When you think of California you think of sunshine- Disneyland- Hollywood and celebrities.

However California also has a dark side- theres actually a lot of spooky things that happen

there including hauntings and that's what were going to talk about today.

Hey youtube welcome back to the most amazing top 5 im court mcginley.

Before we get started I want to know- whats the scariest thing that's ever happened

to you?

Let me know your answers down in the comments.

Alright lets get started on our list of the top 5 most haunted places in California.

Starting us off at number 5--The Hollywood sign- The most famous landmark in Los Angeles.

For some this sign stood for hope- a new start and new adventures- but for others its where

they chose to take their final breath.

The most notable suicide to take place here was that of Broadway stage actress Peg Ent-whistle.

Back on September 18th of 1932 a hiker found her lifeless body in a ravine below the sign.

Police stated that she climbed a workman's ladder to the top of the 45 foot letter H

and jumped to her death.

Visitors still to this day say they see the actress plain as day hanging out around the

sign- some even see her standing on top of the H.

In at number 4--Griffith Park- Back in the late 1800s Don Antonio Feliz was a wealthy

land owner who died suddenly from small-pox.

He had a 17 year old niece named Dona who he was very close to but she was cheated out

of her uncles will.

She was then said to put a nasty curse on the land and its owners.

Ever since then bad omens and untimely deaths have struck the land owners one after another.

The last owner was a man named Griffith J Griffith- he donated the property and land

to the city before he went to poison for shooting his wife.

To this day a few of the park rangers have claimed to see Dona in a white dress riding

a horse on the trials.

At number 3--Hollywood Roosevelt- this one is an extremely popular place in California

due to the legend that Marilyn Monroe's spirit is there haunting the place.

This all started when people began taking pictures of themselves in a famous mirror

in the hotel lobby and they claimed to see Marilyns reflection in it above them.

This mirror originally belonged to Marilyn and it hung in her poolside suite.

After all the supposedly haunted pictures the hotel removed the mirror from the lobby.

This building also has another famous spirit on the 9th floor- and that's said to be

Montgomery Clift- he lived in suite 928 many years ago for 3 months and would often practice

his trumpet.

To this day neighbouring gusts to the room have asked hotel staff to tell the person

in the next room to stop playing in the middle of the night- but turns out the room was actually

vacant.

Coming in at number 2--Queen Mary- This ship has used its spook factor around Halloween

to draw in tourists for an event called Dark Harbour.

But this ship located in Long beach is certifiably haunted according to countless visitors.

Many have claimed to hear voices and rattling chains during tours and overnight stays.

The Queen Mary has a dark past.

Starting off as a luxury liner in 1937.

Hosting everyone from Bob Hope to Winston Churchill.

Then when WW2 hit the ship was drafted into service as a ferry ship.

Carrying thousands of troops into battle areas.

After years of service the ship was then sold to a tour operator.

According to a late psychic and ghost hunter Peter James almost all areas of the ship-

especially the second class pool deck and engine room 13 are known to be haunted.

At number 1--Suicide Bridge- yep with a name like that its pretty obvious this place is

haunted.

This beautiful landmark in Pasadena is the Colorado Street Bridge.

It was constructed in 1913 and the first suicide associated with it was in 1919.

And apparently the body count has been raking up ever since.

Its said there has been more then 100 documented cases of people jumping off this bridge to

commit suicide.

But Pasadena isn't a fan of the high body count so its been said they actually reduce

the number every now and then- and that the number is actually much higher then publicised.

There have been many ghost sightings there over the years.

The most common one is of a woman who can be seen crossing the bridge- cars are swerving

to avoid hitting her and then she just disappears.

And there you have it that's our list of the top 5 most haunted places in California.
