Road Trip Down the PCH - California - Duration: 2:32.

I'm here in sunny San Diego after having just taken an autumn Road Trip down route 1 for those of you

that don't know route 1 is a

Historic Highway that starts in San Francisco and run 600 miles all the way down the coast of California

And ends up here in San Diego

Over a million tourists travel down route one every year going to awesome places such as san Francisco big sur monterey

Malibu you name it if you're in a rush

Probably not for you. It's a very windy

Long Road that will take important tabler to get anywhere, but it's absolutely beautiful

You don't need a GPs or directions or anything once you get to route 1 you literally just drive straight by straight

I mean like this I get to drive right along the beach see the Pacific ocean

There's you can pick strawberries along the way stop and buy like avocados and fruits from local Vendors

To take you through a variety of different scenery like you'll start out driving down sunny

Beach and then you'll go into

flat Farmland

High Cliffs

And it'll be sunny one second and then it'll be foggy and windy the next

And I will say that if you're not a huge fan of wind

Maybe this is for you because there are some parts of it that you definitely just kind of want to probably stay in your car

Looks great though if you like birds

You're going to see alot of birds if you see so many bird that you're going to not even

Care about Birds anymore

And if you're lucky like you might even make a squirrel friend for the day or something that it's definitely possibility

There's some great squirrels. I'm sure

you're not supposed to feed them, but also like squirrels need to eat too so

That's the thing

Yeah, well that's basically it. That's all I got you know. This is probably a pretty short blog, but uh

You know it's just a road, so there's only so much you can do with a road and a vlog it's a really cool road

But at the end of the day, it's a road

So you know there's only so much I can say about a road. Im just going to slowly walk away now

How to grow roses - Growing great looking roses in your garden - Duration: 9:01.

roses they come in a lot of colors they are fragrant and are a fun and enjoyable

way to add Beauty to your garden let's look at growing roses

roses are usually grown in full Sun

now if you're growing roses against the wall like you see here on a structure you just need to

make sure that you're they're getting at least about six hours of sunlight if you

don't provide them is at least six hours of sunlight you're not going to get a

lot of flowers and your plant won't grow properly

so make sure you're giving them adequate sunlight and you will get great-looking

roses the one that you see here is the white iceberg rose one of the most

popular Rose varieties at least here around in Southern California you can

see them in almost all places here it's a great Rose variety to grow one of the

tasks that you'll be faced with when growing roses in containers is repotting

roses I recommend that you repot roses every 1 to 2 years because within about

two years the rose plants will get root bound and you'll have to transplant them

in a separate container so what you're doing here is preparing this container

we are using some good well-draining organic potting mix you can create your

own potting mix if you want by using equal parts of compost, perlite and peat

moss and add some worm castings in it for some good fertilizer

I'm using an existing potting mix that's cheaply available in a Costco if you

have one nearby or you can use any other potting mix now I'm taking this plant

out of the previous container make sure that you wear good protective gloves

because roses do have thorns and you don't want those thorns piercing you

while you are working on your repotting your plant

so what we do is we try to fit it into this container now I'm using a slightly

wider container and that's what you should aim for and make sure that the

plant sits comfortably in it just like you see here and once that is done you

just fill soil around the container now make sure that when you're filling soil

in the container that you compact the soil very well along the side edges

otherwise what happens is that when your soil settles down you're going to have a

lot of holes around the sides of the container and then it becomes very

difficult to water the plant so here it is how the plant looks like once the

repotting process is completed

you can prune the plant a little bit before repotting but since it was the

summer season I just went ahead and repotted this plant because the plant

would grow anyways now let's look at transplanting roses oftentimes you might

have some rose plants that are in the soil you may want to move them or just

transplant them in containers whatever the case is it's very easy to transplant

roses they have a very good root system

even when you remove the plant and expose their root the plants don't die

so you can easily take out these plants like you see here even if you just take

the bare roots and then plant them in another area they grow very well you

should have no issues transplanting roses this way

the plant that I was growing in the ground here there were about two or three

plants planted very close to each other you can see here there are some plants

here you can prune the roots a little bit if you want if they are not

manageable before you transplant them now let's look at what fertilizers you

need for roses any kind of a rose or a bloom booster fertilizer works very well

for roses now again you have organic options and you have salt based

fertilizers or synthetic options and I leave that choice to you but you can see

here are some options for using some of the best fertilizers that you can use

for rose plants and all of these are very good options just make sure that

you are fertilizing your rose plants well during the growing season which is

spring through summer and now let's look at insect and disease control for roses

now roses do get a lot of insects and diseases especially during the warm

seasons which is like summer and the end of summer so what I usually do is I just

