If you're using WordPress, so you head over to plugins add new

Elementor and you click on Install Now and you activate it. So that's the first step

Let's make the messages in the email thread collapsable.

The easiest way to do that is by using an ExpansionTile.

Let's put the message into the children (array).

Now we can remove the Column.

Give it a try.

It works, but there is something we can't control.

It adds some paddings around the title,

and also add two extra lines when the item is expanded.

Because we can't change the behavior of the ExpansionTile,

we have to create our own expansion tile widget.

It should only handle expansion logic, and nothing else.

Let's create a new folder to hold all our custom widgets.

Create a new file to hold the widget.

Let's call it VanillaExpansionTile.

Our VanillaExpansionTile should be a StatefulWidget.

Import material library.

We want to make our VanillaExpansionTile as

a drop-in replacement of ExpansionTile we are using now.

We want to keep the parameters as close as possible to the ExpansionTile.

So it should have a title widget, a list of children.

Let's create a constructor for that.

In the state, we need a boolean variable to keep the current expansion state,

initialized to false.

In the build function of the state, we will simply return a Column widget.

It will contain the title,

and optionally the children depend on the current expansion state.

We also need to handle tapping on the title and change the expansion state.

In the handling function, we simply toggle the boolean value and rebuild the widget.

Now let's go back to our detail page,

and replace the ExpansionTile with our new VanillaExpansionTile.

Import the package.

We are all set!

Let's give it a try.

Here we go.

We are displaying all the messages collapsed by default.

When we tap on the title, it will expand, showing the actual message.

What if we want to expand the last message by default?

We can do that by passing in an additional parameter.

And use that when the state is initialized.

Now we can specify the initial expansion state when we construct the expansion tile.

Checking if the current index is the last one.

Give it a try.

As you can see, the last message is expanded by default.

or when the person stayed late one night,

but what if we noticed what people were doing

when they didn't expect it?

Unexpected recognition is far more valuable

than when it's expected.

People remember when you give them unexpected recognition.

And they remember you.

You broke the norm, you took a risk

and doing that builds trust

and working with that person

tends to go a lot smoother.

And the more we do it,

the more others will begin to follow our lead.

You have the power to create a culture,

a culture where people notice the good

and not just the problems.

Don't wait for your boss or you CEO to change the culture.

Most leaders want a better environment

but they're unwilling to do the little things to create it.
