A senior U.S. diplomat will arrive in South Korea this afternoon to coordinate with officials

here ahead of their respective countries' summits with North Korea.

During her three-day stay,... Susan Thornton -- acting Assistant Secretary for East Asian

and Pacific Affairs -- will meet with Seoul's Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha,... as well

as Lee Do-hoon, South Korea's top nuclear negotiator.

They are expected to coordinate on the issues of North Korea's denuclearization... and establishing

peace on the Peninsula.

They will also likely share their views on future measures against North Korea,... especially

as Thornton's visit comes a day after Pyongyang's surprise announcement of a nuclear freeze.

S. Korea, U.S. to start joint military drill on Monday as planned - Duration: 0:46.

South Korea and the United States will begin an annual military exercise on Monday, as

planned, though reportedly with some measures taken to accomodate the inter-Korean summit

talks on Friday.

A South Korean military official said Sunday that the Key Resolve drill will be held for

two weeks.

It's a computer-simulated drill in two parts -- one, responding to a hypothetical attack

by North Korea and, two, an allied counterattack.

Once the first part is over, the allies will reportedly conduct a performance evaluation,...

rather than training,... on the day of the summit.

A joint drill was carried out last month as well, but at what was described as a "lower

intensity"... in view of the diplomatic situation on the Korean Peninsula.

The US missile strikes on Syria aren't about the chemical weapons - Duration: 5:05.

[SOUNDS OF WAR]

[JFK] This demonstrates that we have no

desire, to dominate or conquer any other nation, or impose our system on its people.

After US companies in Cuba refused to do business with the Soviet Union and were expropriated,

the United States launched a failed invasion on the island.

[JOHNSON] Our objective is the independence of South Vietnam, and its freedom from attack.

We want nothing for ourselves.

Renewed hostile actions against US ships on the high seas of the Gulf of Tonkin have today

required me to order the military forces of the US to reply.

No attacks were waged on US ships in the Tonkin Gulf.

This false flag was subsequently used to protect American economic interests in Asia.

This secret phone recording shows Nixon talking with his press secretary admitting to giving

orders to do anything short of a coup d'etat to prevent democratically elected Marxist,

Chilean President Allende from staying In power.

[SECRETARY] A Dominican type, [you were] alleged to have said that.

[NIXON] Right, how'd that get out, he put that out?

[SECRETARY] Well Anderson said that from some source.

[NIXON] Oh yeah.

[SECRETARY] It was a report contained in an ITT.

[NIXON] He was, he was instructed to do that.

[BUSH] All of us agree that the greatest threat facing our nation today is…

[IN UNISON] Communism, drugs, terrorist organizations.

[UNINTELLIGBLE] [REAGAN] With over a billion dollars in Soviet

blockade, the communist government of Nicaragua has launched a campaign to topple it's neighbors.

In order to prevent countries from closing their doors to Western business, Reagan covertly

funded numerous terrorist groups abroad.

The administration plunged Nicaragua into a Civil War to prevent the social-democrat

Sandinistas from staying in power.

[BUSH SR.]

We have a responsibility, not to leave our brave friends in Colombia to fight alone.

The war on drugs and communism gave the Bush and Reagan administrations a front for drug

smuggling as well.

Their moral crusade provided the foundation for them to destabilize Colombia and invade

Panama to maintain control of key geopolitical areas.

[BUSH JR.]

And night fell on a different world, one where freedom itself is under attack.

During the war for freedom, Bush Jr demanded full privatization of public enterprise and

control of Iraqi oil fields among other things.

When states deny western neoliberal demands, Reagan and the Bushes showed we would enact

them by force.

Good thing we have the Democrats.

[CLINTON] Let me say at the outset, America's role will not be about fighting a war.

[OBAMA] The situation profoundly changed tho, on August 21st, when Assad gassed to death

over one thousand people.

Both Obama and Clinton paradoxically undermined democracy to promote it.

Clinton continued the bombing of the Middle East and allowed the NATO Bombing of Yugoslavia,

a campaign meant to force the final pieces of Eastern Europe into accepting Western economic

and social reforms.

