TRADE WARS: China slaps US with massive £3billion import tariffs in retaliation for steel
CHINA has slapped the USA with tariffs of up to worth $3 billion (£2.1 billion) on
128 US imports in retaliation against Donald Trump's steel import charges.
President Xi Jinping has retaliated against Donald Trump by hitting the USA with tariffs
on popular imports like pork and wine.
The trade war row comes after the US President hit Beijing with steel and aluminium duties
totalling $60 billion last month.
The move will "safeguard China's interests and balance", according to Beijing.
President XI plans also to place 15 percent tariffs on nuts, fresh and dried fruit, as
well as rolled steel bars.
Some experts warned China could tax US tech companies like Apple next - which would force
big American firms to raise their prices to compensate.
But Donald Trump has reacted bullishly to the news that China has ramped up its efforts
in a trade war with America.
The imposition of tariffs is due to China's theft of foreign intellectual property - and
a historical trade imbalance between the two nations.
Mr Trump insisted "trade wars are good," and that it will be "easy" for the USA
to beat China.
China has a large surplus with the US and for that reason has much more downside if
a trade war escalates.
The President tweeted last month: "When a country (USA) is losing many billions of
dollars on trade with virtually every country it does business with, trade wars are good,
and easy to win.
"Example, when we are down $100 billion with a certain country and they get cute,
don't trade anymore-we win big.
It's easy!"
American authorities have already announced plans to further place tariffs on Chinese
imports.
A tit-for-tat trade war between the two economic superpowers has been developing for some time
- and could jeopardise growth in global markets.
Donald Trump has also warned the European Union they too could face tariffs if they
do not open up their market.
The EU is famously protectionist, ratcheting up tariffs against often less prosperous non-EU
countries.
Prime Minister Theresa May has tried to use her influence to oppose the erection of trade
barriers in Europe and America, as has Trade Secretary Liam Fox.

China imposes tariffs on 128 items of U.S. imports - Duration: 2:09.
As promised, China is imposing new tariffs on 128 kinds of products from the United States...
in response to the Trump administration's own tariffs on China.
Those products include meat, fruit and wine.
Beijing says it doesn't want a trade war, but won't back down from one either.
Kim Hyesung has the details.
China has imposed new tariffs of up to 25 percent on U.S. imports,... in response to
U.S. duties on imports of steel and aluminum.
The Chinese finance ministry said in a statement Sunday that it is increasing the tariff rates
on 128 kinds of U.S. products, including pork and fruits, with the new rates coming into
effect on Monday.
Beijing said the move was to "safeguard China's interests" and balance losses caused by new
U.S. tariffs.
It's expected to have an impact of around three billion U.S. dollars.
Tariff rates on eight imported U.S. products, including pork and U.S. scrap aluminum will
be subject to a 25 percent additional tariff - on top of existing duties.
China is also imposing a new 15 percent tariff on 120 imported U.S. commodities, including
fruits and nuts.
The announcement comes after Beijing has made warnings for several weeks in an escalating
trade dispute with the United States.
"We have said many times that China does not want to fight a trade war.
But we have also said if we are forced to enter into a trade war, China has the stamina
and the confidence to protect its interests."
The tariffs mirror T's 25 percent charge on imported steel and 15 percent hike on aluminum
announced in March.
According to the U.S.-China Business Council, U.S. goods exported to China in 2016 totaled
around 113 billion dollars, making China the United States' third largest export market.
U.S. President Donald Trump has said Washington is planning to impose duties on about 50 billion
dollars of Chinese goods,... intended to punish Beijing for U.S. allegations that China systematically
misappropriated American intellectual property.
U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer has until April 6 to release the tariff list.

South Korea, U.S. begin annual military drills postponed for Winter Olympics - Duration: 0:53.
South Korea and the U.S. resumed their joint military drills on Sunday,... as diplomatic
relations continue to thaw on the Korean Peninsula.
The postponed drills-- including the Foal Eagle and Key Resolve exercises -- will wrap
up before the April 27th summit between leaders of South and North Korea,... and ahead of
a meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un next month.
Nearly 300-thousand South Korean forces and 11-thousand U.S. troops will take part in
the four-week exercise.
The start was delayed at the request of South Korean government until the end of the PyeongChang
Winter Olympics.
The South Korean military says the size of the drills will be similar to that of previous
years,... but it's reported they'll be less "intense" -- with fewer U.S. strategic assets
involved to emphasize the defensive nature of the exercises.