use a neem oil as a preventive measure for my rose plants and by just playing

neem oil like once a month I don't really have any problems with any of my

roses but I do not recommend that you use chemical treatments that's one thing

that I do not recommend in your home garden using chemicals using any kind of

pesticides that is not organic that is going to be a real hazard for the

environment

because bees love roses you're going to see a lot of buzzing activities around

your roses so you don't want these bees to die you don't want the beneficial

insects to die

let's now talk about pruning and maintenance this is one of the biggest

maintenance activities that you need to do to maintain a good rose garden and

that is pruning now once these flowers are formed they look very pretty but

once the flowers start dying and they become like dark yellow to brown

you will need to start pruning these plants so there are many ways to do this

but what I usually do is every week or so I will just come into the garden and

just remove all the dead flowers as you can see here and if your row is

producing flowers in bunches I would recommend that you just prune the

individual flowers and if the whole bunch has died you can prune in such a

way that you just cut off a little part of the stem so that you leave the bud

area exposed and that's where the plant will grow more shoots so there's really

no right or wrong way to do this you just need to make sure that you're

cleaning up your plant your plants don't look like brown or dark yellow once the

flowers have dried and that will help you maintain the overall beauty of your

garden now as soon as you finish pruning either the flowers or the branches just

make sure that you have adequate moisture in the soil that the plants

don't dry out because usually after pruning the plants want to send out a

new set of shoots and that's when you want to have adequate moisture levels in

the soil but as a general rule of thumb roses need to be watered once a day or

once in two days at least during the hot months and during the cold winter months

it's adequate if you water them once a week or twice a week so just by

following this gentle watering guideline for roses you should have very healthy

rose plants

and here you can see we're pruning some more flowers out of the rose plant the

ones that have died and once again this is the iceberg variety of rose and for

some reason I really like this Rose variety it produces abundantly it

requires almost no maintenance other than pruning of the dead flowers

and the dead branches and it's a great Rose variety to grow and it's an all

break from the usual red or pink roses that we see so overall it's a great

variety to grow now once in a year I recommend that you

hard prune your roses by cutting them down to this size that you see here and

this really lets the plant grow a lot of shoots a lot of new shoots and in the

upcoming season you will see your plant with a lot of green shoots and a lot

more flowers and once you hard prune your plants it's also the right time to

add fertilizer I usually do this once in a year like around January or late December

so there we have it folks that was our episode on growing roses I hope

you enjoyed this episode and let me know what kind of roses do you grow subscribe

to our channel if you haven't already and we'll see you again soon happy gardening

Japanese Classics of the 2016 Touge California Rally - Duration: 3:05.

Japanese Classics of the 2016 Touge California Rally

A chat with any car enthusiast in Japan will undoubtedly include the word touge (pronounced "toe-geh").

Touge is the Japanese word describing the curvy mountain passes that dominate the Land of the Rising Sun and provide the perfect playground for casual cruisers and racers.

Last year, the folks at Japanese Nostalgic Car attempted to re-create those touge roads in Southern California with the first-ever Touge California rally.

The success of that event prompted this year's second annual Touge California, which combined 26 Japanese classic vehicles selected by JNC staffers.

Among those vehicles were three from Mazda's heritage collection: a 1975 Mazda REPU (rotary-engine pickup), a 1978 Mazda GLC, and a 1985 Mazda RX-7. (Click here for details on those cars.).

Touge California proved to be far from an easy, breezy cruise, with more than 200 miles of scenic and often challenging roads in and around San Diego and Orange County.

The following are all the vintage Japanese vehicles that participated in the event. Photo by Larry Chen for Mazda. The first-generation Toyota Celica was well-represented at the rally with three examples of the notchback body style.

Of the three, this 1977 Celica looked closest to stock with a stunning combination of pearl white paint, brown leather interior, and rear window louvers.

Of the handful of 240Zs, this one was particularly special because it was previously owned by Yutaka Katayama, the father of the Z car who is often referred to as Mr K.

He later gifted this Z to his personal assistant, whose son proudly piloted the yellow coupe at Touge California. 1973 Subaru 1400 GL Coupe.

The rally's lone Subaru had a deceivingly long hood that housed a meager 1.4-liter, four-cylinder boxer engine driving the front wheels with no more than 70 hp.

The quirky coupe was hard to miss throughout the route thanks to its bright green paint, which was a factory color offered by Subaru in 1976.

It may have doily-covered seats, but this 1984 Toyota Century commanded respect at Touge California. The owner acquired this mint sedan while he was stationed in Japan, where the Century is considered an exclusive ride for government officials and VIPs.

This Century is powered by a stout 40-liter, hemispherical V-8, and its air suspension keeps the ride nice and smooth. Those doilies, by the way, are official Toyota accessories. 1965 Datsun 1500 Roadster.

Luck was with this 1965 Datsun 1500 roadster. One of its hubcaps fell off during the drive, but the driver later found it and saved his classic's impeccable looks.

The owner also happens to be a designer for Nissan, which makes us wonder, could his Fairlady be the inspiration for an upcoming Miata-fighter from Nissan? We can only hope.

Affectionately called "the little Corolla that could," this tiny Toyota may not be packing much under the hood, but at least it conquered the route's grueling hills and finished the rally on its own. Some cars weren't as fortunate.
