hello folks this is Yamil Sued for Gun Stock Reviews and today you know Santa Claus
got me Ruger a BRN022 action from Brownells and I'm and I got the complete
barreled action but it comes in pieces who we gonna put it together here real
quick one trick I learned is before you put the barrel on the receiver put it in
the freezer I just put this one in the freezer and it's supposed to go in it
reduces the friction on it and reduces the size of the Steel part so we're just
going to go ahead and put it in real quick and install it with the bolt just
to make sure that it goes in well on your ejector it's in the right position
itself using your bolt you're gonna go ahead and make sure that it's put it the
right place the right way it works better
a little tricky to line your
ejector slot with the barrel and all that so we have to use the action the
bolt in there insert it... insert it to make sure your ejector is properly
placed now we're going to put the two screws and the V block which brownells
includes with their action ok and the two screws are really really long
and one thing I recommend when we built the last last one we built is that you use a
ball n hex head wrenches like these these are very old from RadioShack I have had them
for over 20 years so make sure your Vblock screws are nice and tight
and by using the ball hex that wrenches you don't have to be straight
on you can do it at a sort of a 45 degree angle
now we'll Snug them in nice and tight. nice and tight
the barreled action is now assembled I used the BRN 22R action with the
tapered sporter barrel which is a lighter and it can be used as more of us
a fun plinker than a competition rifle but I've seen people shoot competition
with this tapered barrel like we've done before in the past we're going to go
ahead and install the the bolt area stop the bolt handle and we're gonna drop in
the bolt so if you remember last time we built it we made sure that all the
handle goes in the notch and something I didn't do last time is I didn't put
enough lubrication in it so it's good to add a little lubrication to it so is
kind of wet if you ask me I want to go ahead and pull in so when you pull down
back on your bolt handle it moves a little easier for you if this to dry is
gonna give you a little or a hard time
with your bolt handle all the way back
and very well lubricate it in place we're going to drop in the bolt assembly
and your bolt handle is gonna fall in this place here and this notch there
and wiggle it carefully and then let it go and there you are
you're assembled well sure I put a lot of oil in it and I'm wiping it down now
I rather have more lubrication than none than running it dry rimfire ammunition
doesn't like to be too dry so you can always clean it up and take all the
excess lubrication off okay the barreled action is built with a Ruger bolt now
we're going to put the Powder River precision trigger group on
make sure your ejector goes in the ejector slot and your two pins are properly installed
remember this pins have a bad habit of walking out so some people put a little
piece of tape on top or some people just don't
to wiggle this trigger group in so
it goes in all the way and then you go your trigger group is now installed the
final step we're gonna put in your recoil log there are several brands of
recoil reducing lugs I'm using the factory Ruger which is steel but there's
some actually some rubber ones that will cut back on your recoil but it's not
much recoil in 22 long-rifle so now that we have a completed barreled
action little oily and messy as it is we're going to use a Hogue thumbhole
tactical overmolded stock this is set for the thick barrel the competition
barrel the bull barrel but we're going to use it you can still use it for this
project so let's go ahead and open it up and get ready and install it
22...
1022 are really easy to assemble so basically you take your stock and you drop in your
action and that's it that's all you have to do then you put
your screw back in so let's go ahead and get my factory screw and get it started
and..
go ahead and use my Brownells screwdriver kit and put my screw back in
it the cool thing about the Hogue stock is that the hole for the screw is a
little tight but it also holds the screw in really nice and tight so now you go
have it there you have it my factory not factory yes I call it my
home made BRN 22 is done 16 inches remove all that extra oil cool thing
about this - it has a threaded barrel so is 1/2 by 28 it comes with a thread
protector from the factory from Brownells so you can actually use it as
he is with nothing on it you can put here you go check this out put my thread
protector on I am NOT gonna put a compensator on it yet even though I have
several I don't know if I'm gonna keep it as is or I'm just gonna show you a
compensator I got here from Algen parts check it out same size it comes
with an o-ring so you don't in there so you don't have to
any thread protector it self tightens and the muscle blast and gas is coming
out from a 22 long rifle it's not gonna be anything that you're gonna need to
thread lock it so I'm not gonna use it at this time I'm just gonna keep it as is
here's BRN 22 it's a great Christmas gift and you can actually this whole
combination you can get the stock from Hogue the barrel action complete barrel
action from Brownells the bolt assembly from Brownells with all the pins and
everything and your trigger group is available from Powder River precision
and it's a really good combination I'm really excited about it because the
trigger pull is greatly improved with this trigger pull with this trigger kit
and it's really cool that it comes with a an extended
magazine release and the cool thing about it both your bolt catch and your
ejector have a built-in extractor so if you extract your breaks in your rifle
you have a spare one on your trigger group so this is a great little
Christmas gift great little accessory and you have a rifle that will look
great under your Christmas tree so Merry Christmas at Gun Stock Reviews