What started as a genuine expression of unrest by the Syrian people, the Syrian Civil War

has become an attempt to maintain American strength in the area.

A war between two imperial powers.

As an ongoing conflict, Western propaganda continues to prevent both sides from finding

truth.

The United States has been involved in at least 72 attempted regime changes since the

1940s.

Throughout the years, the justification might change, freedom, communism, Russia, democracy.

But we know better.

[TRUMP] The evil and the despicable attack, left mothers and fathers, infants and childrens,

thrashing in pain.

Stop the bullshit.

No more war, no more imperialism.

Iran could resume nuclear work if US leaves deal - Duration: 1:07.

Iran's foreign minister warned the country could "resume at much greater speed our nuclear

activities" if the U.S. drops out of the Iran nuclear deal.

The country's foreign minister also said, "Iran has many options and those options are

not pleasant."

This comes as the May 12 deadline approaches for President Donald Trump to make a decision

on whether to reimpose economic sanctions on Iran.

France, the U.K., Germany, Russia, China, the U.S. and Iran signed the deal in 2015.

It puts restrictions on Iran's nuclear program in return for relief from economic sanctions.

Trump says the current restrictions aren't tough enough on Iran's ballistic missiles

development and expansionist activities in the region.

Those issues weren't part of the original agreement, and all six other countries have

rejected the changes.

But Trump says he'll pull out of the deal if it isn't "fixed."

This comes ahead of a meeting between Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday.

They're expected to discuss the Iran deal.

Macron told Fox News he'll urge Trump to stay in the agreement since there's not currently

a better option.

Trump now backs marijuana 'states rights' bill, senator says - Duration: 5:02.

Trump now backs marijuana 'states rights' bill, senator says

By Elizabeth Zwirz

President Donald Trump has reportedly lent his support to a U.S. senator from Colorado,

promising to back legislation that protects states rights on legalized marijuana.

The president's decision would represent a split from U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions,

who in January rescinded an Obama-era policy, known as "the Cole memo," that gave states

more leeway over the federal government on marijuana policy.

The name refers to former Deputy Attorney General James Cole, whose memo explained the

policy.

In a statement Friday, U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner, a Republican, said hed received an assurance

from the president on the states' rights' issue earlier this week.

Since the campaign, President Trump has consistently supported states rights to

decide for themselves how best to approach marijuana, Gardner said.

Late Wednesday, I received a commitment from the President that the Department of

Justices rescission of the Cole memo will not impact Colorados legal marijuana industry.

Furthermore," Gardner added, "President Trump has assured me that he will support

a federalism-based legislative solution to fix this states rights issue once and for

all.

gard55 U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner, R-Colo., addresses

reporters, Jan. 22, 2018.

(Associated Press)

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders confirmed Gardner's account of the

president's thinking -- but Sessions' reaction was not immediately known.

According to The Los Angeles Times, Trump did not inform Sessions in advance of the

change in policy.

Trump and Sessions have had moments of friction in their relationship for months, on issues

unrelated to the legality of marijuana.

For instance, Sessions, an early supporter of candidate Trump, has been sharply criticized

by the president in recent months over his decision to recuse himself from an investigation

into alleged Moscow meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

As for marijuana itself, during the presidential race Trump said states should be able to decide

their own pot policies.

"I'm a states person, it should be up to the states, absolutely," he told a television

interviewer in Colorado that year.

However, a year earlier at CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) in Maryland,

Trump had said he supported medical marijuana but called recreational pot "bad."

He singled out Colorado, the first state to allow recreational marijuana sales.

"They've got a lot of problems going on right now in Colorado - some big problems," Trump

said then.

When Trump selected Sessions, a former federal prosecutor and U.S. senator from Alabama,

as his attorney general, marijuana supporters girded for a crackdown.

But Gardner said Sessions had promised him he'd do nothing to interfere with Colorado's

robust marijuana market.

Gardner said he was blindsided when Sessions made his announcement in January regarding

pot prosecutions.

