The South Korea-U.S. defense cost sharing agreement
has to be re-set considering reality and fairness.
That's what Elbridge Colby, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, said at a press briefing
on Monday, local time.
Asked whether it isn't contradictory to strengthen the alliance with South Korea but at the same
time seek to negotiate on the defense cost share,... Colby answered, "you wouldn't expect
your friend to be unfair when working together."
He stressed South Korea has become one of the most prosperous countries in the world...
and the U.S. is already spending a large share of its defense budget on supporting forces
abroad.
The comment comes amid speculation the two countries could soon start negotiations on
defense cost.

Trump to tout strong economy in State of the Union address debut - Duration: 1:55.
Now for a look at stories making headlines around the world and we start with President
Trump's first State of the Union address.
The highly anticipated speech to Congress and millions of Americans is slated for Tuesday
night, Washington time.... or 11AM this morning, Korea time
For more on this and other news we turn to our Ro Aram…
Aram… what can we expect from Trump's debut State of the Union address?
Well Semin… on Monday, White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said the economy will be "front
and center," and Trump will likely take credit for the U.S. economic gains in the past year.
The trend of lower unemployment and higher growth began under his predecessor, but Trump
argues the tax overhaul he signed into law late last year has boosted business confidence
and will lead companies to reinvest in the United States.
Furthermore, Trump will likely mention plans to rebuild America's infrastructure and continue
his demands for renegotiating or scrapping trade deals with other nations.
He is also expected to push for bipartisan congressional action on immigration reform
with a possible deal with the Democrats.
At the heart of his proposal is overturning a decision to scrap the so-called DACA program,
in which around 700-thousand young illegal immigrants, known as Dreamers, were protected
from deportation.
Trump, in return, is hoping to secure billions of dollars for his proposed border wall with
Mexico, as well as cuts to legal immigration levels.
If the issue is touched upon, then it would be interesting to see the reactions from dozens
of Democratic lawmakers who are bringing Dreamers as their guests to watch the address.
The general goal of Trump's maiden State of the Union address will be to rally support
as he struggles with record low approval rating and battles a probe into his campaign's alleged
ties with Russia.

South Korea, U.S. start second round of FTA talks - Duration: 1:53.
South Korea and the U.S. have started their second round of talks on the possible amendment
of their free trade deal.
The meeting, which kicked off in Seoul earlier today,.... comes amid rising tensions between
the two countries over Washington's safeguard measures on South Korean washers and solar
panels.
Kim Hyesung reports.
A second round of talks to revise the Korea-U.S. free trade agreement.
Negotiators from South Korea and the U.S.,... represented by Yoo Myung-hee, director general
for South Korea's trade ministry's trade policy bureau and her U.S. counterpart, Assistant
Trade Representative Michael Beeman, kicked off their two-day meeting in Seoul.
Before entering the talks, Yoo said she will focus on maximizing Korea's national interest
and that the two sides will discuss details on topics raised during their first round
of talks in Washington.
During the initial meeting in early January, Seoul raised issues with the investor-state
dispute settlement cause and ways to protect its agricultural industry,... while the U.S.
presented proposals to improve its auto exports and lift trade barriers.
As of 2017, Korea's trade surplus with the U.S. was about 18 billion dollars, with car
exports accounting for over 70 percent of the surplus.
At the same time, South Korea is expected to raise the issue of Washington's safeguard
measures.
A week ago, the Trump Administration imposed tariffs on foreign residential washing machines
and solar cells, including those from South Korea, saying they hurt U.S. local industry.
The safeguard measure, which was imposed for the first time against Korea in 16 years,
would lead to tariffs of up to 50 percent on imported washing machines and a 30 percent
tariff will be applied on imported solar panels after the first 2.5 gigawatts in the first
year.
Calling the move excessive, South Korea has filed a complaint with the World Trade Organization.

U.S. Air Force General says North Korea has not demonstrated important ICBM technologies - Duration: 0:42.
A senior U.S. military official has assessed that North Korea's nuclear program has made
some strides in recent months,... but the regime has yet to demonstrate all the components
of an intercontinental ballistic missile.
Paul Selva, Vice Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, says North Korea has yet
to demonstrate fusing and targeting technologies or a survivable re-entry vehicle.
However, he says it's possible the North has them,... but hasn't demonstrated them just
yet.
In November, North Korea said it had successfully tested a new type of ICBM,... the Hwaseong-15,...
which could reach all of the U.S. mainland.