Newt Gingrich Just Put the Fear of God Into the Deep State With Chilling Warning
Former Speaker of the House and resident truth-teller Newt Gingrich took to Fox News on Sunday to
preach a message of truth and transparency, along with what happens when you choose to
live on the contrary.
Gingrich not only called out the secrecy and bias in the media, but he named names,
"I mean, I think you probably have the president [Obama] involved.
You have the Attorney General Loretta Lynch who you'll remember met in secret with Bill
Clinton the week they were interviewing Hillary.
You now have evidence that Comey … was writing the statement exonerating Hillary two months
before the interview.
… it is the most extraordinary example of the deep state totally abusing the rule of
law."
He called out hypocrisy,
"… except of course for Adam Schiff and the Democrats who are in the see no evil,
report no evil, just hide with evil for the weekend kind of group."
Gingrich slaughtered Clinton and her cronies with this final statement that should leave
them shuddering in fear.
"In any reasonable system of law, Secretary Clinton would already be in jail.
All of her senior aides would be in jail."
There you have it, folks.
The plain, cut and dry truth about the leftists.
When they've done something wrong, they sweep it under the rug and choke out any witnesses.
When they can't dig something up on Trump, they fabricate something – and the media
runs with it!
Everything is finally surfacing, and hopefully the American people see justice soon for not
only being lied to but so many wasted resources on the taxpayer's dime.
Do you believe Obama and Clinton should be locked up?

The Genesis Adam Rippon: U.S. Olympic Figure Skater | NowThis - Duration: 3:08.
For his entire life and career, U.S. figure skater Adam Rippon had embodied
the saying that 'some things are worth the wait.'
Adam Rippon was born in 1989.
The oldest of six children to a single mom
in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
As a young child, Adam repeatedly battled health problems.
He was born nearly deaf and with a severe eye infection, though both
ailments were surgically corrected before he turned a year old.
By the time he turned five, he had also survived a severe respiratory condition
and a burst appendix.
Rippon was late to get into figure-skating compared to many Olympic
hopefuls. He didn't take up the sport and full until he was almost 10,
but once he started his talent was undeniable.
In 2008 and 2009 he became the first man in history to win back-to-back
Junior World Skating titles.
The next year, in 2010,
he was an alternate for the U.S. figure skating team in Vancouver. It looked like
Rippon's career was peaking at just the right time for the 2014 games.
Sochi was gonna be his ultimate breakthrough moment
but the unthinkable happened.
A month before the Olympics, Rippon turned in a disastrous performance at
the 2014 U.S. Championship, finishing a distant 8th and it kept him off the
2014 Olympic team.
Discussing his heartbreak months later
Rippon said he cried for three days straight.
Now while that moment might
have ended the careers of lesser athletes, Rippon had one more
chapter left to write.
And, for Adam, reviving his career started with being
true to himself.
In October 2015, he officially came out as a gay man.
That announcement lifted a weight off Rippon's shoulders
personally as well as professionally.
Rippon said in 2017
In 2016, Rippon returned to the U.S. Figure Skating National Championships,
the same place he suffered his biggest professional
setback,
but this time he won it all.
After another solid showing at the event
in 2018, Rippon finally achieve thing that's eluded him his entire
skating career:
he punched his ticket to the Olympics.
His appearance of Pyeongchang is historic
on a bunch of fronts. Not only was he the first openly
gay man to qualify for the Winter Olympics in U.S, history, but at 28,
he's also the oldest rookie Olympic figure skater in 82 years.
Adam Rippon's figure skating career is a testament to the power of staying true
to yourself and never giving up on your dreams. He's proof that no matter the
obstacles and setbacks an athlete can face along the way it is never too late
and it's never out of reach.