In retaliation, Gardner used his power as a senator to prevent consideration of any

nominees for the Department of Justice an extraordinary step for a senator against an

administration run by another member of his own political party.

As recently as earlier this month, marijuana legalization advocates and industry leaders

were continuing to brace for an administration crackdown and for fresh tensions with the

Trump administration even coaching those in the business how to handle federal raids

as top officials were anticipating greater enforcement on the horizon.

Its definitely an interesting time.

We are nervous, said Beth Collins, senior director of government relations with Americans

for Safe Access (ASA).

Gardner and Justice officials have been in discussions for months to get the holds lifted.

Gardner has met with Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, the official overseeing

the Russia probe who has been the target of Trump's ire.

In his Friday statement, Gardner said he had released some holds, but left others in place

until he acquired a full commitment that the guidelines of the Cole Memo would be respected.

Meanwhile, legislation to protect states where marijuana is legal is still being drafted.

Trump's backing is seen as key to getting a bill through Congress.

AMERICA AND I THINK THAT IT IS IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO GET THIS

CONTEXT SO JAKE JOHNSON AT COMMON DREAMS WRITES ABOUT IT:

SO THERE'S TWO LAYERS TO THAT.

ONE OF, LOOK AT THE DIFFERENCE.

IN ORDER TO PROTECT OUR AIR, OR WATER, MAKE SURE WE DON'T GET

POISONED, 39 BUCKS.

IN ORDER TO WAGE WARS, AND NOBODY IS

ATTACKING US, NOBODY IN SYRIA ATTACKED US, YEMEN, THE LIST

GOES ON AND ON.

WE GOT ATTACKED ALL THE WAY BACK IN 2001 AND NOW

IT IS 2018, 17 YEARS LATER, THAT WAR IS ENDLESS.

THE

PEOPLE WHO ORIGINALLY ATTACKED US ARE LONG GONE, NOW THERE IS

NEW GROUP AFTER NEW GROUP BECAUSE OF ALL THE NEW

AGGRESSIVE WARS THAT WE'VE STARTED IN ORDER TO PAY FOR

THOSE WARS, EACH ONE OF US, THAT'S THE SECOND STUNNING PART.

EACH ONE OF US ON AVERAGE IS GIVING $3456 TO THE DEFENSE

DEPARTMENT, A LOT OF IT GOING TO MILITARY CONTRACTORS.

DID YOU AGREE TO THAT?

ARE YOU HAPPY WITH THAT?

YOU WANT TO TAKE $3406 OF YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY AND GIVE IT TO

DEFENSIVE AND ONLY 39 BUCKS TO PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT, MAKE

SURE YOUR

KIDS ARE SAFE?

THAT IS INSANITY.

LET ALONE THE $80 TO WELFARE AND THE LIST GOES

ON.

TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR OWN TAXES.

24% OF IT JUST TAKE AND GIVE IT

TO MILITARY CONTRACTORS.

JESUS CHRIST.

SO YES, THE DEFENSE

DEPARTMENT ALSO SPENDS MONEY ON EMPLOYEES, ON THE TROOPS, ON A

COUPLE OF OTHER AREAS OBVIOUSLY AND HENCE, THEY HIDE BEHIND THE

FACT THAT HEY, SUPPORT THE TROOPS BUT DO YOU KNOW THAT THE

TROOPS THAT STARTED AT THE GROUND LEVEL, THEY OFTEN GET

PAID $19,000 A YEAR?

THE MONEY IS NOT GOING TO THEM EN MASSE.

$.11 OF EVERY DOLLAR

YOU SEND ON YOUR TAXES, 11% OF ALL THE TAXES YOU PAY GO

STRAIGHT TO DEFENSE CONTRACTORS POCKETS.

LOCKHEED MARTIN,

IT IS NOT TO QUOTE UNQUOTE PROTECT US.

IT IS

NOT FOR OUR DEFENSE, IT IS BECAUSE THOSE GUYS, AGAIN,

THEY GIVE THE MONEY, CAMPAIGN

THEY CAN AFFORD THE TAX

CUTS, $1.9 TRILLION ON THE DEFICIT.

