South Korea, U.S. working closely for joint response to North Korea: U.S. State Dept. official - Duration: 2:10.

The markets in Korea were all smiles on the first trading session of 2018,... but the

Korean won jumped sharply against the greenback on Tuesday,... reaching an over three-year

high,... sending a chill down the spines of local exporters.

The local currency ended at 1,061-point-2 won against the dollar,... a move believed

to have been strongly influenced by the strengthening Chinese yuan and the North Korean leader's

surprise proposal for inter-Korean talks.

Experts here point to a potential dip in outbound shipments over the stronger Korean won this

year,... especially as South Korea's exports have been heavily weighted toward the semiconductor

sector.

They also say Korean exporters are most competitive in the global market when the local currency

is above 1,130 won to the dollar.

The history of third parties in the US - Duration: 2:29.

The United States has a long, checkered history with third parties.

In theory, a gazillion political parties can exist and even get on the ballot, but we've

seen, time and again, most of these efforts fizzle out quietly or flame out spectacularly

without leaving any real mark on the system.

Things like the Green Party, the Pirate Party and the Rent is Too Damn High Party are novelty

items at this point.

But flipping through the scrapbook of elections past shows certain outside-the-mainstream

candidates can gain a foothold if not win the grand prize.

Check out the greatest hits from UVA. 1912: After leaving the White House, Teddy Roosevelt

ran as a member of the Bull Moose Party, getting 27 percent of the vote.

But it pulled support from his old affiliation, Republicans, leading to a Democratic win.

Strom Thurmond, a famous segregationist, ran under the Dixiecrat banner in 1948, but he

lost big time.

George Wallace, another segregationist from the South, bucking the Democratic Party got

13.5 percent as an "American Independent."

And in the modern era, the most successful third-party candidate was billionaire Ross

Perot in 1992, running as an independent.

He'd buy full blocks of prime-time network TV to share his ideas and charts.

In the end, he captured 19 percent, pulling support from his old nemesis George H.W. Bush,

cutting his presidency short to one term and handing the Oval Office to Bill Clinton, a

Democrat.

At other times, a come-from-behind candidacy has worked.

And PBS writes that outsiders have also led to important social and legal changes.

At this point, Republicans and Democrats have a stranglehold on the White House, Congress,

infrastructure, money and fundraising.

But some third parties are hoping to revive the centuries-old American tradition of staking

new ground and moving the political world with them.

N. Korea could conduct another ballistic missile test within this week: U.S. officials - Duration: 2:07.

The U.S. ambassador to the UN said she's heard reports of a possible North Korean missile

test happening soon.

A couple of U.S. media outlets have reported... that Pyongyang is preparing to launch another

long-range missile... and the test could be carried out as early in the coming days.

Oh Jung-hee reports.

U.S. ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, told reporters... tougher measures need to be drawn

up against North Korea... should the regime conduct another ballistic missile test.

(English) 2134 "As we hear reports that North Korea might

be preparing for another missile test, I hope that doesn't happen.

But if it does, we must bring even tougher measures to bear on the North Korean regime.

// We will never accept a nuclear North Korea."

Her remarks come after some U.S. media outlets reported... that North Korea's getting ready

to conduct another missile test -- possibly later this week.

CBS News reported on Tuesday... that the North seems to be in the early stages of a launch

cycle for another intercontinental ballistic missile.

The activity was detected at the same site where the regime fired its Hwasong-15 ICBM

in late November -- some 30 kilometers north of Pyongyang.

And if there is to be a test,...

CBS reported... it's likely to be within this week or early next week.

Since last week, CNN has also reported... citing "multiple U.S. officials," that there

are new signs of the regime preparing for another missile test.

And it's not likely to be a satellite, but a ballistic missile.

Such signs come at a critical time on the Korean peninsula... when South Korea and all

the relevant parties in the region are trying to keep things calm... ahead of the PyeongChang

Winter Olympics to come in a month.

Through his New Year's address on Monday, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un signaled that

he's willing to send a delegation to the Games... and Seoul offered to hold inter-Korean high-level

talks next Tuesday.

South Korea, U.S. working closely for joint response to North Korea: U.S. State Dept. official - Duration: 2:05.

Going back to the unexpected New Year's speech from up North.

The U.S. State department announced, Seoul and Washington are closely cooperating on

a unified response to Pyongyang.

Pundits and experts still analyzing the statement... for now believe it is very pro-South Korea...

and clearly anti-American.

