best because I travel a ton I am super excited to be working with hot wire to

create this video for you guys how I are is a website where you can find

four-star hotels at two-star prices and the way that hot wire does that is they

hide the name of the hotel and I just recently did that I tried it and it was

definitely part of the fun the fact that you can go through all of the different

hotel options that they have you don't know what your hotel name is but you can

get really good deals for some really nice hotels booking with Hotwire makes

it so you can experience luxury hotels without the high price tags that way you

have more money to spend on a massage or dining which is always a good thing

definitely check out how I are in the link that I put in the description box

for you guys so you can book killer prices on hotels car rentals or flights

alright so you get to Venice Beach and you want a coffee because if you are

anything like me the very first thing you want to do in your new location is

find the best coffee shop I got you but no D's is my favorite coffee shop in all

of Ennis speech I actually owe that to Marco who is part of the vagabrothers he

is my boyfriend's brother he introduced mono teas to me and ever since it has

been my favorite coffee shop in all of Venice Beach potentially and this is a

bold statement by me potentially my favorite coffee shop in all of LA that's

a big that's a big statement coming from me but I freaking love that place it's a

tiny little hole-in-the-wall cafe that's right underneath

signe there's usually a good amount of people there you're probably always

gonna have a line unless you go midday on like a Tuesday the location is

amazing because you have a lot of really cool places to grab a quick bite to eat

and you also have the boardwalk right there which is the best place to people

watch I love everything that they have there my favorite is just Spanish a lot

today though so if you guys go and get it please tell me and let me know what

you think about it one of my favorite places for breakfast in Venice is the

butcher's daughter first off it is so aesthetically pleasing I have to say

every time I go in there I'm like I want my entire apartment to look like this

place look it up online if you don't live in LA and you will get all of the

inspiration for just decor in general but not only that the food is so good

the butcher's daughter is 100% vegetarian the food is so delicious they

have tons of vegan options and gluten-free options so if you have

dietary restrictions this is probably the place for you

but if you are somebody without dietary restrictions you will still love this

place so much my favorite thing to order there is the surfers breakfast burrito

and I love this because it is the best bang for your buck there because there

are definitely things there that you're like a little bit expensive but

potentially worth it but the surfers breakfast burrito

you get a really great sized burrito with a lot of deliciousness in it and it

tastes so good at a really good price I think it's about 10 bucks or so and it's

filled with tons of stuff and it's super delicious so I get that

and a nice matcha and it's a delicious combo 4 things to do Venice Beach has

such a wonderful neighborhood vibe to it everyone is riding bicycles

skateboarding and as of late everyone and their mother is writing Electra

scooters called Birds and there's also a new one called lime I think it's kind of

like your uber lyft rivalry situation but in an electric scooter but literally

everybody is on them it's insane most of the locals in Venice Beach have bicycles