THEY CAN AFFORD

A SUDDEN THEY CAN'T AFFORD IT.

LAST FACT FOR YOU GUYS.

AGAIN,

LINDSAY KOSHGARIAN FOR NATIONAL PRIORITIES SAYING:

THAT'S NOT ALL DEFENSE SPENDING.

THAT'S JUST 10% OF THE MONEY

GOING SPECIFICALLY TO MILITARY CONTRACTORS, SO A TINY SLIVER OF

TEACHER STRIKES ALL ACROSS THE COUNTRY BECAUSE THEY

ARE NOT GETTING PAY RAISES, THEIR HEALTH INSURANCE IS GOING

INFLATION IS GOING UP, OUR TEACHERS ARE SUFFERING AND WE

Russian warships steam into Med 'as Vladimir Putin bids to match US and NATO' - DAILY NEWS - Duration: 3:30.

Russian warships steam into Med 'as Vladimir Putin bids to match US and NATO'

RUSSIAN warships have steamed into the Mediterranean as Vladimir Putin boosts his forces in Syria

in a bid to match the US and their allies.

Russian navy frigate Pytlivy and destroyer Smetlivy both sailed through the Bosphorus

Strait today as they headed for Putin's navy base at Tartus.

Both vessels are bristling with missiles and add to the large Russian navy presence in

the Med.

Up to 11 warships can be docked at Russia's navy base on the Syrian coast – and Putin

has around 10,000 troops in the war-torn nation helping dictator Bashar al-Assad.

And yesterday another Russian warship passed through the English Channel heading for Syria.

Navy watchers have said Putin is trying to ramp his presence to match the US and allies.

Russia's 472ft destroyer Smetlivy weighs around 3,400 tons and is bristling with guided

cruise missiles.

Built by the Soviet Union, the warship is designed to shoot down enemy planes.

Armed with cannons and missiles known as Goa by NATO, the vessel can also carry a helicopter

at its stern.

Its deployment comes after US, UK and France launched 103 missiles against three targets

in Syria.

Meanwhile the second vessel, Putin's frigate Pytlivy weighs around 3,300 tons and is 405ft

long.

The Krivak-class vessel was designed to take on enemy submarines with rockets and torpedo

tubes.

It also has launchers capable of firing anti-submarine missiles, along with 40 anti-air missiles.

And while the two warships sailed for Syria, the Russian alligator-class landing vessel

Nikolai Filchenkov was seen sailing back into the Black Sea.

Tensions between Russia and the West over Syria have spiked after the US, UK and France

attacked Assad over the alleged chemical weapons attack in Douma.

Russia appears to be reinforcing its presence in the war-torn nation, with three Russian

cargo ships packed with tanks and trucks spotted sailing for Syria last week.

Bosphorus navy observer Yörük Işık wrote: "Russia ramping up its presence in the eastern

Med to match the US and its allies."

He shared pictures of the vessels sailing the strait which connects the Med to the Black

Sea – and the ports in southwestern Russia.

Russia and Syria deny any chemical attack took place and claim strikes by the West were

illegal.

Hundreds of people are believed to have been gassed – with dozens, including children,

killed – in the rebel-held town of Douma.

Assad and Putin have suggested the attack was either entirely faked, or staged in a

bid to bring the US into the war in Syria.

Daily Star Online revealed Russian nuke targets in the US if tensions exploded into World War 3.

What 'This Is Us' Star Chrissy Metz Misses Most About The South | Southern Living - Duration: 3:48.

I do have a favorite Southern food, and maybe

it's not so Southern, but it's squash casserole.

Some people add Ritz crackers, some people add saltines.

Now, I say either one.

Make sure you 'on't forget the cheese.

Bing!

That was cute.

(sighs) Growing up in Florida was so fun.

We used to feed horses on the way to school,

which was really cute and really fun,

and would cause us to be late sometimes, which is not good.

And you're going to the springs, or going to the beach,

and on the way to the beach, you get bowled, bowled peanuts.