Lee Ji-won helps us read between the lines.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's New Year's speech sparked a flurry of speculation and

analysis worldwide, especially within the U.S..

Amid concerns Kim is attempting to drive a wedge between the alliance with his 'pro-South

Korea, anti-U.S. stance',...

Voice of America reported Tuesday that an official from the U.S. State Department said

it's working closely with Seoul on formulating a joint response to the North.

And to South Korea's welcoming of Kim's comment on his willingness to send athletes to the

PyeongChang Olympics in February,.. the official said the U.S. is certain the South will host

a safe and successful Winter Games.

This comes as Kim warned the U.S. that the entire mainland is within the range of his

nuclear weapons,... while expressing North Korea's will to take part in PyeongChang 2018

and that both Koreas can meet urgently on the Olympics.

But many North Korea watchers say the young leader's two-track approach is a ploy to shake

the South Korea-U.S. alliance.

Bloomberg addressed Kim's willingness to join the Winter Olympics as an apparent olive branch

and a gesture of reconciliation,.. but added that it could also put ties between Seoul

and Washington to the test.

The New York Times also reported that Kim's words are merely aimed at alleviating international

sanctions and brewing discord between South Korea and the U.S..

South Korea and the U.S. share one goal of denuclearizing Pyongyang,.. but have different

ideas on how to achieve it.

President Moon Jae-in wants talks and negotiations,.. while U.S. President Donald Trump continues

to emphasize sanctions and pressure.

Deranged Trump Takes Credit For Lack Of Airline Crashes In US In 2017 - Duration: 3:11.

If you flew on a domestic flight in the United States in the year 2017, you obviously made

it from your current location to your destination and back without dying.

And for that, you must thank Donald Trump, or at least that's what he wants you to do.

See, on Tuesday, after it was announced that there were no domestic airline crashes in

the United States for the year 2017 and that it was a great year for airline safety, Donald

Trump decided to tweet out the following: Since taking office, I've been very strict

on commercial aviation.

Good news, it was just reported that there were zero deaths in 2017, the best and safest

year on record.

So, he is trying to say that because he was so good with commercial aviation, because

he was such a good president, there were no airline crashes and therefore, he deserves

the credit for the fact that you made it to your destination safely, possibly delayed,

but unfortunately there's nothing that our messiah Trump can do about that.

Here's the funny thing, though.

Actually, since the year 2009, since the very early days of the Obama administration, there

have been no domestic airline crashes here in the United States by a major airline carrier.

That's just the way it is.

Air travel is getting safer, and do you know why?

Because of all of the regulations that have been put in place and all of the people looking

over the shoulders, and from every step from the building of the plane to the hiring of

pilots to the sleep schedule of pilots, is heavily regulated so that we can protect American

lives.

But at the same time, right now, Republicans in Washington, D.C. at the behest of Donald

Trump, are actually looking into those regulations to try to get rid of some of them to make

it a little easier for the airlines to make more money at the expense of our safety.

Donald Trump deserves no credit whatsoever for having no airline crashes in 2017, just

as Barack Obama doesn't necessarily deserve any credit for not having any major domestic

airline crashes during his entire eight years in office.

But the fact of the matter is, there are steps that the president, that Congress, can take

to make airline travel a little bit safer.

The Democrats did do that.

Obama did do that.

Donald Trump is actively trying to undo that along with his Republican colleagues in Congress.

They deserve no credit for anything because they've literally done nothing except try

to make this country a little less safe so that corporations can save just a little bit

more money.

WHY KINETIC ENERGY PROJECTILE OF U.S IS STRONG ANSWER TO RUSSIA'S TACTICAL NUKE? - Duration: 7:27.

Russia has taken major steps in augmenting their military prowess.

From new battle tank T14 Armata to developing the world's most powerful ICBM Sarmat, Russian

military is expanding its capabilities.

Russia has also been putting lot of attention on Tactical nukes.

To counter them, the U.S. Army is taking another look at a "devastating" weapon. The Kinetic

Energy Projectile, or KEP, is a tungsten-based charge moving at three times the speed of

sound that can destroy anything in its path.

It was first tested by the Air Force and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in 2013.

In this video, Defense Updates analyses WHY KINETIC ENERGY PROJECTILE OF U.S IS STRONG

ANSWER TO RUSSIA'S TACTICAL NUKE?