Donald Trump issues stark WARNING that North Korea could STRIKE US 'homeland very SOON' - DAILY NEWS - Duration: 3:09.
Donald Trump issues stark WARNING that North Korea could STRIKE US 'homeland very SOON'
DONALD Trump has issued a stark warning to the US by claiming that "North Korea could
very soon threaten our homeland" in his State of the Union (SOTU) speech to a joint
Congress, it has emerged.
The Republican firebrand blasted despot leader Kim Jong-un for oppressing his people and
labelling his pursuit of nuclear weapons as "desperate".
He stated: "No regime has oppressed its own citizens more totally or brutally than
the cruel dictatorship in North Korea.
"North Korea's reckless pursuit of nuclear missiles could very soon threaten our homeland.
"We are waging a campaign of maximum pressure to prevent that from ever happening.
"Past experience has taught us that complacency and concessions only invite aggression and
provocation."
The President then vowed to avoid "the mistakes" of past administrations that he claimed had
put North Korea in its threatening position.
He went on: "I will not repeat the mistakes of past administrations that got us into this
very dangerous position.
"We need only look at the depraved character of the North Korean regime to understand the
nature of the nuclear threat it could pose to America and to our allies."
A defector from the hermit kingdom was present in the audience - Ji Seong-ho's story of
having his limbs run over by a train before being subject to torture by the regime was
told by Mr Trump.
He said: "Seong-ho traveled thousands of miles on crutches all across China and Southeast
Asia to freedom.
"Most of his family followed.
His father was caught trying to escape, and was tortured to death."
The Republican firebrand declared that the defector was a "witness to the ominous nature"
of the rogue state.
Fred and Cindy Warmbier were also present at the SOTU address - the couple were reunited
with their son, Otto, after he returned from 17 months of captivity in the hermit kingdom.
Otto Warmbier died shortly after arriving back in the US after suffering from severe
brain damage.
In memory of the American college student, Donald Trump promised to "honour Otto's
memory with total American resolve".
Trump gave his first joint address to Congress last year, but it was not considered an official
SOTU speech as he had just taken office.
Melania attended the first joint address to Congress address and the US First Lady again
watched her husband's first SOTU speech.
His first SOTU speech came as his approval rating hovers in the 30s.

South Korea and U.S. to hold second round of FTA talks in Seoul - Duration: 0:53.
A second round of FTA renegotiations between South Korea and the U.S. kick off today.
Trade representatives from the two countries are meeting in Seoul this time around... after
holding their first meeting in Washington.
The talks, which will run through Thursday,... come a matter of days after South Korean manufacturers
were hit by the Trump administration's recently implemented safeguard measures against South
Korean residential washing machines and solar cells.
And it also comes after President Trump *again slammed the FTA as "a disaster," and a "job-killing"
pact for his country.
Seoul maintains the FTA benefits both countries by expanding trade and improving market access.
The second round of talks will likely center on key issues such as automotive parts,...
something the two weren't able to agree upon last time.

Humor from on High | U.S. Supreme Court Musings - Duration: 3:16.
Lawyers engaged in litigation must keep up with appellate decisions related to their
practice area.
At times this can be a real challenge to staying awake.
So, it is gratifying when some jurists salt their opinions with observations that can
make us smile … and keep our attention.
Here are a couple examples: A convicted murderer's lawyer argued to
the Supreme Court that his client's conviction should be overturned because four eyewitnesses
all clearly saw his face but didn't agree on his exact height and build.
Justice Scalia, known as the "funniest justice," pointed out:
"The desperate implausibility of the theory that petitioner put before the jury must be
kept firmly in mind.
... To assert that unhesitant and categorical identification by four witnesses who viewed
the killer, close-up and with the sun high in the sky, would not eliminate reasonable
doubt if it were based only on facial characteristics, and not on height and build, is quite simply
absurd.
Facial features are the primary means by which human beings recognize one another.
That is why ... bank robbers wear stockings over their faces instead of floor-length capes
over their shoulders; it is why the Lone Ranger wears a mask instead of a poncho; and it is
why a criminal defense lawyer who seeks to destroy an identifying witness by asking 'You
admit that you saw only the killer's face?' will be laughed out of the courtroom."
Justice Scalia was not the only Supreme Court wag.
Justice Sandra Day O'Connor could also turn a phrase.
Her clarity of thought allowed her to state the obvious:
"The issue presented in this case is whether a resolution banning all 'First Amendment
activities' at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) violates the First Amendment."
It didn't take long for the Supreme Court to unanimously find that the ban did in fact
violate the First Amendment.
I must admit that sometimes Hackard Law's litigation team fights trust, estate and elder
financial abuse cases on behalf of wronged beneficiaries where we must oppose defense
arguments we find to be as silly as the eye-witnesses case or as obvious as the First Amendment
case.
That said, what seems obvious to some of the parties may not be as obvious to their opponents.
That's when we take action for our clients.