Bowled.

We'd also ride our bikes to TCBY, The Country's Best Yogurt.

Some people don't know that.

There was a creek in my neighborhood.

We shouldn't have been in it, but we were.

It mighta been like a retention pond,

but it looked like a creek.

There's just something really different

about growing up in the South, and I 'on't think,

unless you've experienced it, you really understand.

Yes!

Of course I'm a Gator fan! (sighs)

Listen, it is a house divided with my family.

I 'on't even wanna say the three letters FSU.

I recently took my family to an FSU-Gator game

And I'm not gonna say who won,

'cause it doesn't matter anyway.

It's hard to say where I always

go back to, aside from Publix.

I grew up going there, and I get excited.

My friend and I get excited when we see Publix.

We're exciting.

In my Publix sub, I like: mayonnaise, mustard,

tomato, turkey, cheese, light lettuce,

salt and pepper, maybe some oil and vinegar.

White bread

cut

in like threes,

'cause I want to savor it,

and sometimes, it seems,

I mean, nothing's insurmountable, let's be honest,

but it seems that way, so I like it divvied up.

What do I love most about the South?

I think it's just the way people treat each other,

and they're not rushin' you to get outta the restaurant,

and they wanna make sure that what you're havin' is good,

and we went to a restaurant, and the girl was like,

"I don't wanna bring you these muffins,

'cause I wouldn't eat 'em, and if I wouldn't eat 'em,

I 'on't wanna give 'em to you."

And I just think that is

the sweetest thing and so thoughtful.

I remember moving to LA, and I dropped groceries,

and somebody stepped over me, whereas

in the South, they would help ya get groceries

and get new bags, and make sure that you're,

you know, it's just people are just very, very thoughtful.

How would I describe the modern Southern woman?

I think she's a little more outspoken than ever before.

Less aware of what other people think.

Much more independent.

My grandmother was

the toughest cookie.

So graceful, and she loved makeup,

and her hair was always coiffed,

but she was such a great provider,

and she was such a fan of mine.

I could do no wrong, which is

sometimes an issue in our family.

I'm like, "It's fine 'cause Grandma loved me the best,"

which is not nice, but when you're fighting

with your family, that's what you do.

You push the buttons.

Not nice.

I've grown out of that, but we know the truth.

She was just so a wonderful, wonderful woman,

and very opinionated, and spoke her mind.

I learned so much from her.

She was very religious, and I always had a strong faith

as well, and that was, I think, instilled from her.

Whatever you believe in, I think that

it's important to have that strength and that foundation,

because it got me through everything that I've been through

to be here, sitting here right now.

Initially, I called her "Grams,"

but my special name for her was "Nama," N-A-M-A.

Also, it was because I couldn't pronounce "grandma"

when I was little, so it was Nama.

I do love cute little Southern names for grandparents

like Memaw and Pawpaw and,

oh, it's cute.

North Korea bows to pressure from US suspending nuclear tests ahead of Kim-Trump meeting - DAILYNEWS - Duration: 4:04.

North Korea bows to pressure from US suspending nuclear tests ahead of Kim-Trump meeting

DONALD TRUMP'S threat of military strikes has been credited as the main reason for North

Korea suspending its nuclear weapons programme.

The hermit kingdom's dictator Kim Jong-un said yesterday the country will suspend all

nuclear tests and dismantle its test site in favour of economic growth and peace.

The concession was made just days before crunch talks with South Korea and weeks before Kim

and the US President meet in a crucial summit.

All six of North Korea's underground nuclear tests were carried out at the Pyunggye-ri

test site, including the last and largest in September.

The pledge to halt the nuclear weapons programme initiated by his grandfather, Kim Il-sung,

is a significant U-turn by the 34-yearold leader, who has made the security of North

Korea his main policy since acceding to power in 2011.

International sanctions are known to be biting, particularly since last year when they were

supported by his main ally, China, and are hampering Kim's aim of military and economic

development.

Humanitarian agencies can no longer operate north of the 38th parallel and Beijing's decision

not to import North Korean textiles has starved Pyongyang of a vital source of currency.