Why would the U.S. military, which has put untold billions of dollars into precision

weapons over several decades, need such a blunt and terrifying weapon?

The answer is to counter small nuclear weapons of Russia.

A tactical nuclear weapon (TNW) or non-strategic nuclear weapon is a nuclear weapon which is

designed to be used on a battlefield level military situations, mostly with friendly

forces in proximity and perhaps even on contested friendly territory.

This is opposed to strategic nuclear weapons which are designed to be mostly targeted in

the enemy interior away from the war front against military bases, cities, to damage

the enemy's ability to wage war.

Tactical nuclear weapons include gravity bombs, short-range missiles, artillery shells, land

mines, depth charges, and torpedoes which are equipped with nuclear warheads.

Also in this category are nuclear armed ground-based or shipborne surface-to-air missiles (SAMs)

and air-to-air missiles.

The yield of tactical nuclear weapons are generally lower than that of strategic nuclear

weapons, but larger ones are still very powerful.

Maj. Gen. William His, the Army's director of strategy, plans & policy, said "The Russians

maintain their tactical nuclear stockpile in ways that U.S have not".

Potomac Institute head Philip Karber, who helped write the Pentagon's Russia New Generation

Warfare Study, offered a bit more explanation.

While the United States retains just a few of its once-large arsenal of tactical nukes,

Karber estimates that Russia currently has anywhere from 2,000 to 5,000 of the weapons.

He added: "Look at what the Russians have been doing in low-fission, high-fusion, sub-kiloton

tactical nuclear technology.

It appears that they are putting a big effort…in both miniaturizing the warheads and using

sub-kiloton low-yield warheads."

By shrinking the warhead, one can shoot it out of a wider variety of guns, including,

potentially, 152-millimeter tank cannons.

Barber said ,"They've announced that the follow-on tank to the Armata will have a 152-millimeter

gun missile launcher.

They're talking about it having a nuclear capability.

And you go, 'You're talking about building a nuclear tank, a tank that fires a nuke?'

Well, that's the implication".

Though the use of tactical battlefield nuclear weapons, even very low-level ones, is not

part of official Russian military doctrine, but it is a capability that they are increasingly

eager to show off to intimidate neighbors and adversaries.

Barber added, "They certainly exercise the use of those weapons in many of their exercises,

including the one that participated in the parking of 30,000 to 40,000 soldiers on the

Ukrainian border right before the 2014 invasion of Crimea.

That coercive intimidation is a part of their design".

And while even Soviet generals may have shied away from using tactical nukes, Putin's

military is "a lot more inclined philosophically to see the utility of them.

Kinetic Energy Projectile is a super-dense, super-fast projectile that, operating free

of complex systems and volatile chemicals.

Whether dropped from the sky or fired from a cannon, the principle behind these weapons

is the same: hitting the enemy with something very hard and very dense, moving very fast.

The principle of the kinetic energy penetrator is that it uses its kinetic energy, which

is a function of its mass and velocity (K.E=1/2 Mass * Velocity* Velocity) to impact target with lethal effects.

To maximize mass KEP uses the densest metals practical, which is one of the reasons depleted

uranium or tungsten carbide is used.

Maj. Gen. His, said a few weeks ago at the Booz Allen Hamilton Direct Energy Summit "Think of

it as a big shotgun shell".

But unlike a shotgun shell, Hix said, the KEP moves at incredible speeds of "Mach

3 to Mach 6."

Randy Simpson, a weapons programs manager at Lawrence Livermore National Lab, explains

that kinetic energy projectiles are warheads that "take advantage of high terminal speeds

to deliver much more energy onto a target than the chemical explosives they carry would

deliver alone."

Mr His added: "The way that they] have designed it is quite devastating.

I would not want to be around it.

Not much can survive it.

If you are in a main battle tank, if you're a crew member, you might survive but the vehicle

will be non-mission capable, and everything below that will level of protection will be dead.

That's what I am talking about."

The kinetic energy projectile may become a staple of modern warfare soon as per most

experts.

The absence of explosive propellants to store and handle, as well as the lower cost of projectiles

compared to conventional weaponry comes as great advantage.

K.E.P will be used as an advanced conventional precision effects warhead for prompt strike

capability.

U.S and Russia has taken different routs in-terms of battle field level weapons.

The Russian are going with tactical nukes which will cause widespread destruction whereas

America is going with a more precise strike option.