and if you want to rent one as a tourist or if you're just visiting the area

there is a place called Perry's bike rental that is at the Santa Monica beach

near Tower 26 that's the one I recommend if you're going to be spending the day

at the beach obviously there is like Muscle Beach

which is really famous in Venice Beach I would recommend to lay out and spend

your beach time at the Santa Monica beach at Tower 26 because it is so close

to Venice and it's gonna be a little bit more secluded to enjoy a beach day if

you want to like eat and lounge it's just less people and its really nice to

spend a beach day there another reason why I like it is because right next to

Perry's bike rental is this little food hut where you can order coconut so you

can feel like you're in the Caribbean and they're only like six bucks which is

so awesome I just had one this week and I just

thought why am I not gonna do this the entire summer so that is that is where I

will be the summer when the Sun starts to go down and it's becoming cold an

hour I highly recommend a walk through the

Venice canals there's so many people that don't know about the Venice canals

or feel like it's just a myth or something I've talked to so many people

that are like where are they I've heard about these things but I don't know

where they are just pull out your Google Maps type in Venice canals it will take

you there walking through the canals it's something I would highly recommend

something you have to do when you're in Venice Beach cuz you're pretty much just

walking through history Abbot Kinney is a developer that created the Venice

canals to resemble Venice Italy and it's so stunning shout out to the

vagabrothers for that history information they always give me all the

best history information for everywhere we go

so definitely learned that from my boys last but not least for dinner time you

have to check out Julie on a bikini I would highly recommend it

for dinnertime I've had breakfast there and lunch and if you're gonna have lunch

there definitely get the mushroom pizza oh it's so freakin good they have

several mushroom pizzas and they're all amazing I really like the one with goat

cheese but I would rather recommend to go there at dinner because they have a

ton of veggie sides and like all of these amazing dishes that are so

delicious I'd recommend to sit outside on the

patio obviously there are so many places in

Venice Beach to eat off of Abbot Kinney but when you're in Venice Beach and you

want to try a place that a lot of the locals love and a lot of people that are

coming into town - it's a very popular spot Gelinas is where it's at and if you

go for dessert you have to have the butterscotch pudding it is my mouth is

watering just thinking about it right now

it is so delicious the first time I had it I just had this moment of like we

belong together me and this butterscotch pudding it was salty and sweet and just

oh I can't even tell you guys so yeah you you'll have to get that and then if

the Sun has not yet set walk outside and watch the sunset over the ocean whether

it be rooftop somewhere or right there in front of the ocean there is nothing

like a Los Angeles sunset I mean that's not entirely true because I've seen some

really great sunsets in my life but Los Angeles sunsets are pretty great so you

you know you're gonna get the orange and we got like we've got pinks and oranges

it's it's really it's pretty beautiful so definitely catch the sunset if you

can and that is it for my Los Angeles guide to Venice Beach for you guys I

hope that you really enjoyed this video I hope you got some really good tips I

know you guys have asked me lots of times

where I love to go and eat in LA and those are some of my absolute favorites

so enjoy them let me know if you go and how your experiences here in LA and

definitely check the link in the description box

for more information about hotwire because why not get deals when you

travel travel is the best thing in the world and getting good deals while you

travel is even better so definitely check it out I love you guys to the moon

and back again and I'll see you very soon

in the next one happy travels

Evacuations ordered as winds fuel Northern California fires - 247 news - Duration: 2:48.

Evacuations were ordered as dry, hot winds fueled a wildfire burning out of control Sunday in rural Northern California, sending a stream of smoke some 75 miles south into the San Francisco Bay Area

of dry brush and threatened more than two dozen structures in ranchland northwest of Sacramento

No injuries were reported and the exact number of people evacuated was unclear.Autumn Edens marveled as a huge plume blocked the sun while she drove to her job as manager of the Corner Store in Guinda, a town of about 250 people just north of the fire

'You can see the smoke and you can see an orange-red glow from the flames. It looks like a movie,' she said

'I've never seen a fire like that up close and it's an intense feeling.' Share this article Share It was one of two major wildfires in the northern part of the state, where temperatures were soaring, humidity was dropping and winds were steady

A blaze burning for several days to the west in Lake County jumped containment lines Saturday, prompting additional evacuation orders

That fire was more than 70 percent contained after charring about 22 square miles of brush

Smoke from the Yolo County fire was contributing to poor air quality in Napa, Sonoma, San Mateo and San Francisco counties, according to the National Weather Service

'A lot of friends and family were texting today and saying they were having some PTSD,' said Savannah Kirtlink, who evacuated her Napa home during the blazes in December

She took photos of the smoke moving in this weekend and told KGO-TV she empathized with her neighbors to the north who were forced to flee their homes

'I'm imagining what they're going through,' she said.Officials urged people not to call 911 about smoke unless they see actively burning fire

It was so large that ash was traveling to nearby towns and falling there. The police in Benicia, California, tweeted that there was ash falling and smoke visible there, more than 50 miles away

Another wildfire started burning in California on Saturday afternoon, having since grown to cover more than 15,000 acres

Those displaced by the fire can go to the shelter at Rumsey Grange Hall at 16960 Yolo Ave

A map of all of the fires in California is available online, including the nearby Pawnee Fire

Updates about the fire were available on the Cal Fire Facebook page for anyone looking for evacuation information and maps of the fire

On Saturday night, authorities weren't sure if any structures had been destroyed but knew there were some in the immediate area that could be in danger, The Sacramento Bee reported

Those in the area should pay attention to the local announcements from authorities and be ready to evacuate if they're asked to for their own safety

The Mysterious Dark Watchers of California | Mysterious Universe - Duration: 6:13.