Trader Alert! China Chooses Trade War With US - Duration: 5:35.
Alright guys, I've got another trader alert for you.
This is incredible!
Alright, I mean we knew that this was coming.
Right?
I've been saying that it's going to elevate the trade war with China.
Right?
It's not going to get better.
On CNBC they just reported that China has announced its imposing new tariffs on 128
US products.
Alright most people have not even heard about this news yet.
When they get back to work, their trading desks, institutional traders, it's all going
to come down on Monday.
Alright.
China said that it's rolling out new tariffs on meat, fruit, and other products from the
US.
These additional duties are in retaliation to President Trumps new taxes on steel and
aluminum imported into the US.
As told the extra tariffs will hit 128 kinds of US products, multiple outlets have reported.
The list of new tariffs matches the list released by China on March 23 according to Reuters.
China is implementing new tariffs on meat, fruit, and other products from the US, in
retaliation for American duties heightening fears of a potential trade war.
What are they talking about a potential trade war?
We are in a trade war.
The trade war with China has already started.
Obviously President Trump is thwarting China's attempts at world domination.
China is moving to take over the world and become the world's strongest superpower and
President Trump is standing in their way.
Folks, I was literally working on an article for Alibaba stock.
Okay I was just about ready to go live with an article about why Alibaba stock might be
a good buy here because it's bouncing off of support, uptrend support, and it did a
candle over candle.
Alibaba has incredible growth, right?
No, I'm deleting the article.
I'm not pushing the article out on Alibaba.
We have to see what this news is gonna do to the markets on Monday.
And listen to the stupid analysts on CNBC.
Where do they get these jokers?
Listen to this.
China's retaliation is, quote, a statement of intent but it's not an escalation in our
opinion, unquote.
You're an idiot Steve Bryce, Chief Investment Strategist at Standard Chartered Private Bank.
What an idiot!
Obviously this is an escalation!
Obviously this is a trade war!
And yet you still have these posers at CNBC, NBC media groups, trying to play this down,
trying to make it look like China is the good guy, try to make it look like the US and specifically
President Trump is the bad guy, trying to make it look like China's just trying to be
more moderate in their response to us, that it's crazy Trump that's causing all this.
These guys are a bunch of idiots!
And now they're quoting some Steve Bryce as saying this is not an escalation in our opinion?
What a stupid thing to say!
Of course this is an escalation in, in the trade wars with China.
Now, Trump is deciding how big on US imports from China.
So do you really think that this was a smart move by China?
To basically strike back, at the exact time when President Trump is figuring out how deep
and how big these tariffs are gonna be against China?
President Trump is likely gonna hit China even harder now because that's what we know
about President Trump.
You punch him, he'll punch you back twice as hard.
China had the choice to work with the US, work with us on reducing the trade deficit
and instead China has chosen confrontation, a trade war.
And this is happening at a time when the S&P 500 is currently testing the 200 day moving
average.
Now looking at the futures market the S&P 500 E-mini futures are only down about 0.26%.
The NASDAQ though is down about double that at -0.44%.
So these are the overnight futures that started trading now both the S&P 500 and the NASDAQ
is down.
Also I think it's important to note that gold is up 0.34%.So is silver.
Silver's up even more, 0.87%.
So in the futures market, even though were not having big selloff moves, we've got a
rotation into defensive gold and silver.
Folks keep an eye on the futures market for where this market is gonna open on Monday.
And all eyes should be on the 200 day moving average on the S&P 500.