For Russia, it makes sense as they already have a huge stockpile of tactical nukes.

From America's stand point, K.E.P fits well into the larger picture of augmenting precision

strike options with this highly destructive technology.

It remains to be seen how this duel pans out in the future.

Top 10 Best Places to Raise a Family in US - Duration: 10:49.

Top 10 Best Places to Raise a Family in US.

What makes a city a great place to raise a family?

Our list of the top 10 best places to raise a family in US include those that have low

unemployment, low crime rates, reasonable costs of living, and home prices that aren't

out of the range of most Americans.

Other important points, such as the best schools, plenty of parks and recreational spaces, and

the potential for growth were also included in compiling this list.

Which of these best places to raise a family in US are interesting to you?

Not all towns and cities are created equal.

Below are some of the best cities in the United States to raise a family.

1: San Francisco, California.

Though San Francisco is known for a very high cost of living, it pays to remember that the

paychecks in the area are very high, too.

The city has an inherent beauty that draws people from all over the world.

It also has a great number of recreational areas, serious educational opportunities for

all ages, and plenty of entertainment for anyone.

If the costs are too high, keep in mind that other towns are very nearby, and you can settle

down there and still take advantage of all the great things San Francisco has to offer.

2: Charlottesville, Virginia.

This is the quintessential Southern town, filled with great food on every corner, interesting

entertainment for all ages, access to some of the most beautiful natural recreational

areas in the country, and a broad exposure to the arts and sciences.

Thomas Jefferson called this home, and today the history is rich and clear.

Keep in mind that though this is the home of a major university and only a train ride

away from places like Washington D.C., Charlottesville retains a small-town feel.

3: Omaha, Nebraska.

Many people choose to settle here with their families.

Nebraska is chosen as one of the best places to raise a family in US because it has hundreds

of parks and green space to play in.

The sports fields stretch as far as you can see, and the neighborhoods are full of well-tended

cul-de-sacs where kids can ride their bikes without worry.

Crime rates are very low, the schools are top-notch, and the jobs are readily available

for hard-working parents.

Costs are well below the national average, unemployment is very low, and many major companies

call this area home.

There is also a zoo, a huge children's theater and much more.

4: Stamford, Connecticut.

Though this isn't a cheap place to live, the living is very nice for the price.

Stamford is home to many magnet schools that turn out productive winners in society, the

crime rate is virtually nonexistent, and the idyllic setting is perfect for weekend recreation.

There are big parks, easy commutes to places like NYC, and big wages for those who bring

home the bacon in the family.

In fact, this exclusive enclave is home to many millionaires.

5: Middletown, New York.

This town nestled in the Hudson Valley holds the distinction of offering an amazing amount

of money for education – in fact, Middletown spends more money on education than most areas

in the country.

It is also within an hour of Manhattan, which means parents can work in the big city but

still bring up their kids in a small town.

Zoos, nature centers, amusement parks, and over 34 state parks in the region make this

a great place for entertainment, too.

6: Suwanee, Georgia.

This gorgeous town just outside of Atlanta offers a top-notch education, plenty of green

space and a ridiculously low cost of living – a nice boost to those who earn a big paycheck

in the metro area before making the short drive home.

The schools are highly regarded, and the town makes a point of playtime for kids of all

ages, with a huge fountain meant for kids to wade in and a massive public playground.

Want more?

The Blue Ridge Mountains and all that recreational fun are a short drive away.

7: Madison, Wisconsin.

Just 80 miles from Lake Michigan, this is one of the top college towns in the nation,

and that higher education trickles down to the residents: more degrees, better elementary

and high schools, and more educated teachers are a great draw.

There is a very lively music scene, plenty of play places for the kids, green space,

and festivals and activities sure to delight anyone of any age.

8: Salt Lake City, Utah.

With a very short commute and plenty of jobs available for those who live in the area,

Salt Lake City lives up to its reputation for good living.

The city is astoundingly beautiful, surrounded by mountains, and the educational system is

driven by some of the most prestigious universities in the country.

The outdoor sports industry is huge, cultural experiences are thriving, and those who want

a more religious upbringing can find it here among the many Mormons who call this city

home.

9: East Grand Rapids, Michigan.

A whopping 44 percent of all families here have small children, so it's no surprise

that the public school system is one of the best in the nation.

This enclave is home to numerous parks, plenty of green space, and all sorts of museums and

other fun.

The shore of Lake Michigan is just 30 minutes away, making for an easy day trip on the water.