Techcrim Russian ZINC slug - First time demonstrated in U.S.! - Duration: 10:28.
this is Jeff coming to you from the hot zinc zone yes
these are zinc slugs let free they come from Russia they're in the United States
and hopefully soon they'll be available for sale these are made by a company
called tech rim we have the pleasure of e in the first people in the United
States to shoot these and show you what they do while the box is pretty plain
looking it does have all the vital information we need we see the slug
weighs 20 grams the startup velocity is 500 meters per second and even has an
expiration date the shell is marked in Russian which i think is pretty cool and
I believe it says tech rim eco Diablo slug the roll crimp is interesting
because it has a small taper to it that should help with feeding issues on some
shotguns looking at the slug itself you can see that it's pretty much a clone of
the Lineman 525 slug while the slugs looked very similar they differ in
density and also hardness zinc has a melting point a little bit higher than
that of lead so it actually makes sense to use zinc because it's inexpensive and
it's castable the alternative for a non led slug is to use brass copper steel
all of which has to be machined which drives up the costs even though the zinc
slug is much lighter than its LED counterpart that just means you can load
these much hotter get flatter trajectories and make up for that loss
and bass welcome back to later folks Jeff and officer Craig here hey today
we're bringing you tech rims zinc round not available yet in the US this they're
here in the United States but there's not for sale anywhere yes so we're gonna
fire zinc against an aluminum block you saw the aluminum block Danny shot last
week and made a weird ringing noise and if you didn't go back and watch it so
let's go ahead and give this zinc round let's go ahead and give it a dip it off
butterfingers dropped on the ground yeah we're gonna run it through the weather
BPA four five nine and send it downrange and see how it does
there you go so there's our impact go off to the left left it I know I am a
leftist a little bit low a little bit left but look what it did here how it
stretched that out we can say we had a big spark - black just barely missed
keyboard Karl so the TAF later Brewer just mentioned
that this is a 0% AR lower they block of aluminum goes good it's a cookie that's
definitely it goes good no one in California knows it's still illegal in
California could be turned into a guy just thinking of it is having me illegal
thoughts you know right I have to give this to sur kisi and have them take it
to Nevada Nevada for Nia yeah we have found that the Diablo shape has
excellent ballistic properties we've shot slugs made out of multiple
materials everything from candy aluminum wood plastic using the Diablo shape and
they've all perform extremely well and by the way the a blow is a toy it
doesn't mean the devil okay I'm ready
one interesting thing that we found is that the hollow cavity in the tail of
the slug is unnecessary in a shotgun slug it's easy to understand that you
might need that cavity there for balance but it's completely unnecessary you
could actually get a heavier slug by just making it solid thick rim zinc slug
non-lead the Russians are environmentalists too
okay uh whenever you're ready Wow 1575 tactical cookie jar
are you ready all they found was a face down
we found that performance of these slugs very satisfactory but because they're
using such a light slug that gives them a lot of headroom it'd be very easy to
make high-performance powder loads with these slugs that would drive them to
1,800 to over 2,000 feet per second safely Jeff just put together a package
format at demolition ranch yeah he sent us a package of dirt box of dirt do you
wanted us to shoot don't be a wanker
okay box of dirt every it's a real crowd-pleaser I tell you everyone loves
box of dirt okay whenever you're ready one for kids but for kids slug pieces we
dug out of the dirt it went right through the box it hit on this side once
all would stop it and I I didn't think it would shatter this low that's real
Texas dirt though from demolition ranch that's the demo we could plant some
seeds in that and grow a in two days you can have a whole crop yeah corn feed a
nation a lot of kids in Africa that have been eating all of our other cast offs
so slug fractured you can see right here broke into three four little pieces the
tail end of that thing just kind of cracked right off slug fracture by the
way it would be an awesome name for a German punk band
smug fracture now our slugs shattered when it hit this
box of kind of wet dirt however my friend Alexi in Russia who has shot
these before has reported to me that if you shoot him into sand or other
materials like that you can actually pull the slugs out completely intact and
reload them again ok we have a we have a soaking wet owl sitting in a pool of
water ego so I was aiming for between the eyes
they've been consistently left here so it hit him right in the eye just right
beautiful now he's a Cottontail owl tough old bird just like Angela
Merkel but look at this this is what's cool right on this Oh
watch through your stainless steel plate so in right out the back so missus TFM
it's not gonna have this for next Thanksgiving yeah me through the
stainless steel frying pan or whatever that is automatic turkey drainage system
yeah so far we've only shot these at a pretty close range of less than 20 yards
the biggest reason for that is because the zoom on my high-speed camera is
pretty limited and we wanted to really observe the flight of the slug see how
it's actually behaving in transit since we had an entire box of ten shells that
allowed us to take a few shots at a further distance just to see how the
grouping is
okay how many he got left three three rounds so he's gonna shoot it at the
goat target down there try to try to keep the same point of aim so we see
what kind of grouping we get at 1500 YouTube yards yes or 35 American yards
yeah okay I'm ready when you are there you go holding just a little bit right
okay okay so from 35 yards away we have this six inch circle here I always hold
just a hair right because of all of our rounds have been drifting left and I'll
be damned if they didn't hit dead sooner there so you see the impact point sir
there's a lot of impacts yeah I need to repaint that really but Lee spell tell
pretty sure that's from the 460 you can feel those little divots everything else
is not bad not bad thanks mountain goats mountain goat yep I've only got some
contact information like a phone number physical address and an email address
for potential retailers to sell their product I think it'd be very cool to
have real Russian marked ammunition to shoot out your shotgun