Meandering along the coast of California from Monterey County all the way up into central San Luis Obispo County is the Santa Lucia Mountain Range, a rugged expanse of peaks and wilderness that is imposing enough to have posed a hurdle to early Spanish explorers making their way to the California coast

It is a place of undeniable natural beauty and history, and it has also long been said to be the haunt of inscrutable shadow beings that seem to stand and observe our world from afar

What have come to be known as the "Dark Watchers" are typically said to be very tall humanoid entities ranging in height from 7 feet tall all the way up to around 15 feet tall, dressed all in black and wearing flowing cloaks and wide brimmed hats, with many sightings also mentioning some sort of staves or sticks in the beings' hands

Facial features are not typically seen, and they are almost always silent, enigmatic figures usually seen at a distance up on ridges silhouetted against the darkening twilight sky, always at around dusk or dawn, quietly looking over and surveying their domain with unknowable purpose and often vanishing in the blink of an eye, especially if one is to try and draw closer

The Santa Lucia Mountains  Such bizarre entities have been reported for centuries, with the accounts supposedly traced back to at least the Native Chumash tribe of the central coast of California and the Channel Islands, who apparently had a rich tradition of lore on these enigmatic beings and called them "The Old Ones

" Early Spanish explorers and Mexican ranchers also knew of them, referring to them as Los Vigilantes Oscuros, and they were often seen by early explorers and soldiers in the region, who described the unsettling experience of being observed by them from cliffs high above

These beings have been sighted ever since, going on to be mentioned in countless literary references and sightings reports

One very well-known literary mention of the mysterious beings was written of in John Steinbeck's 1938 book The Long Valley, in which the creatures were written of in a short story called Flight, particularly in one passage that reads:  This is undeniably based on the pervasive lore of these entities, and other writers at around the same time made mention of the Dark Watchers, including notably poet Robinson Jeffers, in his poem Such Counsels You Gave to Me & Other Poems, in which he calls them "forms that look human… but certainly are not human," and says of them:  These literary accounts draw from the same local traditions, which have gone back centuries and continue on into this day

In the mid 1960s there was an alleged sighting of the Dark Watchers made by a high school teacher, who was out hiking in the range at the Monterrey peninsula

As he walked along he claimed that he had seen a tall dark figure looming up upon a ridge, which seemed to be in the process of merely standing and contemplating the scenery

The hiker called out to the mysterious figure and at that instance the entity simply dissolved from sight as if it had never been there at all

There have been numerous supposed sightings of these strange entities since, right up into very recent years

One strange occurrence was told of by a witness from Moreno Valley, California, who in 2011 said:  In 2013 there was a report made by a Elizabeth Benitez of San Mateo, California, who claimed to have seen the specters in broad daylight near the San Luis Obispo reservoir

She would say of this encounter:  Also in 2013 was an account from a witness known only as "Brian," from Hollister, California, who claimed to have seen the entities as they were driving home

He would say of the incident:  In 2015 there was a report from a long distance runner calling himself Joey, in Sylmar California

The witness said that he had been out training for a race in the mountains when he saw something peculiar, saying of his experience:  There have been many other reports as well

As recently as 2018 there was a report from a witness from Ojai , California, who was out hiking in the mountains when he came across something very bizarre indeed

He would say:  There are numerous other accounts of seeing these inexplicable shadow beings out in the wilderness silently surveying the land, to the point that, rather interestingly, John Steinbeck's own son Thomas Steinbeck wrote an entire book on the subject after having his own encounter

