Hello, hello!

I'm Karen Avila, I'm a fashion designer, fashion illustrator, and a surface pattern

designer, and I design + illustrate + teach over FSBS.com

Ok, so I'm gonna make this video real short so you can quickly go to sign up and take

But, first I'd like to talk a little about who should definitely learn fashion drawing,

so you can determine if these free lessons are for you or not.

Who should learn Fashion Drawing?

Both aspiring fashion designers and fashion illustrators should learn fashion drawing

because it's the foundation of every fashion illustration.

Aspiring fashion designers should learn fashion drawing so they can communicate their designs

and ideas.

As fashion designers, we can't work alone and produce everything ourselves.

We have to work with a team, we have to share our ideas with the people involved in the

production, and we also have to share our designs with buyers, customers, sales agents,

etcetera.

And aspiring fashion illustrators must learn fashion drawing because it's where the whole

work begins.

Most of the times we fashion illustrators start with a drawing of what will turn into

an illustration.

And, although some illustrators don't start with a drawing per se, they can start painting

right away, but they already know what to paint and how to paint because they learned

everything about fashion drawing, body and face proportions, and how clothing and different

kinds of fabric look on the body.

Great, now that we're clear that you need to learn fashion drawing whether you want

to become a fashion designer or illustrator, let's see what these free lessons are all

about.

A couple of years ago I launched an online course on How to Draw Fashion Figures and

Meet Hayley Elsaesser Fashion Design - Duration: 1:47.

My name is Hayley Elsaesser

and I'm a Toronto based fashion designer.

My brand is all about color, and vibrancy,

and print, and not being afraid to be yourself.

Ever since I can remember,

I've always been someone that's really into technology.

I used to love playing with my computer,

my mom would have to force me to go outside.

So, I've always loved kind of the idea

that you could escape into technology

and really delve into a different world.

When I'm designing, I love to come up with

a little universe that inspires my collection.

So, I'm always inspired by the world around me, pop culture.

Maybe a little pin on the lapel?

Rather than starting from paper and scanning it in,

and redrawing, I can now just draw directly

on the computer so it removes

a whole bunch of steps along the way,

and it makes it much easier for me

to share them with my team,

have someone else use the Surface to

sketch up a design and send it back to me.

So, the process is much more streamline now.

Also, I love how you can detach the screen

and go through lookbooks and that kind of thing,

and mark up things that buyers like.

So, it's just a really nice way to present a collection

in a very clean way.

In the past, I always have tried to

describe the collections that I've created

in these worlds that I've come up with

for each collection that I do but,

I think it never fully comes across.

Mixed realty I think has huge potential.

I think it's an amazing way for in the future

for customers to try on clothing on themselves,

engaging with customers, and really telling the story

about the brand a little bit further

and just, it seems like the possibilities are endless.

We've only really scratched the surface.

and we are going to late right now

and still looking for something to wear

and we are very tired

look like we doesn't have enough sleep , since the beginning of the week

because I forgot mine in Thailand

I forgot in on the table, at my college.

welcome to my forth day of Seoul fashion week video

I have to say that

it been a very very very tired week

since I came from Thailand, and I didn't have a time to sleep

and then I have sleep on the plane , after that I sleep just only 3 or 4 hours per day

beacause I have a very early show

and then I have after party

so It didn't have a time to sleep at all

I have to manage what to wear too.

at first I think this look going to be like very terrible

because I didn't plan anything

and I don't have anything that look match together

so I decide to mix something out in the morning

but it seem like it's work! it turns out very cool! like you see!!

anyway! Today me and Kate going to wear something bit similar

because the color and the boots color is very match together.

so I'm very exciting about it!

Seriously like yesterday, it's very worse

because me and Kate White are very tired

when I go have a lunch with Kate,I am looking for a lipstick to put on

and then, I just felt sleep when I still looking for my lipstick

ahhh okey so my lipstick is here

ohhhh I woke up, "I'm sorry, I just very sleepy"

Kate also look the same

she is typing her work

we just felt sleep , like everywhere

in the show, we have to go get coffee, because we can't take it anymore.

and it's very very very very funny cause it reach our limits already!

everyone looks so tired, this is cold and stuffs so....

but anyway, I hope it going to be fun today!

because like....

we still have just today and tomorrow, it's just 2 more days of Seoul fashion week

and I don't wanna leave my friends

because like, you know, It's hard to meet

we able to meet like 1 per year or maybe 2

but for me

because I came to fw just only this season

so just only in March

So I can meet my friends just only in March

she is here!!!! Let's go!!!

so finally we arrive in the station, in time!

for the first day of Seoul Fashion week, this is the first time that I arrive on time

not late, and don't miss any show

before these 3 days, I missed a lot of shows

and I lated, like very very very late

so I'm very happy today:)

Here's How Much Fashion Jobs Actually Pay in 2018

Fashionista has just published its annual salary survey surrounding what fashion jobs actually pay. At the beginning of the year, the publication spoke with roughly 3,000 readers to in turn compile data pertaining to 2018.

Individuals thus provided their titles, companies, gender, location, years of experience, and compensation.

Those who participated had anywhere from one year of experience to over 20, with areas including design, styling, retail, PR, development, marketing, photo, editorial, and advertising at companies such as Nordstrom, Tiffany & Co., Condé Nast, Marc Jacobs, and Ralph Lauren.

Some make only $25,000 USD a year, while others rake in over $500,000 USD.

It's also worthy of note that the size of the company of course has much to do with how it pays employees, as those who work for public organizations generally earn more than individuals at private companies.

Fashionista also points out that design, retail, and PR jobs have the largest percentages of over-$100,000 USD salaries.