China also stopped the export of petroleum, the lifeblood of North Korea's military.

Donald Trump's threat of military action carried more weight in the face of fuel shortages

in the armed forces, former Japanese intelligence chief Sakai Takahashi said.

"Sanctions on their own are ineffective against a regime which is too used to the hardship

of its people," he said.

South Korean expert and journalist Sukha Kwon said: "North Korea may have a two-million

man army but its equipment is old.

We know that Kim was struggling even to hold military exercises because of the fuel implications.

Kim is all too aware that his forces would last two or maybe three days in the event

of a full conventional attack.

"Takahashi is clear the military threat was the final deciding factor and, while South

Korea's President Moon receives credit for inviting North Korea to the Winter Olympics,

it is a view shared by most people in South Korea."

The decision to announce the freeze well before the summit came after Kim convened a meeting

of the Central Committee of the ruling Workers' Party on Friday and was hailed by experts

as a sign of his sincerity.

But others urged caution.

"What Kim has actually done is to confirm he has developed his nuclear forces sufficiently

and can afford to freeze the programme now," said James Hoare, ex-British charge d'affaires

in Pyongyang.

"I doubt that will be enough for the US who, like Japan, will want guarantees of total

denuclearisation.

"We've been here before and it didn't take North Korea long to get back on the nuclear

track after it abandoned the agreed framework in 2002."

Sukha Kwon said: "President Moon's young supporters are very optimistic but the rest of the country

is suspicious Kim is playing for time to build up his economy.

Even if he dismantles his entire nuclear programme, he will retain the expertise and materials

to build it up again."

Mr Trump, who will come to Britain for a state visit this summer, said the decision to suspend

nuclear tests was good news for North Korea and the world.

World War 3: Iran issues Donald Trump with SCATHING THREAT if US abandons nuclear deal - DAILY NEWS - Duration: 2:48.

World War 3: Iran issues Donald Trump with 'SCATHING THREAT' if US abandons nuclear deal

IRAN has issued Donald Trump with a scathing threat if he chooses to abandon the country's

multinational nuclear deal as World War 3 fears between the two nations rise, it has

emerged.

The president of the Middle East nation, Hassan Rouhani, warned that Tehran's atomic agency

was ready with "expected and unexpected" actions if the Republican firebrand chooses to abandon

the agreement.

He added: "Our atomic energy organisation is fully prepared…for actions that they

expect and actions they do not expect."

The leader failed to further discuss the warning or what the nation was "fully prepared"

for.

Iran has previously stated that it will abide by the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action

(JCPOA) if all other nations respect it.

However, the nation exclaimed that it would "shred" the deal if the US abandons the

deal.

Tehran's foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, was quoted by state TV in the Middle

East nation as declaring that if Mr Trump pulls out of the deal, Iran's reaction "will

be unpleasant".

He declared: "Iran has several options if the United States leaves the nuclear deal.

"Tehran's reaction to America's withdrawal of the deal will be unpleasant."

Robert Wood, the US' disarmament ambassador declared that "intense" discussions have

been had with European states ahead of a May 12 deadline that has been set to "fix"

the agreement.

Donald Trump has consistently blasted the JCPOA as one of the worst deals ever negotiated.

He sent an ultimatum in January to the UK, France and Germany to address his complains

with the deal or the US would abandon it.

The President has emphasised that Tehran's abiding of the pact should be monitored more

closely.

"In the absence of such an agreement, the United States will not again waive sanctions

in order to stay in the Iran nuclear deal.

"And if at any time I judge that such an agreement is not within reach, I will withdraw

from the deal immediately."

The leader of the US has made efforts for a different agreement to be made that addresses

his concerns with the JCPOA.

S. Korea, U.S. to start joint military drill on Monday as planned - Duration: 0:45.

Once the first part is over, the allies are expected to conduct a performance evaluation,...

rather than training,... on the day of the summit.

A joint drill was carried out last month as well with "lower intensity"... in view of

the diplomatic situation on the Korean Peninsula.