He would go on to research the lore of the Dark Watchers and pen the book In Search of the Dark Watchers along with co-author Benjamin Brode, which goes into quite a lot of depth into the phenomenon and its cultural origins

Some have pointed to this being a trick of light or illusion, but that somehow seems to be an inadequate explanation for the entirety of this phenomenon

It seems that this is a phenomenon for which there are no clear answers, and those enigmatic tall beings dressed in dark upon the cliffs and ridges of these mountains at twilight remain a baffling mystery

Are these just illusions or hallucinations? If so, why should they be confined to this one mountain range? There is also the idea that this may be due to the presence of infrasound signals in the area, which can be caused by natural processes such as the wind along the rocks and can have strange effects on the human psyche, but again why should the Dark Watchers legend take root here of all places if that is the case, and why would the reports be so consistent in the appearance and behavior of the entities? Could this be something else? Are these some sort of supernatural or even inter-dimensional entities here on some unknown mission? It is impossible to tell, and the Dark Watchers of California remain a compelling mystery that really captures the imagination

Lakers open summer league in inaugural California Classic - Duration: 6:29.

Every player in the gym wants to earn his place in Lakers history.  Just look at the walls, with the storied numbers and names — Chamberlain, Johnson, Bryant

Look at the window that overlooks the pair of courts, where six polished Larry O'Brien trophies shine

And look at the players, all young, hoping to help the Lakers return to the glory days

Advertisement  Friday marked the Lakers' first day of practice at the UCLA Health Training Center, and one of those players was easy to miss

Svi Mykhailiuk, Los Angeles' second-round pick in last month's NBA draft, is 6-foot-8, lanky and wears a scruffy beard

Compared to first-round selection Moe Wagner, a 7-foot forward, he's easy to overlook

But the Lakers aren't overlooking his potential.  "They were surprised he was still there," Miles Simon, the Lakers' summer league coach, said after talking to Lakers head coach Luke Walton

"I think Svi is gonna be a longtime NBA player."  Mykhailiuk's NBA journey started when Los Angeles picked him 47th, and it'll continue when the Lakers open summer league Monday at 8 p

m. in Sacramento against the Kings. It's their first game of the California Classic, a three-day competition also featuring the Miami Heat and Golden State Warriors summer league teams

A fourth-year senior out of Kansas, Mykhailiuk is known for his shooting. He set a school record for three-pointers with 115 last season

Lakers Late Saturday night meeting with Magic Johnson convinced LeBron James to accept Lakers offer By Tania Ganguli and Broderick Turner Jul 01, 2018 | 10:45 PM  Simon said the Lakers think he's more than a shooter, though

Asked if that meant they'd found a hidden talent in the second round, he replied "I think we did

"  Mykhailiuk also can put the ball on the floor and has good size. Simon acknowledges that Mykhailiuk, like Wagner, will need to improve his defense and learn new terminology, but one practice in, he was impressed

"Svi was awesome," Simon said. "He knocked down some threes. He looked really good

"  Simon is tasked with developing Mykhailiuk in summer league, but he has some help

Second-year Lakers guard Josh Hart, for example, said he considers it his duty to bring rookies along

"It's a lot different than college," the former 30th overall pick out of Villanova said

Simon said his plan for Hart is to play him in one game in Sacramento and then once more in the Las Vegas summer league, although Hart wasn't so sure

He said he wanted to talk to Lakers brass before he makes his playing schedule official

Lakers Lakers sign first-round pick Moe Wagner, add two-way player to roster By Tania Ganguli Jul 01, 2018 | 4:20 PM Advertisement  Hart also came away impressed with Mykhailiuk, who played in the Ukraine before enrolling at Kansas

"He has an NBA-style game," Hart said. "He can shoot the ball and also put it on the ground

"  The Lakers' summer league team won the Vegas title last year, and Mykhailiuk said with hard work and guidance from older players, he's confident in the team's ability to win it again

That's quite a ways from adding another trophy. But for now, it's all that matters

California Passes Strict Internet Privacy Law With Implications For The Country - Duration: 7:33.