Us vs. Them: From George Wallace to Donald Trump - Duration: 7:48.
President Donald Trump's rise was fueled by voters fed up with the status quo.
"When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best.
They're not sending you."
"It's us and them, and he tapped into it."
"We can't continue to allow China to rape our country."
"He knows what needs to be done.
Make America great again."
And his rhetoric continues to polarize the country.
"President Trump using an ugly, vulgar expression that is racist."
"So, I don't understand what the sin is.
What's good for us?
Are we allowed to ask that question or is that racist?"
"Build the wall!"
But the politics of division aren't new.
Five decades ago,
populist appeals fueled the rise of another controversial politician,
George Wallace, whose story ended in a way no one expected.
"Well, Wallace was a good politician.
He knew how to play the game
and, maybe more to the point, he would use anything to play that game."
"I say, segregation now, segregation tomorrow and segregation forever."
B. Drummond Ayres covered Wallace for The New York Times 50 years ago.
"Race was everything with Wallace.
Whatever he did had a racial element to it."
But Ayres says Wallace didn't start out that way
when he first ran for governor in 1958.
"He started out traditionally.
Roads, schools, and so forth.
One of his opponents started talking about race itself, blacks and whites.
And he beat Wallace and that's when he changed and said he'd never be beaten again."
In 1963, as governor of Alabama,
he rose to prominence by defying President John F. Kennedy.
"The governor is adamant.
He made a campaign promise to stand in the doorway himself
to prevent the integration of the last all-white state university."
"The race element was the biggest thing in the South
and segregation was the biggest element in the racial factor.
Wallace just played it, he rode it.
It was about the only thing he did because he wasn't particularly
interested in issues."
"The best thing I know to do is to let Dixie introduce George Wallace."
When Wallace ran for president, he carried that issue to the national stage.
"Don't worry about what the newspapers say about us.
They call us extremists and want to say we are fascist.
Well, I want to tell these newspapers something,
these large newspapers who think they know more than the average citizen
on the street in New York, you haven't always been right."
"Afterward many left humming 'Dixie' and shouting, 'White power!'"
Wallace made opposing federal mandates to integrate
schools and neighborhoods a centerpiece of his presidential campaigns.
"Why are more and more millions of Americans turning to Governor Wallace?
Follow, as your children are bussed across town."
"Chaos exists in this country and in the public school system because of bussing.
Everybody knows that, so I'm not bringing on any chaos.
Bussing is bringing on chaos."
"'Them' is the word.
We don't want 'them' in our schools.
We don't want to be on the bus with 'them.'
We don't want 'them' living next to us."
And he lit a spark under a swath of American voters who felt ignored.
"He's our kind of man, our kind of man.
George Wallace is our kind of man."
"As he always puts it, he speaks for the truck driver,
the beautician, the policeman
and other members of the so-called working class."
[Music]
"I like that man, he tells you what, you know.
He tells you the truth.
That's what it is."
"And it is true that the liberal, educated, academic, journalistic, professional, intellectual
circles seem not much interested in the white working class."
"He is not a racist.
That's definite."
"I'm going to vote for George Wallace because he says what I like to hear."
(Cheering)
"Wallace understood that there were people who were hurting,
struggling, losing jobs.
He tapped into that and appealed to that because folks that are struggling
often feel put upon. Wallace played that to the hilt."
"I did represent more of the average citizen of this country than did any other candidate
based on the fact that the man who works each day for a living
and pays his taxes and holds the country together has been ignored
except on Election Day."
"The next president of the United States: the Honorable George C. Wallace!"
[Gunshots]
[Screaming]
"We won't ever know how far he might have gone had he not been shot.
But after he got shot, over a few years, all of a sudden, he had an epiphany - it seems."
Times were changing and Wallace - who at that point had been Alabama governor
for much of the past decade - understood he had to change with them.
"The turning point when everybody realized that he was turning
was the crowning of the homecoming queen."
"Congratulations here.
You're a mighty pretty queen here."
"She bends down and he puts a crown on her and holds both of her hands like that.
It made the evening news.
And very shortly after that, if not the same weekend,
Wallace met with the southern black leaders in Alabama
because he was in another campaign at that point.
And he needed their votes."
"Some blacks are willing to talk now about supporting a Wallace candidacy."
"I think that what men do in the future as far as improving the quality of life
for all citizens, be they black or white, is really what's going to determine
whether or not that was a great man or an effective man,
not so much what he did in the past."
"He made apologies, asked for forgiveness
and, in fact, Martin Luther King's father came in and actually prayed with him.
And he went to the grave still apologizing, still saying he was wrong,
still saying he was trying to do something for black folks.
And in fact, he was at that point.
He would do things as a governor that would help blacks
because the worm had turned on this issue."
"It would take him 20 years to abandon the politics of race.
But in 1982 when he came out to run for governor once again,
he won with crucial black support.
Blacks had acquired political power.
Now he needed them."
"If you want to be cynical - and I can be cynical about George Wallace -
what it says about him is that he would play anything with the race angle
to get votes."
"I made a mistake and that's all in the past and I'm sorry that I did that
because it gave the wrong opinion of the kind of man that I was."
"Only the good Lord knows whether or not he was sincere."
"Only the good Lord knows whether or not he was sincere."

South Korea, U.S. begin annual military drills postponed for Winter Olympics - Duration: 0:55.