Melania Trump CLEARLY Despises Donald And Showed It At State Of The Union Address - Duration: 3:50.
During Donald Trump's State of the Union address Tuesday night, pretty much every republican
in that room really enjoyed everything that the President had to say.
And I say pretty much every republican because Melania Trump was having none of it.
Recent reports have shown us that Melania Trump is absolutely furious with her husband
over the Stormy Daniels, the adult film actress, the allegations of the affair that the two
had shortly after Melania gave birth to Barron and her anger and pretty much hatred for the
President of the United States was on full display during the State of the Union.
Take a look at this clip and see Melania's reaction when Donald Trump starts talking
about family and faith and God.
In America, we know that faith and family, not government and bureaucracy, are the center
of American life.
The motto is "In God we Trust".
All right, so several things to point out before we even get to Melania's like stoned
face, I hate you, so much reaction to her husband.
Steve Mnuchin, in that clip, looked like he was more excited than he's ever been in his
whole life and his body didn't even understand how to convey happiness.
Just that wooden plastered smile on his face, clapping like a child.
And then speaking of children, poor little Barron sitting there clapping his poor little
heart out for his father who's lying to the American public all night, but that kid's
just happy to be there, happy to see his dad up on stage and, wow, so much enthusiasm for
this guy who doesn't understand that his dad is destroying this country.
And then, of course, there's Melania.
Melania's expression looked like she hated every single thing about that man that was
speaking and clapping very loudly for himself at the podium.
She didn't want to be there.
In fact, she didn't even ride with the President to the State of the Union address.
They took two separate cars and it's not even like they left an hour apart, they went at
the same time, they were just in different cars 'cause she doesn't want to be around
him anymore.
I will be shocked if Melania Trump does not file for divorce before the end of Donald
Trump's first term as President of the United States.
She hates him and she may not be saying that publicly but the fact that she literally does
not want to be around him, canceled things on their trip to Switzerland so she didn't
have to be near him, didn't ride in the same car with him and then refused to give the
standing ovation that every other republican in that room was giving, that speaks volumes
about how this woman feels about the man that she married.
She can not stand him and I seriously doubt those two will be together by the 2020 elections.
Maybe not even by the 2018 midterms.