The costs of living are ultra-low, and the average paycheck is ultra-high.

10: Reno, Nevada.

The median household income might be low, but so is the cost of living, and jobs are

abundant – especially in the casino industry, which pumps money into the economy.

It's a huge outdoor recreation area, offering year-round play in the mountains and green

spaces that have become a hallmark of this town.

It has a small-town feel, but the casinos and downtown areas give it all the pizzazz

of a much larger place.

BREAKING NEWS!! AMBUSH UNDERWAY – Bloody Massacre at U.S. Mall! - Duration: 4:50.

BREAKING NEWS!!

AMBUSH UNDERWAY – Bloody Massacre at U.S. Mall!

Americans barely made it through the holiday season without a mall ambush which authorities

had warned could happen with terrorism in the U.S. on the rise.

It turns out that the bloody massacre was saved for a day after New Years Day when innocent

shoppers weren't suspecting it and had perhaps let their guard down.

Now, an entire mall is on lockdown and employees and patrons are terrified for their lives

while police officers work quickly to find two suspects.

One of the strictest states in the nation for gun control has found themselves once

again on the receiving end of a "bad guy" with a gun while good guys have no way of

defending themselves from their wrath.

People are scrambling and hiding within the Corta Madera mall in California that's now

on lockdown with sitting ducks trapped inside with two shooters looking for their next victims.

Initial reports are calling this horrific incident and "armed robbery" gone wrong,

but recent history tells us that's typically the first conclusion authorities jump to when

perhaps the intent is actually much different.

"An armed robbery at The Village in Corte Madera prompted a lockdown at the mall Tuesday

morning, according to security at the mall," KRON reports.

"The armed robbery happened outside of the Nordstrom."

"Security also tells KRON4 the mall is being reopened at this time, however, Nordstrom

and some other stores remain on lockdown."NBC Bay Area reports from the scene:

Police activity is being reported at The Village mall in Corte Madera, according to posts on

social media.

At least two people who are at the mall said a lockdown had been issued by mall security.

One person said on Twitter he was moved to the break room at the Apple Store was safety

KTVU has more details as they are unfolding right now:

Authorities in Marin County are responding to an incident at the Village at Corte Madera

mall.

The police activity is in the area of 1870 Redwood Highway in Corte Madera.

Numerous officers with guns drawn are on scene outside of the Nordstrom store.

Authorities would not confirm to KTVU the nature of the incident.

KTVU spoke to an employee who says her manager called her just before 10:00 a.m. advising

her not to come to work because of a gunman at the mall

There has been an increase in shootings and shopping center takeovers like this recently.

On December 18, Liberty Belle for Freedom Daily reported another incident like this

one, but with a much different outcome:

For years, we have heard the gun grabbers on the left spouting off lies to disarm the

American people.

It seems that every time there is a news report of gun violence the left is ready to pass

new legislation that would make it harder for law-abiding citizens to purchase guns

to protect themselves and families.

These gun grabbers are quick to mention all the times that criminals had used guns to

harm others but hardly recount the stories of when a good guy with a gun stopped a potential

tragedy.

And, that point is proven yet again when a deranged gunman walked into a Kansas state

Costco today screaming that he was ready to kill innocent people.

However, all that was averted thanks to an armed citizen in the store who was able to

stop the lunatic, and it was all caught on video.

When any of us go to the grocery store the last thing on any of our minds is that we

could be walking into danger.

However, that is what happened on Monday when families in Lenexa, Kansas were faced with

the unthinkable.

As people were milling about the superstore, the crazed gunman Roland Hunt, walked into

Costco armed with a gun and begin screaming "I'm going to kill people."

Fortunately for all the shoppers there that day Captain Michael Howell an off-duty police

captain was in the store at the same time, and he made sure no one harmed except the

gunman.

As Hunt walked further into the store, Howell stalked him, being sure to protect the women

and children from the potential harm the gunman could bring.

Then, when Hunt caught sight of Howell he turned and pointed his gun at the officer,

but before he could get a shot off, Howell already shot him dead.

It's a right of every American to be able to defend themselves against lunatics and

terrorists like these shopping center shooters.

It's no coincidence that a lot of these incidents take place in liberal anti-Second

Amendment states – they know they are safe in gun-free zones to do what they want.

This needs to be stopped and the only way to do it is to arm and empower innocent people

with the right to protect themselves.
