The Last Post season one: What time is it on? How many episodes? Who's in it?

How many episodes are in The Last Post season one? The Last Post will run for six episodes starting tonight (October 1) on One.

  What is The Last Post about?  The wartime drama is written by BAFTA winner Peter Moffat and follows his childhood memories and his father's career as an officer in the Royal Military Police.

The series will also chronicle his mother's struggles as she tried to conform to the requirements of being an officer's wife.

  What's more, the series will give viewers an insight into the extreme danger of army life in 1960s Yemen, as its central characters are exposed to deadly heat and bloodshed.   Who is in The Last Post? Jessica Raine.

Call The Midwife star Jessica Raine leads the all star cast as she branches away from her role as Jenny Lee in the nation's beloved medical drama.  Jessica stars as Alison Laithwaite, who struggles to play the doting wife to Lieutenant Ed Laithwaite.

She comes a dose of scandal and seduction as she cheats on her husband. The actress has also starred in Wolf Hall, Fortitude and Jericho.

Jessie Buckley  Jessie Buckley shot to fame when she came in second place on BBC talent series I'd Do Anything, which saw Andrew Lloyd Webber on the hunt for the next Nancy in his rendition of Oliver Twist.

She plays Honor Martin in The Last Post. Stephen Campbell Moore  . Stephen Campbell Moore stars as Alison's husband Ed Laithwaite, an outsider and a tortured soul.

His unconventional approach leads to resistance from the army.  Viewers may recognise Stephen from the Benedict Cumberbatch standalone drama The Child In Time, while he also starred in the 2006 film The History Boys.

Jeremy Neumark-Jones stars as the young Captain Joe Marton, a new arrival in the army.  The Last Post marks Jeremy's first break out role in television but he popped up in last year's BBC One drama One Of Us.

The Last Post airs Sundays on BBC One at 9pm.