California Passes Strict Internet Privacy Law With Implications For The Country

A law signed by Gov.

Jerry Brown Thursday gives Californians sweeping new data privacy rights and could reverberate nationwide — all because a wealthy voter named Alastair Mactaggart leveraged the state's ballot initiative process to bring the American tech industry to its knees.

Mactaggart, who earned a fortune in Bay Area real estate but is nowhere near as wealthy as political megadonors like George Soros or the Koch brothers, started worrying about data privacy after talking with a Google engineer.

"These giant corporations know absolutely everything about you, and you have no rights," he said in an interview earlier this week outside the state Capitol.

"I thought, oh, I'd like to find out about what these companies know about me.

Then I thought, well, someone should do something about that.".

Eventually, Mactaggart decided, "maybe I'm someone.

So he spent nearly $3.

5 million to place an initiative on California's November ballot — then negotiated a deal with state lawmakers instead.

Christin McMeley, a Washington, D.

, attorney who represents cable industry clients on privacy and information security matters, called the new law "a really big deal.

She said California's new law is similar, though not identical, to newly enacted European Union standards.

"It will absolutely change the way that companies do business in the state of California, if not the United States," McMeley said, adding that the law won't only affect Internet companies.

"This is much broader than online.

It is all information.".

Starting in 2020, Californians will have the right to learn what companies like Facebook and Google know about them — and stop the sharing or selling of their data.

And they can sue over data breaches if companies fail to adequately protect their data.

The tech industry scorned the measure as "unworkable." Google, Facebook, AT&T and Comcast joined the opposition campaign, along with the California Chamber of Commerce.

And word surfaced that opponents would spend $100 million to fight the measure.

But behind the scenes, that money never materialized.

"It's important to recognize that tech is not monolithic," said state Democratic Assemblyman Evan Low, who represents Silicon Valley.

He says some companies were spoiling for a fight.

Others wanted a compromise.

And still, others figured it wasn't their battle.

So when Mactaggart and lawmakers gave the tech industry an ultimatum — either take the legislative deal or take its chances with an unpopular and expensive campaign — the industry blinked.

"I think it's a wakeup call for the tech community to recognize that we need to be engaged and proactive in being part of the solution," Low said.

For his part, Mactaggart didn't expect lawmakers would be willing to strike a deal.

"Because think about it," he said, "they've been able to take up privacy for the last 25 years.

No one ever has, because the big tech companies make sure it never gets anywhere.

But we've been pleasantly surprised that they've been willing to negotiate in good faith.".

But the clock was ticking: Thursday was the deadline for Mactaggart to withdraw his measure from the ballot.

And the agreement he reached with two Democratic lawmakers, Assemblyman Ed Chau and Sen.

Bob Hertzberg, was public for less than a week before the Legislature rushed the bill through both houses just hours before the deadline.

Although many lawmakers expressed concerns with both the bill itself and the process used to pass it, Republican Assemblyman Jay Obernolte said it was far better than punting what critics have called a poorly drafted ballot measure to voters.

"I think we can do a better job of balancing the trade-offs between protecting digital privacy on the one hand and encouraging commerce on the other through a legislative process than through the initiative process," Obernolte said during the Assembly floor debate.

Chau promised to address concerns from business and consumer groups before it takes effect.

At a news conference after Brown signed the bill, Mactaggart called it "a great stride forward.

"If it happened here," he said, "it'll happen in the rest of the country.

And with that, Mactaggart pulled his initiative off California's November ballot — his $3.

5 million having conquered a trillion-dollar Goliath.

Twenty-two structures have been destroyed by the fire. The fire is located off Pawnee Rd & New Long Valley Rd, northeast of Clearlake Oaks (Lake County).

There's a chance the new mandatory evacuation may be extended.
